登入ASTRA“Tell me why I shouldn't just kill you where you stand?” He asked, his eyes darkened and his teeth bared. He had his hand wrapped around my throat.I tried not to show I was scared. This wasn't the Nate I knew. This, this was entirely different. This was the true Alpha King. And he didn't like me.“I'm not here for any trouble.” I began, “I'm here because I need your help.’He didn’t respond immediately. I could feel him judging. He let go of my neck and took a step back. “You want an alliance,” he said at last. “But alliances are built on trust, and right now, I don't have even an inkling of trust for you.”I saw George and Leonard emerge from the shadows as well as a few other guards. He must have thought that this was going to be a trap. I could understand that.I swallowed hard. I knew this was coming. “I understand,” I said. “I know my position and I know how this looks. But I swear to you, I’m not playing a game. I’m sick and tired of the games and the lies. I want somethi
NATEThere was a knock on the door a little while after we entered the office. A guard hurried towards us and bowed. He handed a missive to George who was the closest to him.I was seated in my chair while George and Leonard when on the other side of the desk. But, I also think the guard was scared of giving something directly to me. The missive was sealed. George recognized the pattern on the wax seal.“It's a missive. From the North,” he said, handing it to me.“Ragnarok?” I asked as I took it from him and unrolled it. I furrowed my brows as I read the words scribbled on it. “It's from Astra,” I said.Leonard and George exchanged a look. “What does it say?” George asked.“Gemma didn't side with Ragnarok. After her betrayal, Ragnarok rounded off the rebels, including Gemma. He has her locked up in his fortress,” I said, reading it.“I knew it. Gemma would never have betrayed us,” Leonard said with a small smile.“Yes,” George agreed. “but she's still in danger. What does Astra want?”
NATEI had called a council meeting to address the unrest from the rumours about Gemma siding with the barbarians of the North.Twelve sets of eyes stared at me as I sat at the head of the table, George and Leonard flanking me on either side. The council members moved uneasily in their seats. I had to remind myself not to let my impatience show. I only cared about Gemma. I could smell their doubt and fear.“The rumors are nothing but that—rumors,” I began. “The White Wolf has not joined the North. She remains on our side and any claims otherwise are false.”A murmur rose up through the room, many of the council members exchanging glances. I caught the narrowed eyes of one of the councillors, Donovan. He leaned forward. “And what proof do you have of this, Your Majesty? You assure us, but assurance is hardly enough when we have so much at stake. This is the mythical White Wolf.”I held back a growl. Donovan was a fool to challenge me like this in front of the others. I could feel Leona
ASTRAMy mind raced as I tried to think of what he could have uncovered. Matteo and I had been careful. He had gotten the letters and burnt them in a metal bin in my room. We hadn’t left anything behind or so I thought. Or, did one of the scouts throw us in?“What kind of traces?” I asked, forcing my voice to sound almost bored.Emmy’s eyes moved to mine, and for a moment, I could swear he saw right through me. “Oh, just some remnants of communication. It seems that someone has been sending messages to certain individuals in the northern villages; stirring up unrest and encouraging rebellion.”They were going to know it's me.Ragnarok’s jaw tightened, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the edge of the table. “Do you know who?” he demanded.Emmy hesitated for just a fraction of a second, but it was enough to make my heart beat to quicken.“Not yet, my lord,” he admitted, “but I have some leads. I’ve traced the messages back to a few individuals. I think they've been quite vocal a
ASTRAIt was time to lie.I leaned in closer and lowered my voice. “I’ve been hearing whispers in the halls. Some of the guards who were stationed at the east tower have been acting strangely. I think they might know something.” I said. I was spinning a tale but I was going to go for it.He raised an eyebrow. “The east tower, you say? That's interesting. I hadn’t considered that.”“Just a thought,” I said, trying to sound casual. I didn't want him to suspect that anything was afoot. “But since we're both hunting down the rumor mongers, I could look into it. See if there’s anything worth pursuing.”Emmy stroked his chin in thought. “Perhaps or maybe I should investigate that myself. You know, I’ve never been one to trust rumors. I prefer to see things with my own eyes.” He said.I felt panic rise in my chest. I messed up. Why did I bring the east tower? The east tower was where we kept the real letter Ragnarok had sent. I knew I should have burnt the letters immediately after I got the
ASTRAThat was an off thing to say.I quirked my brow in question but, I nodded. This was it. This was our chance to save Nic and the others and make things right. As I turned to leave, I felt a need to say something more. “Gemma,” I called, turning back to look at her.“Yes?”“I know I’ve done terrible things and I know I can’t change the past. But I promise you, I’ll do whatever it takes to make this right. For all of us.”She stared at me for a moment before she finally nodded. “We’ll see about that. Prove it with your actions and not just your words.”With that, I turned and left the room. I took a deep breath. I had made my choice. Now, I had to see it through.I found Matteo leaning against the wall, arms crossed. He stood a while away from Gemma's room. He looked up as I approached. “What’s going on?” he asked.I took a deep breath. “We’re going to need to move. Gemma has agreed to help us. She asked me to reach out to Nate,” I said. “There’s a plan but it’s risky.”He raised a
GEMMAI swallowed hard and turned my head to get a glimpse of him. Not who I was expecting, my enemy! He must be joking. The werewolf king would never be my second chance mate.He helped me stand straight and took his hand to my neck with his face close to me. "You are stubborn, aren't you? You lef

GEMMAI thought he would lie to me or something but I didn't feel anybody on me. I slowly opened my eyes and caught him staring at me with his arms folded on his chest. I scrunched up my face in disgust knowing he was scrutinizing me. Not that I could see his eyes moving away from my face, but he i
