THREE HUNDRED YEARS AGO ~~~~~~~~~~~ I sat on a throne carved from the bones of the Alphas I had slaughtered. Below me, the elders of the conquered packs knelt in the dirt, their hands bound in silver chains. "Please, King Vergil," one of them pleaded shouting at the top of his lungs, his forehead pressed to the cold stone floor. "We have given you our gold. We have given you our lands and women. Spare us our children, please do not force them into your army." I didn't even look down at him. I leaned my chin on my hand, bored by his tears. It was an insult that they were even permitted in my presence. They were mere mortals, utterly incomparable to a demigod the son of the very moon goddess they bowed to. By all rights, they should have been on their knees before me, grateful that I could find any use for their miserable existences." "Your children belong to me now," I said, my voice echoing off the high stone walls. "Everything in this world belongs to me. If they fight well, they live. If they are weak, they die but you shouldn't mourn, to die for my sake is the greatest gift I can give to your pathetic existence." "You are a monster!" a young warrior shouted, struggling against his guards. "The heavens will punish you for this! The gods are watching!" I laughed. It was a loud, arrogant sound that silenced the entire room. I stood up staring at the warrior, "Let them watch," I sneered, stepping down from the dais. "I have conquered the mortals and I have crushed the supernaturals. There is no god in the sky more powerful than the blood in my veins. If the heavens want to stop me, let them come down and try." The words had barely left my mouth when the torches in the room flickered and died. A suffocating silence fell over the castle as the air grew freezing cold, turning our breath into white mist. Then, the stone ceiling above us melted away revealing the night sky as a blinding, silver moonlight poured into the room, so bright it burned the eyes of the guards. They dropped to their knees, howling in agony as the divine pressure hit them. From the center of the light, a woman stepped down into the bloody stone floor. She wore a dress made of starlight, and her hair flowed around her like silver water. My mother Selene. The Moon Goddess. "Vergil," she spoke, and her voice sounded like a thousand crashing oceans. It vibrated inside my skull forcing me to take a step back. I swallowed the sudden lump of fear in my throat and forced a cruel smile. "Mother, to what do I owe the honor? Have you come to admire my kingdom?" "I have come to look at my greatest shame," she said, her beautiful face tight with sorrow and disgust. "I gave you life, Vergil. I gave you power beyond any creature on this earth so that you could protect the weak. Instead, you have built a throne out of their corpses." "I did what a predator does," I argued, my voice tightening as I tried to stand tall against her divine aura. "I ruled. The weak exist to be conquered. Why should I feel guilty for being the strongest creature you ever created?" "Strength without mercy is not royalty, Vergil. It is just butchery," she said softly. She looked around at the chained elders, her glowing eyes filled with pity. "You have broken the sacred balance. You have mocked the gods and you have declared yourself higher than the heavens." "Because I am!" I shouted, my pride flaring. I pointed my claw at her. "Look at them! They worship you, and yet I am the one who controls their lives. Your prayers didn't save them from my blade. I am the king of this world, Mother. Not you." The Moon Goddess closed her eyes, a single silver tear rolling down her cheek. When she opened them, the sorrow was gone. Only cold, absolute judgment remained. "Then you shall be a king of nothing," she said. She raised her hand, and a shockwave of silver light blasted through the room. I screamed as the light hit my chest, knocking me to my knees. The pain was unlike anything I had ever felt, it felt like my soul was being ripped in half. My black wings burned away into ash, and the magic inside me began to curdle and turn sour. "What are you doing to me?!" I roared, clutching my chest, coughing up dark thick blood. "I am giving you exactly what you built," Selene said, her voice echoing through the cosmos. "You love to be feared, Vergil? You shall be feared by all. You think you need no one? You shall have no one." She stepped closer, her silver boots stopping inches from my trembling hands. "From this night forward, you are cursed," she decreed. "You will not age. You will not die. You will watch your empire crumble into dust, and the centuries will wash your name away until you are nothing but a ghost story. You will possess absolute power, but it will bring you no joy. You shall have beautiful women lusting for you but unable to touch you. you will have sire no heirs because you will never be able to touch a women ever again." "Just Kill me instead!" I begged, my voice cracking as the weight of eternity pressed down on my soul. "Mother, kill me!" "Death is a mercy you do not deserve," she replied coldly. "You will live in total isolation. Worshipped, yet completely unloved. Feared, yet entirely alone." "Forever?" I choked out, looking up at her through blurred vision. The Moon Goddess looked down at me, a tiny flicker of motherly grief returning to her white eyes. ""Centuries from now you'll find a mate, and knowing you, your cruelty will kill her." "No..." I muttered, shaking my head. "No, I would never—" "You will," my mother said as her body began to dissolve back into pure moonlight. "Because you are a monster, my son and monsters always destroy the things that try to save them. Search for her, Vergil. Wait for her and pray that when you find her, you do not murder your only chance at salvation." "How could you do this! I'm your son! your flesh and blood!" I shouted struggling to my feet, "You think this will break me! This is nothing! I'm a demi god, I do not need love, not from a mother and certainly not from a mate!" "My beautiful boy." She whispered as she began to fade, "Power and fear is all you wanted, now it is all you will ever have."Dante quickly looked away from me, his forehead sweating as he turned his desperate gaze back to Vergil. "Alpha Vergil, what is the meaning of this?" Dante asked, trying to sound important but failing miserably. "I thought... I thought the curse would have turned her to stone the very first night! My scouts told me she survived your touch, but I didn't believe it. I didn't think it was possible!" "It is very much possible as you see," Vergil said, a smug, arrogant grin spreading across his face. He leaned forward, his crimson eyes locking onto Dante like a predator watching a rabbit. "Your sister is quite a remarkable creature, Dante. She survived my touch. She survived my bite and just last night, she survived a bullet to the chest by drinking my very own blood. She is my fated mate. She is going to give me the heirs I have waited centuries for." Dante gasped, his eyes darting between Vergil and me. I could see the gears turning in his clever, wicked brain. The fear in hi
My body went completely rigid against the wooden wardrobe. For a second, I forgot how to breathe. Dante was here. My pathetic, greedy, backstabbing brother had actually stepped foot inside the Blood Demon's fortress. The last time I saw him, he was smirking from his stolen throne with his chosen mate, watching his guards drag me away in chains. He had sold me like an animal to a monster, fully expecting me to die. Now, he was here. Vergil stood perfectly still as the furious, lustful look in his eyes instantly vanished and he didn't even look bothered by the fact that he was completely naked in front of me anymore. "Dante," Vergil murmured, the name rolling off his tongue like a piece of garbage he wanted to spit out. He turned his crimson eyes back to me, a cruel, amused smile twisting his lips. "Well, well, little birdie. It seems your beloved brother has come to visit. I wonder if he brought a wreath for your grave, or if he's just here to collect his final pa
Soft warm hands were brushing against my cheek. At first, I thought I was back in the Aries kingdom, tucked into my old bed before the world fell apart. But then a familiar scent of the man I hated most in the world besides my backstabbing brother filled my nose and immediately my eyes snapped open as my breath caught in my throat. The morning sun was pouring through the grand stone windows, lighting up the massive bedroom. Right next to me, lying propped up on his elbow, was Vergil. "Morning little birdie." He purred. He was completely naked. The bedsheets were pulled down past his waist, exposing his pale, perfectly sculpted chest, his broad shoulders, and the muscles of his stomach. I looked down at myself in a flash of panic and realized I was only wearing my underwear. My blood stained shirt from the night before was completely gone, likely pulled away while I was unconscious. Did Vergil undress me while I was asleep? Did he do anything else to me while I
Vergil's blood tasted like hot poison and for a terrifying second, my lungs seized completely as my vision blurred and every nerve ending in my body screamed in pure agony. "He lied to me," was my frantic, dying thought. "The bastard poisoned me." I choked, my body convulsing against the mattress as I tried to pull away from his arm, but Vergil’s hardened his grip around the back of my neck, pinning my head down, forcing me to swallow his blood. "Keep drinking, blondie," Vergil murmured. "Don't spit it out if you want to live." "Vergil, stop! You're killing her!" Eric’s voice panicked. I felt his large hands gripping my shoulders, trying to pull me out of the Alpha's hold, but Vergil didn't even flinch. "Back off, Eric!" Vergil snapped, a wave of commanding Alpha aura rolling off him so forcefully that even I, in my fading state, could feel the pressure. "Look at the wound, look at it closely." I gasped loudly, my back arching off the bed as a bizarre, tingling sensat
•••Genevieve••• ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Everything was going black. I could feel my consciousness slipping away. I was sliding off a cliff into a bottomless, freezing ocean but something was stopping me from falling completely. Hands. Large, firm hands were holding me up. They were pressing hard against the center of my chest, trying desperately to trap the life that was pouring out of me. They were so warm. Why were Eric's hands so warm? "No! No! No! Stay with me, Eve. Please... please don't leave me," I heard him say. I forced my heavy eyelids open just a crack. For the very first time since I had met him, I saw him crying. The supreme, untouchable Beta of the Black Shadow pack was completely broken as tears were streaming down his face, smearing the blood on his skin. Those beautiful blue eyes of his were looking down at me like I was the most prized possession in the entire world, a treasure he had just found, and was now about to lose forever. What an utt
•••Vergil••• ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few minutes ago "I am always ready to serve you, Alpha," a beautiful brunette with bright blue eyes said. She gave me a kind, gentle smile and bowed low, letting her long hair fall over her shoulders. I sat on the edge of my massive bed, staring at the beautiful, completely naked girl. My hands were shaking. No matter how many times I did this, the weight of what was about to happen always made my blood run cold. "Do not worry, Anya... Anya, isn't it?" I asked, my voice flat and emotionless. She lifted her head, her smile never fading. "Yes, Your Highness." "Do not worry, Anya. I promise to keep my word," I said, looking at her soft skin. "If you do not survive this night, I will personally ensure your family receives fertile lands at the Eastern border. It will be a heavy compensation for your loss. They will never starve again." The moment the words left my mouth, she dropped straight to her knees on the cold marble floor. "Th

The moment my bare fingers clamped around her throat I waited for her skin to whiten, for her pulse to freeze, and for her flesh to harden into cold, lifeless rock. That was the rule of my curse. That was what happened to every fragile, useless creature that I touched. But nothing happened
Eric averted his gaze as he handed my chains to two massive soldiers wearing black armor. He had made his choice. He had chosen his master over his mate. "Move," one of the guards barked shoving me hard from behind. I didn't look back at the other girls but I could hear their soft collect
"We are going to die! We are all going to die!" a girl whispered, shivering with fear. Around me, five young women sat chained like animals, dresses ripped and faces covered in mud and tears Looking at them I knew they were Omegas, the lowest rank in their pack. They were women nobody would
