MasukLANA
What? Did he just call me by my name? By my real name? Did he just call me Lana? How did he know?
"Are you alright, Sapphire?" Ashton asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.
He called me sapphire... not Lana. I must have misheard.
"Y—yes. I'm fine," I answered, playing a small smile on my lips.
“Luna Sapphire.”
Hearing the Lycan King call me that sent a chill down my spine.
It was strange. Strange and thrilling in a way I did not want to admit. The name did not belong to me, not truly, yet the way it sounded on his tongue made it feel real… dangerous, even. Like I had stepped into someone else’s destiny and the world had already accepted the lie.
But then his next words echoed in my mind again. "Allow your secrets."
My heart skipped once, only once. I refused to allow it do a second stumble.
I cleared my throat softly and lowered my gaze, folding my hands together the way I remembered Sapphire used to do.
"I have no secrets, my king,” I said, keeping my voice gentle. “I am only trying to learn how to be worthy of you. It is natural for me to be careful. I must become a proper Luna.”
It sounded reasonable, innocent and safe.
Inside, I watched him carefully.
He didn’t answer immediately. He only smiled.
The expression wasn't warm but it wasn’t not cold either. It was the kind of smile a hunter wore when he spotted movement in the grass but chose not to strike yet. It made my skin prickle.
Did he believe me? I couldn’t tell.
That unsettled me more than if he had accused me outright.
I lowered my eyes again, reminding myself to breathe slowly. I had to be careful now.
Lana was a bold and she had spoken her thoughts freely, trusted easily, loved foolishly. Sapphire, however, was nothing like that. The Sapphire I knew had always been quiet, timid, almost invisible beside her radiant sister, Amethyst.
If I suddenly acted strong, sharp, or fearless like I did earlier before Ashton walked in, people would notice... if they hadn't already.
So I needed to do was act shy, soft even. For now.
The scrape of a chair pulled me from my thoughts.
I looked up in time to see Ashton rise from his chair and the entire hall fell silent immediately.
It was not forced silence. It was not even ordered. It simply happened. His presence alone demanded it. Nobles straightened. Guards stiffened and everyone paused to listen.
I watched him from beneath my lashes, wondering again what kind of game the Moon Goddess was playing to bind me to a man like this. He was not merely powerful. He was authority itself, carved into flesh and bone.
He picked up a glass of champagne from a passing servant and turned toward the crowd.
“My people,” he began.
His voice wasn't loud, yet it carried to every corner of the hall.
He spoke of unity and strength. He then started talking about loyalty among packs. He spoke like a ruler who had seen wars and buried enemies. Each word was steady amd filled with certainty. No one dared interrupt.
Then his gaze shifted and landed to me.
“And tonight,” he continued, “we welcome our Luna. The one the moon goddess herself blessed me with on this fateful day. Luna Sapphire.”
Dozens of eyes snapped toward me at once.
I lowered my head quickly, letting my lashes hide my expression. I clasped my hands tighter and forced a small, nervous smile, playing the role of Sapphire. A few nobles nodded approvingly, clearly pleased that their new queen looked harmless.
They were fools if they believed that.
A prickle crawled along my skin and I glanced up slightly.
Across the hall, Diego stared at me.
His jaw was tight. His eyes were burning with ealousy, rage, and something wounded twisted across his face. Beside him, Amethyst’s fingers clutched his arm so hard her knuckles had turned white.
Good. Very good.
I dropped my gaze again before anyone noticed and let my lips curve faintly.
"Feel it," I told him silently. "Feel even a fraction of what you made me feel."
The ceremony continued, and before long I found myself surrounded.
Noblewomen gathered around me in a soft circle, their jeweled dresses were brushing against mine, their perfumes mixed in the air. They smiled too brightly, bowed too often and spoke too sweetly.
“A blessing from the Moon Goddess,” one of them said, clasping her hands.
“A miracle,” another agreed. “His Majesty has never taken a mate. Never! And yet he chose you.”
If only they knew how many miracles had truly happened today.
I nodded shyly, lowering my gaze as Sapphire would have done.
“You flatter me,” I murmured.
Behind them, I heard hushed whispers.
“Did you see Alpha Diego’s face?”
“I know right? This ceremony was supposed to be his tonight too.”
“Imagine being overshadowed by the King himself.”
Soft giggles followed.
“And that girl… wasn’t she invisible before? Quiet little Sapphire?”
“Yes! And now she’s the King’s mate. How strange.”
I kept my expression gentle, though inside I was listening to every word. Good. Let them talk. Rumors were useful things. They spread faster than truth and lasted longer.
Two royal guards approached and bowed.
“Your Majesty,” one said respectfully. “The car is ready. We have been ordered to escort you.”
I inclined my head. “Thank you.”
So it was time. I followed them out, feeling dozens of eyes trail after me. Outside, a sleek black car waited beneath the lantern lights.
Ashton stood tall and majestically beside the car and then, he open the door when I approached.
The gesture was simple yet it caught me off guard..
The Lycan King himself opened a door for me.
“Thank you,” I said softly, stepping inside. The seat was smooth and soft beneath me
He entered after me and shut the door.
Silence settled for a moment as the car began to move. Then he spoke.
“You’re quite interesting.” he said with a straight face.
I turned slightly. “Interesting how?”
“I was told you were quiet and reserved. Nearly invisible.” His eyes rested on me, calm and sharp at once. “Tell me, little wolf… why would the Moon Goddess choose someone unremarkable as my mate, if she were not interesting?”
I did not know how to answer that so I stayed silent.
After a moment, I asked softly, “Where are we going?”
“The King’s Estate.”
DiegoDianne had completely lost her mind. She was totally and utterly insane to think she had the ability to blackmail me with demands of five million.“I never knew you to be a fool, Dianne,” I mocked harshly. “You've just proven to be the biggest fool I've ever come across in my entire existence to think I have five million to give to you.”My response took her by surprise, but she doubled down, thinking she had a hold on me. “I know you have the money, Diego. You have something I need, and I have something you need. If I don't walk out of here with five million, the entire kingdom will have all the evidence that will ensure your downfall.”A sound left me. At first, it came out as a chuckle, but then it grew into something hysterical. Unhinged. “I don't have any money!” I barked.“What?” She looked stunned. She should.“Yes. You heard me right,” I said with venomous mockery. “That whore—Sapphire—somehow managed to convince Ashton to freeze all of Lana's assets.”Dianne's face was
Chapter 96DiegoThe letter I received from one of my betas was from the Werewolf Council. I grabbed the piece of paper from within his grasp and read its contents before the Silvercrest council.“Another bloody meeting,” I murmured. This could only mean one thing. The investigation currently happening in Silvercrest had already circulated around the kingdom. That was the only explanation I had right now. That had to be the only reason why the Werewolf Council would call another meeting. My fingers curled as I clenched my fist, the paper shrinking beneath them.It looked like I was in for another round of scrutiny from the entire kingdom all over again.I lifted my eyes up to the long council table. The council members were all staring at me, their eyes filled with questions.“This meeting is over,” I announced, standing up immediately. The longer I entertained the elders, the closer I was to completely losing my mind.I walked out of the room. My steps echoed through the hallways, lo
DiegoTime and time again, Ashton Blackthorne and his mate, Sapphire, keep finding ways to screw with me. They just find creative ways to disrupt my life. My pack. The second the authorities told me their purpose for coming to Silvercrest—to investigate the circumstances of Lana's death—I knew instantly Ashton had something to do with it.But… how? How did Ashton manage to figure out that Lana's death wasn't natural? Did that bitch Sapphire say something? She must have managed to plant the idea to investigate Lana's death in his head.I remembered vividly when she had come rushing down the stairs when Amethyst and I were about to seal the deal in our marriage, blatantly accusing both of us of poisoning Lana. However she found that out still remained a mystery to me. Back then, I couldn't properly figure out if she was just throwing baseless accusations or if she truly knew something about Lana's death.Unfortunately, my inability to get to the bottom of it grew because the Moon Goddes
LanaAshton and I were curled under the sheets of the bed, our legs touching each other, our eyes locked in. I was completely lost in the gaze of his cold blue eyes. The old me would have been petrified at the thought of staring into his eyes just after we made love. The sex—it was amazing. My mind replayed every second of it. Every thrust. Every time he groaned my name and I moaned out his name in response.“What are you thinking about?” He asked in a soft whisper. His finger brushed a loose strand of my hair away from my face.“Hm nothing,” I lied.He let out a soft chuckle, then asked, “Are you sure? Something tells me you were thinking about sex.”My face instantly turned red. I rolled over the sheets and turned my back against him, hiding how red I had become. How does he do that?“I knew you were thinking about that,” he laughed.“Shut up!”All my worries about Diego and Amethyst and getting justice for myself had completely vanished for a moment. All I could think about was sta
LanaFreezing my assets, away from Diego's claws felt like victory. I remember standing there when Ashton gave the order using his series of network to freeze everything I once had.Somewhere far away, I knew Diego’s safety net had just been ripped out from under him, and the thought of that satisfied me more than it did.Ashton even went a step further today when he dropped an anonymous tip to the authorities about my death being a possible murder.I remember turning to him so fast, panicking slightly. “You did what?”And he just shrugged casually and dry like it was nothing. “I don’t like loose ends.”Ashton assured me that with everyone breathing down Diego's neck, he was doomed. He was right. Diego was cornered, his money—well, my money—was gone, and now the law was sniffing around his neck. But why did I still feel like something still wasn’t finished?Even now, sitting across from Ashton hours later, I couldn’t shake it necause I knew Diego. He will refuse fall down helplessly.
Chapter 92DiegoKilling Ashton Blackthorne had to be the most enjoyable thing any werewolf, whether beta or omega, could ever do in their whole life.He wasn't invincible, I was pretty sure about that. He definitely had some kind of weakness and if I could find it, I would use it to finally take him down once and for all.But first, I needed to make a new alliance. Something strong enough that would help me bring about the complete downfall of Ashton Blackthorne. There was no way I was going to carry out an open attack on him by myself. That would just be pure suicide and I knew it. My wolf wasn't nearly strong enough to go up against his and win. Then slowly, an idea started forming inside my head. I could use a group of expendable werewolves to do all the dirty work for me.Rogue werewolves.Rogues are such pathetic creatures, honestly. That's what everybody always liked to call them. Savages, outcasts, total failures. Wolves that just couldn't fit into any proper pack. The kind th

LanaI strolled back inside and fell on the bed thinking about Ashton's words."You must be ruthless."At first, I told myself he was wrong. Ruthless was never who I was. I had always been gentle, patient and peaceful. I grew up in a pack where disputes were solved with discussion, not claws. My fa
