LOGINErin's POV
“Now you are not who I expected to see walking through that door,” Azure Blackwood sat in his expensive suit at a cheap laminate table similar to the one in the room I’d just left.
His leg was propped up on his knee, and he looked utterly relaxed for someone who had just found out that they might be having a baby with their enemy's wife.
“You’ve got to be playing some sort of prank,” I turned towards Dr. Swart, eyes pleading with him to laugh it off, and take me to the right room.
This couldn’t be happening.
“Mrs. Connolley, I can assure you that there is no prank happening,” Dr. Swart offered a tense smile. “This is the donor whose sperm was used in your egg. It appears that the two of you know one another?”
“Loosely,” I mutter.
Azure smirks, “Very loosely.”
“Shut it,” I snarled, making him let out a chuckle.
Azure Blackwood was your typical man of power. He flaunted himself with fancy cars, did numerous interviews over the years bragging about his accomplishments, and had every woman in the state of Oregon drooling over his perfect face and body.
We’d run into each other more than once at Gala’s and charity auctions. Once, he’d purchased a date with himself for the low price of one-million dollars just to avoid going on a date with someone random.
I wanted to be angry about it, but it was honestly a genius plan.
“In that case, we can skip introductions,” Dr. Swart hesitantly moves to the opposite side of the table with his thick folder, and I take the furthest seat from Azure.
“Two weeks ago, there was an issue with a new employee and, unfortunately, that involved Mrs. Connolley’s egg and Mr. Blackwood’s sperm. While this is still in the very early stages of development, we wanted to have the two of you meet as soon as possible to decide what to do moving forward,” Dr. Swart explained, beginning to pull out paperwork.
He slid a document over to me, showing the tests that were run on Azure, ensuring that he was a healthy donor for IVF. He received one that showed that I was a healthy egg donor as well.
“How does something like this happen in such a renowned clinic?” Azure arched a brow, looking bored as he reviewed my paperwork.
“Human error,” I hissed. “It’s actually quite natural to make mistakes.”
“Not for me,” he spoke slowly before sliding his tongue along his teeth beneath his lips. “But certainly, you must be used to it considering you’re here.”
The memory of Rowan’s harsh words flood my mind. You’re not broken. That’s what he said to Ophelia.
I was broken.
“Natural or not, we plan to take full responsibility for the mistake. The nurse in question has already been terminated, and refunds have been backdated. All future appointments will be comped as well. Please understand that this is a one in a million chance and does not happen often, therefore it is not taken lightly.”
“Money isn’t an issue,” Azure waved his hand, as if it didn’t matter, but to me, it did. It really fucking did. Because in a few short months, I was going to be on my own, without the support of my millionaire husband. Sure, if I played my cards right, I wouldn’t be left penniless, but IVF is costly, and every penny will matter when it comes down to raising my child. ‘
“What is the next step?” I ignored Azure, focusing on the doctor.
“You said you’d taken a test,” he arched a brow, and that was the moment Azure turned his attention to me.
“Yes,” I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand up under his scrutinizing gaze. “It was positive.”
“You probably should have led with that,” Azure’s tune shifted entirely. “You’re pregnant? As in, carrying my baby?”
I dug through my purse, tossing the pregnancy test with two bright pink lines at him. He caught it with ease, not looking the slightest bit disgusted while holding my piss stick, and just stared at it with wide, bright gray eyes.
“We’ve implanted over thirty donors,” his eyes slowly raised to Dr. Swarts, “And you’re telling me she’s the one that stuck?” Azure thumbed towards me, and my shoulders fell.
For a whole two seconds, I thought he might actually be a decent human, but then he decided to open his mouth and ruin it.
“Fuck you,” I hissed under my breath.
“You wish, sweetheart,” he winked.
“We haven’t confirmed it yet here in the clinic, but as soon as we conclude this meeting, Mrs. Connolley will be taken in for further testing,” Dr. Swart explained, wringing his hands nervously. “While I go order the tests, you two can discuss what happens next.”
The sound of the door closing made my heart race.
I was alone in a room with Azure Blackwood.
“Where is Rowan on this lovely morning?” Azure smirked. “Didn’t you want to let the hubby in on the fact that you were pregnant with another man’s baby?”
I ignored his dig, “I’m keeping this baby.”
“I wasn’t planning on letting you run off with him,” he snorted.
“Him?”
“Oh yes, you are carrying my son.”
“That’s quite sexist. Do you have anything against having a daughter?”
“Not in the slightest, I just know you’re carrying my son,” he shrugged, as if that were enough of an explanation. “Did you tell him already?” Azure looked like a crazed man, eyes wide and wild as he stared at me with that damned smirk. “Rowan, I mean.”
“You’re being awfully laid back about this situation. Won’t your partner be upset?”
“Don’t have one,” he shrugged.
My brows furrowed together, “Then why are you going through IVF?”
“Are men not allowed to want children without a woman in their life?” he tilted his head, staring at me with a hardened gaze. I swallowed thickly, realizing that I was just spouting off nonsense. “And here I thought I was being the sexist one.”
He didn’t need a partner. Just like I didn’t need one either.
“I can pay you handsomely when you give birth. Then you can spend the rest of your life in luxury while trying for a baby of your own,” Azure explained at my silence. “I’ll have Finnick draw up legal documents.”
“Are you out of your fucking mind?” I snapped at the insinuation. “This is my baby too.” I stood, jabbing my finger into my chest.
“Are you really planning to destroy your marriage with this?” his scoff wasn’t surprising, but whatever he saw in my face must have tipped him off, “Wait,” Azure sat up straighter, “There is a reason Rowan isn’t here, isn’t there?”
“I will not be pushed out of our child’s life,” I whispered, ignoring his question. “You can either coparent with me or walk away. But you don’t get to demand that I give away the only child I’ve been able to conceive.”

Erin's POV“Steal?” I pressed my back against the stainless-steel wall opposite of Creighton King. His dark, beady eyes haven’t strayed from mine, and I know this is his typical scare tactic. He’s well known for using intimidation as a tool for business, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t work. There was something about him that made my skin crawl in a way that you felt deeper than the surface.Creighton’s face doesn’t shift. There’s no grin any longer, no frown, not even indifference…. “Let me tell you something, Erin Connolley,” I don’t miss the shift in his tone while saying my married name, but I don’t let it show on my face.I just needed to focus on getting through this meeting, and then we’ll be on the home stretch. After the paternity results come in, I’m sure they’ll be leaked to the press, which will likely create a shitstorm of stories. I’ll have to reach out to Andrea and allow her a personal interview. It’s the least I could do after all but abandoning my duties as a jo
Azure's POVFinn never responded to my last message. He must have fallen asleep again.I fell back against my chair, nearly knocking over the telescope in the process. He only had a few weeks before….“Fuck,” I snarl, ripping at my hair. Strands tear from my scalp, but I can’t find it within me to care. I keep trying to uphold this image that I’m not dying on the inside. I keep telling myself that I can figure it out, and do whatever the hell needs to be done to ensure Finn gets treatment, Erin stays safe, and Enzo doesn’t lose himself along the way, and yet… Everyone seems to be slipping through my fingertips like sand.I can’t save anyone…Leaning forward, I try to distract myself. This telescope cost a pretty penny, but as Erin’s face came into view, every cent was worth it.She looks stunning as always, glowing. Fucking glowing carrying my pup.‘Our pup.’ ‘Get out of here. You’re stealing her time later.’‘Jealous much?’ Nero snickers.I’d roll my eyes, but that would mean I lost
Erin's POV“This won’t hurt the baby, right?” My palms were sweating as I tapped my fingers against my thigh nervously. The nurse smiled, not pausing to stop pulling out supplies, “Modern medicine has come a long way. We just draw from your arm now.”Cecelia instructed that Az and I arrive separately just in case we were being followed by anyone pertaining to Rowan. I’m not even sure that I care anymore about being seen. At first, I thought the backlash would destroy my case, but as time has passed, my desire to focus on more important things has won out over my desire to destroy Rowan. And besides, I know the men in my life well enough to know that Rowan will never get off scotch free for what he’s done to me.“You seem happy,” the nurse startles me, looping a band around my upper arm.“For the first time in a very long time, I am.”“Good,” she lined up the needle, counting to three before poking me, “Bringing a child into the world is a blessing, no matter who the father is…. All do
Finn's POV“What the hell did you need these for?” Enzo drops my laptop bag onto my lap, brow arched. “Aren’t you supposed to be ‘taking it easy’?”He rolled his eyes while saying that, making me chuckle.“I haven’t quit taking it easy, asshole,” I muttered, knowing we were both just poking fun.The truth was, I was dying in here. Figuratively and literally. It’s not only infuriating, but the mental toll is exhausting. My legs are restless while being too weak to walk more than a few minutes. My mind is running a million miles a minute, but I’m so god damn exhausted, I just want to sleep, and the sedation... A shiver rolls through my body.Please... Not today. The quiet in my head is something I had entirely forgotten existed. Nash’s presence was something I’d grown used to. Even in his silence, I could feel him. That emptiness… It’s too much sometimes.“So, what’d you need those for?” Enzo nods towards the laptop case, a few loose strands of hair falling over his forehead before he s
Azure's POVErin’s breath catches in her throat when I grind my hips forward, allowing her to feel exactly what she’s doing to me.My fingers trail along her outer thighs, and I watch the dramatic shift in her breathing. Her chest rises and falls rapidly. It’s been too long since I’ve been in this position. We’ve been busy, tired, and quite frankly; Stressed the fuck out, but right now, I want to take my time and savor this moment.“Az,” Erin’s voice is breathy, and the sound goes straight to my dick.Nero has been restless lately, and I thought it had everything to do with Finn and Nash, but as Erin grows increasingly more aroused; I pick up the sweet scent of pheromones. She must have been giving off microdoses in the short time that we’ve spent together, but right now…. Fuuuuuuck. I need a taste. No, I need to drown and get drunk on that scent. If I die between her legs, just know that I died the happiest fucking man on the planet.“Have I ever told you how absolutely perfect you a
Erin's POV“This should be the other way around,” Az mutters around a spoonful of cherry cordial ice cream. According to Enzo, that is his favorite, and I was a tad nervous that he was steering me in the wrong direction intentionally, but given the fact that Azure's eating it without complaint; I'll trust him this time.“I’m enjoying this,” I’m exhausted down to my bones, but spending time with just Az feels nice. I can’t remember the last time we just sat down and talked. With everything that has been happening recently, it feels like we’re an old married couple in the thick of life and not… Freshly in love. That thought has always terrified me. The idea of complacency, which is sort of hilarious considering that’s all my relationship with Rowan ever was.Complacent.“Fine,” he beckons me towards him with his index finger, “But you’ll have to let me repay you,” his lips taste like cherries and chocolate and I linger, swiping my tongue at the corner.“Can I not just take care of my hu
Azure's POV“You realize that your personality can be a bit strong sometimes, right?” Finn shakes his head from the passenger seat.I didn’t really give a damn. Take me as I am or get the fuck out of my life. Erin would grow to find me dashing. Charming. Amongst other things…“Do you realize that I
Erin's POVThe moment Rowan left, I retrieved the manilla envelope that Finnick had given me, breathing a sigh of relief when I found it just where I’d left it.I walked into my own office, shutting, and locking the door behind me. In the off chance that Rowan decided to come back, I wasn't about t

Erin's POV“What the…” my words were cut off as I looked in the mirror. My normally flat stomach had the tiniest beginnings of a baby bump. I turned forward, and back to the side at least twenty times, staring in shock. This was madness. It didn’t make sense.I was only technically four weeks along,
