LOGINMaya's POV:
I knew that Declan could be ruthless, but hearing it stated so plainly still cut deep. At this point, I was irrelevant to him, something to be sacrificed for his own survival but I swallowed hard and nodded. “I won’t go back on the agreement.” He studied me for a while, then gestured to the guards . They drove me in silence through winding roads until we reached the dense forest bordering Bloodhound and Moonclaw territories. There, four huge men dressed entirely in black waited like statues. They took me without a word, bundling me into a black SUV. The drive felt endless, the forest blurring past until we pulled up at a sprawling packhouse that looked imposing. They led me inside, through echoing halls, and finally into a vast living room. A tall man rose from a leather couch. He was over six feet, easily taller than Declan’s six-three frame, with dark hair, piercing blue eyes, and a muscular body that made him far more handsome than Declan had ever been. But the aura rolling off him was darker and deadlier than anything I had felt from even the strongest Alpha and my knees gave out instantly. I dropped to the floor in fear, certain this was the Night Reaper. He sent the guards away with a single wave, leaving us alone in the echoing space. Then he crossed the room, crouched in front of me, and gently tilted my chin up so I had to meet his eyes. “Don’t be scared of me, I won't hurt you.” He said, voice surprisingly soft. “I won't hurt the woman that I want to make Luna of the nine packs I’ve taken over.” A thousand questions burned on my tongue, but I could only manage one. “Who… who are you?” He smiled, the expression transforming his sharp features. “Call me Cassian.” “Why do you want me as your Luna?” I whispered. “We can talk about that later.” He replied smoothly. “For now, you need to eat something.” He helped me to my feet with surprising gentleness and led me to a long dining table already set with steaming dishes. As we ate, my mind raced in circles. I was pregnant with Declan’s child, and now this strange man wanted me as his wife. How would he react if he found out? Would he force me to end the pregnancy? The thought terrified me. Still, I forced myself to eat, afraid refusing might anger him but his eyes never left me, watching every movement as if he could see straight into my soul. He served me more food with a warm smile, like we were old friends, but the attention only made my skin crawl with discomfort. When the meal ended, he called for maids to clear the plates, then rested his hand on the table and stared at me with open affection in his gaze as I gathered my courage again. “Why do you want me to be your wife…” A sharp pain lanced through my stomach, cutting the words off and I gasped, pressing a hand to my abdomen. It passed quickly, so I tried to continue, but the pain returned worse than before, twisting like a knife. I cried out, doubling over and Cassian rose instantly, concern flashing across his face. “Are you okay?” The pain intensified and I screamed, clutching my belly as warm blood trickled down my legs. Tears streamed down my face while Cassian scooped me up and carried me out of the room as the world blurred, and then everything went black. When I woke up, I was lying in a soft bed, while Cassian sat on a stool beside me, holding my hand. The moment I regained awareness, I yanked my fingers free and pressed both palms to my stomach. “How is my baby?” I demanded, voice hoarse. He met my eyes steadily. “You lost it.” The words shattered something inside me. For a moment I couldn’t breathe. I had considered ending the pregnancy at first, but over the days that followed I had grown to love the tiny life inside me because it was the one remaining thread tying me to Declan even if we would never share a future and now it was gone. My thoughts swirled until I remembered the pain had started right after eating. “You poisoned the food.” I whispered, sitting up abruptly. Then I grabbed his collar with both hands, and shook him. “How could you be so cruel? How could you kill an innocent baby?” Anger flashed across Cassian’s face as he shoved me back against the pillows. “I had to. There was no way I was going to let a woman carrying another man’s child become my Luna.” He stormed out of the room, leaving the door to slam behind him while I sat there alone in the silence, tears streaming down my face, staring at the empty space where he had been as my hand rested on my now-empty stomach.Samantha's POV Pain exploded inside my body as Declan rained blows and kicks on me.I instantly dropped to the ground, shielding myself as he kept on going, despite how much I tried to plead with him to stop.It was in that moment that I realized the monster that Declan truly was.“Who do you think you are?Who are you to tell me what to do?" He questioned me as I tried to curl my body into a ball and protect myself from the savagery from the man that was supposed to be my protector.I couldn't believe that I was being beaten up by him because I told him he couldn't force himself on the maids, since I knew that it would soon become a habit if it went unchecked. One of the kicks landed on my face as I looked up to him and was about to plead with him to stop. That kick stunned me.Everything became blurry, and the world around me spun. The monster didn't care that I dropped my hands and wasn't guarding my face anymore.I was basically defenseless as he continued with his barrage of att
Samantha's POV For the days that followed, Declan spiraled even further from how he was before. He was unstable, but the takeover by Cassian was another reason for him to lose his cool.Everyone was on edge with him, as he started to act out of rage.If anyone came across him when he was already irritated, they would feel the wrath of a man that felt like he was backed into a corner. There was a constant question that rang in our heads each and every few minutes, of what Cassian was thinking. Was he going to attack us in the dead of night? Wake us up from our sleep to realize too late what was happening and have absolutely no time to escape?Or was he going to ride at dawn, and make sure that we knew he was coming from a distance?Either way, we had no chance. It's not like we could flee. Our pack was literally surrounded by packs allied to him, and they wouldn't allow Bloodhound pack members to flee using their pack. Not unless they wanted to be completely destroyed as well.Over th
Samantha's POVSaying that the past few weeks were good would be a lie. From dealing with Victoria, Declan's mother who constantly told me how to raise my child, to an unstable husband who was starting to spend more nights in his study, more than the nights he slept next to me.Ever since that madman Cassian stepped foot in Bloodhound and demanded for Maya's family, Declan wasn't the same.He was agitated with almost everything, and it was becoming more evident that he was starting to spiral.Personally, I said good riddance to that damned family.Knowing that Cassian was taking them, meant that I wouldn't have to deal with Declan constantly monitoring them every now and again.I had spent countless nights up, waiting for him.Only for him to come back to the house very late, and with the heavy scent of cigarettes and liquor on his breath.Declan never admitted that he was obsessed with Maya, and this constantly pissed me off.The denial that his marriage to her wasn't just a contract
Maya's POVDinner went great.Everyone enjoyed and ate to their fill as we talked and caught up with my family. At first, I thought that Cassian wasn't going to join us, but when I asked him if he was going to, he didn't hesitate to say yes.Laughter, stories, jokes and even a little banter here and there, and all of us were having a blast. You'd think that Cassian was just anyone, with the way that he was engaging with my parents, and Ethan as well.During the dinner, Ethan didn't hesitate to ask Cassian what it would take for him to join one of his troops.Mum was obviously not happy about it, and Cassian was quick to pick up the idea. However, he found a compromise for both.He offered to have one of the head warriors train Ethan, so that he could be able to handle himself if he were to find himself in a life-threatening situation.I guess he remembered that Ethan was already kidnapped once, and needed to ensure that if anything as close to that would try to happen, my brother woul
Mr Voss’ POVThe maid made a few calls and finally told us that she knew where the Alpha was.“Will we have to wait so that we can talk to him?" I asked as she was taking us to where he was.“For most people, yes, but not for you.The Voss family will get the highest priority in anything that you ask for, and that includes even seeing Alpha Cassian himself," she answered almost immediately. With Declan, it would have been a matter of whether he was in the mood to see us or not.But hearing that talking to Cassian was going to be that easy, just have me more reason to believe how much he cared about Maya that he prioritized us.I still wasn't convinced that marrying him was the right decision for Maya. Not after everything that she had gone through.“What are we going to talk to him about?" Ethan asked in a hushed whisper as we walked."Your sister. I still don't think that he's the right man for her. Especially not with everything that she has been going through lately," I answered hi
Mr Voss’ POV“Should we stay here or take the offer for the bungalow that's still close to the pack house?" My wife asked, as she was undressing to go and take a shower. We had been shown our rooms, and Ethan had his room right next to us, while Maya was somewhere off in the compound. She walked like she owned the place, and I could tell that those few months that she had been in Moonclaw without our knowledge, a lot had changed. She wasn't the same girl that walked out of the marriage from Declan.“Honey?" My wife called to me, as she was wrapping her towel around her waist.“Are you okay? You seem deep in thought," she added.“I think we should take the house. I don't think it makes sense for us to live under the same roof as our daughter, and soon to be husband," I finally answered her. However, I could tell that the answer wasn't enough for her, making me think hard and deep to see whether I might have said anything out of line. There was nothing."How are you feeling about all of
Maya's POVTwo days passed since the incident with Cassian. And in those two days, I didn't go anywhere near him.Well, especially since I barely left my room.Mirabelle was sent countless times to tell me that Cassian had something planned for me, and at first, I was scared that if I declined, he
Maya's POVI don't know how long I waited.Perhaps it was a few seconds, or a few minutes. When the doors finally swung open once again, I looked up and this time, I knew who I was looking at from the word go.He was wearing casual, but had on his Alpha robe that I was able to spot immediately.Cas
Jasper's POV"I take it that she's not pleased with being held here against her will," I commented as I walked into the room and looked at Cassian. He was facing the window, and looked over his shoulder briefly."Have you gotten word from our commanders?" He inquired, completely ignoring my questio
Maya's POVEvening came quickly, and I was standing on the balcony in my bedroom as my glance lingered on the distant horizon. The day had been uneventful for the better part of it, with the exception of talking to my parents. That one small detail had lit up everything else, and I felt like I didn
