Chapter 2: Hunter

last update publish date: 2026-04-09 16:43:18

Nothing makes you limp-dicked quicker than hearing a beautiful girl is going to die.

Olivia gives me one last steely look, and then she walks through the principal’s door.

“You have to leave Mr West.” Receptionist Marley tells me kindly. I smile at her, but inside I think I’m about to explode.

Execution? The Council couldn’t allow something like that.

My dad is on that council. He wouldn’t put Alpha Rick, his best friend, through hell for a girl none of them knows just because she’s human.

Human and fucking stunning.

I literally froze when I saw her golden curls and soft brown eyes, and my dick shot up like an arrow.

I’m ashamed, but the sexual thoughts didn't stop.

In the time it took to walk here, I've imagined pressing my desperate mouth to hers, sucking in her cinnamon and strawberry scent, kissing down to her breasts, her cunt.

Sinking a mating bite into her neck.

I swallow. As if Rick would ever allow me mate her. I don’t even know her.

And I'm not some sleazy fuckboy.

I hurry outside to the bleachers. As expected, two wolves surrounded by a small group are sitting there, and I relax a little.

My pack.

Axel, of course, is the first to spot me. He frowns, sensing my distress before I even drop into my regular spot.

Immediately, the crowd rushes to my side, hungry and desperate for information.

“Hunter, Hunter! Is she really here?” a girl cries.

“Goddess, the human must be a beast.”

“What the hell is her kind doing polluting our school?”

Axel cuts them an angry glance, then barks, “Away. Now!”

They scatter like confetti, hurrying as fast as possible away from the force that is Axel Parker.

Once the last of them leaves, I breathe out, “Thanks, man.”

“Of course. What are Alpha’s for?” He doesn’t take his eyes off me, “You don’t seem to hate her.”

“Why should I? She was-”

A small moan cuts me off. I grimace and turn to the one person who would be making a woman cum in the middle of school.

“Ryker,” I call, but the girl in his lap has made him deaf. He grabs her hips and grinds her against him, the smacking of their wet kiss driving me insane.

“Just like that Rye.” She gasps, pulling him closer as he groans in response. His hand sinks under her skirt, clearly fingering her, and I think I may throw up.

“Enough of this shit,” Axel mutters. His phone whizzes past, knocking Ryker on the skull.

“OW! WHAT THE FUCK MAN?!” Ryker cries, finally pulling away from the girl in his lap. Her tinted lip gloss is smudged on his scowling lips.

Axel doesn’t even spare him a glance. Instead, he gives the girl an icy look that has her clumsily buttoning her blouse.

“I thought I said you should all fuck off.” He growls.

“S-s-sorry Alpha Axel.” She stutters. She doesn’t even bother reaching for her bag before scurrying away.

Before Ryker can glare at Axel, he spots me, and a slow smirk forms on his swollen lips.

Cool as he is, I can basically feel the excitement radiating off him.

“Tell me everything.” He urges, “Was the human hot?”

“For goddess sake Ryker, is sex the only thing you think about?” I snap. His green eyes widen and he reels back.

“Come on man, I just want to know” He pleads, “Talon would ask the same thing.”

“Do not bring Talon into this,” Axel warns. Ryker opens his mouth to argue, but I can already feel a headache coming on.

Nothing good ever comes from talking about Talon.

“She is hot.” I cut in, hoping it stops a potential fight, “but she’s also vulnerable. Dad and uncle Rick made me swear to protect her, and I’m going to.” I pause, “We all are.”

I’m not surprised by Axel’s harsh, humourless laugh, “I didn’t know your dad and uncle controlled my pack.”

“You know that’s not what this is.”

“Okay, so this is your call, then? Some soft human gets your dick up and now it’s the pack’s mission to protect her?” The silver of his eyes is violent.

He pointedly looks at the bulge in my trousers, and my cheeks heat as I use my backpack to hide it.

“Don’t think with your cock, Hunter. That’s Ryker's thing. If your dad wants you to take care of some fucking freak, feel free. But don’t ask our help just so you can play saviour.”

I clench my fists. I knew he would let his hate for humans win.

He hasn’t even met Olivia, but he’s allowing a war that happened 20 years ago form his terrible opinion of her.

I can’t let that happen.

“Ryker?” I plead. I can’t protect Olivia alone, and I need my Alpha, but maybe me and Ryker will be enough for now.

His green eyes light with mischief. It’s clear he’s imagining just what it’ll be like to stick his dick in her. I nearly growl at him.

What is wrong with me?

Finally, he shrugs, swinging his backpack on his shoulder and standing, “If this matters to you Hunt, then sure.”

I can feel Axel glaring at us, but I’m too relieved to care, “Thanks, Rye.”

“Oh don’t thank me yet.” He muses, “I’ll do it only if you agree to a small competition.”

I’m instantly on high alert. Ryker’s competitions are a recipe for disaster.

“Yes?” I ask hesitantly.

“It’s simple, whoever fucks the human first wins.”

I bristle. What kind of bet is that?

Ryker detects my hesitance, because he leans in and pats my back, “Come on Hunter, don’t always be so…good. Be a little reckless.”

Goodness is all I know, all Dad taught me. Plus, if I even start becoming reckless, who takes care of Talon?

I gulp, weighing my options.

I could agree and just… not do it? If it gets Ryker on board then what harm could it cause?

And there’s part of me, a small, terrible part of me, that wants to know what Olivia sounds like when she cums on my dick.

I stick out my hand before I can have more impure thoughts, and (goddess forgive me) I shake Ryker and seal our bet.

“Deal.”

  • Bite   Chapter 119: Olivia

I should kill him now. I have the chance, so I should take it. But my fingers are trapped around the picture frame. No matter how hard I try to release it, my hands don’t comply. “What is this?” I ask again, unable to hide the warble in my voice. Nester edges closer, the smell of death on him suddenly unbearable. “Maybe you should sit down-” I jerk away from him, toppling onto the bed. “Don’t tell me what to do.” Nester shakes his head. “That is the last thing I will ever do. You are the goddess herself to the people of Penbrook. If anything, you will soon tell them what to do.” His hand clasps my shoulder, “but first you have to listen to me.” The air thins. I struggle to gulp in the right amount of breaths to keep me standing and listening to this asshole. Me? A Goddess? How? And why to them? He gently pries the frame out of my shaky hands, his gaze hazy as he stares at the photo with a thin, reminiscing smile. “We were all so close then,” he starts wistfully, “all so young

  • Bite   chapter 118: Ryker

It’s like I can feel the mark tattooed into my skin. Something that I haven't noticed in however long suddenly feels hot and heavy on my body. I run my hand over it painfully, as if doing that enough times will eventually rub it off my skin. Maybe by the time the door opens I'll look down at my ankle and see there was nothing there after all. “Ryker,” Hunter says soothingly, “Calm down.” How can I calm down? I'm in the dark. I'm chained to my brothers, and apparently I've been marked by Nester. “No no no no no.” I panic, rubbing harder, faster, trying to get this evil thing off my skin.Fingers snap around my moving hand, and from the slenderness of their touch, I know it's Talon. “Rye, it's okay,” he says gently, but he must think I'm stupid not to hear the tension in his voice. “It's okay for you.” I don't keep the panic out of my tone. “You're not the one with Nester Rist’s mark on your skin.” “Rubbing it isn't going to change anything,” he tries to keep his voice steady. F

The sack over my head comes off, and I stare up at Nester’s hulking frame.Every blood cell in my body freezes. “Miss Blackwood,” he says, “it’s such an honour to have you here.” He’s here. He’s actually in front of me. My brain falters as it tries to think of words to say, but Axel’s low growl beats me to it. Nester doesn't even acknowledge him. “You’ll have to forgive my… methods of getting you here.” Nester raises the sack. “I didn’t know how else to have a formal meeting with you. I’d insisted Everest try to convince you to come, but I guess that was an error on my end. He isn’t always… amicable.” A million responses come to mind, but I can’t get any of them past my lips. This is the man who murdered my mother. This is the reason all the humans other than me are dead. This is my greatest enemy. My biggest threat. And he’s so… polite? “Um,” I start, finally managing to put words together. “Hello.” Nester smiles at me, a full set of white teeth gleaming in the darkness.

  • Bite   Chapter 116: Ryker

As Alex drives down the barren road, one thought loops in my mind: I can’t get warm. It doesn’t matter how many times she turns off the air conditioner, or how thick my jacket is, I’ve been shivering for hours. No, scratch that. I’ve been shivering for days. Since John attacked me. I try hard not to think about that fact, because if those two are connected, then it’s clear that something is very wrong, too wrong for me to handle. “Here,” Alex announces, parking the car by that damn Penwood barrier. The intimidating rock juts out of the stones, practically warning us against entry. For a second, none of us moves. I look to my pack brothers and Liana, each sporting gleaming handcuffs that match mine. They bite. Hard. Digging into my skin in a way that’s sure to leave a mark. Liana lets out a shaky breath. “No turning back now, is there?” “Nope,” the boys and I chorus. Even if there were, I’m not leaving here without Axel and my girl. “Well,” Liana starts, puffing out her ches

  • Bite   Chapter 115: Olivia

“Where are they now?” Axel questions, the first thing he’s asked me in the single hour we’ve been locked up here. I turn to him, as if a sack isn’t covering my head and stopping me from seeing him, “Alex went to get them 45 minutes ago. They should be here any minute from now. Once they arrive, it’ll be easier for all of us to break out with Alex’s help.” At least, I hope that’s what’s going to happen. The longer I stay locked in here, the more I’m convinced Alex may not truly be on our side. What joined her to us? Was it really Axel, or could that just be a convenient excuse to kidnap us? I set my hands aflame just to make myself feel better. If her knife doesn’t work, I’ll light someone up and send them to hell. “These cuffs hurt like a bitch,” I bemoan, trying to take my mind off what Alex may or may not be up to. Axel just huffs in response. His chains rattle against whatever we’re tied to as he strains to set himself free. I know this isn’t the time to antagonize him, but

  • Bite   Chapter 114: Hunter

I hate this Alpha bond thrumming in me. Or… I should. It feels so foreign, but at the same time so right. Am I evil for thinking it suits me? In another time, in another life, I think I would make a pretty good Alpha. But even if I could begin to enjoy it, I can't help thinking about what I've stolen from my actual Alpha, and what that theft made him do. I pace my room, feet echoing against the wooden floorboards, and try hard to put myself together. Olivia is fine. Alex is on our side. Once this is all over, I can give Axel back what rightfully belongs to him. I run a hand through my hair, shocked by how knotted it is. I can't remember the last time I combed it out. Old Hunter would have died to know that, but old Hunter didn't really have any problems, did he? “What the fuck do I do?” I grumble, face-palming before flopping heavily onto my bed. I contemplate calling Dad, but talking to him will only make me feel worse. I must be such a disappointment to him right now. Alpha

  • Bite   Chapter 81: Axel

Olivia doesn’t say a thing to me after I talk. Good, I tell myself. That’s what I wanted: some sort of separation from the human. Some distance from the torture and desire that flutters in my chest whenever she so much as looks at me. I'm doing this for my boys. I'm doing this for myself. And i

  • Bite   Chapter 92: Olivia

It’s easy to forget just how terrifying Axel is when you’re on his good side. But now he’s looking at me with a level of betrayal that has me backing away, crunching gravel beneath my boots as I take step after step back. “You were going to kill me?” he mumbles, quietly, as if he’s still proces

  • Bite   Chapter 89: Olivia

Any amusement we feel stops the second we reach Penbrook. The air is thin here, or maybe it’s just me struggling to puff in oxygen. There’s a jagged border of rocks separating this part of things from the rest of the town. Once we cross it, there’s no going back. I gulp as I say, “You guys sho

Talon. My Talon? “What the hell did you just say about my beta?” I snap, all the fear draining out of my body and replacing it with burning, hot rage. “You’re a smart boy, I hope you’re not expecting me to repeat myself?” She chastises me like I got a question in her class wrong. I shove her nas
