Lisa's pov
I stood in the large living room of our family mansion in New York City and waited for my mother to come home after her long time away in Greece. My sister sat next to me on the couch and turned to me with a grin. "Do you think Mom will bring any gifts from her trip?" I smiled back at her and said, "I hope so. She always picks the best things for us." My brother leaned forward from the other couch and added, "I just want to hear her stories about the beaches. I missed her voice around the house every day." My other sister laughed and jumped in. "Yeah, me too. And maybe she will tell us about all the food she ate. Greece sounds like heaven." We kept chatting like that, laughing and guessing what Mom would say first when she walked through the door. Then the front doors opened with a loud sound and my mother Julie walked inside with a wide smile on her face. She looked happy and relaxed from her vacation, but she was not alone. A tall man with broad shoulders walked right beside her and held her hand tight. My mother laughed softly, "Hello everyone. I want you to meet my new husband, Erin. We got married in Greece and I could not wait to bring him home to all of you." The diamond ring on her finger sparkled under the lights. My brother stood up fast and blurted, "Mom, are you serious right now? You just got back and you brought a husband with you?" My sister jumped in right away. "This is such a big surprise, but he looks nice. Tell us how you met him right now." My mother pulled Erin closer and told us, "He swept me off my feet during my first week in Greece and we knew right away that we belonged together." She turned to me next and asked, "Lisa, what do you think, sweetheart? Do you like him?" I stepped closer to them and my voice came out sharp. "Mom, why did you bring this man into our home without telling any of us first?" She looked confused and asked me, "What was wrong with me, Lisa? Do you know Erin from somewhere?" I glared straight at Erin and told him, "You need to leave our house immediately." My brother said, "Lisa, why are you being like this? You never act this way toward anyone." My sister added, "Yeah, you are scaring us now. What is going on?" Erin just stood there and smiled slow at me. Then he spoke for the first time in a calm voice. "It is nice to meet all of you, especially you, Lisa. I have heard so much about you from your mother. She says you are a very successful lawyer now." My mother pulled me to the side and spoke to me in a calm voice. "Erin is part of the family now, Lisa, and I need you to give him a chance for my sake. This marriage means everything to me and the wedding will happen soon right here in the house. Please be nice to him. I do not want any fights." I told her, "Fine, Mom, I will try, but I do not like this at all. Why did you not call us first?" She hugged me and murmured against my neck, "Thank you, sweetheart. That is all I ask. I just want us all to be happy together." We all sat down for dinner a short time later. My mother asked Erin, "Tell them about the day you proposed to me." Erin looked across the table at me and began, "I took her to the best beach at sunset and got down on one knee. She said yes before I even finished the sentence." My sister clapped, sounding annoyingly giggly, "That is so romantic. Tell us more about the beach. Was it beautiful?" Erin nodded, "It was perfect, just like your mother." My brother asked, "Erin, what do you do for work?" Erin shrugged, throwing slow dark glances at me, "I run several businesses in the city and I plan to take good care of your mother. You do not have to worry about that." I turned to my mother and asked her, "So when is the wedding exactly?" She smiled and said, "In three weeks, right here at the mansion. I want all of you to help plan it. What do you think about the flowers, Lisa?" My palms melted with sweat but I managed to gather the courage to respond, "Here? Why here? I am not happy about any of this." My brother laughed nervously and said, "Come on, Lisa, give the guy a break. He seems cool." My sister added, "Yeah, tell us more, Erin. How did you know Mom was the one?" Erin glanced at me again, everything about it was slow and deliberate. He went on, "When I saw her, I knew I had to have her forever. She makes me feel things I never felt before." My mother blushed, clinging more to him, "Stop it, Erin. You are making me shy in front of the kids. But I love hearing you say that." I turned to Erin, "Do you plan to live here in the house with all of us?" "Yes, if that is okay with everyone. I want to be part of the family," He answered almost immediately, it made me look at him suspiciously. My sister chipped in, "Of course it is okay. We need a man around here again." My brother added, "Yeah, and you look strong. Do you like sports?" Erin smiled, "I do, and we should watch a game together soon." I stayed quiet but every time our eyes met I felt my body react. My nipples pushed hard against my blouse and heat built between my legs. The way my siblings related with this man like they had known him all their life triggered me. After dinner we moved back to the living room. My mother nudged Erin, "Darling, tell them about the boat ride we took in Greece. It was so much fun." Erin laughed and said, "Your mother got seasick at first but then she loved it. We danced on the deck under the stars. I didn't think I was going to have a thing for star dancing until I met your mother, she opened my eyes to a lot of things." My sister was already daydreaming so she itched towards me and muttered, "That sounds amazing. I wish I could have been there." "Erin, do you have any kids from before?" My brother chimed in again, his relentless questions caused my stomach to twist. Erin was loving the attention. "No, but I hope to be a good stepfather to all of you." I was beginning to choke. The laughter was doing a serious number on me and I was on the verge of losing it so I turned to my mother and whispered, "I think I need some air." She glanced at me to be sure that I was feeling okay, "Okay, sweetheart, but come back soon. We still have to talk about the wedding cake flavors." I excused myself and went upstairs for a few minutes, then came back down. Erin stood close to my mother in the corner of the room with his hand resting low on her back. He leaned in to whisper something to her but his eyes stayed locked on me over her shoulder. My mother mumbled, "Erin, you are too sweet. I love you." He kissed her cheeks, "I love you too, Julie." The evening finally came to an end and everyone started to head to their rooms for the night. My mother hugged me tight and whispered, "I hope you will try to get along with Erin for my sake because I need you here until the wedding." I promised her, "I will do my best," even though I knew it was a lie I told to keep the peace. Erin stayed behind in the hallway as I walked toward the stairs and he caught up to me quietly so no one else could see. His body moved close enough that I could smell his scent. He leaned in so his mouth was right next to my ear and his voice came out low and rough. "Careful, little lawyer. You are dripping for the man who is about to fuck your mother in the bed I once fucked you in."Erin's pov Watching Lisa lay beside me gave me so much peace than anything else would have and that was enough for me. Despite the fact that I was getting good at ruining breakfast, I still managed to make it work with her.Thankfully Brandon had dropped some clothes before he left so after I was done showering, I had them on. I needed to make a move today. Sitting around will only make Bruce think he's still in control and that Lisa was hiding from him. When I got out, Lisa was already awake. “Waking up early again?” Her small babyish eyes stared back at with lots of sleep in them. Looking at her, I was dying to have a taste of her before I left but doing that only meant that I won't be leaving at all.“Hey” I got to the bed and kissed her. Her lips laid warm against mine, she wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me closer to her. God, if there wasn't a thing like self-control, I'd be losing myself to this woman every damn time.“Princess, I need to step out today. God, you stil
Lisa's povSleep never truly came. Every time I closed my eyes, I heard the distorted voice from the phone call all over again."You finally found her." It wasn't the words that frightened me, it was the certainty behind them and it shook me to the bones.Whoever had called Erin knew where he was. And knew that he'd found me. It meant someone had been watching us, and somehow, that thought was far more terrifying than Bruce standing outside my apartment.I rolled over in bed for what felt like the hundredth time before finally giving up. The bedroom door was slightly open. Soft morning light slipped through the crack. For a second, I wondered if Erin had managed to get any sleep at all.I quietly climbed out of bed and padded barefoot toward the living room. The apartment was unusually quiet, too quiet. Then I spotted him, he wasn't asleep. Erin stood by the living room window, carefully pulling one corner of the curtain aside with two fingers. His eyes slowly scanned the parking lot
Erin's povMy fist stopped inches away from Bruce's face. God knows I was all in on restructuring his face with my fist, not until Lisa's voice cut through every ounce of rage running through me."Erin!" Bruce remained unnervingly calm. He looked from me to Lisa before straightening his shirt as though nothing had happened. He smirked "I see you've found each other." I grabbed the front of his shirt, eager to beat him to the pump."What the hell are you doing here?" I was getting impatient, I needed to sink my fists into his face so bad that it'll hurt him for days on end He shrugged, simply letting me grab him that way I did. "I came to talk." The bastard was never the one to talk when he always had trash coming out of his mouth."Talk?" I barked out a bitter laugh. "You expect me to believe that after everything you've done?" His expression barely changed. He made that face that threw me into a fit. "Believe whatever helps you sleep at night." I tightened my grip."You've got three
Lisa's pov Bruce stood at the door like a ripper, waiting to take on his victim. How on earth did he find me and how did he even know that I was home? It scared me so much that I couldn't move to let him in.“Aren't you going to let me in?” A grin so dark reached his lips in ways that terrified. I glanced through the corridor, I had every chance to scream and save my life if this visit turns into my murder. But I encouraged myself to be strong.I could grab a knife in a split second and save my life if it turns chaotic. After all, killing Bruce won't be counted as murder but as self defense. I stepped aside from the door. “You have five minutes. Come in.” Bruce smiled like a child who got a special invite to Disney land. He jumped in, his eyes scanning the room like he was searching for something.“Your place is nice. Added new furniture to it?” He smirked, looking at me with those sick eyes that I was dying to sink my fingers into.“State your business and leave.” I told him as I w
Erin's pov I hadn't recovered from the shock yet. Lisa had actually left the house and this dawned on me when I got home and I didn't see her.Brandon had to drop me off so I wouldn't end up doing something that was likely stupid. Something stupid like entering a bar and scattering my lungs with drinks that would kill me later. When I got home, I was numb. I couldn't get my mind off her and it made me so mad. How could she leave like that? Even when I had assured her that I was always going to be there for her. I slid past the main door into the living room, it slammed so loud but I still didn't hear it.I had almost made my way to the stairs when she came curling around me like a snake.“You're home. Welcome—” I stopped to look her dead in the eyes. “You shouldn't be speaking to me. No rights at all, Julie. It'll be best if we both act like we don't live in this prison together.” I made to move but she held me back.“Oh come on Erin. You're being too serious about this and it's sel
Lisa's povI didn't know where I was going. My hands rested on the steering wheel, my eyes fixed on the road ahead, yet I couldn't remember passing half the streets I'd driven through. The conversation with Erin replayed in my head like a song stuck on repeat. My heart pounded at the feeling of it. The words had sounded so cold, so final, like I wasn't returning anymore. But God knew that one more day in that house was going to be the end of me.I tightened my grip on the steering wheel until my fingers hurt. Redness wrapped around my fingers like I had deeped my fingers into hot heat.I wanted to reach for my phone and call him. And tell him that I was joking, that I didn't mean it. That I was only trying to keep him safe. If anything, hanging up that phone had hurt me more than it could ever hurt him.But staying meant waking up every day under the same roof as my mother, wondering what she would destroy next. The thought alone made my chest tighten so much that I blinked back anoth
Erin's pov At the office, I had tried to stay sane. I avoided Bruce's office and everything that would lead me to it. I made sure to stay in my room and send all my messages to Elio. He was smarter and more preserved, compared to me. So he was able to navigate each errand almost without difficult
Lisa's pov “You mean that I should meet Bruce again at the club?” I completed the words to be sure that he understood me clearly. And again, he agreed to it. “Yes Lisa. Go for it.” He confirmed my fears. What was Erin thinking? Earlier in the week, he was hell-bent on tearing Bruce's head off hi
Erin's pov How dare he? How dare that bastard even try to do anything to her? I warned him, I fucking warned him but he didn't listen.I had dropped Lisa at the house and drove straight to a coffee shop to cool off. I needed it, my head was smoking and so was my need to burn that bastard alive.I
Lisa's pov:I could swear that I didn't understand what was happening. I just pressed the brakes and fled like a thief on the run.Erin would be so mad at me. I expect him to be at least because it was all in his plan to seduce Bruce. Only for me to get bundled to a corner for him to penetrate me.
