LOGIN***Megan's POV***
“Ethan, Cole, darling, come over here” I called out to my boys who were all dressed up. “Momma, where are we going again?” Ethan shrugged. “Darling, we're going to somewhere fun, where you'd get to meet new friends.” “You mean school?” “Yes, school” I said grabbing his cheeks, he pouted his lips. I turned to find Cole folding his arms and standing at a corner. “Cole, honey, what's wrong?” He shook his head. “Nervous?” “Well… a little, meeting new friends is fun but I'm sad.” “Why?” I said adjusting his collar. “Don't be so sad, okay, your new friends would love to meet and you don't want them seeing a sad face do you?” He shook his head. “Good, now let's put on a bright smile…” “And go conquer the world!” They shouted in unison, lifting their little hands in triumph. “That's right!” They had on their new school uniform and were looking sharp as ever. Backpack all packed and ready for a fresh start. I ushered them into the waiting car, Kai had offered to get me some guards but I didn't want the attention in this new town, besides the boys hated the crowd. Just a driver and a caretaker were enough due to my very busy schedule combining as a mom, being Lady and my new business Raven Vogue. For today I was driving my kids to their new school by myself. I made my way to Moore academy and I must say, Kai really outdid himself. “Woah..” Cole was the first to react, I smiled lightly. “Uncle Kai really gives his all out for you boys doesn't he?” “Momma, this school is too big!” Ethan gasped, his tiny face pressed to the car window. Cole nodded slowly, eyes wide. “It looks like a castle.” I smiled, getting out of the car while holding their hands as we walked past the gates. “It’s not a castle, my love, but it’s a place where you’ll learn and grow. Remember what we said? New friends, new smiles.” We were greeted warmly by one of the teachers, a kind woman with glasses who crouched to their level. “Welcome, Ethan and Cole! We’re so happy to have you here.” The boys gave shy nods. Ethan hid a grin while Cole clung tightly to my hand. I bent down and kissed their foreheads. “You’ll be fine, okay? Mommy has to go to work now, but I’ll check on you later. Be brave.” Ethan puffed his little chest. “I’ll protect Cole.” Cole frowned. “I don’t need protection.” I chuckled, ruffling their hair. “Both of you protect each other. That’s how it should be.” After handing them over to their class teacher, I lingered a moment longer, watching them settle into their seats. They looked so small, yet I knew they carried my whole world in them. Taking a deep breath, I left the school. My heart tugged, but I reminded myself this was the start of something beautiful. I pulled out my phone and dialled Kai's number. “Meg” his voice rang out. “Settled the boys in?” “Yea… they seem to love it here, thanks Kai, for all you do.” “Come-on, it's nothing, they're just like sons to me you know.” I cleared my throat. “So, about the caretaker you would be getting for the boys, I'd like to interview her myself.” “That's alright, you should come over to the warehouse by 9 then. You could meet her there.” “What? A caretaker who knows about my identity?” “Don't worry about that, you'll know why when you see her.” “Alright, if you say so, got to go now, got some business to handle.” “Ciao” ***** ***Narrator’s POV*** The day went by quickly at Moore Academy. Children played, laughed, and scribbled in their new books. By the closing bell, the halls were filled with chatter as parents and caretakers came to collect their little ones. Ethan and Cole waited quietly on a bench near the fountain. Their driver had been delayed in traffic, so the twins swung their little legs and hummed a song they both made up. Just then, a tall, older man in an elegant suit walked through the yard. His face carried the marks of age, wisdom, and power. It was Don Julian. Joe's father. He had come to speak with the school board about a charity project. But as he passed by the fountain, his steps slowed. His keen eyes softened when they landed on the two boys sitting together. Ethan spotted him first and whispered to his brother, “Look, Cole. That grandpa looks really rich.” Cole blinked. “And scary.” Don Julian couldn’t help but chuckle. Something about the twins pulled him closer. He walked up and stopped before them. “Hello, boys,” his deep voice rumbled kindly. “Why are you sitting here all alone?” Ethan tilted his head. “We’re waiting for our Mom.” Cole, more cautious, studied him. “Who are you?” Don Julian’s lips curved into a rare smile. “Just an old man passing by. But I must say, you two look very… familiar.” The twins glanced at each other, clueless but curious. “You talk like a boss,” Ethan said innocently. Don Julian raised a brow, surprised at the boy’s straightforwardness. “And what makes you think that?” “Because everyone around here looks busy, but you walk like you own the place,” Ethan replied, grinning. Cole tugged at his brother’s sleeve. “Don’t be rude.” Then, looking up at Don Julian, he added softly, “Sorry, sir.” The old man chuckled, the sound deep and genuine. “No need to apologize. Your brother is very observant.” He crouched down so he was closer to their level, his eyes studying their faces. The brown hair, those green eyes, so familiar it made him uneasy. “What are your names?” he asked gently. “I’m Ethan,” said the bolder one, pointing proudly to his chest. “And this is Cole. He doesn’t talk much.” Cole frowned. “I do talk.” Don Julian smiled at their playful bickering. “Ethan and Cole… strong names. How old are you?” “Five,” they said together, their voices almost identical. He nodded slowly, his thoughts racing, though his face remained calm. Five years old. That would mean… The caretaker finally hurried over, bowing quickly when she saw him. “Sir Julian, my apologies. Their driver is almost here.” Don Julian straightened, giving her a polite nod. Then he turned back to the boys, his expression softening once more. “Be good, Ethan and Cole. And remember…” He tapped a finger lightly to Ethan’s chest, then Cole’s. “Courage and kindness will take you far.” Both boys smiled, though they didn’t fully understand. As he walked away, something lingered in Don Julian’s heart. Maybe he was just an old man but he definitely wasn't clueless, those boys reminded him of a younger Joe.Megan's POVI stepped out of my room, not quite sure how I was supposed to feel after that call with Miranda.I still couldn't believe she'd been shameless enough to call me about my children with Joe and then ask to meet me as though I owed her an explanation. The nerve of that woman.Kai's voice, along with the boys', echoed down the hallway. It seemed they'd finally wrapped up their gaming session and were heading for breakfast.I leaned against the staircase, resting my hands on my waist as I watched their faces light up the moment they saw me."Momma!"Ethan and Cole ran toward me, wrapping their little arms tightly around my waist."Good morning, Momma! We missed you!""Good morning, my sweet boys."I crouched to their height and planted a soft kiss on each of their foreheads."I guess I deserve one too... or don't I?" Kai smirked as the boys ran ahead toward Kathie."Kai..." I waved him off shyly. He remained standing there, hands on his hips, wearing that same smug smile."Okay
Joe's POV"Get in the car."I motioned to Miranda, who had just gotten off the phone with Megan and was leaning against my car."Do you think she'll agree to meet me?" she asked, placing a finger over her lips as she climbed into the passenger seat.I started the engine."Well, Megan is stubborn and needs a lot of persuading, so no, I don't think she'll agree just yet. That's why you need to keep pestering her."I drove out of the hotel garage where Miranda and I had been staying.I mean, what was a little meeting with Miranda without actually having some fun?Sure, I'd promised Megan this would be the last time I ever touched Miranda. It was cheating, and yeah... it was pretty bad of me.But no one becomes a saint overnight.I needed practice. And maybe... a little more self-control.I hadn't asked Miranda to call Megan because I genuinely wanted them to meet.Although...That would be a nice bonus to my plans.I just wanted Megan to know I was back with Miranda.I wanted her jealous
Megan's POVI'd spent hours checking the clock, pacing from one end of the living room to the other while waiting for Kai to return from his meeting with Anton.I was desperate to know what they'd discovered and what they had discussed. After waiting for what felt like forever, I decided to take a short nap.Apparently, my body had been far more exhausted than I'd realized because what was meant to be a brief rest turned into much more.I sprang upright in bed with a gasp.Morning sunlight poured through the curtains. My heart lurched.Had I overslept?Without bothering to put on my slippers, I hurried out of my room and rushed straight to Ethan and Cole's bedroom.Empty.I checked the living room.Nothing.Only guards and maids moved about, carrying on with their morning duties as though everything was perfectly normal.Panic gripped me.I grabbed the arm of a passing maid."Where are my boys?"My voice came out far more frantic than I'd intended. The poor girl stared at me, visibly
Joe's POVI was awake before dawn, feeling strangely enthusiastic, almost whole—as though a missing piece of me was finally falling into place.Yesterday's conversation with Miranda had gone far more smoothly than I'd expected. Apparently, her love for me was enough to make her play along with my dirty little games without stopping to think about the consequences.Maybe I was wrong for taking advantage of her feelings. But what choice did I have?I needed my kids.More importantly...I needed Megan. She had to be with me and no one else, and I'd do whatever it took to make that happen.Even if it meant using Miranda. After all, wasn't she the reason everything fell apart in the first place? She drugged me, took me back to my apartment, then slept with me while her own sister was under the same roof.If only she'd been content with keeping things between us—low-key, casual, just fun—maybe Megan and I would still be together.Maybe we'd still have our family.Maybe she'd still be waitin
Kai's POVI walked into Anton's base, loosening my tie and rolling up the sleeves of my shirt. The place was secluded, tucked away from the warehouse and every other sacred location—a facility only Anton, his men, and I knew existed."Welcome, Boss. This way, please," Anton said, leading me deeper inside.Rows of large computers lined the room while armed men stood guard, surveying multiple feeds. Tech experts typed vigorously on their keyboards, monitoring every detail. The monitors glowed brightly, displaying surveillance footage of the roads leading to Megan's mansion and its surrounding perimeter."We've been reviewing surveillance footage from the past few months," Anton began. "What we found was... interesting. Several vehicles have repeatedly tailed Megan's car after she leaves work."I nodded, standing beside one of the workstations as a technician pulled up clips showing different cars following Megan from a distance. One after another, the vehicles appeared on screen. Each t
Joe’s POVI enjoyed a thick glass of wine in my penthouse, expecting the arrival of my esteemed guest, my legs crossed on the table, tie slightly undone and a knowing smirk sitting at the corner of my lips.Carl sat across from me typing furiously on his laptop as he kept stealing glances my way.“Ask,” I finally said, looking away in delight and suddenly growing bored of his quiet stares. “Why do you keep staring like you’ve suddenly lost your ability to speak these days?”“You look exceptionally confident these days,” Carl muttered. “For a man whose ex-wife and kids are currently being protected by another man.”“Point of correction,” I grinned. “My wife. Megan and I are still legally married. And second of all, the hell with that bastard. I have a sweet plan on how to win Megan back and have my kids calling me papa.”Carl rolled his eyes immediately.“This is the time to be careful, Joe. No time for those reckless steps you always took toward Megan. She’s feisty now and extremely g
Megan’s POVThe phone sat on the coffee table like a snake. I stared at the screen. The words were still there.“I know your big secret.”My heart dropped so fast it hurt. My fingers turned cold. For a few seconds I forgot how to breathe. I read the message again. And again. The letters didn’t chan
Megan’s POV“Thank you.”Kai said it without words, only with his eyes, as he walked back toward the podium. The look he gave me was steady, grounding, like he was silently telling me to hold on just a little longer. And I did, because I trusted Kai's judgement, he may have hid things from me but h
Megan’s POV“Are they sound asleep now?” I asked Kathie absentmindedly as soon as I heard her footsteps in the living room. The house was quiet now—too quiet. I sat stiffly on the couch, my elbows resting on my knees, fingers intertwined. The thought of losing to Joe was not as frightening as the t
****Kai’s POV****I wasn’t exactly proud of the way I slipped out of Megan’s question earlier.A half smile and a soft touch to her cheek.Distraction has always been my strongest weapon. I’d used it in interrogations, negotiations, executions—moments where hesitation meant death. But using it on M
