The two muscular guards hauled my limp body across the freezing concrete floor of the dark basement. They looked around anxiously, realizing there were absolutely no stone tables or altars set up in this hidden room. Seeing nothing else available, they aggressively dumped me onto a lone wooden chair sitting in the center of the space. My muscles were completely useless, and I immediately began to slink sideways, my head dropping as I was about to fall straight off the seat onto the hard floor.

I kept drifting in and out of darkness, hearing muffled whispers bouncing around the empty corners of my mind. Every single time I woke up or went to sleep, I was completely covered in deep wounds, severe cuts, and painful injuries. It felt like this endless cycle of physical pain had somehow become my normal daily routine. It was almost laughable. Since the very first day I arrived at this pack house, everything in my life had completely gone south, and everyone probably looked at me like some kind of bad luck freak. "She is always completely unconscious," a sharp, familiar voice murmured, the words cutting directly into the heavy fog of my dream. "Every single time you look around, she is either sleeping or heavily bandaged up from another disaster. Honestly, it is just ridiculous at this point." I could hear these random sentences floating over my consciousness, along with a dozen other distant murmurs, but my brain was far too exhausted to catch all of them. This small piece of

LUCY POV Michael’s deep, commanding voice still bounced off the dark concrete walls as his heavy boots moved up the basement stairs, his large body carrying Fedora safely away from the carnage. I stood perfectly still in the center of the ruined room, my hands gripping my wooden staff as my gaze briefly locked onto Fedora’s face. For a single second, a heavy feeling hit my chest. With the dim candle light dancing across her skin, she looked completely broken, like a helpless young baby who didn't have a single bit of control over her own limbs or her own life. Dark red blood covered almost every inch of her pale body, dripping from her mangled hands and staining her clothes. She looked so close to the edge of death that I wasn't even sure if her heart would keep beating for another ten minutes. But I didn't have time to feel pity. Turning my head slowly, my eyes locked onto Elda, who was still slumped against the stone wall, clutching her bleeding stomach and trying to gasp for air

Lucy froze in her tracks, her bare feet halting instantly on the blood-stained concrete. Her sharp eyes locked onto the black barrels of Elda's weapons. "If you do anything stupid right now, I will not hesitate to end your life," Lucy stated, her tone cold and unyielding. Yet, despite her harsh words, her voice carried a strange, empty flatness, almost as if she were simply reciting a mandatory line without any real heat behind it, like she was being forced to say it just to buy time. Elda’s finger twitched on the trigger, a wild, desperate grin taking over her bloody face as she pushed the metal barrel deeper against my temple. "Move back!" she shrieked, her voice cracking under the pure panic of the situation. "Both of you, get away from me!" Lucy hesitated for a long, tense moment, her muscles twitching beneath her dark outfit as she calculated her chances. Elda noticed the slight hesitation and bared her teeth, screaming even louder into the dark basement, "I said move back righ

The head priestess kept chanting louder and louder, her voice echoing like a roar inside the small basement. Suddenly, a terrifying change washed over the entire room. The twelve robed assistants froze in their tracks, their bodies stiffening as all of their eyes rolled back until only the pure white parts were showing. At the exact same time, Elda’s features twisted into a mask of pure agony. The color in her eyes began to change, turning completely pitch black as she threw her head back and let out a blood-curdling shriek. It looked as if something incredibly dark and vastly stronger than her own soul was violently forcing its way into her body. She kept screaming and screaming, her nails digging into her palms as the dark energy tore through her veins. Then, completely out of nowhere, a sharp cracking sound cut through the noise. A thick wooden training stick pierced straight through Elda's belly with tremendous force. The impact was so brutal that the pointed wood tore through he

The oldest priestess stared dead into Elda’s furious eyes, her face completely pale but her voice remaining totally stiff and unyielding. "That is the sacred rule of the ancient ritual, Elda," she explained coldly, refusing to back down even a single inch. "Like I just told you before, you absolutely need to drink every single drop of her life force until the girl is completely dead. There are no shortcuts allowed." A wild, animalistic rage exploded inside Elda's chest. Without a single second of hesitation, she pulled her arm back and punched the priestess hard directly in the face. The heavy blow landed with a sickening smack, throwing the older woman backward until she crashed painfully onto the concrete floor. Elda stood over her trembling form, her face twisting with an ugly, dark expression as she shouted at the top of her lungs. "I heard you the first time, you old fool! That was exactly why I asked you if there was another way around the rule! But you just keep saying the ex

Elda noticed my swaying body and snapped her fingers sharply at the twelve women dressed in white robes. "Take her out of that chair right now and lay her perfectly flat on the floor," she commanded, her voice echoing with an icy impatience. The robed women rushed forward in a flurry of white fabric, grabbing my weak arms and legs. They laid me straight down on my back against the freezing concrete, my eyes staring blankly at the dark ceiling. Instantly, the women began pulling thick, dark can
