LOGINLiora - POV
"I have to confess," I could barely manage to whisper.
Selene leaned in, curiosity written all over face. "What is it?"
As my chest tightened, I inhaled deeply. "You know I am a stripper."
Her face remained the same, so I continued. "Last night , I was going to do a private show. Oh boy, I was excited-had some bills due this week-and then my boss called. She apparently found another deal, and actually, a bigger one. One where some guy wants to send off a grand part of his life before he gets hitched." Dry throat, but I continued: "I went. I danced. He gave me a lot more than I've ever seen. And I.... I spend the night with him."
Selene's eyes widened, then cued her shock to turn into fear. "Liora, what do you mean?"
My stomach was burning and so I spat the truth: "The man....was Darius."
A thick blanket of silence fell over the room. Then Selene's chair screeched back as she giggled. "Oh,common stop joking.”
"I wish I was," I said softly.
She slammed her fist on the table. "No. No! You couldn't be that sick. My sister-my own blood-sleeping with the man I'm going to marry?!"
"Selene--"
"Shut up!" she screamed. Her voice cracked with raw fury: "You have ruined everything! You think I wanted to track you down? You think I wanted to bring you back just for you to stab me in the back?"
I stood up, my legs shaking. "That was not planned. I did not know—"
And then she charged at me, fists hammering my shoulders. “This is why mother told me to avoid you! She was right! All you do is ruin happy lives!”
Her words cut deeper than her fists. I could feel the tears stinging in my eyes, but instead I held her wrists to try and stop her. "Selene I beg of you—"
She broke free, taking deep breaths. "I wish I'd never found you. I wish you still were gone. I wish I listened to mother.”
Then she diverted her gaze onto the stool beside us. Seized it and raised it high over her head, aiming to connect it with my skull.
"Selene, don't!" I screamed.
The scream tore itself from my lungs.
I shot up in bed,my heart racing like a wild animal. I looked quickly around the room from corner to corner. White curtains. A polished mahogany dresser. A cute little vase holding some fresh flowers.
Not the dining room. No Selene or stool in sight.
This was the room that Selene had set aside for me.
I exhaled shakily and put my hand across my chest. "Moon goddess... it was just a dream."
Part relief, part dread. Dream or not, I knew what it meant. My guilt against killing me—worsened by the forbidden mate bond twisting inside my omega heart.
I recalled that I had chickened out last night. I told Selene that I was just worried that my history of stripping might tarnish her reputation and the family’s reputation if I ever become associated with them. She laughed lightly and said to forget about it. Said she has enough money to buy me all the respect in the world.
Now here I am, lying flat on my back on the bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering how long I can keep this secret bottled up in me.
Less than a second later, my alarm went off. I groaned and shut it off. Selene had insisted on an early wedding, one that began with the sunrise. At first, I had doubted her, but surprisingly she wasn't joking.
I dragged myself out of bed, took my bath and wore the dress Selene had given to me last night and quickly brushed my hair, adjusting the straps when there was a loud knock at the door that startled me.
I opened the door.
There stood Selene, pretty in her gown. Her hair was perfectly swept up in an elegant bun, veil cascading past her shoulders. She looked every inch like a princess stepping from a fairytale movie.
"Wow," I breathed. "You look... amazing."
Selene smiled, and her eyes sparkled. "Thank you, and you look beautiful too."
I managed a smile. "Not half as beautiful as you."
She laughed softly and waved her hand. "Come on. Time to go."
The two of us walked out together, but when we reached the altar, Selene made it clear she wished to walk down to the altar alone. I respected that.
I sit in front, heavy-hearted, hands clasped, fidgeting in my lap.
The ceremony began and the priest's voice laced itself along the rising music by the Choir . All eyes turned towards Selene, who walked down the aisle.
At that moment, Darius stood straight and stoic, like a statue on the altar, immaculate in that black suit, his eyes on her as a wide smile spread across his lips.
I could have sworn I saw tears in his eyes. “Crying for a lady you cheated on! Tsk, males.”
Then the vows were exchanged too as they slipped rings onto each other’s fingers. Selene swore to stand beside him all her life, and Darius promised to always be her rock, and never give her a reason to cry.
When they were pronounced mates , applause filled the room. Selene and Darius kissed, and I made myself clap, forced a wide smile.
But my heart broke within.
Then it was off to the reception in the palace. Just as Selene had said, it was much smaller than I had anticipated: a few relatives, a couple of friends, and some business associates. All were very polite and cheerful regarding their welcome—Blackwood pack allies mingling seamlessly in this modern celebration.
"Meet my sister, Liora!" Selene introduced me to almost everyone. She would say that with so much pride. And each time, I would nod and shake hands, trying not to crumble under the weight of my secret.
Eventually, I slipped away. My nerves were fraying. I moved into a quiet hallway, the music and chatter disappearing behind.
Leaning against the wall, I whispered to myself: "Okay, Liora. Say it. Just tell her. 'Selene, I messed up. Selene, I—'. "
A voice from behind me interrupted my rehearsal.
“Tell Selene what?”
Liora POVThe photograph stays on my screen. My mother.Alive.Tied to a chair.Waiting for me.My first instinct is to move.To run.To find her.Because for years I imagined this moment.Meeting the woman who gave me life.Hearing her explanation.Asking why she left. But not like this. Not with a threat. Not with someone using her as a weapon against me.Darius immediately notices my reaction.“Liora.”I look at him.“She’s my mother.”My voice breaks.“I finally found her.”I pause.“And now someone is taking her away from me again.”I grab my jacket.“I’m going.”Darius immediately says:“No.”The word makes me freeze.Because the old anger rises. The feeling of someone deciding for me.But before I can react, he continues.“Not because I want to control you.”He pause.“Because whoever did this wants exactly that.”He points at the message.“They want you emotional. They want you alone.”I know he is right. And that scares me.Because even after everything…He understands me.Fo
Liora POVThe photograph is still in my hand.A woman holding me as a baby.A woman whose face I have never seen.A woman whose name I have never spoken.Elara Voss.My mother. The word feels strange.Almost unreal.Because for years, I lived with one painful belief. That nobody wanted me.Not my father. Not my family. Not the woman who gave birth to me.But now I am being told something impossible. She was alive. She knew about me.And somehow…She stayed away.My chest feels heavy.Because I do not know what hurts more.Finding out she abandoned me…Or finding out she might have had a reason.Darius notices the change in me immediately. The bond reacts before I even speak. He says my name softly.“Liora.”I look at him.“What if she left because she didn’t want me?”The question breaks something in him.I could see his expression.Because he knows what it feels like to carry the belief that you are unworthy of love.He says:“Don’t decide her reason before hearing the truth.”He pau
Liora POVThe room is silent.Too silent.Everyone is staring at the screen. The recording has ended, but the words remain.“Dr. Lucien.”The name feels impossible.Because Dr. Lucien was the person Darius trusted when nobody else could reach him.The person who helped him face his guilt. The person who taught him how to stop controlling everything. The person who encouraged him to become better. And now…He might be the person who has been destroying my life.I look at Darius. His expression is unreadable. But I know him.I know the difference between anger and pain. This is pain.Because this is not only a betrayal against me.It is a betrayal against him.Darius takes his phone. He watches the recording again.Once.Twice.Three times.Looking for something.Maybe a mistake.A manipulation.Anything.Finally, he lowers the phone.“No.”The word comes quietly. Not denial.Pain.“I know his voice.”He pause.“But I also know him.”I look at him.“Do you?”The question comes out hars
Liora POVThe name on the back of the photograph refuses to disappear.“Selene Blackwood.”.My sister. The person who found me.The person who gave me a home. The person who told me I was never a mistake.I keep staring at the handwriting.Waiting for something inside me to reject it.To tell me it is fake.A lie.Another manipulation. But my instincts tell me something else.Something hurts.Because if Selene knew…If she knew the truth about me from the beginning…Then every moment we shared suddenly feels different. The first hug.The first time she called me her sister. The way she looked at me like she had been waiting her entire life to meet me.Was it real?Or was it another secret I was never allowed to understand?I look at Adrian. My voice shakes.“Explain.”He does not immediately answer. And that makes me angry.“Explain why my sister’s name is on this.”Adrian takes a deep breath.“Because Selene was involved.”My heart drops.“Involved how?”He looks at the photograph.“
Liora POVThe document is still in my hands.I keep staring at the name. The name that is supposed to explain everything. The name that is supposed to answer why my entire life was built on secrets.“My half-brother.” I whispered to myself. The son who inherited everything. The son who had the family name, the wealth, the protection. The son who got the life I was never allowed to have.I look at Darius.“Are you sure?”My voice is barely above a whisper.Because accepting this means accepting something painful.Someone from my own blood wanted me gone.Darius does not rush to answer. He knows me well enough now to understand that I am not asking because I doubt him.I am asking because I am trying to survive the truth.“We’re still investigating.”He pause.“But everything points to him.”I lower the document. My entire life, I thought I was forgotten.I thought I was abandoned because I was a mistake. But now I am discovering something worse.I was remembered.I was watched. And som
Liora POV“Ravenna was the reason you survived.”The words keep replaying in my mind.I sat there frozen.Because everything I believed about Ravenna is suddenly uncertain. For years, I thought she hated me because I was proof of my father’s betrayal.I thought every cruel word.Every cold look.Every moment she made me feel like I didn’t belong…Was because she blamed me.But now Adrian is telling me something different.Something impossible. That Ravenna protected me.That she knew the truth. And that she kept a secret that shaped my entire life.I look at Darius. He is watching me carefully. Not demanding answers.Just waiting. The way I asked him to.And somehow, that makes the confusion even heavier.Because the people I trusted hurt me.And the person I hated might have saved me.I call Adrian back. This time, Darius stays beside me.Not taking over.Just present.I ask the question that has haunted me my entire life.“Why did my father hide me?”The silence on the other end las
Liora’s povI’ve been longing for sweet things these days. When I’m at work I try as much as I can to get my hands on candy before I start working and now that I’m at home, I’ve filled my fridge with different varieties of cakes and chocolate.I’m eating one right now and I can’t help but think tha
Selene’s pov“What? Arrested?!” I jolted from my seat upon hearing this diabolical statement. “For speeding?”“It turns out we were being followed. I was able to spot the stalker from my window at the hotel today so I chased after him. I was able to break his camera so I guess no headlines of us to
Liora’s pov“I’m so grateful for the fact that you’re about to overlook what I’ve done to you in the past, Madam Liora. I’m really sorry for my attitude and the way I’ve treated you. Please try to find it in your heart to forgive me,” Sarah pleaded with joint hands.“Enough enough, I’ve heard you.
Liora’s pov“It’s the same with her everyday. It’s to be expected that I can’t even act surprised or angry anymore,” Selene said as she served herself some of the salad.Ravenna was fuming terribly this morning. I reached out for the paper and she immediately withdrew her hand like I was some paras
