I collapsed onto the floor, my water mixing with blood as it soaked through the hem of my dress.

A damp chill pooled beneath me. Weakly, I lifted a trembling hand and called out to the nearby maid in a raspy, strained voice.

“Take me to the hospital... quickly…”

The maid looked back at me, her face twisted in a conflicted grimace.

“Luna, the Alpha gave specific orders that we must wait for his return. I don’t dare to disobey…”

“You don’t dare?” I clutched my abdomen, my voice shaking violently from the sheer agony.

“If anything happens to me or the pup, Kaelen will never forgive you. Take me right now!”

Terrified, the maid finally scrambled toward the exit in a panic.

But just as she reached the door, Matt, the Beta, blocked her path.

“Beta, the Luna is going into labor. She needs to get to the hospital immediately,” the maid stammered out meekly.

Matt glanced down at the amniotic fluid staining the floor, then shifted his calm, unbothered gaze to my face, which was contorted in excruciating pain.

“Natalie said she’s just staging a premature delivery. Going into labor right at this moment is likely just another trick to escape the pack. Help her back to her room to rest.”

“If we delay any longer, the pup won’t survive. Please, I beg you, show some mercy.”

I propped my upper body up with the last of my strength, my eyes bloodshot as I implored him.

Matt offered a slight, rigid bow, his eyes completely devoid of warmth.

“Luna, the Alpha is at the hospital accompanying Miss Natalie through her delivery. He gave explicit orders for you to wait until he comes back.

“You know the Alpha’s temper. No one dares to go against his word.”

“I am giving birth right now, I really can’t wait!”

Another violent wave of uterine contractions struck, feeling as though a massive hand had gripped my internal organs and was ruthlessly crushing them with raw force.

I curled into a tight ball from the agony, cold sweat instantly drenching my clothes.

“What are you standing around for? Help the Luna onto the bed,” Matt barked.

Two maids rushed forward immediately. Completely ignoring the sharp pain in my abdomen, they forcefully grabbed my arms and dragged me toward the bedroom.

Suddenly, I felt a warm rush of fluid escaping me. Looking down, I saw it was blood.

“Blood! I’m bleeding!” I gasped, grabbing a maid’s hand.

“Take me to the hospital! If it’s any later, the pup will be in grave danger!”

“Luna, I don’t dare make that decision on my own. I’ll call the pack healer over first.”

The maid forcefully pried my fingers away, her expression clouded with guilt.

“I don’t want the healer! I need to go to the hospital!”

“Luna, please don’t worry. I will go ask the Beta for permission right now.”

With that, the maid turned and fled the room frantically.

The pain in my stomach cut deep into my bones like a knife. Cold sweat, blood, and amniotic fluid continued to seep into the carpet.

Minutes ticked away, yet there was still no sign of anyone returning.

Dragging my bleeding body, I forced myself to crawl to the edge of the bed. I grabbed the hem of the head housekeeper Martha’s skirt just as she walked in, crying out in desperation.

“Martha, please go check on them... I can’t hold on much longer…”

Martha nodded, her face softening with deep pity.

“Hang in there, Luna. I’ll go talk to them right now.”

But the moment she turned around, Matt blocked her path once more.

He walked slowly toward me. When his eyes swept across the blood-soaked carpet, a flicker of hesitation crossed his face, only to be instantly masked by cold indifference.

“Let the pack healer examine her first.”

The healer, Ronald, rushed into the room carrying a medical kit, and several maids immediately stepped forward, pinning down my thrashing limbs.

“Let go of me! I need to go to the hospital! The pup can’t wait!”

Ronald examined me with a completely blank expression, then pulled out a few pills and instructed Martha to force them down my throat.

Kaelen carried my remains into a coffin, placing it directly in the center of the church. He dismissed all of his pack warriors and locked the heavy doors from the inside, forbidding anyone from drawing near.Over and over again, he wiped my face with warm water, meticulously fastening that pink diamond jewelry set around my neck.“Don’t be afraid anymore, Iris. I am going to shield you from now on. No one will ever harm you again.”He muttered to himself as if I had simply fallen into a deep sleep.BANG.The church doors were violently forced open.Matt rushed in at the very front of the crowd, clutching a silver dagger laced with wolfsbane, while a dozen fully armed bounty hunters flanked him.Securely shielded behind a perimeter of mercenaries stood Martha, Ronald, and Natalie, who leaned heavily on a crutch.Matt glared at Kaelen’s silhouette, his eyes flashing with lethal intent.“An Alpha who goes entirely mad over the loss of a mere mate has absolutely no right to lead

I heard she was throwing quite a fierce tantrum. It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have been feeling unwell at a time like this. Please don’t be too angry with her, either. After all, she only did it to get your attention…”Kaelen didn’t argue with her as he usually did. He simply stared at the gentle face before him, his tone flat and calm.“Who was it that bribed the healer to alter Iris’s due date?“Who was it that called Matt, ordering him to force labor-suppressing medication down Iris’s throat?“Who was it that called Martha, forcing them to make Iris hold her delivery back until I returned?”Natalie’s body froze instantly.“Kaelen, what are you talking about? I don’t understand…”“You don’t understand?”Kaelen supp

Kaelen drove like a madman, practically crashing his way through the gates of the estate. The moment he crossed the threshold, he found Martha collapsed on the floor, her hands covered in blood, while Ronald trembled nearby.Scarlett stood before the bedroom door, her eyes burning red.Kaelen rushed over to her, his voice shaking.“Where is Iris? Where is she? Is she just hiding because she’s angry with me?”Scarlett violently swung her hand, striking his face with a savage slap.“Why aren’t you over at the hospital keeping your precious Natalie company? What are you doing here? Did you come to make absolutely sure they were dead, just so you could clear the Luna’s position for that malicious bitch?”“I didn’t... I only told them to make her wait until I came back to take her to the hospital. I had no idea things would…” Kaelen stammered, completely deflated by her fury.“Wait until you came back?” Scarlett let out a bitter, mocking laugh, hooking her fingers into his collar, w

I believed that everything had finally come to an end.Yet, when I opened my eyes once more, my soul was somehow floating directly alongside Kaelen.Natalie lay weakly in a hospital bed, her face pale.Kaelen was gently blowing on a bowl of nourishing tonic soup, tenderly feeding it to her one spoonful at a time. The adoring affection in his eyes was almost overflowing.I watched the scene unfold in complete silence, my heart entirely numb.I wondered how he would react if he discovered that I was already dead.“Kaelen,” Natalie whispered, her voice frail as she gazed up at him with tear-filled eyes.“Thank you. If you hadn’t rushed me here in time, I really don’t know what I would have done. I might have…”Kaelen looked down at her.“Don’t speak such nonsense. The healer said it was merely a mild case of Braxton Hicks contractions. The pup is completely fine.”Natalie tentatively squeezed his hand, her tears splashing onto the back of his knuckles.Pressing her lips togethe

Kaelen’s older sister, Scarlett, stood at the door, her voice ringing out with harsh authority. The air inside the room turned to ice instantly. The servants scrambled to loosen their grip on me, bowing their heads in unison.Martha stood frozen to the spot, her face completely pale as she smeared the blood from her hands all over the hem of her clothes.Kaelen and his sister had lost their parents at a young age, relying solely on each other to survive.Everyone in the pack knew exactly how much he revered his older sister.Within the Eclipse Pack, her word carried even greater weight than Kaelen’s.Scarlett’s gaze swept across the purple bruises marking my abdomen, the blood-soaked bed, and the unfinished stitches dangling from my lower body.Through the pooling blood, the fine hair of the crowning pup was faintly visible. They bound my feet and hoisted me upside down from the metal suspension rack.A deafening roar erupted in my head as the pup thrashed violently within my womb, and dark spots danced across my vision. Tears ran down my forehead, lost in the damp, sweat-matted strands of my hair.“Kaelen, please come back and look at me. Can you truly be this heartless?“Kaelen, I really can’t hold on anymore. The pup is going to…”As my consciousness began to fracture, a hallucination of Kaelen appeared before my eyes. He smiled as he walked toward me, gently kissing my brow just as he used to, his voice a soothing whisper.“I will protect you and our pup from now on. Don’t cry.“I would cast everything aside for you—even my own life.”I reached out with a trembling hand, but my fingers grasped nothing but empty air as the darkness threatened to swallow me whole.Suddenly, a searing bolt of agony from the rope digging into my lower abdomen forcefully yanked my mind back to reality.A moment lat
