LOGINI heard Vaelor's ringtone in the hallway as I dashed out of the doctor's office.
“Make sure she's not stressed. No heavy work, and no intercourse for three months.”
Vaelor stood afar, his black coat draped on Clara's shoulder as a doctor instructed them.
Clara is pregnant?!
Catching a glimpse of that secret felt like a brutal awakening.
How could I still harbor any illusions about him?
He announced the marriage for her. He gave her my necklace. And now… he’s even gotten her pregnant?
I hurriedly slipped the ultrasound photo into my bag and turned instantly to leave, but then our eyes met.
“Kimberly—” he called, his voice barely above a whisper. “What are you doing here?” He frowned, stepping forward with Clara beside him like a handbag.
“Stomachache.” I lie, resting my hands on my flat stomach where our child is growing.
My eyes immediately narrowed to the ultrasound photo in Clara's hand. The granny black and white photo seemed to shine brighter under the hospital light.
My blood ran cold.
Vaelor's face went pale. “Kimberly, I can explain—”
“Vaelor!” Clara yelled, clutching his arm tightly when he tried to move closer. “You promised me.” Her voice turned sharp.
I saw Vaelor's face switch between confusion and regret. How his hand twitched before turning into a fist.
Clara rested her head on his shoulder. She whispered something to his ear, and his hands dropped beside him, slacking.
My husband stood trapped between two women. And I could see regret clearly written in those piercing eyes as he stared at me.
Before they could see the hurt in my eyes, I turned around and bolted out.
“Kimberly—” Vaelor called, voice dripping with hurt, and I never looked back.
Cold air hit my skin the moment I stepped outside. I remain standing for minutes trying to catch my breath.
Three wasted years of being his wife.
And now— a baby.
My hand rested on my flat stomach. I'm carrying the Alpha's heir, a secret I will carry with me to Lincolnton.
A secret he would never know.
And by the time he finds out… it will be far too late.
******
My phone buzzed with a message from my supervisor concerning the research project in Lincolnton. I've been given a special privilege and a position as their top researcher.
The position would fully cover my living expenses. This offer is only for me because my professor spoke highly of me to them, and they've gone through my qualifications and found out I'm the best fit for the job.
I should have felt happy.
Instead, my hand slowly moved to my stomach.
Because I was twelve weeks pregnant with my ex-husband’s child.
Not everyone knows I'm the Alpha's wife, except a few family members.
This made my divorce process and moving easier for me.
I went ahead to fill out the form specifying that I'm pregnant. I might no longer have a chance, but that's not a reason to give up now.
Just three days until the divorce is finalized.
A knock came on my door.
I opened the door and saw one of Vaelor's guards standing at the door.
“The Alpha wants to see you.”
I frowned. Vaelor, what could he possibly want to see me about now?
I came out of my room and met my husband leaning against his SUV.
Vaelor stood a few steps away, tall and imposing as always. His broad shoulders filled the space around him, his dark hair falling slightly over his forehead the way it always had. His sharp silver eyes, the same ones that once softened whenever they looked at me, now seemed distant and unreadable.
Everything about him was still painfully familiar—his strong jaw, the quiet confidence in the way he stood, the faint crease between his brows when he was thinking. I had spent three years memorizing every detail of the man who no longer looked at me the same way. Even standing still, there was something dangerous about him, something untouchable.
I quickly looked away, denying any trace of feelings I still had for this man. Three years of being married, yet my body reacted like we're newlyweds. After all that he did to me, my body shouldn't react to him this way. This is the most forbidden craving I wouldn't accept.
“Kimberly,” he called, removing his sunglasses. I felt butterflies in my stomach when my eyes met his tempting silver eyes.
“Date this evening, Skye hotel.”
My throat tightened. The last time Vaelor asked me on a date, he left me alone in the cold to go sort business with Clara.
“Fine.”
Vaelor's eyes widened slightly in surprise. Even my robotic reply surprised me. Why so eager to eat with this man alone?
Maybe because this will be our last.
And it's better to follow up with everything he said without being suspicious because Vaelor will notice and suspect any slight change and weakness. I can't afford any mistakes at this critical moment now that the child is involved.
Just three days to endure. I reminded myself.
Kimberly's povI clocked out of work expecting an uneventful night, my kids were already fast asleep they usually were by the time I got back. Sometimes they would try to stay awake for me, but that would just lead to them falling asleep in the living room and Martha and I taking them up to their rooms. The maid was still coming but I will have to let her go soon because Martha's hand is quickly recovering and soon we will be able to take off the cast. When I arrived home this time, the kids were already up in their room, so far Vaelor had been able to restore 30% of what had been taken away from the house. He couldn't just bring back the old things because they had already been transported over to the Red zone, and it wouldn't be wise to return them back to the Green zone so they had to remain there and we needed replacements. "I want to pay for some of it," I had told him mostly out of courtesy and he understood this, insisting that he wanted to pay for everything because it was

She's the reason my Carolina is gone.” Mother tried to attack her but I held her between my grip.“Mother, calm down.” I turned her so she's facing me.“You caused it. You chased my daughter in-law away.” Mother started hitting me on my chest with her fist. I didn't stop her. I let her hit me as much as she wants because I deserve even worse.I let her hit me as much as she wants because I deserve it.I deserve every punishment for the sake of Carolina.“Take Ella to the guest room.” I said to the servants as I took mother away when she insisted that Ella won't continue to stay in that room.It was the room that Carolina occupied before.Ella had moved her things away and packed in the moment she heard Carolina left.I
Kimberley’s POV“Kimberly, are those children mine?”It was as though all the air inside of my lungs had been sucked out with a vacuum, but I stilled the reactions on my face so it would not betray the truth to him."Why are you bringing this up again? We have already discussed this. It was a short relationship that didn’t go anywhere—nothing to do with you," I said, stepping closer and trying to seem confident. "I don’t care if this is mind-blowing to you, but you’re not the only man in my life. What did you think was going to happen? That I’d spend the last five years with a lock between my legs expecting some kind of reunion with you?"The stifling silence that followed told me that there was some honesty in my words, and I spat out a laugh. "Sorry, Alpha Vaelor. I hate to disappoint you, but that’s not what happened. The children are anything but yours."He seemed unable to meet my eyes. Then, in a frustrated tone, he said, "But one of them has my eyes. One of the girls, she..."H
Kimberly's POV I was only by myself for a few minutes before Vaelor came in.In my entire life I had not seen somebody so relieved to see me before. Before I could say anything or even ask him any questions at all, he had come over to me and then he pulled me into his embrace, instantly, I felt like I was melting against him but I had to build up some muscles immediately to make sure that I did not start purring in his arms. By the time I had collected myself, he finally pulled away but not completely. Slowly, his hand slid over mine and he took a look at it before returning to his side. There was already a chair propped next to his bed telling me that he had come here often to check up on me and that warmed up something inside of me that I was trying so hard to keep cold and frozen.“I know you're probably curious to know what happened, maybe you should rest a little bit more…I'm going to call a servant to get you some food to eat, I don't think you've eaten anything. You seem to ha
Kimberly's POV What I thought would just be a minor disagreement between my kids was gradually turning into something more, Vaelor left after a few more hours and Rosalie had mostly remained by his side during that time. When it was time for supper she said that she didn't want to sit on the same table with her brother, I told her that it wasn't right and both of them needed to share the table together because they were family. At first I was still taking it a bit slightly because my triplets hardly ever argued with each other and even if they did as children they quickly forgot about it and were back to playing again. But I had not realized just how much the experiences had begun to age and mature them, more than how they should be at 5 going to 6. Rosalie had refused to touch her food even if it was her favorite spaghetti and meatballs, when I probed her to know if there was anything I could do she said no. “Nate was mean…Nate has to say sorry!”Nate refused to apologize, and I
Kimberly’s pov “Who wants lemonade?" Martha said and the children squealed happily.Once life gets so hectic it's good to find joy in the little moments, if I have learned anything from the roller coaster of events that is in my life I usually have to steal this moments and crushed them close to my chest because before long something comes riding out of the horizon, and I'll have to tackle it all over again before another brief interval of peace. Today was one of such days, I had clocked out extra early, that is by 12:00 noon. Truthfully I had been mentioning to Vaelor that the whole process of refilling the house of the things that Clara had transported over to the red zone took a long time, it was just a casual comment and I did not really expect anything to come out of it. But that was until he told me that I should clock out early and we will take care of it today. Everything had already been delivered in boxes and those that hadn't worn in the truck outside, I didn't have to l
Kimberly's pov"The Alpha would like to speak to you," I was in the cafeteria, trying to get some rest when velvet showed up. She walked stiffly towards me, the air instantly clicking into an awkward mood the second she was in my vicinity. We had not made up and from the looks of things I'm not sure
Vaelor's POV "Isn't Dr dove supposed to be here right now?" Two days passed since Clara tried to end her own life, fortunately a failed attempt but the after effects of her actions were not lost on me and each step I took felt like I was working on eggshells while making sure that not even one of t

Vaelor's POV"I've already told you this before, but you don't have any right to know about the children. So what if I didn't tell you the truth? What difference does it make?"Suddenly, it feels like all my lies are crumbling right on my head. He shouldn't have gone to figure that out. He shouldn't
