Vegas POV

She ran.

The words have been echoing through my head ever since Virgo lowered that letter and looked at me like he wanted to kill me.

She ran.

Not because someone took her.

Not because she was in danger.

She left because she wanted to get away from me.

"You disrespected her."

Echo's roar rattles through my skull, making my jaw tighten.

"I was protecting her," I snap back.

"You controlled her."

The accusation lands harder than I want it to.

I drag a hand down my face, trying to gather

Kalani POVEventually the cookies are baked and the warm smell of chocolate and cinnamon fills the kitchen, wrapping around us like nothing happened here except two people making dessert. I set them on a plate in front of him.“Bon appétit,” I say, sliding the plate toward him, and he laughs before grabbing a cookie, not even waiting for it to cool. I grab one myself. He takes a bite and his eyes go wide. He immediately looks back down at the cookie before taking another bite, like he's trying to figure out what changed.“It was you,” he says.I raise a brow.“What?” I ask.“I have been asking Margot to make chocolate chip cookies but something was missing. Have you always made them this way?” he asks.I rest my elbows on the counter.“No, one day you were messing with me in the kitchen and we accidentally knocked some cinnamon into the batter,” I say, unable to stop the smile that tugs at my lips.“That’s it? Cinnamon?” he asks.“Yeah, I seen how much you liked it and I have been put

I was angry. Angry that she had been alone with Alexander. Angry that another man had his hands on my mate. How could he be her ex? How the fuck do they even know each other? The questions keep circling in my head, but none of them matter now. She's gone.I glance across the room at Virgo. He's been looking at me with murderous eyes ever since he finished reading her letter. She left him a letter.I got silence.Maybe because there wasn't anythi

  • Fated to The Cursed Alpha Twins    I Was Being Patient

Kalani POV He holds me until my sobs turn into sniffles. Neither of us says anything. His hand continues moving slowly up and down my back, giving me the space to cry without asking me to explain any of it. He pulls me back a little to look at my face. “Let’s clean your face and then we can bake some cookies,” he says, smiling softly at me. My brows furrow. “Cookies?” I ask. He chuckles. “Yeah. I remember you would cook when you needed a break from things,” he says. “You remember that?” “I remember a lot of things, Kalani.” The way he says it isn't boastful. It almost sounds like a confession. “But you don’t cook. You used to just sit in my kitchen and eat,” I say. He smiles to himself before standing and gently pulling me to my feet. He guides me toward the bathroom, but I stop in the doorway. “This room?” “When we did the remodel, I had them make it bigger but keep it how you had it the last time you were here,” he says. My breath catches. “Alexander... this is craz

  • Fated to The Cursed Alpha Twins    The Ghost Between Us

Kalani POV Madeline pulls me through the house and I can't help staring at everything around me. “Did he really make all of these changes because of me?” I ask her. She stops and looks at me, her expression softening in a way that makes my chest ache. “He’s always loved you, Kalani. He took your suggestions seriously because he knew you meant them,” she says. Not because they were good ideas. Because they came from me. "Ask her. She will tell you," Astra urges. I swallow hard before asking the question that's been sitting in the back of my mind since I got here. “What happened to his mate?” Madeline visibly stills. For just a second she says nothing before grabbing my hand again and leading me farther down the hall, her pace noticeably quicker than before. The warmth that had been in her face moments ago disappears so completely that my stomach twists with unease. She pushes open a door, and I stop in my tracks. My room. I forget what I asked her for a moment

  • Fated to The Cursed Alpha Twins    Where I Belong

Kalani POV Alex doesn’t say anything on the drive, but I can feel his eyes on me every now and then. The silence isn't awkward. It's heavy. Like we're both trying to figure out how we ended up back here after everything that happened between us. A part of me feels comfort in the silence, but another part wishes he would say what he is thinking. “Just say it,” I say softly, still watching the trees blur together outside my window. Anything is better than wondering. “What happened?” he asks gently. My head snaps toward him. “Do you really want to know?” I ask, the words coming out sharper than I intend. I take a deep breath. “I’m sorry,” I say. “Don’t apologize. Yes, I genuinely want to know because you are hurting, Kalani,” he says, briefly looking at me. Long enough for me to know he means every word. “Vegas had me followed and had someone taking pictures of me the entire night. There was a picture of me and you looking very intimate. When he asked about my night, I lied

Kalani POVI step outside the house and pace back and forth before making my way to Tati and Jaxon’s house. Some stupid part of me listens for the front door to open behind me.It never does.I knock on the door and Jaxon opens it.The moment he sees my face, he steps aside and lets me in.Tati comes running out of the kitchen.“What happened?” she asks, running over and pulling me into her arms. The second she does, whatever was holding me together starts to crack.“He had me followed,” I say low.Her head snaps to Jaxon.“He had us followed?” she snaps. He holds his hands up in surrender.“I swear I didn’t know,” he says.“He had pictures of everything we did. Of me and Alex. He... he called me a slut without actually calling me a slut,” I say, tears falling now.Saying it out loud makes it hurt all over again.I came here because I wanted to know my mates. I left my family, my pack and everything familiar because I wanted to give this bond a chance. Somehow, I'm still the one const

Kalani POV The drive to The Shadow Pack was long and annoying. Clearly they don’t realize how suffocating they are to be around or they just don’t care either way. Kalani POV “Again” I call out again across the field as I run drills. I’ve been running training since I was 15. Even though my brother is the heir of the pack I’m my father’s prodigy. I may not have shifted but I’m still the best warrior my pack has ever seen. People stopped waiting for me to shi

  • Fated to The Cursed Alpha Twins    If She Survives Us

Virgo POVI learned way before Thea that if you’re not in control that’s when people die. Not maybe. Not sometimes. Every single time. This curse is all about losing control and I learned to never give Echo too much control. Conditioning him to know I’m in control saved me from a lot of shit after

Virgo POVThe smell of blood burns my nose, the scent so thick I can taste the metallic bitterness on my tongue every time I breathe. It clings to the back of my throat, heavy and suffocating, like the air itself is coated in it.“Virgo please it’s not too late to stop,” she cries weakly beneath m
