LOGINALEXANDER
The moment Alpha Damon’s gaze settled on me—those ink-dark pupils stark against the whites of his eyes—all I could see was hatred and disdain.
“My daughter!” Jezebel, my stepmother, screamed. In an instant, the once-quiet castle hall erupted into chaos, voices piling over one another.
Before my eyes, Alpha Damon shifted. His massive black wolf was breathtaking, a vivid red streak cutting through his fur. I watched, caught between fear and awe, as he sprang three powerful leaps and vanished from sight.
When I looked around, the pack warriors were already mobilizing. Even a handful of hot-blooded youths—ones who weren’t warriors—gathered in small groups and rushed out after him. For a heartbeat, I wondered what it would feel like to be in Tracy’s place.
Then I forced myself back to reality. No one in this pack would ever organize a search like that for me. If anything, they’d be relieved to be rid of me.
A sudden chill skated down my spine. I swallowed hard. Someone was staring at my back—someone unfriendly. Slowly, I turned and found Jezebel watching me, hatred burning in her eyes. Her fists were clenched so tight they cracked. She didn’t say a word, just turned and walked away, but her glare spoke louder than any threat.
I didn’t dare linger in the castle centre. Too many eyes were fixed on me—too many filled with the same hatred. I swallowed again and hurried out, forcing my heavy legs to run as fast as they could. By the time I reached the main entrance thirty minutes later, I was panting and exhausted, and it felt like I’d been running for a year.
I stayed hidden in my room, hardly daring to step outside. Sleep wouldn’t come, and even sitting offered no comfort. Every so often I peered through the window, waiting. It felt like the longest night of my life. Even exhausted, I couldn’t close my eyes—I kept bracing for something I couldn’t name.
Dawn was just breaking when an ear‑piercing scream tore through the castle. My heart lurched. I didn’t need to be told—the search had ended the way I’d been dreading. I retreated to the far corner of the room, arms locked around my legs, shuddering at every footfall in the hall. As daylight slowly filled the room, my door creaked open, and two young men stepped inside. They looked nearly identical—twins weren’t uncommon in the pack. What was uncommon was the council’s messengers coming here, to me. “Come with us, Alexander,” one said. “Your presence is requested in the council hall immediately.” Fear surged. The large badge on their chests only made it worse. My legs went weak, and I had to force myself to keep pace. By the time we reached the corridor, I was already gasping. That was where I met my stepmother. Jezebel looked disheveled—especially her hair, usually perfectly combed. She loved jewelry and fine clothing; people even whispered her wardrobe could rival the late queen’s. Not today. “You killed my daughter, Alex—cursed child…” she hissed. The words hit me like thunder. I froze, unable to take another step. “Enough!” my father’s voice rang out from somewhere distant. No one else could do what he could—project his voice across space, a gift that had helped him command warriors and seize territory from rogue wolves. Jezebel fell silent. She didn’t block our way again, but her cold stare followed me down the corridor. I didn’t realize I could walk that fast until I was already hurrying away.We walked all the way to the council hall. The messengers the council had sent should’ve been able to cover the distance in a minute, but because of the Presence, they didn’t push me or make things harder.
When we arrived, one of them motioned for me to climb the staircase. I did, and when I reached the wide-open doors, I paused and peered inside.
What I saw stole every bit of courage from me. I couldn’t bring myself to take another step.
Alpha Damon stood before the elders. They sat in a semicircle around a towering, high-backed chair on a platform nearly two metres tall, and the air in the hall felt thick—suffocating.
“Go in,” one of the messengers urged.
I forced my feet to move and stepped inside, walking slowly. Alpha Damon didn’t even look at me. His broad back was rigid, like an unsheathed sword, and the thought that this man was my mate twisted something complicated in my chest.
“She’s here,” one of the elders said. “Now you must decide.”
The words snapped me out of my thoughts, and sweat broke out on my skin. Anyone in this room could determine my life and my fate. I was standing before a council that had condemned countless wolves and carried out ruthless judgments.
“Either you accept her as your mate and remain Alpha,” an elder’s sharp voice cut through the silence, “or you reject her and have her executed—then step down. We will not allow a weak Alpha to lead this pack.”
My heart dropped, as if it had fallen straight into my stomach. Only then did I understand the danger I was in. The pressure in the room seemed to climb by the second. My knees nearly buckled, and I wasn’t sure what was keeping me upright—maybe fear, maybe the instinct not to draw their attention.
I didn’t want to die.
I squeezed my eyes shut, my heart hammering so hard I could hear it pounding in my ears.
ALEXANDERWhen we were done eating, Chris pinned me gently against the wall and stared seriously into my eyes. Then, in amazement, he said, “I didn’t expect you could cook so well. How should I reward you, dear wife?”My heart swelled with happiness. Looking into his eyes, I realized he was completely serious about rewarding me. But he had already done more than enough for me—he had saved me from that hellish pack, cured the poison Jezebel gave me, and given me a carefree life. There was nothing more I could ask of him.I leaned forward and captured his lips in a kiss. Slowly, I raised my hands to his collar and deepened it. I felt his scorching palm settle on my waist, and I melted completely into his warm embrace. But then he suddenly pulled away and stepped back.“I’ll be back.”Those were the last words he said before dashing out the door, and he never returned that night. Without him, the house felt empty and dull. I tossed and turned, hoping he would come back so we could finish
ALEXANDERTony was the driver Chris hired for me. From dawn to dusk, Tony taught me how to drive, and in just two days, I had already gotten the hang of it. I was even able to drive myself to work, though not without placing the learner’s sign all over the car because I was afraid people wouldn’t notice. When I arrived at work, it was still 7 a.m.I met Michael just as he was stepping out of the bar.He looked at me in surprise before asking, “You and Chris don’t fuck in the morning? I always doubted whether that dude was interested in women. Having such a hot chick sleeping beside you, yet he lets her leave for work at 7 a.m.? He has no idea how to appreciate beauty. What a waste of nature’s gift.”The corner of my lips twitched as Michael shook his head, his face full of grievance. He clasped his hands behind his back and walked away without looking back.As I stared at his retreating figure, I suddenly remembered that I had forgotten to greet him.“Good morning, boss!” I shouted.M
ALEXANDERI felt soft lips on my forehead. I opened my eyes slightly, overjoyed, and squinted happily as I looked into his.“Good morning,” I mumbled.Chris looked at me and whispered, “It’s time to go home.”I nodded slowly. I was surprised to see that he had bought another outfit for me. After I quickly changed, we went through the tunnel and made our way to the parked car.We got in, and he drove me to a bar in town. It wasn’t too busy since it was dawn. There were only a few pedestrians and fewer cars, mostly people heading to their offices. He looked at me and said, “You shouldn’t spend all your days at home. You can work at this bar, so you can learn more about the city.”“I agree with you,” I replied. We got out of the car and walked toward the bar. Aside from a cleaner sweeping and mopping the floor, no one else was there. At the counter, the cleaner raised her head and said, “Mr. Chris, the manager is in his office. You’re lucky—he was about to go out to see his new girl, but
ALEXANDERIt was too late when I realized I had fallen into her trap. Her fist had already shot forward, but I was quicker, retreating just before it could land squarely on my chest.I flew backward, losing my footing.Mira looked at me with a cold smile. “Ain’t you going to fight anymore?”Then I heard a faint voice in my heart.“Transform.”I glanced toward Chris. His face was expressionless, but I already knew he was the one who had sent the message. I didn’t question why he wanted me to transform.I turned back to Mira, my eyes growing cold. “As you wish.”A sharp squeaking sound filled the air, followed by the sickening crack of bones shifting and snapping into place. The pain rattled me deeply; it was unbearable, but I gritted my teeth and endured it until the transformation was complete. The moment it ended, I moved. Before Mira could even react, I swatted her across the room and sent her crashing into the wall. The instant her back slammed against it, I lunged forward, caught
ALEXANDERWhen I saw Chris on the floor, he was back on his feet in a flash. He burst into exaggerated laughter, then said with a grin, “Again!”I didn’t hesitate. The moment I moved, I struck him with a swipe of my claw and sent him flying. He landed hard on the floor and looked up at me in surprise.I was surprised too. The first time I hit him, I told myself he simply hadn’t been prepared. But this time, he had been fully ready, and I still managed to land the blow.“What a powerful wolf,” Chris said with a sigh. “The speed, the accuracy, the strength... I can only win if I’m in my wolf form.”I stayed quiet. I didn’t know how to react. For years, I had dreamed of and wished for this day, but now that it had finally come, I didn’t even know how I felt.Chris looked at me casually and said, “Attack me again.”I was just about to move when a shout rang out from behind him.“Enough!”Both of us turned toward the voice and saw Mira striding over. Her face was dark, and she glared at me
ALEXANDERChris’s eyes dimmed as he replied to her gloomily, “Mira, you need to show great respect to my wife. She is the Luna of the pack, not you. I haven’t fallen in love with you in the past three years, I do not love you now, and nothing in the future will change my decision. I hope you can respect my choice and stop dreaming of us ending up together.”Hearing Chris’s harsh words, I realized he was truly angry at Mira for what she had just said. Without hesitation, I decided to claim him.I reached out and wrapped an arm possessively around his waist, then looked at Mira with open contempt. From the corner of my eye, I caught the surprise on Chris’s face.I sneered at Mira. “Chris is my husband. I don’t like other women entertaining thoughts about him. I am jealous and possessive, and I have no intention of sharing my man with anyone—especially not with you.”Mira glared at me with hostility, but her stare did not intimidate me at all. Instead, it only made me bolder. The days of
ALEXANDERShe lunged at me and slammed into my body, sending me rolling across the ground. The impact rattled my bones, and I struggled to push myself back up, my whole body trembling. She looked down at me with scorn. “You’re such a weakling, and yet you dare to be with someone like Chris?”My leg
ALEXANDERI looked at her and immediately understood what they were planning. They wanted to lure me outside, kidnap me, and use me to threaten Chris. How could I possibly fall for such cheap provocation? My brain wasn’t rotten.I chuckled, then looked at her boldly. “Why don’t you come in? This wo
ALEXANDERThen, he suddenly smiled at me, his eyes narrowing slightly as he said smoothly, “Sorry for the oversight, Mrs. Chris. Welcome to my humble bar; it is a great honor to have you here.”His reaction, and the ease with which he adapted, left me speechless for a moment. But I quickly recovere
ALEXANDERChris looked into my eyes and chuckled. Then he said, “In the face of benefits, all familial ties and even the most beautiful friendships wither like flowers. No one is born selfless; we are all self-serving. Those who refuse to accept this are simply delusional.”He turned and left the h
