LOGINALEXIS’S POV
“Alexis!” Dyson’s voice filled with panic as he reached me first. He dropped to his knees beside me, his face had gone pale with fear and for the first time in months, I saw real terror in his eyes. “Oh my God… Alexis! Stay with me. What happened?!”
He tried to lift me, but his hands were shaking as they touched my blood-soaked body. “Breathe, baby. Just breathe. I’m here. I’m right here.”
Tears rolled down my cheeks. In that moment, despite everything, I still felt an ounce of hope in my heart, he came for me, he finally chose me. He still cared about me. I weakly reached out and grabbed onto his shirt with my bloody fingers.
“Dyson…” I whispered hoarsely. “The baby… please… help our baby…”
His pupils widened with fear as he looked at the blood. For one beautiful second, I believed he would stay. That the mate bond wouldn’t win this time.
Then a loud scream ran through the mansion.
“Ahhhhh! My hand! The baby!”
Mandy stood near the kitchen entrance with a kitchen knife in her trembling hand and a fresh cut across her palm. Blood dripped dramatically onto the floor as she screamed louder, twisting her face in fake agony.
“Dyson! The baby! I think something’s wrong with the baby!”
The mate bond hit him instantly and I watched in horror as Dyson’s expression changed from fear for me to pure panic for her. His head turned toward Mandy, and he was already moving away from me.
“Mandy!” he shouted in a terror filled voice.
Helena rushed down the stairs quickly. “Mandy! Oh my goddess, the baby! Dyson, get her to the hospital now! We can’t lose this child!”
Clarissa, Denise, and Olivia surrounded Mandy immediately, fussing over her like she was the only one bleeding. Not one of them looked back at me.
Dyson hesitated for a second, his eyes darted between me and Mandy. I tried reaching out to him again, with my shaky hand. “Dyson… please… don’t leave me…”
But the bond was stronger. He stood up, gently lifting Mandy into his arms as if she were made of glass.
“I’ll come back for you immediately, Alexis. I promise. Just hold on!” he called over his shoulder as he rushed toward the door with Mandy in his arms.
Helena and the sisters followed right behind him without sparing me a single glance. The heavy front door slammed shut, and the mansion fell into silence.
I was alone…completely alone.
“No…” I whimpered, fresh tears fell from my eyes, mixing with the blood on my face. “Please… don’t leave me here…”
The pain in my abdomen intensified, it felt like I was being stabbed from the inside and I could feel my baby’s life fading. With every ounce of strength I had left, I dragged my injured body across the floor. My fingers moved aped against the marble as I crawled toward the door, leaving a trail of blood behind me.
Every inch I took forward felt like hell, my sight kept blurring out and my arms shook violently. But I kept moving. I had to. For my baby. For myself.
I finally reached the front door and used the frame to pull myself up. My legs barely worked anymore, I stumbled outside into the cool evening air, gasping desperately. The driveway seemed endless, but I dragged myself forward, one painful step at a time.
I made it to the roadside before my body gave up completely.
My knees went down the hill and I collapsed onto the hard ground, blood kept flowing from between my legs, everything around me was spinning and I found it hard to breathe.
This is it, I thought. This is how I die…all alone.
Through my fading consciousness, I heard the sound of a car approaching, the tires screeched to a stop right in front of me. A black Rolls Royce.
A tall man stepped out quickly, but I could barely make out his features — dark hair, broad shoulders, brown eyes. He rushed toward me and was in shock at the sight of all the blood.
“Hey! Stay with me!” I heard him say through the fog clouding my head “Don’t close your eyes. I’ve got you.”
I felt strong arms carefully lifting me from the ground, and for the first time in what felt like forever, someone was holding me with urgency and care.
But it was too late, the darkness was winning and my eyes closed shut as everything faded to black.
ALEXIS “Thank you, Adam.” I shook the hand of my divorce lawyer, a middle-aged Italian man.He smiled. “Don't be. I'm just here to make sure everything goes smoothly and that there's no trouble.”“Still, I really appreciate it.” I smiled, taking the papers and going through them one last time. “I'll make sure he signs them.”“Yes, please.” He nodded, but right then his phone rang. He checked the screen and the smile slowly dropped from his face. “I will be taking my leave now. I have an urgent matter that needs attention. Please tell Mr. Xavier I am done here.”“Yes, I will. Um... the payment. We haven't discussed it yet.” I stood up to stop him, but he waved his hand.“Don't worry about it. Mr. Xavier already covered all the expenses,” he said before walking through the door.I stood there numbly, processing the words that had left his mouth. My eyes dropped back to the document, my hand slowly tightening around it.“He did.” The words left my mouth dryly. It had been weeks, and yet
ALEXIS POV“Child.” Mother's voice echoed in my ears, but I was too numb to move. My eyes stared dazedly at the flower pot by the window, my lips moving without forming proper words. “It's been weeks. You have to move on.”I felt her hand wrap around mine, her body trembling slightly. Mother had suffered with me. She stayed with me for almost half of the day to make sure I didn't bring harm to myself.I shut my eyes as tears burned down my cheeks. Even crying drained the little strength I had left. All I wanted was for the moon goddess to take me, just as she took my child. It shouldn't be hard for her to do.“Mother.” I opened my mouth to speak, the air bitter against my dry throat. “I can't move on yet. I can't move on and pretend everything's fine.”I forced my head to turn toward her, a dull ache spreading through my neck after staring at one spot for weeks. “I carried my baby for months, mama. I felt my baby inside me. Her kicks.” My fist slammed weakly against my chest as a brok
XAVIER“N-no.” She shook her head, denial in her eyes. “This must be a joke. I can feel it. My baby is alive. I'm sure she's in the nursery.”“Child, the doctor is telling the truth—” her mother tried to hold her, but she snapped.“Not you too, mother! Not you! I know my baby isn't gone! She can't be gone!” she screamed, pulling the drips from her arm. She flung her legs to the floor, wincing as they shook profusely.“You are not in the right state to walk.” The doctor rushed forward to hold her, but she thrashed around, screaming like a madwoman.“No! Let me go!” She headbutted him, staggering him backward. The doctor groaned, his fingers slipping from her arm. Her body gave out, and she collapsed onto the bed. They restrained her, but she bit his hand before running toward the door.I got off the wall and ran after her. I noticed how badly her legs shook as she pressed her palms against the door, holding the knob, but somehow she couldn't open it.She fell limp against the door befo
ALEXIS'S POVThe first thing I heard was the steady beeping of machines. Rhythmic and annoying machines. My eyelids felt like they had been glued shut. I forced them open, blinking my eyes slowly to adjust to the harsh white lights above me.A hospital room.I turned my head slowly, still feeling fuzzy and disoriented. A tall, handsome stranger leaned against the wall near the window, his arms were folded across his broad chest. He looked powerful in an expensive black shirt, he stood there watching me with calm but intense eyes. The same man I vaguely remembered from the roadside before everything went dark. Then seated right beside my bed, holding my hand tightly, was my mother. The moment her eyes met mine, she broke into a stream of tears.“Alexis… my baby!” she cried, kissing the back of my hand repeatedly. “Thank the goddess you’re awake. I was so scared.”I tried to speak but my throat felt dry, everything still felt like a dream to me. I looked around again, trying to piece

ALEXIS'S POVMy days in the house became one long, painful haze. I was drowning in exhaustion, both body and soul. At this point I was a stranger to sleep. Every night I lay in our big cold bed alone, listening to the distant murmurs and laughter coming from the other wing where Dyson now spent most of his time with Mandy. My pregnancy symptoms had grown worse under the constant stress. My back hurt constantly, my legs were swollen, and dizzy spells came without warning. Still, I kept moving. I kept trying. This morning was no different.I dragged myself out of bed at dawn, my head started spinning as I stood up. Black spots clouded my sight, but I held onto the wall until they cleared out. Dyson hadn’t come to bed again last night. The sheets on his side remained untouched and cold. I placed a trembling hand on my heavy belly, feeling the baby move weakly.“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “Mommy’s trying.”I made my way to the kitchen like every other morning. My hands moved on autopilot
ALEXIS'S POVThe days that followed after Mandy’s arrival were a series of nightmares I couldn’t wake up from.Mandy moved into the mansion the very next morning and within hours, the entire atmosphere changed. Helena and the sisters treated her like a precious jewel that had finally been delivered
ALEXIS Dyson had his hand gently placed on her lower back, guiding her inside like she belonged here. The entire table went silent for a second before Helena rose with a bright, genuine smile I had never seen her give me.“Dyson, my son! You finally brought her,” Helena said warmly.I couldn’t bre
ALEXIS'S POVI woke up before the first light of dawn crept into the sky, my lower back was already screaming in protest. At seven months pregnant, every time I moved, it felt like I was doing a chore, but I still forced myself out of bed. At this time everyone else was still asleep.I rubbed my s
