Chapter 2

Author: Washing Wheat
Henry, acting as if he had just spotted his savior, stumbled toward Celine. "Cece! He split my head open! It hurts so much…"

Celine's gaze lingered on my face for a second before she frowned. Then she looked at Henry's aggrieved expression and reached out.

Instead of pulling him into an embrace, she gently pressed a hand against his bleeding forehead. He sucked in a sharp breath from the pain.

A soft crack sounded, and Henry let out a scream before his whole body went limp and collapsed.

Celine's gaze, however, only grew fiercer.

"Justin." She spoke my name in a calm tone, but it carried an invisible pressure.

"We haven't seen each other in three years, and the first thing you do after coming back is give me such a grand gift?"

As I looked at Celine, I thought of how she had chopped off the hands of our daughter, Sophia Yarrow, right in front of me back then. I recalled how she used Sofie's life to force me to sign away everything in the divorce settlement.

I tugged at the corner of my mouth and gave her a smile devoid of warmth. "That was only the appetizer. If you like, Ms. Lynch, I can serve the main course now."

Terrified, Henry cried out miserably beside Celine. "Cece, it hurts so much… He's gone crazy! Kill him!"

Celine gently patted his back twice to comfort him. Then she continued speaking.

"Justin, it seems that these past few years haven't taught you how to behave. If anything, they've only made you even more reckless."

I leisurely tossed the used tissue into the nearby trash can before lifting my eyes to meet hers.

"Ms. Lynch, that's quite the joke. If we're talking about reckless people, I'd say the monster who let her lover abuse her own daughter fits that description even better."

"You!"

The vein at Celine's temple throbbed, and her grip around Henry's hand tightened suddenly. He let out a pained cry but didn't dare say a single word.

"Justin, take back what you said, and apologize to Henry." Her voice was low, carrying an unquestionable command. "After that, break one of your own hands. Then I might consider letting you crawl out of here and spare your worthless life."

I laughed out loud, as if I had heard the biggest joke in the world. "Celine, are you still living in that dream where you can control everything?"

I stepped forward, moving closer to her and ignoring the bodyguards who instantly went on high alert.

"Apologize to him? Then tell him to return Sofie's hands first!" I pointed at Henry, my face brimming with contempt.

Henry was so frightened that he shrank into Celine's arms.

Celine's expression darkened to a stormy degree as she retorted, "Sofie brought it upon herself! Who told her to upset Henry?"

Hearing the complete indifference in her voice only intensified the murderous look in my eyes.

"Just because of his baseless accusation, you could cut off your own daughter's hands? Celine, even a vicious beast won't harm its own cubs. You're worse than a beast!"

That night, Sofie had been pinned down on the dining table, her small hands held tightly in place.

Celine had held a kitchen knife and brought it down expressionlessly, causing blood to splash all over my body.

Sofie was in agony, screaming and crying until her voice turned hoarse. Eventually, she passed out, with her small body spasming uncontrollably.

Standing to the side, Celine coldly said to me, who had collapsed on the ground, "From now on, she won't upset Henry ever again."

At that moment, I knew that Celine and I would never stop until one of us was dead.

"Shut up!" Celine snapped.

She looked as if I had struck her where it hurt the most, and she shouted, "Justin Yarrow, I gave you a chance, but you've chosen to do things the hard way instead!"

She raised her hand, signaling the bodyguards to move forward. "Hold him down! Since he won't do it himself, you guys do it for him!"

Celine's entire body trembled, and the hand clutching her wrist froze. The hatred on her face was replaced by something far more complicated—shock, confusion, and a hint of guilt she didn't even realize was there. But that guilt disappeared almost instantly, buried beneath her deep-rooted paranoia and viciousness."You're lying!" she roared, her voice sharp and piercing. "If you really cared about her, you wouldn't have let her hands fall into my possession! You wouldn't be standing here wasting your breath with me right now!"Looking at her hysterical state, I found it both ridiculous and pathetic. She would never understand, even in death, that true care was never about obsessing over a pair of cold, lifeless hands. It was about seeking justice for the one who had passed. It was about making those who hurt Sofie pay the most painful price."Celine, keep those two severed hands." I curled my lips into a smile filled with mockery and relief. "Keep them and look at them every day

"Get you killed? You think you're worth that?" I sneered.Celine stared at Henry for a long moment. Then she suddenly let go of him, as though she had touched something filthy. She slowly straightened up, her gaze vacant as she stared into the distance. Then, a quiet laugh escaped her lips. Her laughter grew louder, becoming more hysterical and filled with despair."So that's how it was… It turns out I was the biggest fool all along…"She laughed while tears rolled down her cheeks. Suddenly, she stopped laughing and turned toward me."Justin…" Her voice was hoarse as she spoke my name. "I—""Shut up," I interrupted her, not wanting to listen to another word. "You don't deserve to say my name."I turned to Kiera, saying, "I'm tired."Kiera gave a nod, and at her signal, the bodyguards stepped forward and dragged Celine and Henry away."Don't touch me!" Celine violently shook them off.She stared intently at me, bellowing, "Justin Yarrow, so what if I mistook the person who sa

Henry was shaking all over from terror. Tears and snot streamed down his face as he pleaded, "No! Cece, believe me! Justin made it up! Yeah! He planned all of this to frame me!"As if all the strength had been drained from Celine's body, she collapsed to the ground. She stared at me, her lips quivering."Impossible… How could the person who saved me be you…" she muttered to herself, as if she had fallen into some kind of delirium. "That scar…"I scoffed. The movement tugged at my injured wrist, and I sucked in a sharp breath from the pain.Kiera immediately tightened her arm around me, her gaze turning frighteningly cold. "That scar is gone. The day after you kicked him out, he used a shard of broken glass to cut out that entire piece of flesh on the back of his left shoulder."Celine suddenly looked up, her eyes widening.Kiera stared at her, each word deliberate. "He said that whenever he thought about how this scar came about because of a monster like you, he felt disgusted."

Kiera laughed. She released me and slowly walked toward Celine. Then she crouched down, meeting her gaze directly."The Lynch family?" She repeated the words slowly, as though testing an unfamiliar term on her tongue."You mean the Lynch family—the one that only rose to prominence because of Justin's support, but now has a broken cash flow, stolen projects, and several subsidiaries that have been wiped out by the police?"Celine's eyes went wide.Kiera was still smiling, but there wasn't a trace of warmth in her eyes. "What do you think allowed you to stand here acting so arrogant?"She lightly tapped her own head. "Is something wrong with you here?""No way…" Celine's lips quivered. She desperately searched Kiera's face for any sign that she was lying. "You're lying!""Whether I'm lying or not, you know the truth." Kiera stood and calmly brushed the non-existent dust from her sleeve.Forcing myself to stay conscious, I took two steps forward, then looked down at Celine. "I sho

Celine loudly said, "I did it! So what? You want to stand up for this bastard? Do you know what kind of person he is? He's nothing but the Lynch family's d—"Before she could finish saying "dog", Kiera moved. She was so fast that only an afterimage remained. No one saw exactly how she did it. All they heard was a crisp crack, followed by Celine's scream.Kiera had snapped Celine's hand. The blood splattered all over Henry."Watch your mouth." Kiera shook her hand lightly, flicking blood onto the ground.Celine was in so much pain that the veins on her forehead bulged, and cold sweat instantly soaked her temples. She clutched her hand and stared at Kiera in disbelief, then at me. Her gaze looked as if she wanted to tear us apart."Justin, you've got some nerve! You found a mistress to deal with me, didn't you? You think this is enough to bring me down? Dream on!"Henry had been scared witless, and only now did he snap out of it, shrieking, "Call the police! Call the police now! T

Celine stared at the dagger lodged in her shoulder, then looked at me as though I was a stranger."Justin, you…"She clutched her shoulder, dark red blood seeping through the gaps between her fingers.Deathly silence fell over the room, and everyone stood frozen in place.Leaning against the pillar, I curled my lips into a smile. "Does it hurt, Celine? This is only the beginning."Celine's gaze darkened with murderous intent, and she was just about to speak when her phone rang. She pulled out her phone impatiently. The moment she saw the caller ID, her brows knitted tightly together."What?" she barked the moment she answered.A short while later, Celine's face visibly turned ashen."What did you say? Wiped out? Who did this?"She suddenly looked up, her eyes locking onto me as though they wanted to bore holes through my body.As the person on the other end continued reporting frantically, Celine's breathing grew heavier, her chest heaving.Without warning, she hurled her p
