Vaughn’s Point of View

I held Orana’s hand tightly in mine as we stepped into James’s club. James looked up, his eyes drifting from me to Orana, an eyebrow arching with skepticism.

“Is she supposed to be here for this?” he muttered under his breath, stepping aside as we walked past him.

“Yes,” I answered. “What’s the situation?”

He led the two of us down the back hallway toward the private security office. “You are good, O?”

“Yep. I’m good. Thanks, James,” she said, offering him a faint smile.

  • His Rejected Wife: The Billionaire’s Regret   Chapter 170

Orana’s Point of View“What do you mean I shouldn’t speak to Darian?” I asked Vaughn as he steered me away from the monitoring room and down the hallway. A few people walked past us, and he walked towards me as I stepped back, shielding me from the passing crowd.“We need to act like we don’t know anything so we can see his endgame,” he said, his voice clipped and tight.I frowned, pulling against his grip. “That doesn’t make any sense. He’s out there, and we know—”“We are not certain it’s him,” he cut in, his voice laced with certainty.I let out a dry, incredulous chuckle. This was complete bullshit. Something had happened on that phone call he took, and the energy shifted the exact second he answered it. And now he suddenly wanted to stand down and do nothing? It was crazy.“Vaughn,” I said, stepping right into his path to force him to stop. “Is there something you’re keeping from me?”Because at this point I hated being kept in the dark, he knew it, and I always knew it.He loo

I’m good. Thanks, James,” she said, offering him a faint smile. But I felt her palm go cold and clammy against mine. A sign that she was terrified out of her mind.I looked down at her, giving her fingers an assuring squeeze. She glanced up and offered me a soft, grateful smile before we stepped through the double doors.James ran us through everything his team had uncovered: the IP addresses, the encrypted servers, how they had traced the messages, and how he could get Henry out of that place. “It doesn’t make sense. Why would Darian do that?” Orana asked,

  • His Rejected Wife: The Billionaire’s Regret   Chapter 168

Orana’s Point of ViewIf there was one thing I had learned to master over my life, it was reading people’s faces. Months ago, Vaughn’s unreadable face would have been impossible to read, but now? I could read every single subtle shift. I knew the expressions that meant good news, and the dark shift when he was pissed. The hand gently stroking my thigh slowed to a complete stop, and my heart raced. This was bad news. Very bad news. They found the person behind my father’s release. I could tell from the way his eyebrows pulled together to how his jaw slowly tightened. “Who is it?” I asked him the second he lowered the phone from his ear, sliding it back into his pocket. Before he could answer, Sean stormed back into the kitchen, his own phone clutched tightly in his hand, his jaw set in a hard line.“You got the news?” Sean asked Vaughn.Vaughn gave a slow nod, his eyes flicking to me with pity. Gosh, I hated that look. I hated being pitied by people, and especially my husband.“Who i

Vaughn’s Point of View“A stór,” the word tore from my throat like a plea as I held my wife flush against my chest. She was safe, back where she belonged, in my arms. Nothing in this world had terrified me more over the last twenty-four hours than the thought of her crying herself to sleep alone in our bed last night.“If I knew I’d get a welcome like this after spending a night in a cell, I would’ve gotten arrested a long time ago,” I murmured against her hair, trying to lighten the air.She didn’t laugh. Her arms only locked tighter around my neck, and the sound of her sobs hit me straight in the gut.“I’m fine, a stór. I’m safe,” I whispered, rubbing my hands down her back. But she held on for dear life, refusing to let go. Over her shoulder, Dante gave me a knowing look, offering a relieved nod.“Where’s Liorah?” I asked softly, pulling back just enough to look at her.“Penny took her for the day,” Orana explained, her hands immediately moving up to frame my face, her tear-fille

Orana’s Point of View“Are you pregnant?” I asked her, my voice dropping to a low, breathless whisper after I moved her away from everyone.Sienna froze, blinking back tears as her eyes flicked nervously toward Sean, who was standing by the window speaking to his contact at the courthouse. A single tear spilled over her lash line, and she slowly gave me a tiny, agonizing nod.“And?” I pressed gently. “Sienna... what’s going on?”“I don’t know,” she choked out, her voice trembling. “Things are... complicated for us right now.”“Does Darian know? How far along are you?” I asked, searching her pale face. How on earth did I miss this?“Fifteen weeks,” she murmured, looking down at her hands.“Why didn’t you tell me?”“I don’t know, Orana!” she sniffled, looking up with pain in her eyes. “You were going through so much... you had a miscarriage. I wasn’t about to parade around telling you I was pregnant when you were grieving your baby...”She paused as I closed the distance between us, step

Orana’s Point of View“Mama, is Dad Vaughn going to be fine?” Liorah had asked me late last night, her little voice trembling as we curled up in bed together after I gently explained as much of the truth to her as I could.“Yes, baby. He’s going to be just fine,” I had assured her, pressing a soft kiss to her temple as she whispered how much she wished she could see him.I told her everything would be okay. But this morning, as the sun broke over the horizon, I wasn’t so sure.Dante had called at dawn, instructing me not to go to the courthouse for the bail hearing. He told me to stay home, carry on with work, and pretend everything was normal so the media wouldn’t smell blood. Being a Monday, I had to go into the office for a meeting scheduled around the same time Vaughn’s hearing was taking place. So I decided to have a Zoom meeting instead, which I did.Sean convinced me to take time off right after I gave him an earful for hiding my father’s involvement from me. Now, my entire ki

Orana’s point of view“Can you tell me why the hell we are not going to this meeting?” Edward asked, plopping down on the armchair in front of me.I glanced at him. His thick curls looked messy, yet the outfit he wore today made him look so handsome. I smiled at myself, then lowered my gaze back to

Orana’s point of viewSpending the day with Liorah was so nice. I had missed my little girl, and I didn’t think I would enjoy spending time with her like this.We moved through shops while she held my hand the whole time, her grip small but certain, as if she knew I wouldn’t let go.She laughed at

Orana’s point of viewSomething was off. I felt the way my head throbbed, but it also didn’t smell like berries; it smelled spicy and woody. The bed was too soft and too big. But I didn’t hear the sound I woke up to yesterday.Liorah.I sat up so fast, feeling lightheaded at the speed I woke up, my
