Asia's POV

The flight from New York had been hell.

All that echoed in my head was the words Gia said.

“Asia dear, you can't attend this wedding, It's for elites only,take this ticket, it's a two days vacation trip to Paris, it'll be worth it sister.”

She’d said it with that fake sweet smile, while Mom nodded along like Gia was already the trophy daughter.

The daughter who landed a wealthy fiancé. The one who lied straight to everyone’s face and claimed she was an only child.

And me? I was none existent.

Now here I was, dragging my beat-up suitcase across the polished marble floor of the Golden Galaxy hotel in Paris.

My worn sneakers squeaked loudly with every step, announcing to everyone that I was the outsider.

I was at the front desk, trying to check in without looking too lost, when I heard the laugh.

That laugh.

I paused.

My stomach dropped before I even turned around.

Monroe!

My ex from high school,the one who dumped me the second his tech startup took off, called me “used goods” for his brand new world.

He stood there in a brown jacket, arm wrapped possessively around a Blondie, I looked closely and it was Chanel, my old high school friend who had clearly upgraded right along with him.

I turned fast as possible and grabbed my luggage to avoid catching up with them.

“Asia?” Monroe’s voice startled me,I thought I could escape him.

He stepped closer, that familiar smug smirk spreading across his face. “No fucking way, you still look just the same, after so many years.”

Chanel giggled.

 “Asia, what a coincidence, what brings you here?”Chanel asked.

I forced a smile.”I'm here for vacation.”

“Vacation?”Monroe scoffed

“When did you start making money to go on vacation or you are here to hookup with one of those old men who hit on you.”

They both burst into laughter, heat rushed up my neck. My palm tightened around the box handle until my knuckles went white.

“You better watch your mouth Monroe, my fiance won't take that nonsense you just sprouted, lightly.”I swallowed the lump in my throat.

“Fiance?, you are engaged?”His brows shoot up and then furrowed,his gazed moved to my finger, and then he smirked.

“Then where is the ring.” He chuckled."You still haven't stopped lying, Asia.”

I had to calculate fast,I wasn't going to let Monroe eat me up just like that.

My eyes darted across the elegant lobby, desperate for anything,for anyone,and that’s when I sighted this man, he stood near the grand staircase, so huge and broad shouldered, he was scrolling through his phone, a small smile formed on my lips.

I catwalked straight across the lobby.

My heart slammed against my ribs so hard it could burst.

I stood in front of him,I rose on my tiptoes all five feet of me, grabbed the front of his suit jacket with both hands, yanked him down and crashed my lips against his.

For one frozen second,the gasp and whisper from people around faded away, the chandelier light became invisible, everything and everyone blurred out.

He went completely rigid under my fingers.

His body tensed like steel.

I poured every bit of my anger, my desperation, and my fake bravery into that kiss, It wasn’t gentle,it wasn’t pretty.

It was reckless and raw and born from years of being stepped on.

When I finally pulled back just an inch, breathing fast, I whispered loud enough for Monroe and Chanel to hear.

“Baby what took you so long to get here?”

The stranger stared down at me, his expression shifting from shock to something darker, amusement mixed with heat and a flash of danger. His large hand came up slowly and settled on my waist, fingers strong and possessive, holding me exactly where I was so I couldn’t run.

“I like your boldness, little kitten ” He murmured, voice low and rough. I felt my stomach somersault.

I lost my senses for a second just staring at his dark fox eyes.

He towered over me, making me feel even smaller than usual.

Just in, Monroe cleared his throat.

I had forgotten they were standing there, Chanel's mouth was wide open with one hand on her chest.

Monroe's face turned sour.

“You can't be engaged to him, you are not of his class.”He sneered.

Chanel nodded in agreement.

“He…he is , We’ve been keeping things on the low.”I snapped.

Monroe let out a forced laugh “Fiance? Him? Bullshit. You expect us to believe this tiny nobody landed someone like…”

 “You got a problem with my fiancée?”

The word “fiancée” from the stranger's mouth made my skin tingle.

My pulse calmed down,I lifted my head up to look at him, jaws tightened, his eyes were fixed on Monroe.

His hand slid from my waist to the small of my back, pulling me closer against his solid chest.

Monroe and Chanel stood there dumbfounded.

“Wow, nice one Asia.”Monroe said shifting his gaze between me and the stranger.

They both walked off.

I turned to pull away from the stranger, but he held my wrist.

“Not so fast,little kitten

.”His icy fox eyes pierced through mine.

My pulse began to rise again.

He started guiding me away from the center, toward a quieter corner of the lobby near the bar, my body just followed without permission.

“You kissed me without permission,” he said slowly, “In front of witnesses, claimed me as yours, that was bold, little kitten.”

Heat flooded my face. “I… I’m sorry,it happened out of impulse.” I grabbed a piece of my dress. ”Please pretend this never happened, we won't cross paths again.” I turned to leave,but he blocked the way again.

“No.”

“You don’t get to kiss a man like that and just disappear,” His eyes darkened.”Not without consequences.”

He leaned in closer, his breath brushing my ear.

 “How about we continue this game for the next two days?”

“What…what do you mean?”My voice was barely a whisper.

“We will pretend we are dating just to spite him more, and also I want to strike a business deal with him, so you on my side, might just make it easier.”

Two days pretending to be engaged to this intriguing stranger?

It was insane.

“What exactly do I have to do?” I asked.

His dark eyes gleamed with satisfaction. “Everything a real fiancée would do,”

“Starting right now.”

He pulled me closer again, arms wrapped possessively around my waist like I was already his.

“Smile, little kitten,” His tone sending chills racing down my spine. “Your ex is still watching, And trust me… this little game we just started? It’s so gonna be worth your time.”

    ~~~Asia's POV~~~By the time I got downstairs, George was still there.Which surprised me.Not because he was waiting.Because he looked like he hadn't moved.The lobby bustled around him in the usual afternoon chaos. Employees came and went through the revolving doors. Phones rang behind reception. Security greeted visitors. Yet George stood near one of the large windows overlooking the street, hands shoved into his pockets, staring outside like he'd forgotten where he was.For a moment, I simply watched him.The bouquet was over, at least.Thank God.Small victories.I walked toward him, my heels clicking softly against the polished floor."George."He turned immediately.Something crossed his face.Relief maybe.Gone too quickly for me to be sure."Hey."I stopped beside him.The city stretched beyond the glass behind us, traffic moving steadily through the afternoon while sunlight reflected off nearby buildings.Neither of us spoke right away.The silence wasn't uncomfortable exac
    Eden's POV"Do you think people can care about someone and still make them feel trapped?"The question followed me all the way back to my office.I shut the door behind me and dropped the Henderson file onto my desk.Then stood there.Staring at absolutely nothing.Because somehow, after everything that had happened over the past few weeks, that single question was the one thing I couldn't stop thinking about.I loosened my tie slightly and sank into my chair.First I walk into her office and find her husband standing beside her desk with enough flowers to supply a wedding venue.Then five minutes later she's asking me if someone can care about a person and still make them feel trapped.The timing wasn't exactly subtle.I leaned back slowly.Maybe she was talking about George.Maybe.But another possibility had been irritating me ever since I left her office.What if she meant me?The thought settled heavily in my chest.Because if I was being honest with myself.and I generally hated
    Asia's POVThe second George walked around my desk, I knew I was in trouble.Not actual trouble.The complicated kind.The kind that made guilt settle heavily in your stomach because someone was trying to be kind and all you wanted was space."You don't have to carry everything yourself."His hand rested lightly against my shoulder.Friendly and supportive gesture.I guess?At least it should have felt normal.Instead, my entire body went strangely stiff. I hated that because George wasn't doing anything wrong.Not really.He wasn't grabbing me.Wasn't yelling.Wasn't demanding anything.Yet lately every interaction felt loaded with something neither of us was saying out loud.I opened my mouth, trying to find a response that wouldn't hurt his feelings.Trying to find a way to explain that gratitude and affection weren't the same thing.That just because he'd helped me didn't mean I belonged to him.But before I could say anything the office door opened.Neither of us looked immediate
    Asia's POVTWO DAYS AFTER PARISBy ten o'clock, I had already regretted coming back to work.Not because of the workload.I loved work.Work made sense.Numbers made sense.But somehow, I was still overwhelmed with everything that has happened and what led me to this job in the first place.I stared at the quarterly reports on my screen while accomplishing absolutely nothing.The cursor blinked at me, mocking me.Twenty five emails remained unanswered.Two meetings sat on my calendar.And I'd reread the same paragraph six times without absorbing a single word.Pathetic.A knock sounded against my office door."Come in."The door opened.Sarah, one of the assistants, stepped inside carrying a folder."Good morning." I smiledShe hesitated. “Good morning.”That sounded forced.I wasn't prepared for the next thing Sarah was about to say"There's a man asking to see you."A man?Please don't be"George, he said his name is George."“Your husband.” Her eyes narrowed.I brought my head down
    Asia's POVThe hospital smelled like antiseptic and exhaustion.I hated hospitals.Always had.Maybe because every hallway felt heavy with bad news.Maybe because hope and heartbreak seemed to live side by side inside these walls.Or maybe because right now my mother was sleeping behind one of those doors, and every time I looked at her, I felt guilty for not finding her sooner.The doctors had reassured me three separate times.She was dehydrated.Exhausted.Malnourished.But alive.Very much alive.The word still didn't feel real.I sat beside her bed and watched her sleep, tears burning behind my eyes for what felt like the hundredth time today.A knock sounded softly against the door.I already knew who it was.Eden.My stomach immediately did something ridiculous.I hated that.The door opened slowly.He stepped inside carrying two coffees.How sweet. The man solved every problem like it was a business transaction.I almost smiled.Almost."How is she?" His bass tone sent chills
  • Fake Fiancée, Real Boss   Chapter 30
    Asia's POVBy the time I arrived at the location, my heart felt like it was trying to hammer its way through my ribs. Each beat was a brutal reminder that I was alone.Truly alone. In the belly of whatever nightmare waited for me.The abandoned warehouse crouched near the river like a dying beast, half-swallowed by shadows and flanked by rusted shipping containers that leaned against each other like drunks. Graffiti scarred the corrugated walls in faded, angry slashes. Broken glass glittered faintly under the weak security lights that still somehow worked. This was the kind of place people avoided even in daylight. The kind of place chosen on purpose because screams here would drown in the wind and the rush of the Seine.The sky had already surrendered to night. Heavy, low hanging clouds pressed down on Paris, pregnant with rain that hadn’t yet decided to fall. A cold wind whipped across the empty lot, carrying the metallic tang of rust, river rot, and distant diesel. I pulled my coat
    Asia's POV“You’re joking.”I stood in the middle of Eden’s office, staring at the hotel reservation in my hand like it had personally offended me.Across from me, Eden barely looked up from the email on his laptop.“You’ve said that already.”“Yes, because I’m still hoping repetition will somehow
    Asia’s POVI pushed open Eden’s office door without knocking, which was either career suicide or a sign that my life had officially spiraled beyond the point of etiquette.He looked up from his laptop immediately, one hand resting against the keyboard, the other loosely holding a pen.   • Fake Fiancée, Real Boss   Chapter 10
    Asia’s POVIt was continued working none stop.By noon, I had developed a very specific opinion about Eden Gregory.He was exhausting.Not in the loud, dramatic, impossible to work with kind of way.That, at least, would’ve been straightforward.No.Eden was exhausting in a far more refined manner.
