Tonight, the underground world buzzed with power and hidden motives.

In a luxurious crowded banquet, chandeliers glittered, and the air was filled with murmurs of wealth and power.

A low elegant music rang in the background.

A tall, slender masked man walked in, clad in a black suit, and was followed by a few men dressed in black.

His every movement was a mystery. He radiated an aura of invisibility with precise and deadly control.

The room quieted with his entrance.

Some approached him.

"Little Swan." A scar-faced brunette called. "You're finally here." He said roughly.

Little Swan nodded slightly without saying a word. He walked over to a corner and sat elegantly.

He ignored the gazes around him.

After mingling in the circle for so many years, Little Swan was used to the attention he got from his every arrival, and it no longer affected him.

His men flanked him as he rested his chin on his palm and closed his eyes.

The main activity for tonight was yet to begin, and nothing else mattered.

Seeing Little Swan's action, the crowds also turned to leave.

They knew better than to annoy him.

In Little Swan's safe corner, his mind wandered as he pondered his business tonight.

"Is everything prepared?" His low voice rang.

The moment he spoke, the man behind him stilled—like the sound itself was dangerous.

Strangely, Little Swan's voice was neither rough nor deep..

Instead, it was a voice that gave someone a sense of peace and comfort.

His voice was melodious and inherently beautiful, but no one had ever tried to notice this.

Or maybe they valued their lives too much to dare appreciate the wonderful voice.

"It is." The man replied.

He stood closer to Little Swan, indicating their closeness.

"We will act before the end of the banquet. I heard the Northerns are vying for it, too." The man explained.

Little Swan's eyes opened as his brows furrowed slightly. "Why would the Northern district need this?" He asked with a hint of surprise in his voice.

"Isn't it known that the Northern district doesn't keep omegas? Everyone knows about these rules..." He trailed off as he rubbed his temple.

"Do they know about us?"

"No." The man replied.

Little Swan's brows settled. He was silent for a moment as his eyes searched through the room.

The calmness in his eyes was unwavering, but his mind was anything but settled.

The newly developed chemical couldn't be acquired by anyone else.

Little Swan knew how long he'd been waiting for this chemical. The only chemical in the world that could permanently hide his floral scent and stop unwanted heat.

The only chemical that would finally give him the control and power he needed.

No one else in the world would ever find out about his real secondary gender.

He, Little Swan, was a beta, and this fact would be the only truth in the future.

"Make preparations. If we don't get it legally, we get it by force." He mumbled as he closed his eyes again.

The man nodded. His fingers pressed something in his ear as he whispered some words.

The low murmuring of the banquet returned.

Little Swan's presence no longer affected them much, and his silence was like an approval for them to continue their fun.

The chandeliers flickered, and two figures walked up the stage.

A middle-aged man and a woman.

The two held hands and had kind smiles on their faces as they glanced at the crowds.

They nodded their heads toward Little Swan's corner.

"Hello, everyone."

The atmosphere quietened. Little Swan's eyes opened.

"I expect we are all here for the h962. The only chemical in the world that could protect our omegas from the clutch of rogue alphas out there."

"This chemical has the capability of preventing heat and covering their scents..."

Little Swan calmly played with his fingers. He didn't seem to be listening much.

Most of the things said on the stage were what he already knew, and he also knew that wasn't the true effect of h962.

A chemical produced for a duration of 5000 years... Even the earlier recipe had been lost over time.

This was a chemical that might never be produced again in this world and a powerful one that could throw the underworld into chaos.

He was determined to get it at all costs.

"We only produced one, and honestly, we still don't know when the next could be produced..."

"I will offer a casino in the south." A deep and magnetic voice rang, disrupting the air and the speaker.

All eyes fell on the figure standing at the entrance.

It was a tall and slender young man with a strikingly handsome face.

A tiny scar ran from his left brow to the corner of his left eye, giving him a demonic air and domineering presence.

Clad in a black shirt with a few buttons open, he walked in with a few men walking behind him.

A playful smile lingered on his face as his black eyes settled on Little Swan, who was sitting in a corner.

"I can take that, right?" He asked provocatively. "It's not like you have enough to pay for it." He mocked.

Little Swan's eyes, which were always calm, shone with coldness the moment he saw the man.

He frowned deeply, and the air swiftly tensed.

"Cassian." He called through gritted teeth.

Cassian, Little Swan's only archenemy... or so the world thought.

Cassian's smile turned into a smirk as he approached Little Swan and sat a few seats away from him.

"What? Did that annoy you?" Cassian beckoned to the men behind him. "I could gift you a beauty as compensation or what do you think?"

A beauty walked over and sat on Cassian's lap.

The beauty's arms wrapped around Cassian's neck as Cassian's lips curled, showing a contemptuous smile.

"But then again, you are too old-fashioned and stiff. No beauty would want to keep your company." He said helplessly as his hands explored the beauty's waist publicly.

The beauty whined as shyness crept onto his face.

The banquet became Cassian's show ground.

From the moment he stepped into the room, the guests had all pulled aside, and even the hosts were quiet.

Everyone knew about the hatred between Little Swan, the quiet devil, and Cassian, the brutal devil. No one wanted to be caught in the fire.

The air around Little Swan turned increasingly colder.

His hands clenched into a fist as he looked at the hand on the beauty's waist, and his blood boiled.

He should look away. He didn't.

Little Swan's heart ached. Looking at the beauty's body, which relied heavily on Cassian's, he found his hands slipping out of his control.

'Kill.' This was the only word that kept ringing in his brain.

Little Swan lost it.

He drew his gun, and it fired.

Gasps filled the air.

Everyone was stunned.

Cassian's face darkened.

"Little Duck!" He shouted as he stood up and brought out his gun. "Was that shot meant for me?!" He asked angrily.

Little Swan's men retaliated.

Cassian's men did the same.

The two groups faced each other, but Little Swan made no further movement.

He stared at the gun in his hand and at the dead beauty on the ground. His head was a total mess.

Shots resounded in the room.

But Little Swan wasn't making a move.

The closest man to Little Swan grabbed his hand and tried to pull him behind, but it was too late.

Cassian's bullet pierced Little Swan's heart.

Little Swan's eyes widened.

He dazedly raised his head, and his eyes fell on that familiar demonic face.

He shook his head. His lips parted... like he wanted to say something.

Nothing came out..

Little Swan's eyes slowly closed.

"Boss!" His men screamed.

Cassian couldn't believe his eyes, but instead of doubting his vision, he rushed deeper into the fire and approached the figure. "Nico?" He called. The figure raised their head. Their face was black, but their clear eyes weren't tainted in the least. A groan escaped his lips again as if he were replying to Cassian. Cassian quickly bent forward, lifted the man in his arms, and rushed out of the fire. Even his pants were starting to burn off at this point. Only after Cassian fully escaped the fire did he stop. He gently placed Nico on the ground and checked his body. Nico groaned again. He squinted his eyes as if trying to identify Cassian, and when he finally did, his lips parted, and a shallow smile appeared on his thin lips. "It's my alpha." He murmured and fainted. Cassian was surprised. He frowned briefly but he couldn't think too much about the word of a delirious person. He quickly reached out and grabbed Nico's waist, pulling him back to his embrace and supporting him

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 39: FIRE

Cassian and the rest of his men had returned to the car, and everyone was prepared to leave. Cassian stood beside the car, his fingers playing with the half-smoked tobacco in his hand as he stared at his feet. Ryan walked over. "Why isn't he coming over yet? Was he caught?" Cassian raised his eyes lazily. "He's probably trying to leave without getting the people suspicious." He released a puff of smoke from his mouth. He trusted Nico. Not only because the man had worked for the President Association but also because of what he felt from the man. Nico's abilities were on par with his, and he seemed to be extremely sensitive to danger. If someone like that could be caught by a factory like this... Cassian felt like something must have really gone wrong then. It was impossible. He brought out his phone and dialed Nico's line again. But surprisingly, it was switched off. Cassian finally frowned. He tapped on the pod on his ear, trying to connect, but it seemed he had been totall

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 38: CRAZY

Little Swan came out of the bathroom and returned to the experimental room. He saw Janice injecting an omega who kept whimpering in pain. She raised her head when she heard the door opening. "You're back." Little Swan nodded, forcing himself to look away from the scene. Janice dropped the syringe and approached Little Swan. "What's your decision, Doctor Frank? Or would you like to see other rooms?" Little Swan looked toward the withering omegas again. "Are there better omegas around here at all? Ones that hadn't been experimented on." Janice thought for a while before she shook her head. "No. But if Doctor Frank needs one, we can exchange for one from the President's Association. It's no big deal." Little Swan's stomach lurched at that. He nodded. "There's no need to see other rooms then. Take me to the higher-ups. I don't have much time to spend here." Janice showed a surprised and excited expression as she nodded enthusiastically. "I know. I know. Doctor Frank has a lot of e

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 37: DECISION

Little Swan listened to the lady, and his mood became even more frosty. His eyes behind the glasses darkened. 'It seems I'll have to tell Cassian to kill that doctor later.' The doctor couldn't be released. He was a scum of society, and allowing him to return to Italy would be a calamity for many omegas. Even if Cassian later decided to spare his life, Little Swan had made up his mind to kill him, and there was no way for him to escape. He sighed, suppressing the immense anger in his heart as he returned his attention to the omegas on the ground. Each of them seemed to have been injected with some drugs. Their skin was cracking, and their eyes were red. Little Swan had a lot of questions to ask, but being someone with no medical knowledge, he was scared of exposing himself. "The omegas are all weak." His tone was a little irritated. Janice nodded. "They are all at least three hundred years-old omegas. They've birthed all their children, and they've become weak and use

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 36: THE OPERATION

Cassian was disappointed when he saw the beta slowly turn his head to look away again without giving him a response. Knowing he had said a lot during the ride, Cassian decided to be tactful and stopped talking. He failed to realize how much he had changed just by having the beta beside him... Ryan glanced at the boss and the beta sitting behind him, and he wondered why the boss was acting the same way he acted whenever he was with Little Swan. Well, Ryan wasn't the only one who realized this. Little Swan, with his ever-working mind, had already noticed that Cassian was strange ever since they first met. Cassian seemed to be interested in him. Perhaps because he was cold and indifferent to whatever he did?Whatever. He really didn't care. The main reason he decided to be a bodyguard was to keep an eye on Cassian and make sure no one snatched the alpha away. That was enough. With time, he would drag the alpha back to his territory. After hours of driving, they finally got to th

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 35: CAR RIDE

Little Swan didn't dawdle either. Following after Cassian and Ryan, they left the company with some other men. Ryan took over the driving while Little Swan was the protector, sitting right beside Cassian in the car. His expression was cool, and his eyes held indifference. In reality, his mind was filled with the words of the earlier burly man. The man had wanted him to gain Cassian's favor, become Cassian's lover like the last protector, and when that happened, he would be able to speak up for the burly man and gain him a promotion. Little Swan looked toward the tall buildings in the city. He really didn't blame the guy. This was the world of the fittest. Everyone would go to great lengths to gain what they wanted. What was with chastity? Anything that couldn't be eaten was an option, not a priority. An alpha (the past protector) had even submitted, willing to be dominated by Cassian to gain a fleeting favor, so what was stopping a beta (Nico) from doing the same to gain a sta

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 15: WEAK...

"His body was too weak for the activities, Mr Cassian." "He's feverish." Voices entered Little Swan's ears as he tried to open his eyes. He suddenly felt the urge to laugh. Was his body too weak? Who was the quack doctor Cassian called?B

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 14: TATTOO

The peace and warmth that came with getting intimate with his alpha for the first time washed off immediately. Little Swan sat up, his beautiful face scrunched up as he stared at the closed bathroom door. Different thoughts flashed through his head in succession. He thought about locking the alp

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 25: INHIBITOR?

Little Swan frowned slightly. He glanced at Cassian's smiling face and a bad premonition welled up in his heart. He was finding it hard to control the heat in his body, but due to his extremely good self-control, he knew his pheromones had yet to leak. So, why was Cassian asking him to visit the

  • Little Swan   CHAPTER 16: PAIN

Little Swan happily walked around the room, and the smile remained on his face even after thirty minutes of hearing about the shopping news. He had found a way to send a message to Niam, telling the young man to wait for him as he had no idea where the shopping would take place. However, moving wa
