The phone started ringing again. This time it was Leo.

I picked up.

"L—"

"What the hell, Solayne? Did you sell your phone to buy more dreams or something?"

"Leo, you can be a brat another day. What is going on? Everyone's calling."

"Of course everyone's calling 'cause you're the latest celebrity in town."

My head throbbed the more trying to wrap around it.

"What happened with you and Marshall?" He threw at me, and it felt like I'd been asked what happened with me and the sun. What could possibly happen?

"What're you talking about?"

He sighed. Another call came in from my dad on waiting. Jesus, what the hell is going on?

"This is beyond awkward to say to my own sister, but I'm talking about you two kissing with him running his hands up your thighs and all."

My heart dropped straight to the pit of hell.

I looked at the window again, then pinched myself. This wasn't a dream.

"Leo, what video?" A small tremor ran through my voice.

"It's making waves online. Check it yourself. I already shared it with you."

I didn’t even say goodbye. I hung up and lunged for my phone, my fingers trembling so badly I could barely tap the screen. I opened my inbox and caught a glance at the numerous messages waiting for me.

Dad: you better have a good explanation for this, Solayne. Otherwise, I hope you have someone else to call parents.

Mum: What is going on??? Take my freaking calls!

There were so many others from friends and acquaintances.

I clicked on the link with shaky fingers, my heart starting to race heavily as though it'd not carry me through the rest of the day.

It loaded, and the nightmare unveiled before my eyes.

There I was, pressed against a wall, Marshall Domayne’s mouth on mine, my leg hooked around his waist, his hand sliding up my thigh.

The kiss was intimate; too intimate, like we had done some bedroom business right after that.

And the caption beneath it made my blood run cold:

Marshall's New Slut.

Right then, I got a glimpse of what a heart attack might feel like because the poor organ threatened to fail.

Oh God. Oh God. Oh God.

When had this happened? I racked my brain; there was nothing but a blank screen where my memories should’ve been.

It wasn't even in the pool house. This looked like a corner around the bar. God, I could swear I didn't remember kissing that devil! Who the hell even recorded and released the video?

My phone started ringing again—Mum.

My hands shook so violently that the phone slipped from my fingers and hit the bed with a dull thud.

And then, like a flash, something came back: Someone tapping me. Me laughing. Walking near the bar.

It all blurred, fuzzy edges and chaos. How did I stupidly get so drunk? Did I really kiss that asshole?

Wait...

I slipped a hand under the duvet and down to my pants. It wasn't wet. No soreness either. There was no way we could've... No. I'd be charged for murder if that happened.

My phone ringing again reminded me of the mess I was in. This was worse than a scandal. Dad was going to kick me out, then mum would kill me.

I quickly dialed Leo.

"I hope you weren't proud of yourself watching that?" He spoke before me.

"Leo, did you bring me home?"

"Well, yes. After an anonymous number texted me, telling me you were passed out in your car."

Had that been Marshall?. Shit, why couldn't I remember a damn thing?

"I—I don't remember doing anything in that video," I admitted, but of course he scoffed. Who was going to believe me?

Mum was calling again. I hung up on Leoz deciding to face the lioness.

"Mum—"

"Have you lost your mind, Solayne?" She snapped. "Your father and I were just about to come to your place. What is wrong with you?"

"I'm—I'm sorry, mum. I'm just waking up. I—"

"You have a lot of explaining to do. Your father wants you at the house right now."

Jesus.

"And you better have a good explanation for that video, Solayne. He’s already talking about stripping the company from you! Oh, dear, if you make me lose to that witch, you will never stop paying for it. Get your ass here. Now!"

The line went dead.

SOLAYNE My palms were sweaty. I was so nervous I couldn't keep myself still.I was seated in the boardroom with every member of the board waiting. The only people left were Dad and Brielle.I was sure Dad would be here soon, but I couldn't say the same for Brielle. She'd been very distant since I left the company. I expected him to hand everything over to her immediately after I left two months ago, but he didn't. And over time, I was told she stopped showing up.It was last night when Dad called, telling me to be here for the board meeting. I had no doubt he had called me here to officially end my relationship with the company. This was why I was so nervous.I almost didn't want to show up; but Marshall convinced me and assured me he would wait in the car. So from time to time, I looked at the window, knowing my husband was out there waiting even though I couldn't see him from here.Dad walked in and everyone stood to their feet. The knot in my stomach became tighter.I wouldn't

SOLAYNE Marshall and I were getting married again. The last two weeks had been so calming for me.Marshall and I fell in love more than we thought was possible. We were always around each other and found it so hard keeping our hands off. True to his words, he took his therapy really seriously. Had the expert flown into the country and arranged for accommodation that was very close to ours. That way, the doctor was only a few minutes away if Marshall had an emergency with his urges.I believed in him. Mostly because there was no other option. I didn't see myself living without Marshall Domayne, monster or not. He had become the sun my whole world orbited. The only thought that filled my head when I went to sleep and woke up. Suddenly I started to wonder how I had been managing to live without him this whole time.So yes, the only option I had was to believe he'd overcome this and become better. Because God help me, I was sticking with him through it all.Vance turned up a week aft

SOLAYNE "Where is he?" I asked Marshall a long time later when we were the only ones left in the room.I had just finished eating, taking my drugs and being checked by the nurses."Who are you talking about?" Marshall tried to keep it cool. He was packing up the plates I ate from."You know who I'm talking about. Where's Vance?"He didn't answer or look at me until he was done packing them. Then he reclined in his seat and pinned me with a cold stare."Where he needs to be."He didn't look apologetic about the fact that he went back on his word and stopped trying to restrain himself. He gave me that look that told me he would do it all over again if he had to.I gulped hard, looked down at the floor for some seconds, then up at him."Where is he?" I asked again. "I want to see him."That pulled a surprised look from him. "Why would you want to see him?""I don't know; maybe because he almost killed me?" I fisted my hands. "Vance ruined my life. More than once. Yet I tried to igno

SOLAYNE Marshall and I really did make it happen. The wedding.Although we needed something small, by a private beach. It cost us a lot of money to have the entire place shut off to customers, but well, Marshall made it happen. This wasn't exactly the dream wedding I had in mind growing up. I had always pictured a large church hall filled with people who would all be smiling as I walked down the aisle. Always imagined a very large reception party with my red dress and wine in hand as I moved through the crowd greeting guests. The odds were against Marshall and me, but I was beyond glad we were actually making it happen. He was the last thing that mattered in my life. The only thing that didn't go away. And I also came to realize that losing him would kill me more than everything else did.As I came out of the parked Jeep to walk down the aisle, I noticed we actually had guests. That surprised me.Marshall was already at the altar, his eyes solely on me. So I kept my eyes on him to

II knew I sounded stupid. He had just made it clear our relationship didn't continue because of the deal.He put both hands on my waist again. "Solayne Krestel, just in case I hadn't been clear enough, I'm in love with you. Madly. Truly. I couldn't even let you go after finding out you betrayed me. What makes you think I would let you go even now? The deal has been dead to me a long time ago. You became the deal. And life with you would be beyond a dream come true."My heart was beating too loud. Too erratic."Marshall..." I called in a hushed tone. "I don't—You are..." I shook my head slowly. "You're a murderer.""I've been working on it." His voice turned desperate. "Now more than ever. Look, I am aware it was Vance who hurt you. Believe me, I have pictured multiple ways to make his life unbearable. But I haven't done any of those, babe. I thought of you and refused to hurt him despite how hard it's been. I'm trying to be less of a monster and become a better man for you. I—I badly

I felt cold outside despite how warm it was. I drove carefully, my eyes scanning the road like people would just come out of nowhere and start laughing at me.Okay. Maybe this didn't have to be so bad. Maybe I wouldn't even get to see anyone at all.It took me fifteen minutes to get to the location. It truly was a small facility and didn't look like it had enough equipment. Why would Kylie bring her victim here if she didn't want them to survive?Kylie was already pacing outside and ran to my car the moment she saw me.I hesitated coming out of the car. The road was too busy with too many people. Ninety-five percent of them had probably seen my video. They were all going to see me and laugh at me.Kylie rapped on my window, forcing me to open my door and leave the car."Thank you so much for coming, ma'am. You don't know how worried I was." She went ahead to start explaining how the accident happened. While she did, I kept looking around at the people who were obviously starting to no
