Ayla’s POV

My knees give out completely.

I slide down the alcove stone cold wall, slumping onto the blood-slicked floor as raw, undiluted terror paralyzes my limbs.

The metallic scent of fresh gore fills my lungs with every heavy, shallow breath I take. My body trembles so violently that my teeth chatter in a horrifying click , echoing off the ancient granite walls of the underground chamber.

Three men. Three living, breathing humans reduced to lifeless skeletons in the span of a few heartbeats

Ayla’s POVMy knees give out completely.I slide down the alcove stone cold wall, slumping onto the blood-slicked floor as raw, undiluted terror paralyzes my limbs. The metallic scent of fresh gore fills my lungs with every heavy, shallow breath I take. My body trembles so violently that my teeth chatter in a horrifying click , echoing off the ancient granite walls of the underground chamber.Three men. Three living, breathing humans reduced to lifeless skeletons in the span of a few heartbeats. And their souls… I watched those glowing, ethereal wisps of life force ripped straight from their chests, swallowed whole into the gap ing abyss of a nightmare.TAP.The undeniable, heavy sound of an obsidian claw hitting the stone floor shatters the silence.I lift my watery gaze, my vision blurred by a veil of hot tears. The massive, nine-foot Lycan beast takes a slow, deliberate step toward me. Shadow magic writhes around its dense fur like a sea of snakes. The air in the chamber grows suf

Ayla’s POVI stare down at the written words in the handwriting I clearly remember. The content leaves me on a brink of absolute shock. They were not my real parents. They found me in the woods, abandoned as a baby. The golden-chained pendant around my neck isn’t ordinary either. It is an artifact made by a powerful witch to seal my true form.I am thrown into a deep wave of confusion. How is this possible? My mother also said if I ever need help, I am to go to the Moon Shade Pack, her birth pack before she married my father.I stare down at the box, a weird carving etched onto its surface. According to the letter, I’ll only be able to open the box when my powers are fully awakened. This is insane. The sudden sound of heavy footsteps averts my attention from the unbelievable words in the paper. I snap my head toward the direction of the sound to see the driver who always brought me to and from campus walking toward me in long strides. I quickly put the box and the letter into my bag

Ayla’s POV The heavy double doors to the suite swings open. The sound of Heavy, dragging footsteps echo across the hardwood floor, making my heart stop. Caleb — Lucian’s personal assistant — steps into the room, hauling a figure behind him. The woman looks disheveled, her dress torn and her long brown hair matted to her face. Caleb shoves her roughly, she stumbles, collapsing to her knees at the foot of the bed. She shifts weakly, lifting her head slowly as the bright light of the chandelier shines on her face. I freeze in absolute shock. My breath hitching into a choked gasp. "Sarah?" I whisper, my voice sounding very timid compared to heavy thumping of my heart. It is her. The same warm, gentle woman who saved from the lonely road after I was pushed down that cliff. The woman who brought me — a total stranger — into her home, nursed me back to life until I was finally strong enough to stand on my feet. Sarah blinks rapidly through her tangled hair, her weak, tired eyes wide

Ayla’s POVThe moment my shoes hit the damp grass, my instincts scream at me to turn back. The morning air is thick with mists , dissolving into the towering, shadowy wall of ancient pine trees. The forest looks ominous, dark, and impenetrable — a place where sunlight barely touches the forest floors.I have to try. I have to. If I stay here, Lucian will break me until there’s absolutely nothing left of me.I break into a swift jog, picking up my pace toward the dark shelters of the trees. Every split second spent in the open feels like an eternity, as if dozens of unseen eyes are watching me from the high windows of the mansion.I persist, taking sharp, calculated steps until the shadow of the canopy swallows me whole. The temperature in the woods drops instantly. The smell of pine and damp earth fills the air, the ground crisscrossed with slippery roots, thick patches of thorns and dense underbrush that tears at the hem of my dress as I push deeper. My strides increase, the sun fil

Ayla’s POVI don’t sleep for even a split second. The silence in the penthouse suite is tormenting. The only sound that can be heard is the low hum of the air conditioning, and the distant rumbling of the city far below. I lie on the edge of the massive bed, staring numbly at the ceiling as the hours go by.My body feels different. The fever caused by the shadow venom is completely gone, leaving behind only a faint, dull ache in my throat where Lucian’s claws had torn my skin.He forced his blood down my throat to save my life. He cured me from his own lethal poison, only to coldly remind me that I am nothing more than a debt he intends to collect.Deep inside my mind, my wolf, Nova, remains frustratingly silent. It’s as if she has never been there at all.'Why did you let his blood inside us? I whisper into the void of my own mind. 'Why didn’t you fight him?'Silence. Not even a nudge. Not even a soft growl. She accepted his blood as if it belonged inside us all along. The first pale

Ayla’s POV“Poisoned?” The word rasps out of my throat, raw and disbelieving. “How — how could I be poisoned?”My head spins as a violent wave of dizziness crashes over me. The air in the penthouse bedroom fills stiff and hot as it fills my lungs. A fierce fire churns beneath my skin, spreading through my veins like boiling liquid. Sweat slicks my temples and my knees tremble so hard I can barely stand.Lucian’s dark eyes narrow, watching the fierce flush spread up my chest and neck. He slowly lifts his hand, his thumb brushing over the bruised skin of my throat where his claws sank in last night.“My claws,” he murmurs, his voice a low, terrifying rumble that vibrates through the walls. “They carry a lethal, demonic venom when my wolf takes control. You were infected the moment I broke your skin.”I gasp, instantly moving away from him and the wall, my breathing accelerating. “Venom?”“Shadow-wolf venom,” Lucian says taking slow, deliberate steps closer completely trapping me in his

Ayla’s POV The moment the words left my mouth, it felt like I was split in two halves with a sword. My body trembled, my chest tightening so hard that it was difficult to breathe. I coughed up blood again, my body weak as I slumped to the ground. Julian was obviously still in pain, but he was a

Ayla’s POV “Mine!” The word rang in my ears like the sound of a bell. I lifted my head up and turned around. A man stood behind me—blond hair, golden eyes, tall and handsome. He was dressed in a different manner, I knew he was not a member of my pack. “Mate!” He growls again. And I was sur

Ayla’s POV “Who are you“ I asked again as the shadow rushed forward, revealing a masked man. Suddenly, a bright light gleamed from my necklace. • Claimed By The Shadow King: The Betrayed Alpha Heir.   Chapter 1

Ayla’s POV The air in the room went still as I stared at my father’s lifeless body, an unreadable expression on my face. I refused to cry. I refused to give the pack the satisfaction of seeing me vulnerable—like they had always called me. Worthless. Weak. Disgrace. “He is gone my lady. My cond
