The darkness was heavy, slowly wrapping around my consciousness like a pool of black quicksilver. I could hear nothing except a low hum in my ears, mingling with the throbbing pain concentrated at the back of my head.

My senses returned gradually. The first thing I felt was the icy chill of the hard metal chair I was seated on, and the cold iron handcuffs bound tightly around my wrists behind my back. The smell in the air was a foul mixture of mold, rusted iron, and damp concrete.

I opened my eyes with difficulty. My vision was blurry and double at first, but the surroundings slowly came into focus.

I was inside an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. Water droplets fell rhythmically from the decaying, high ceiling like the ticking of a clock. The only source of light was a flickering neon bulb swaying overhead, casting dancing shadows across the cracked concrete walls.

Before I could fully process my situation, heavy footsteps echoed through the quiet space.

"Oh, the little doe is awake..."

The voice came from the shadows. A massive man stepped forward, wearing a black tactical vest, a deep scar stretching from his left cheek to his upper lip. He held a radio in one hand, and a sidearm gleamed on his belt under the dim light.

"Who are you? What do you want from me?" I rasped, my throat as dry as a desert. I tried to pull my hands away, but the iron cuffs bit sharply into my skin—a brutal reminder of reality.

The man let out a dry, humorless laugh. "Me? I’m just the bait, sweetheart... But you? You are the key that’s going to set this entire city on fire. Alexander Ivanov and Damian Vance think they run these streets, but they have no idea that someone has been watching their every move for months."

My heart constricted the moment he uttered their names. Alexander and Damian.

The captor continued, leaning against a nearby wooden table. "Your pretty legs and pretty face drove the two most dangerous men in the North and South completely insane. We sent a single message to both of them... telling them that the girl they’re fighting over is right here. Now, let’s see which one of them drops his pride and shows up first, stepping right into our trap!"

Cold sweat broke out across my forehead. I wasn’t just a kidnapping victim; I was the bait meant to destroy two men who didn't even know they carried the exact same blood!

Suddenly... the power cut out completely.

Pitch-black darkness swallowed the warehouse. The sound of dripping water vanished, replaced by an agonizing silence—the kind of silence that precedes absolute chaos.

"What is this? Put on your night-vision goggles now!" the captor barked nervously into his radio.

The silence didn't last long.

Thud! Thud!

The suppressed sound of muffled gunshots pierced the dark. It was immediately followed by the heavy thuds of men collapsing onto the hard floor like felled trees.

"He's here! He came alone—"

Before the guard could finish his sentence, the massive iron door of the warehouse caved in with a sound like thunder. The heavy door smashed against the concrete wall, sending dust flying everywhere. Silvery moonlight streamed through the opening, framing the silhouette of a man standing at the entrance.

It was Alexander Ivanov.

He stood in the center of the storm, his heavy overcoat swaying gently in the cold draft. He wore no body armor and held nothing but his silver handgun equipped with a suppressor. His marble features were colder than ever, his grey eyes gleaming with a lethal, unforgiving light.

"You made a fatal mistake..." Alexander said softly, yet his voice carried to every corner of the warehouse like the whisper of death. "You touched something that belongs to me."

Gunfire erupted in every direction. The warehouse turned into a living hell. Alexander didn't run; he moved with measured, deadly precision. Every step he took meant a life stolen, every bullet finding its mark right in the head or chest. He dodged incoming fire as if reading the future, moving through the shadows as if he were part of them.

In the midst of the chaos, when the violence reached its peak, the roar of a second engine thundered from behind. A massive black 4x4 slammed directly through the side wall of the warehouse!

Bricks and concrete shattered upon impact, and the truck's door flew open the moment it skidded to a halt.

Out stepped Damian Vance.

He held a heavy automatic weapon, his hair soaked with rain and his face spattered with blood.

"You bastards!" Damian roared, a sound that shook the very foundation of the room. He unleashed a barrage of fire toward the remaining captors, showering them with bullets without giving them a single second to breathe. He was like a rage-filled volcano, completely unbothered by cover or danger—his only goal was to pulverize anyone standing in his way.

And in the middle of all that destruction, Alexander's and Damian's eyes met for the very first time tonight.

Alexander stopped firing, lowering his pistol slightly toward the South. Damian paused, training his automatic weapon directly toward the North.

I stood trapped between them, breathing heavily, tears of fear and shock freezing on my cheeks.

The two brothers—completely unaware of the truth—stood just a few yards apart. Ice and Fire. North and South.

"What the hell are you doing in my territory, Ivanov?" Damian asked in a razor-sharp tone, his hazel eyes burning with rage. "This girl is under my protection."

Alexander replied with lethal coldness, his tone devoid of any tension. "Your protection? It seems your failed protection is what got her snatched off the street in the first place, Vance. She was never, and will never be, any of your concern."

Damian took a aggressive step forward, the veins in his neck bulging. "Listen to me very carefully, Alexander... Get out of here right now before I put a hole through that pretty head of yours. I'm taking her."

Alexander let out a faint, mocking smirk. "Try it then."

The tension between them was so thick that the oxygen in the room felt suffocating. Both were ready to tear each other apart and ignite a full-scale civil war in the city, just to claim me.

Suddenly, the head captor—the last man surviving—crawled out from behind the rubble, raising his gun and aiming directly at my back!

"If I can't have the ransom... no one gets her!" he screamed, pulling the trigger.

In that stretched microsecond... both brothers moved at the exact same time, driven by the exact same instinct.

Bang! Bang!

Two gunshots fired in perfect synchronization—one from Alexander’s silver pistol, the other from Damian’s weapon. Both bullets tore through the captor’s forehead at the exact same moment, dropping him dead before his shot could ever touch me.

Dead silence returned to the space.

Alexander stepped toward me with calm strides, pulling a small blade from his pocket to slice through the restraints binding my wrists with one swift movement. "Are you alright, Elena?" he asked softly, his warm hand brushing my bruised wrist.

Before I could answer, Damian shoved Alexander’s shoulder roughly, pulling him away from me. He grabbed my other arm, yanking me toward his side. "Don't touch her!"

"Don't you ever lay a hand on me again," Alexander said, his voice dropping to a bone-chilling whisper as he raised his pistol, aiming it straight at Damian’s forehead.

In response, Damian tilted his head, jamming the barrel of his heavy weapon directly under Alexander’s chin!

I stood paralyzed between them, my breath hitching as two titans fought over my battered body. I could see the exact same genetics, the same fierce intensity in their eyes, and the same lethal stubbornness.

"Stop!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, tears welling in my eyes. "Both of you, stop!"

They both looked down at me at the exact same moment.

"I am not a piece of property!" I cried, pulling my arms away from their grips with everything I had left. "I am not a trophy for your war!"

Alexander looked at me with a deep, dark, intense gaze, his voice low and absolute. "You are not a trophy... You are the only reason I haven’t burned this man alive right now."

Damian leaned down slightly until his face was inches from mine, his hot breath brushing against my cheek. "And he’s the only reason I haven't taken you out of this city tonight, Elena. But this war... has only just begun."

I stumbled back, realizing with dreadful clarity that what was coming would be far darker. This was no longer just a rescue mission; it was the spark that ignited a ticking time bomb built on love, thrones, and forgotten blood.

In the end, a tense, temporary truce was forced upon them: I refused to get into either of their personal vehicles alone. • BOUND TO TWO DONS   Ruins of Thrones and Forgotten Blood

At twenty-two, most people my age possessed the simple luxury of worrying about mundane things: enduring exhausting university exams, searching for a respectable desk job that offered stability, or planning a wild weekend night out to break the monotony of the week. For me, however, my sole and ultimate luxury was waking up each morning with a composed face, facing the world, and paying the rent for the cramped, decaying apartment I inhabited on the forgotten edge of this sprawling city. My name is Elena Vane. My life was nothing more than a straight line of artificial calm and a continuous escape from memories. I worked as a receptionist and gallery assistant at the Aurora Classic Art Gallery—a dark, high-end art gallery sitting right on the dividing line that split the city into two hostile halves. I intentionally preferred the night shifts; the night inside the art gallery granted me a solemn silence, a silence that wrapped around the centuries-old oil paintings and created a prot
