The following week, I only called Jenny late Monday night after she had closed the shop, and we set up another date for Tuesday. According to her, the shop had opened successfully, and Adam had finalized the negotiations. At least we wouldn’t have to hear about Benoit anymore.

On Tuesday evening, we met in the park—it wasn’t far for either of us. She was wearing a short skirt again, paired with boots, but this time, her top was even more revealing.

“Babe,” I said after she kissed me, “are you trying to drive me crazy with these outfits?” I laughed.

“Is it working?” she asked with a mischievous smile.

“Oh, absolutely,” I said. “I’m losing my mind over you.”

“Good,” she laughed.

Our date wasn’t particularly eventful—we mostly talked and kissed on a secluded bench. We agreed to meet there every afternoon.

The next day, everyone arrived early for Uncle Steve’s class. I took the same seat as last week—I no longer felt the need to sit lower. As soon as he walked in, the room fell silent.

“Welcome to all my returning and new students,” he smiled as he set down his things.

“Thank you for handing your completed placement tests to my granddaughter. I’ll be announcing your groups soon. Also, Miss Wenword mentioned that you had many questions—please, go ahead.”

“Professor,” spoke up a new student sitting near me, “what kind of groups will you be announcing?”

“Based on the placement test, I’ll be dividing you into three groups, and your exams throughout the semester will be assigned accordingly. You can earn equally good grades in any group, but you’ll need to answer additional questions. If you didn’t do well on the placement test, it will take more effort to achieve a high grade. However, if you scored well, I’ll expect a deeper level of knowledge, so your base tests will be more challenging,” he summarized.

“Do you have a teaching assistant?” another student asked. “None of the women in the room seemed to be one.”

“I’ve had the same apprentice for two years now, and I’m not currently looking for anyone else,” the professor replied. “And no, they weren’t my assistants. The shorter one is my granddaughter, and the taller one is Dr. Benson’s assistant.”

“Will your apprentice be teaching any classes?”

“Not yet—he’s still in university himself. Any other questions, or shall we begin?”

“Is your granddaughter dating anyone?” someone boldly asked, and the room erupted in laughter.

“Last I heard, there is a lucky guy, yes,” the old man chuckled. “Though I doubt that would be an advantage for a student of mine.” More laughter followed.

“You really lucked out that she doesn’t like duck,” Dave teased Tom. I just smiled.

Jenny and I met in the park every evening, and her outfits grew increasingly tempting—just like her kisses. She sat sideways on my lap, just like two years ago. I knew Paul would be out of town starting Friday morning, so I held back until then, though it wasn’t easy. Jenny clearly struggled to control her desires, which only made her more irresistible.

“You don’t dress like this for class, do you?” I asked between kisses on Thursday night.

“No,” she whispered against my lips. “I change.”

“Good,” I murmured, sliding my hand under her skirt, gently tracing her inner thighs with one finger. She shifted slightly, a bit awkwardly.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Well…” she started hesitantly. “You know…” she trailed off, and I smiled, waiting to see where this was going.

“I don’t know,” I said.

“I—I’m not really good at this kind of thing,” she admitted, flustered. That’s when I realized what she meant.

“Then let me help,” I said with a smile. “Ask me what I’d think if you cooked dinner tomorrow.”

“What would you think if I cooked dinner tomorrow?” she asked cautiously.

“That’s a great idea, Babe” I smiled. “So, shall we meet at your place tomorrow evening?”

“Y-yes,” she said, blushing. I gently stroked her cheek.

“I would have come over even if you hadn’t brought it up,” I laughed. “Otherwise, I’d have just booked us an early dinner reservation somewhere.”

“You enjoy this, don’t you?” she asked accusingly, running her fingers along the back of my neck.

“Very much,” I grinned, pressing a slow kiss to her neck. “Babe, how much do I need to prepare?”

“Uh…” she stammered. “N-not at all.”

“How come?” I looked up, raising an eyebrow. “You’ve only known I was here for a week.”

“At the end of summer, I talked to Mayoko, and she convinced me to start taking the pill—she said it would make everything more predictable,” she rambled. “My doctor agreed, so I’ve been on it for about a month now”.

“She knew I was coming,” I laughed, my lips wandering along her neck. “You know, I love that you haven’t learned a single thing in the past year?”

“I think I’ve forgotten a lot too,” she whispered, gently biting my ear.

“That’s not a problem,” I said, trying to keep control of both of us. “This weekend, we’ll just do some reviewing.”

“Walk me home now, then,” Jenny smiled as I pulled her hand out of my T-shirt. “Better if we keep some distance.”

“Just until tomorrow,” I whispered against her sternum before walking her home.

On Monday morning, we headed to school, but I knew that during the week, I’d only see her in the evenings because of the shop.“Where were you this weekend, Jay?” Phil asked before class.“With my girlfriend.”“You got a girlfriend pretty fast,” he laughed.“Luckily, that’s never been a problem,” I laughed. I didn’t feel like telling them who she was.Until midweek, our evenings together at her place were all we had. Once Paul returned, I usually slept at the dorm. A few more months, and we’d be together every day anyway. On Friday, after school, I drove us home—we took one car, so we had time to talk.“Babe,” I starte

We barely slept that night, and even during the day, we spent all our time together. But for dinner, she dressed beautifully, wearing her old green-and-silver dress. I had reserved a table at an Asian restaurant on the edge of the park near us. Since the weather was nice and the distance was short, we walked.“Do you like Brian and Mayoko’s apartment?” I asked as we strolled.“I do,” she said. “It’s not a cheap area, but Paul and Brian can afford it.”“Would you live here with me?” I asked, watching her reaction.“W-with you?” she asked, surprised. “I just officially became your girlfriend,” she laughed.“Not now,” I said. “In the future.”“That’s still far off,” she smiled.

Slowly, my life at university settled into a rhythm.Daryl and Aaron found out I transferred here, and they were happy about it. I spent several evenings a week at my girlfriend’s place, swam in the mornings, met up with our friends weekly, and once a month, I went home to do house calls with Uncle Steve. Jenny would either translate or study, but she always came home with me. After she and Adam finished negotiations, she only took on interpreting jobs in rare cases.I was balanced and happy, and my girlfriend shone more brightly each day. She was finally starting to believe that I truly loved her. I was sure plenty of people tried to win her over, but I trusted her completely. At university, no one knew I was Uncle Steve’s apprentice, but in every lecture, I had to be able to answer at least one of his personalized questions.“Are we going to the game tomorrow?” Da

On Friday evening, I went to my girlfriend’s place for an early dinner. She had set the table and prepared a meal, looking just as stunning as she had every other day that week.I handed her the flowers I’d brought, kissed her after slipping off my shoes, and she smiled.“Sit down,” she said, gesturing toward the dining table.“Babe.” I grinned as she started serving, but I didn’t sit. “You do realize that dinner doesn’t necessarily mean dinner?” I laughed.“I thought you were hungry,” she said, cheeks heating as I wrapped my arms around her from behind.“Put everything in the fridge,” I murmured, trailing slow kisses up her neck. “We won’t be eating for a while. I’m craving something else more.”Within minutes, the table was cleared. We kissed breathlessly as I led her to the bedroom. She unbuttoned my shirt while I tugged at hers. I pushed her skirt down impatiently, my hands greedy, while she slipped out gracefully, smirking at my rush. When we reached her bed, I laid her down and

We walked back through the park, and I refused to let go of her hand. It was already dusk, and the streetlights cast a warm glow over the path.“Why have you been so uncertain lately?” I asked as we walked.“Because I’m confused,” she admitted quietly. “I hoped you wouldn’t stay at that faraway university—it was a bad idea even without considering me,” she said in her beloved know-it-all tone. “But I have no idea what you want from me. If you had told me everything at the end of summer, we wouldn’t have had to set all those rules, and I wouldn’t have been so flustered at Brian’s place.”“I love that I can still make you flustered,” I said, stopping under a large tree.I leaned against the trunk and gently pulled her close. I lifted her chin so she would look at me.“I never stopped loving you,” I said, losing myself in her beau
