LOGINChapter 6
Eliana's P.O.V
“My baby!” I choked up in tears.
What happened to my daughter? Why was she running a high temperature? Her breathing was ragged.
“911! I'll call 911!” I quickly dialed 911, and in the next second, a female voice responded, “911, what's your emergency?”
“Oh, please help! My daughter's really sick! She's got a super high fever and she's unconscious!” I said in one breath, my voice laced with panic.
“Okay, ma'am, stay calm. Where are you located?” the 911 operator asked.
“I'm at 222 Oak Street... no, wait, it's Stone… Platinum Street.” I cried. My mind was a mess, and I kept stuttering. “She's getting worse!” I sobbed.
“Okay, help is on the way. Can you tell me her age and what's happening with her?” the 911 operator asked again.
“She's seventeen... she was fine yesterday, but now she's hot... like, really hot, and won't wake up!” I cried and sniffled through every word. Even if miracle workers told me to calm down, I wouldn't even let them finish before wailing in sorrow.
“Paramedics are coming. Is she breathing okay?
“Y-yes... she's breathing, but it's fast…”
“Stay with me. Try to keep her cool, remove extra clothes, and give her space. Help's almost there.”
“Please hurry…” I cried.
“They're arriving, ma'am. Stay strong.”
I did as I was told, and in less than 10 minutes, the ambulance arrived. They rushed Leah to the ER, and I paced around outside the door, impatiently.
“Lord, please let my daughter be okay,” I chanted.
I couldn't be at ease until I hear that my daughter was okay. My heart felt heavy, and my head, light. I just remembered that I hadn't eaten since last night. I was dizzy, and I felt the need to sit down, but as soon as I took a step forward, I blacked out.
***
I opened my eyes and saw myself in a ward. I quickly stood up and realized that a drip was connected to the needle inserted at the back of my hand. The nurse who had entered the room rushed to me, just in time to stop me from removing the needle.
“Be careful, Miss,” she said softly.
“Where's my daughter?” I asked, almost in a whisper.
“Ma'am, the doctor said you should eat, rest, and avoid thoughts that could cause your heart rate to…”
“Where's my daughter?” I interrupted the nurse fiercely, staring her in the eye, though my vision was a bit blurry—I was feeling dizzy again.
“Calm down, ma'am. She's now in the regular ward, and her health is stable,” the nurse responded.
“That's good,” I breathed in relief.
“Ma'am, the doctor said you should eat something after waking up.” She said, setting the food on the patient's table.
Since Leah was okay, and not far away from me, I decided to eat first. I couldn't let her see me weak, otherwise she would cry and blame herself, sulking like a baby. The thought of her brought a smile to my face. Whenever I skipped meals, she'd cry and blame herself for not taking good care of me.
After eating, I changed my outfit, and just before I stepped out, the nurse stepped forward, fidgeting with her fingers. From the look on her face, I knew that she wanted to say something.
“What is it?” I asked.
“I, I, it's nothing…” she stuttered.
I didn't think much about it, and went to Leah's ward, with the nurse’s guidance.
I opened the door and found Leah still sleeping. I sat on a chair by the bedside and arranged the stray strands of hair on her face, then caressed her hand. Her temperature had stabilized, and the heart monitor beeped at a steady rate.
“Did she look for me when she woke up?” I asked the attending nurse.
“She's stable now,” the nurse said, not answering my question.
“But?” I pressed. I hoped the remaining part of her sentence wasn't what I was thinking…
“She hasn't woken up all morning.”
She dropped the bombshell, and boom — my heart shattered.
“What do you mean?” I froze, turning to the nurse. I very well understood what she meant, but I didn't want to accept it.
“Your daughter is still unconscious, ma'am,” she repeated.
Before I could pounce on the nurse and bombard her with beatings and questions, I felt Leah's hands twitching. I quickly glanced at her, holding her hand gently with both my hands.
“Baby… Mommy's here,” I whispered.
At that moment, she opened her eyes, and I couldn't contain my joy. But, the smile on my face disappeared when she closed her eyes and didn't open it in the next five seconds.
“Baby…” I called softly.
Beep! beep!! beep!! beep!!
The heart monitor beeped faster, signifying that her heart rate had increased.
“What's going on?!” I yelled in panic.
“Ma'am, please wait outside,” the nurse said, leading me out.
“No! I have to be with my daughter! Let me go!” I screamed and struggled with the nurse, but I was too weak, giving her the upper hand.
“Your daughter will be fine, ma'am—she’s in safe hands,” the nurse reassured me amidst my screams and struggles.
The doctors began their job, and about one and a half hours later, I was allowed to see Leah.
I stayed with her, sobbing silently while telling her to wake up soon until I fell asleep by her bedside.
I woke up when I felt a movement on the bed. Leah groaned as she tried to get up.
“Careful, baby,” I quickly supported her.
After helping her sit up, I quickly rushed to pour her a glass of water and rang for the nurse.
“Mom?” she called, and I quickly responded.
“I'm here, baby.”
“Is this a hospital? What are we doing here?”
And suddenly, I realized she wasn’t asking because she was confused — she was asking because she didn’t remember.
Chapter 39 Leah's P.O.V "Are you sick?" I heard him ask even before the door had fully opened."Leah?” It seemed he was expecting to see someone else, because surprise flashed across his face.“Why were you ringing the bell like that?" he asked, making way for me to come in."If I hadn't, would you have opened the door?" I asked, but not moving an inch. It was obvious I had no intention to go in. I was angry for no reason in particular… perhaps at everything? I wasn't sure."What? You came to my house just to talk at the door?" he asked.I reluctantly stepped in, and he closed the door behind him."This is the first time you're visiting, and you didn't inform me beforehand, so I didn't prepare anything. Is there anything you want? I'll go get it for you.""No need," I said a little too fast, and he paused."What's wrong?" he asked."I came here to talk," I said.He sat on the couch and casually draped an arm around my shoulders."About what?" he asked.I removed his hand from my sh
Chapter 38 Leah's P.O.V “Ouch!” Nora winced.“Are you okay?” I asked, instinctively taking her hand in mine. She looked at me with tearful eyes, not saying a word.Standing up straight, I said coldly, “You shouldn’t be here.”"I know, Leah," she said softly. "But... you have to help me. If our friendship meant anything to you, then please help me… just this once."I stared at her for a while, my heart slowly softening. This was Nora. We'd eaten together, slept in the same room, and gone to class side by side for months. She was literally my only friend in school. I wasn't that heartless to ignore her completely.“What do you want me to do?" I asked.“Are we going to talk over the door?” she asked, and that was when I realized that I didn't even invite her in.I hesitated slightly before stepping aside to let her in.Nora's P.O.VI was glad that Leah was finally willing to help.Once we sat down, she said flatly — “Go on.”She got straight to the point, not even offering me a glass o
Chapter 37 Nathan's P.O.VI raised my hand before I could stop myself, but was able to control myself from hitting her.Nora stared at me without blinking, as if she knew I couldn't hit her. I groaned in frustration, clenching my fist and getting up angrily.“Why are you so stupid?!” I shouted before storming out.I really needed some fresh air right now.— — —Sky's P.O.V I noticed that Leah didn't like this outing plan. No one could recognize that displeased look on her face better than me. I saw it almost every day during high school.I knew she wouldn't want me to speak on her behalf to Nora, so I said what I had to say and left.Nathan followed me out, and I paused in my tracks, looking at him in irritation."What's your problem?" I asked with a frown. No matter the situation, a guy should not be running after me like some prince pursuing a runaway princess."Sky, Nora didn't do anything wrong. I had planned all this, and I shouldn't have brought you here without telling you the
Chapter 36 Leah's P.O.V I hated how she always decided things for everyone else. It made me feel a sudden irritation, and I felt like storming out instantly."You think you can just set up an outing on your own? Did you even care if I was interested?" Sky said."I didn't mean to," Nora said, fixing her gaze on the floor."You guys have fun," Sky said and left. Nathan went after him."Alright, I'll get going too," I said.“Leah,” she said quickly, stepping forward, but not getting too close. So she also knew she overstepped her bounds.I stared at her blankly. Her eyes were misty, and I felt anything but sympathy."You're not mad at me, too… right?” she asked."You—""I had a reason!" she interrupted before I could make a complete sentence.Every time something happened, she somehow turned out to be the mastermind behind it.First it was Fiona and Yaya at the café, then shopping. I'm sure she had asked Nathan to bring me along to the pre-exam party, then the other day when I was avoid
Chapter 35Leah's P.O.VHis hand trailed down from my waist, down to my clit.“Already so wet for me, baby,” he said between the kiss.He bit my lip and I moaned, opening up and giving him more access in the process.Breaking the kiss, he moved on to place soft bites on my neck, while two of his fingers found their way inside me. He wasn't inside me yet, and I was already a moaning mess.“Please,” I begged.I wanted more, and it felt evil of him to tease me like this.“Tell me what you want,” he whispered by my ear, his fingers thrusting deeper and faster.“I want you,” I moaned.“Where?” he asked, his seductive voice igniting the fire in me even more.“With me… around me… in me…” I stuttered, unable to make a meaningful sentence. “...ahh!” my walls clenched around his fingers as I came undone.“Your body is so obedient,” he said and went between my legs, devouring every single drop of my juices.“You taste so good,” he said and kissed me once more, making me taste myself in his mouth
Chapter 34Leah's P.O.V If I had known Sky would be here, I never would have agreed to come.“Sky's here too?” I asked.“Yes. He's also sleeping over,” she replied.“You didn't mention it before now,” I folded my arms.“Since we're two couples, let's make it a movie night,” she announced, ignoring what I had just said.“On a Tuesday night?” Sky asked, raising an eyebrow.“Then we won't stay up late,” she said.I was speechless. Didn't she call me over to study together? What was this now?She deceived me. Since I've lied to her before, we're even. I'll let it slide. As much as I wanted to storm out and go back home, I didn't want to be the bad person here.“I'll go have a quick shower. Don't worry, I won't take long. It's Nathan who usually spends a long time in the shower.“No I don't,” he argued.“Yes, you do,” she said and ran to her room. Nathan also got up and went to his room.I tried my best to push the anger behind me and find how they always argued like children, funny.I su
