Iris Jones, the younger daughter of the Jones family is standing on the Altar, taking her vows with Xavier Knight.
"Natasha Jones, do you take Xavier Knight as your lawfully wedded husband" the priest's words felt like a nail on Iris's head. She was not supposed to stand there pretending to be her elder sister Natasha who is the actual bride. No one recognized that the bride under the veil is switched and the original bride is currently lying in the hospital after her miscarriage of a pregnancy they never know existed. Even Natasha was not aware of her pregnancy from a one night stand until the miscarriage. Fate must be cruel, because Natasha miscarried just 15 mins before she was supposed to walk the isle. Blood dripping down her thighs and almost ruined the wedding dress which she was supposed to put on. "I do" those two syllables felt like a betrayal. To Xavier, and to her boyfriend Chase. Baron Jones has built the reputation of their family with his hardwork and dedication. A scandal like this would make that reputation to go down faster than a stack of cards. Because, Natasha was the smart and perfect daughter, and the daughter who is supposed to become the next CEO of the Jones group. Iris is the soft and gentle daughter. Baron Jones used to feel that his two daughters are his pride. After Natasha's wedding was arranged with The Xavier Knight, the Jones reputation skyrocketed. Xavier Knight, the man who's names whispers fear. The person who defines power. The same man who pinched her chin over her veil and kissed her lips as if its too troublesome to lift her veil. His mouth is set in a straight line, as if attending his own marriage is too much to ask for. The man who just look at you, but feels like he is looking into your very soul. "I now pronounce you as husband and wife" the priest's words are drowned by the thunderous applause of the guests. Everyone is an elite here, dressed to their nines. Time blurred by as Iris stood there stiffly while murmuring a polite thank you to everyone who came to congratulate the couple. Throughout all this, Xavier didn't said a word to her. She considered that her blessing. She cannot afford to raise his suspicion. She has to hold this charade until Natasha comes back from hospital. After that, she can go back to being Iris Jones while Natasha handles her husband. The ring on her finger felt too cold and too heavy, or it might be her guilt. "Mr. Knight, its time" Xavier Knights assistant, Luis Carson informed his boss. Iris stilled. Her heart started to pound like a drum. She glanced around the crowd with desperation. Natasha should have come back by now. When she didn't move, Xavier grabbed her by her forearm and escorted her to his waiting car. The car ride to the hotel where the newly weds are supposed to consumate the marriage was filled with silence. Iris was coiled up tightly like a spring. 'Natasha promised that she would be the one to spend the night with her husband. Then why is she not here? Where is mom and dad?' Iris though as her palms started to sweat with tension. Too soon they reached the hotel. Xavier escorted her to the presidential suite where the room is dimly lit, fit for what was to happen here. The calming aroma couldn't calm Iris. She is on the verge of hyperventilating. "Your sister had food poisoning. Your dad called me. You can use my phone to talk to your family" Xavier Knights deep voice rang in the otherwise quiet room. Iris almost jumped with fright. Xavier dissappeared into the bathroom, while Iris hurriedly dialed her father. She doesn't remember where she forgot her own phone. "Iris, I am so sorry" Candace Jones whispered the moment the call was connected. Both Baron and Candace loves both their daughters the same. That apology was filled with so much guilt and helplessness, that Iris's heart palpitated. She is getting a very bad feeling. "Mom?" she whispered. Her question laced with so many questions, that she doesn't know where to start. "Natasha lost too much blood before we could bring her to the hospital undetected. She is still unconscious. Doctors said, that she should stay away from intimacy for atleast a month" Candace said on a chocked whisper. "Mom?" Iris felt hopeless. She could guess where this is going. Marrying Xavier while pretending as Natasha is in itself a betrayal. But this.. "Iris, Dad wanted to call Xavier and come clean about everything. But we cannot afford the consequences. The Knights demanded a Virgin Daughter-in-law. We all know Natasha is not a virgin. Xavier Knight would find out soon if he sleeps with her. But you are a virgin, if you could pretend as your sister for one night, everything will be settled" Candace murmured, sounding stressed and anxious. Iris bit her lip to stop the tears. If Baron really comes clean about all of this, then the Knights would make sure to ruin the Jones family. Xavier is known to be ruthless. What they did is not a mistake, but a betrayal. And he would never forgive the Jones. But sleeping with Xavier? "But mom?" Iris whispered. The reason why Baron arranged Natasha's wedding with Xavier is because the Jones group is in legal trouble. One of the shareholders did something shady using the company name, now the entire company is under the lens. Baron Jones could go to prison. Only the Knights name is shielding the Jones from completely going bankrupt overnight. Candace didn't reply for a minute. She knows what's riding on this wedding. Offending the Knights would be the last nail on the Jones coffin. "Dad would go to prison. We will be on the streets by morning. Everyone would mock us, and we would become homeless if not dead" Candace painted the picture of their near future if Iris didn't help them. Iris knows that there is no other way. If there was, Baron wouldn't have arranged this marriage in the first place. She wanted to refuse. But the thought of watching Baron being escorted by the cops made her stop. "Even though you didn't give birth to me, you raised me with care. This may be my chance to repay you and dad. I will pretend as Natasha for one night. I will break up with Chase tomorrow" Iris whispered trying to swallow her own tears. "Iris.." Candace is openly crying now. But what can they do? If its keeping up with the facade or watching Baron Jones in the prison, then Iris would pretend as Natasha for one night and give her virginity to the last man she should be giving it to. She disconnected the call when she heard the shower being turned off. She never thought that she would lose her virginity to her brother-in-law. Chase's face flashed in her mind. His loving smile, his caring nature. Her heart ached when she remembered what she is doing now."Ahh.." Iris hissed. She looked down to find the strap of her heels broken. That twisted her ankle slightly. Xavier rushed to check what had happened. He bent down on one knee to check her ankle. "Don't," Iris told him. Because a man of his stature, a man everyone around here is looking up to. A man for whose attention even millionaires have to take an appointment, now he is touching her feet without an ounce of ego or hesitation. He glanced up. "You don't want me to touch you?" he asked with a hint of hesitation. He clearly misunderstood her words. "You are the Xavier Knight. Your reputation doesn't allow you to touch a woman's feet in front of so many people," she explained. His eyes turned gentler. "Even if I am the sky, I will still bend for you," he replied softly. Her heart skipped a beat, and her stomach fluttered with butterflies. She saw how he lifted her skirt and saw the broken strap. He touched her ankle, where she twisted. He grabbed her calf and helped her
"Mr. Knight? What have you done?" James cried out in alarm. Naomi and Tasha were equally stunned. Tasha is standing beside Adam, while Naomi is standing near her brother. Neither of the women had any delusions about whom Xavier would support. Xavier didn't bother explaining his reasons. Iris was seen looking at the handprint on Laila's cheek. She is still unable to understand where those emotions surged from. Just looking at Laila acting all coy with Xavier made something inside her snap with anger. She reacted on a primal instinct. She merely felt disgusted when she was all over Adil. But with Xavier, she became territorial. 'Damn, I was jealous. How much did I use to love this man?' she wondered. All the guests looked between Xavier and the Morgans in shock. Clearly, Xavier is standing up for the Starks, contrary to what the Morgans assumed until a few moments ago. Xavier didn't bother himself with the Morgans. His eyes are fixed on Iris, who looks surprised. The flash of her
"Mr. Knight," Adil and James rushed to greet Xavier. But Xavier's eyes searched and landed on Iris, who was standing beside Adam. Her eyes were on him, too. A myriad of emotions played on her face until they settled between relief and longing. Xavier thought he had imagined it. Because recently, Iris hasn't wanted to do anything with him. She blocked him on every social platform. What made it worse was the revulsion in her gaze in the hospital that day. That hurt Xavier as nothing else could. Xavier forced his attention to Adil, the groom Iris is getting engaged to. He hates Adil and is even jealous of the man because Iris chose him. "Congratulations," Xavier murmured coldly. He sounded more like he wanted to be anywhere but here. But Xavier is a glutton for pain. So he came to increase his pain by watching his wife slowly slipping away from him. "Thank you, Mr. Knight," Adil beamed. James leaned closer to Adil to whisper in his ear. "Get engaged to Iris. I don't want to lose fac
"Fine, this engagement is off. I don't want to marry a snob like her, either. Now, based on the agreement, half of your Starks group belongs to the Morgans," Adil declared angrily. "Adil, what are you doing? Have you lost your mind? Don't say things like that," Laila chimed in. Adam is pissed, while Iris looks calm. "Laila, didn't you see their attitude? I am their son-in-law. If they treat me this way before marriage, then what respect will they give me after I marry her?" Adil replied angrily, as if he were the one wronged here. Iris smiled sarcastically. "What? Are we being unreasonable? Is that what you are saying here? You have me serve Champagne to your friend, saying it's a custom. He touched me without my permission, and you didn't care. She came here flaunting the dress you bought for her, mocking my choice. But you still wanted me to apologize to her, and I don't want to participate in that conversation. Now you want to cancel the engagement, saying we are unreasonabl
The next evening, Iris is seen standing beside Adil, who was chatting away with someone Iris doesn't recognize. He didn't bother to introduce her; she didn't bother to ask. She is wearing the silver dress she liked, and Adil is wearing a blue tux. He barely acknowledged her since she arrived. If not for Mr. Morgan, she would not be willing to stand by Adil's side like a prop. Adil and the entire Morgan family look happy. Benjamin and Catherine kept glancing at Iris. They both look guilty. Naomi is flirting with Adam, while Tasha is yet to arrive. "Adil Morgan, long time no see," a man in his late twenties greeted Adil with a huge grin. He looked like an Italian with a French beard. Adil smiled brightly. "Neil, how have you been?" Adil shook hands with his friend. "I am great. Finally, you are getting hitched. Will you not introduce your fiancée?" Neil looked at Iris with interest. "Of course, this is Iris Stark, my fiancée." Adil wrapped his arm around her waist, as if he were
In the Stark residence, Iris didn't bother to greet anyone in the house. Catherine, Benjamin, and even Adam stood there, waiting for her. But she didn't spare them a glance. She walked straight into her room. She doesn't want to be rude to anyone. Especially not her parents. But the fact that they decided her happiness with a man who feels that a wife should always compromise on everything to the point of what she would want to wear. Her impending marriage is making her feel suffocated right before it starts. 'What if I don't get engaged to Adil tomorrow? Will Dad be able to cancel their agreement without losing the shares?' she wondered. Xavier's face flashed in her mind. The unmasked pain in his gaze when he heard about her engagement is still making her feel guilty. 'You are a good man. Too good to be true' she thought, thinking about what kind of relationship she might have had with him. That's when a knock sounded on the door. "Iris, can I come in?" Adam's voice rang fro

Iris stood awkwardly to aside, while Xavier was standing infront of a man who looked old and thin. His left side body is paralyzed, while understood from their conversation that his right side and his left leg recovered from his paralysis just an hour ago. And that old man is none other than Edward
"Let me help you up" the last man she wanted to see at that moment offered to help. Iris could hear her own heartbeat. Its pounding loudly and erratically. She is so embarrassed, that her eyes started to water. "I am sorry. I don't what happened last night. I had a fever and then I woke up in you
"Kitten" he muttered, looking torn as to what to do. At this point, she is tugging at her clothes frantically. Her eyes looked dilated. When her top hit the stairs leaving her only in her bra, he decided what to do. He lifted her up over his shoulders and carried her to his room. "Brother-in-law,
