Judy rushed downstairs the moment Ryker started crying. That was my opening.

The medicine cup sat in my hand, warm against my palm. I stared at it, my stomach tightening. The liquid inside looked the same as always, cloudy and faintly yellow, with a smell that made my throat itch.
