The girl behind Daniella adjusted herself immediately.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, turning her face around to make sure she didn’t embarrass herself in front of the other girls.
“Sorry? Really?” another voice scoffed from behind
“You think he picks weak girls? You’re not even going to stand a chance” the lady standing beside Daniella muttered under her breath.
“As if any of us would be picked?” A tall slim girl whispered
The room went silent. It was true Christian Harper had never lived with any woman not even as a house help, he was so tight, mysterious and extremely secretive.
He’d prefer his male business partners over having any females around, he was already 32 and not ready to settle and get married to any woman, something about him hated the opposite gender with passion, and for some reason this got his mother worried.
She had tried several times to hook him up on a blind date but for some reasons the only thing that mattered to Benson was his wealth and his business.
So right now she’s using a different tactic to get him to get married, by getting him a house help even though he had tons of male cleaners she just wanted to see a woman in the house.
Angella on the other hand met Christian at a get together party a few months ago and for some reason she found him not only attractive but surprisingly sweet, for a man who literally had no social life and would always frown at the sight of a woman.
She literally became so obsessed and somehow found her way into his home and finally getting to meet his mother, but it was obvious Christian had no interest in her so she automatically became a pest always following his mother around trying to win the heart of a man who had never shown concern to a woman.
Daniella on the other hand stood on the extreme end of the room, her eyes sharp scrawling through the other girls as she watched them bragged on how they would win the heart of Christian, she smiled softly, her mouth shut.
The other girls were trying too hard dressed sexually, tight dresses, glossed lips, cleavage on display.
Every single one of them dressed like they were here to be married and not to get a job.
Daniella's eyes lingered around the room, she was studying it.
The light was dim casting a deep red hue across the walls, the kind of lighting that felt controlling, the marble floors were polished to perfection reflecting everything like a mirror. Even the air felt expensive.
The house seemed a bit off, Daniella knew she didn’t come from wealth but then she had visited some wealthy buildings but this was different, not the guards positioning at the extreme end and standing molded statue or the camera’s carefully hidden where careless eyes couldn’t notice.
Everything about this place screamed power and gave a mysterious vibe.
And Daniella noticed it all, because unlike the others she was here on a mission.
The door flung open, every conversation died instantly.
A woman in her early 20s walked in, her heels clicking against the marble floors with complete precision.
Her eyes scanned the room sharp and unimpressed, taking notice of every lady standing in front of her, the perfume she wore suffocating the room but no one dared to make a sound.
“So this is what you all chose to wear?” Her voice grew angrily
“You’re invited to work as cleaners not to present yourselves as prostitute to my boyfriend”
The room burst into confusion, everywhere silent as a grave yard but the confusion in their eyes went unnoticed
Just by looking at their eyes you could read their hearts. Since when did Christian Harper keep girlfriends? Danielle stayed fixed on the young lady, her eyes without emotions. She was too calm.
Before she could mention another word the door flinged open again and just then she walked in. She needed no introduction, Christian’s mother didn’t need to raise her voice to command attention.
“Stand properly,” she said, her voice calm but firm, the girls stood in straight lines.
She walked through them slowly, observing each girl with a level of scrutiny that made it clear she was missing nothing. She lifted the First Ladies chin, turned her around slapped her eyes
“Hmm… too hard” she was plain
She moved to the second one tore her top open squeezed her nipples, the girl’s eyes tweaked as she let out a little moan.
She glared at her and moved over to the third lady. She pushed her hands up, smelt her pit hole, rolled her eyes and now it was time for Daniella she walked up to her and gashed her teeth.
She pressed her face close to hers and her mouth to her ears she whispered “hope you know you’d never cut the match” her voice thick and serious
Daniella said nothing, her eyes fixed into thin air and just then the door tore open
“‘Mom?” A thick strong voice extremely controlling and would definitely turn everyone on
Christian Harper! He walked into the room unannounced, scanned the girls and then turned back to his mother as if the girls being there had nothing to do with him, In fact they felt like they didn’t exist.
“Mom I would be leaving for the business deal I would be home late” he softly spoke and made an attempt to walk away
“Christain?” His mother called shocked at his ignorant behavior
“Yes mom?” He turned pretending not to notice what was right in front of him
“This!” His mother signaled him
“We’ve done this before,” he said, glancing at his mother. “You already know I won’t pick any of them.”
He turned slightly clearly ready to leave again
And then he paused and it felt like he had seen wrongly.
His brain caught something, he was sure of it.
He turned back and looked at the girls, his gaze landing on Daniella.
She wasn’t trying, she wasn’t competing, the aura from her felt different, she wasn’t even looking at him and this drove him to curiosity.
Everyone looked at his confused and surprised face, they followed his gaze and yes it was on Daniella.
Even the lady from earlier was silently watching him.
Christian stepped close to her, his presence felt heavier but Daniella didn’t flinch. He looked at her trying to figure something out
“How did she…..”
“I knew you’d never make the cut” Angella the woman who walked in earlier snapped
“You!” His voice brought the room back to its quiet state
“I will take her” for a moment everyone gazed at each other
The decision was too sudden, how? What?
Daniella stood calm, not surprised like she had anticipated this moment all along, his mother nodded her head without question.
Christain walked out
“Who are you?” Angella rushed to Daniella grabbing her by the collar but as usual she stayed calculated and quite
“If you ever go close to my man I will behead you” she was stern, raw and angry.
Sleep never came easily that night. Daniella lay awake beside Christian, staring at the ceiling while his arm rested comfortably around her waist. His breathing was slow and even, completely unaware of the battle raging inside her mind.Tomorrow. Seven o’clock. Come alone. The mysterious waitress’s words replayed over and over inside her head. She hated lying to Christian. She hated it even more because she knew exactly what he would say if she told him: You’re not going alone. And if he came… the waitress would disappear forever.Daniella carefully slipped out of bed without waking him. She walked barefoot toward the balcony, wrapping her robe tightly around herself as the cool night breeze brushed against her skin. The Harper mansion slept peacefully beneath the moonlight. For a few moments she allowed herself to breathe. To think.Angela. Sophia. Julian. The mysterious man. Now the waitress. Every answer only seemed to create three more questions.A pair of warm hands suddenly wrap
The moment the waitress turned toward the service elevators, Daniella’s instincts surged to life. She didn’t stop to think. She didn’t pause to consider whether she might be walking straight into another trap. She simply followed. The woman moved quickly, weaving through the bustling hallway filled with employees carrying documents and assistants hurrying between departments. She kept her head lowered, avoiding eye contact with anyone, but every few seconds she glanced nervously over her shoulder, as if she already sensed someone trailing her.Daniella stayed several steps behind, careful not to draw attention to herself. The service elevator doors slid open with a soft ding. The waitress stepped inside.Just before the doors closed, Daniella slipped in after her.The woman stiffened instantly. For a brief moment, neither of them spoke. Only the low hum of the elevator filled the tense silence. The digital display climbed slowly.Twenty-four…Twenty-five…Twenty-six…Daniella folded h
Daniella remained frozen behind her office desk long after the call ended, her fingers still wrapped tightly around the receiver. The silence that followed felt louder than the man’s voice had ever been. She slowly placed the phone back onto its cradle, her heartbeat thundering so violently she could hear it echoing in her ears.“I know you were at Le Noir.”Only one sentence. No threats. No shouting. No demands. Just a simple statement. Somehow, that frightened her more than anything else. Whoever the man was, he hadn’t called to scare her. He had called to let her know she was being watched. She stood up abruptly and walked toward the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. From twenty-eight floors above the streets, everything below looked deceptively ordinary—cars crawling through traffic, people hurrying along the sidewalks. Nothing suggested that someone could be watching her every move. Yet the feeling clung to her like a shadow.A soft knock interrupte
Morning arrived quietly over the Harper mansion, but peace was the last thing either of them felt. The first rays of sunlight filtered through the bedroom curtains, casting soft golden streaks across the polished wooden floor. Daniella opened her eyes slowly, still disoriented, until the events of the previous night crashed back into her mind with brutal clarity.Angela had disappeared. Someone had threatened her. And Christian had almost seen the notebook she had been using to connect the pieces together. She sat upright immediately. The other side of the bed was empty. Christian was already awake. She glanced at the clock—seven thirty. He never left without waking her. A strange, uneasy feeling settled deep in her stomach. She freshened up quickly and headed downstairs. The dining room was unusually quiet, with only Mrs. Evelyn, the housekeeper, arranging breakfast on the table.“Good morning, Miss Daniella.”“Good morning. Where’s Christian?”“He
“I want you to go undercover.” The moment the words left Christian’s mouth, Daniella genuinely thought she had heard him wrongly. She stared at him from across the office, her brows slowly pulling together in confusion while her brain tried to process what he had just said. “W
“My secretary,” Christian said simply. “Starting now.” The words did not settle immediately. They hung in the air between them, heavy, unexpected, almost unreal. Daniella stared at him, her brows slowly knitting together as if her mind refused to process what she had just heard.
The door didn’t just open; it slammed against the wall with enough force to snap Daniella out of whatever storm she had just walked into. She flinched. Her body jerked slightly as her grip tightened around the file in her hand. “Jesus Christ!” she breathed out, her chest rising sharply. “
The mansion felt and smelt different that evening, of course it was the day everyone has been waiting for, the day contract would be signed, people would display everything their nonchalant teachers have been teaching them. It was D NIGHT. Even the staff moved differently, quieter, more care
