I picked up a tray holding grilled salmon, mashed potatoes, a bottle of wine, and an empty glass.

“A gentleman is waiting for his order,” I said flatly while adjusting the tray carefully in my hands.

“Mhmm. Run away from the conversation.”

“Go get yourself busy, Ivy.”

She laughed softly and stepped aside to let me pass, but before either of us could say another word, the supervisor’s voice suddenly cut through the room.

“Ivy.”

She froze immediately and turned around.

“I’m still waiting for the order in your hands.”

“Oh... sorry.”

The supervisor glanced between us before narrowing his eyes at her suspiciously.

“You are obviously in love with this guy.”

Ivy’s jaw dropped in horror while I fought back a smile and quickly walked out before she could defend herself.

The café buzzed quietly with soft music and low conversations as I approached another table. The man seated there barely acknowledged me, his full attention remaining on his phone while I uncorked the wine bottle carefully and began pouring into the glass.

Then, without meaning to, my eyes flickered across the room.

Straight toward Jace.

He was already watching me.

The intensity behind his gaze startled me enough that my hand jerked slightly, and wine spilled across the table, several drops splashing against the customer’s trousers.

The man shot to his feet immediately.

“What the hell is wrong with you?”

My stomach ached painfully.

“I’m sorry...”

“Are you blind?” he snapped harshly, glaring down at the stain.

Several nearby customers turned toward us, their conversations dying down almost instantly.

“I said I’m...”

His hand struck my face before I could finish, the sound cracking sharply through the café.

My head snapped sideways from the force, and for one horrible second, all I heard was ringing. Heat spread violently across my cheek while humiliation flooded through me so fast it nearly stole my breath. My fingers tightened around the wine bottle as I became painfully aware of the eyes now fixed on me from every direction.

Some customers looked shocked while others appeared visibly uncomfortable, and a few pretended not to stare at all as silence slowly swallowed the entire café.

Then the atmosphere changed, the shift sudden enough to make my pulse stumble, as a cold heaviness swept through the room like invisible pressure settling over every table and chair in the café. It was dangerous and suffocating, and my eyes lifted at once toward Jace, who was already on his feet.

The calmness on his face looked far worse than anger, his jaw locked tightly as something dark and violent flickered behind his eyes, barely restrained. He stared at the man and began to walk toward us, each step deepening the pressure in the café so heavily that the customer’s confidence began to falter.

“I am here for a date with my fiancée,” the man barked angrily, pointing at me. “And this stupid...”

“Hey,” Jace’s voice sliced cleanly through the tension, cold and steady, cutting off whatever insult the man had been about to throw. He stepped between us slowly, his eyes locking onto the customer with a weight that made even me uneasy, before speaking in a low, firm tone. “Watch how you speak to people here.”

Selena gave a weak little sound in response, and when Lucien opened his eyes again, tears had finally escaped down his face.Slowly his fingers shifted, silver-tipped claws extending from them before he carefully brushed one claw against the right side of Selena’s neck gently enough to barely break skin.A tiny mark formed instantly. My breath caught sharply as a small drop of blood slipped slowly down her delicate skin while Selena flinched weakly from the pain.Lucien stared silently at the mark for a moment before lifting his gaze toward mine again.“Thank you,” he said quietly.Something inside the look he gave me sent coldness down my spine. Then without another word, he returned to Seraphina’s side before finally reaching for her hand, and the moment he placed hers into his, Rowan immediately moved toward the door and pulled it open carefully as the violent sounds of war clearly flooded back into the room.Lucien stepped out first, his sharp gaze sweeping cautiously across the d

The name settled heavily inside the room, almost like prophecy itself had spoken through her lips while silence swallowed us all once again.Rowan’s gaze shifted briefly toward Lucien while tension remained rigid throughout his posture, and slowly Seraphina lifted her trembling hand toward Selena’s face before stopping halfway as though touching her again would completely destroy the little strength she had left.“Her powers will remain sealed until the rise of the Pink Moon,” Seraphina whispered softly. “The king poisoned Crystalmere, the sacred lake the wolves drink from. We believed we were honoring tradition when we drank from it, but the poison spread through our blood instead. I drank from it too.”Pain crossed her face sharply as faint silver light flickered weakly beneath her skin.“It cannot kill her,” she continued quietly while looking toward Selena. “But it locked away what she was born to become.”Unease tightened slowly inside me while my grip around the baby strengthene

✦ISOLDE'S POV✦Without another word, Rowan dropped the sword onto the floor and rushed toward them quickly, gripping Lucien’s arm firmly as he pulled both him and Seraphina fully inside.“Get in. Quickly.”The urgency in his voice tightened the fear already clawing through my chest while Lucien immediately guided Seraphina further into the room, one protective arm remaining firmly around her waist as Rowan slammed the door shut behind them before sliding the heavy lock into place. The violent sounds outside became muffled instantly, though distant screams and the clash of steel still echoed faintly through the walls while Rowan turned back toward them carefully, tension remaining visible throughout his posture despite allowing them inside.“Everywhere is surrounded,” Rowan said quietly, his breathing still uneven beneath his composure.“Thank you,” Lucien replied calmly, though there was something about his voice that demanded attention effortlessly, dangerously controlled beneath the

✦ISOLDE'S POV✦“But you do,” Selena said softly.Roselyn shifted irritably across the bed before turning onto her side and closing her eyes dramatically while I smiled faintly at her behavior before looking back toward Selena.“For God’s sake, Mother, we are twenty,” Roselyn complained tiredly, her voice carrying the exhausted tone of someone already prepared to reject whatever came next.“You are both still my babies,” I replied softly while stretching my hand toward her leg and rubbing it gently despite her obvious annoyance.“Old enough not to be told bedtime stories,” Roselyn muttered while Selena glanced toward me with an amused smile, and for a moment both of us simply looked at each other knowingly before I sighed quietly.“Alright,” I said, lowering my gaze briefly before lifting it back toward Selena. “Even if this is the last story I ever tell you both, there is something important you deserve to know.”Roselyn slowly turned her head toward me while Selena straightened sligh
