“Zev!” Diana cried out. “You can’t deny that what we have is real. If you’re determined to stay with Kira, then reject our mate bond first, and I’ll leave this place! Don’t keep me waiting or force me to watch you choose someone else while pretending you still care about me!”

For several heartbeats, silence settled over the clearing. It seemed Zev had no answer.

“But the executioners…” he finally muttered. “They’ll hunt us down.”
