LOGINFinn’s Pov
There is something no one ever wants to see. No one wants to know what it feels like to be in front of the police station, eyes bloodshot red from tears as you beg for your mother to be freed.
And there is something that shouldn’t be seen. A picture of my lowest, the mugshot of my most embarrassing moment plastered on the walls as people laughed as they stared.
My body trembled, it felt like I couldn’t breathe as I stared at the pictures that decorated the walls.
“trailer boy! Do you think your mother would take a dollar to blow me off?”
“You'd better hope those lips don’t give you herpes!”
They jeered. Laughed as they said more than enough to force me blind with rage.
“Walk away,” Zale whispered behind my back.
I didn’t listen, I shoved through the crowd, my elbow hitting anything that stood by the side as I tore down the pictures. They could taunt me all they wanted, but my mother? That was the one thing that I didn’t want to listen to.
“Look at that, such a cunt,” a voice sneered.
I turned. Anger vibrated through my veins, as I grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer to my body, “What did you just say?” I growled.
He smirked, his eyes, flickering behind me, “How does it feel to know your mother does nothing but suck….”
He didn’t complete the words, didn’t get to say it to the end, my fist slammed hard against his jaw, knocking him down.
The crowd oohed, enjoying the drama that was about to unfold.
“Fight!” they chanted.
Zale rushed through, his hand grabbing me, “Don’t do this, don’t play into…”
I was too far gone in my rage to stop, this was far beyond logic, this was plain out anger. I huffed, ready to strike again, but the silence in the hallway made me freeze.
“Mr William!” a loud bark echoed through the walls.
The boy, the one I had punched, was screaming, his hand holding his nose as he tried to stop the blood from overflowing on his face. I blinked back the shock that I was feeling.
“My office now!” the dean snapped. His eyes turned to Zale, “Mr Brook, can you take him to the clinic,” he said.
Zale gave me a soft look, as he helped the boy to his feet. It didn’t end there, “I am going to have my father sue!” the boy raged.
The headmaster stared at me, his eyes filled with disappointment and anger, “My office, Mr William,” he said, walking away.
I saw them. Ace, Calista and Knox.
It all made sense.
They had planned this and I fell right into it.
A FEW MINUTES LATER.
“Do you know what it means to hit another student?” the dean asked, his eyes dripping with anger.
I could already tell he was thinking about what would happen with the fact that the boy was threatening to sue. He had what to protect. And me? Nothing. No one protects a charity case.
“They… he insulted my mother, posted a picture that…”
“Mr William, if you are being bullied, you know what you are meant to do, there is a form and a….”
I drown out his voice, of course he would say that, a form to fill, while they ignore the horror that goes on behind their walls.
“I said it before and maybe I need to remind you. When we opened up our doors to you, you had promised that there would be nothing about your life that would disrupt the school’s peace,” he said, his eyes narrowed.
There it was, the one thing that always makes me guilty.
The trailer kid.
“It will not happen again,” I said, slowly bowing my head to the pressure.
He smiled, “Good, because if it does, we will have no other choice than to take away your scholarship, we have to protect our own,” he said.
Tears formed in my eyes, but I held back from letting them roll. He wouldn’t see me cry. They didn’t deserve to see me cry.
“Thank you,” I said.
I was out the door before he said anything else. I wasn’t sure of what I would do if he said anything more.

My phone chimed, I pulled it out of my pocket, my eyes widening as I stared at the screen, “Mom?”
Her loud sob echoed through the speakers, “They laid me off! I gave them my life and now I have…”
The world tilted, I couldn’t breathe, couldn’t move.
“What?” my voice quaked.
“They didn’t have the decency to…”
“Mom…”
“They have taken everything Finn, we have to… I have to find a place where I can put your brothers until we are…” The call ended, abruptly, scary.
I could call her back, but what was I going to say? That I was going to leave school? Try to find a job that would sustain us?
I was barely even holding on here.
Zale had been right, messing with Knox Cole would cost me more than I can fathom. And now, I had learnt the hard way, it has cost my mother her job.
“Mr William?”
My head snapped up, looking at the dean’s secretary. She didn’t smile, never has to me anyway. “Yes?” my voice was soft, low.
What more did they have to offer? What other trick did they have up their sleeves?
“Here, your dormitory reassignment,” she said.
I blinked, “What?”
“An aid will take you to your new room,” she said, walking away as if she was scared to catch what I had.
A misfortune, that was it.
I stared at the official letter, a dormitory change in the middle of the semester? This shouldn’t happen. Unless….
Knox Cole.
His silence hadn’t been for nothing. He had been planning, moving pieces, while I chased shadows. Throwing fists like what they knew I was.
A trailer boy.
Nothing worthy to be in their presence.
Everything was spinning and I was barely holding on.
I was finally understanding the elite world. They weren’t loud. slow, a poison that kills fast.
Finn’s povThat was the only way to save him the stress; that was the only way to save him the embarrassment of seeing how my family lived.“What are you trying to say?” I sighed. “I'm saving you from all the troubles, Knox. Why don't you want to take the offer? Your father doesn't have to know you're gay. You can return to Calista.”He scoffed. “Is this about my dad, or the fact that your attitude changed the moment you heard me saying I want to go spend the holiday with your family?” I froze; he got the memo. I slowly started to realise how impossible everything was. I couldn't believe how fast he was able to know what I felt.“I don't want to be saved. I love you!” I scoffed. “Love? You have to be kidding me. After everything your dad said? You're supposed to be scared.” He stared at me confused, his eyes fixed on me with his face pale.“I don't care anymore. What I want from you is simple. I want you to love me.”I sighed, shoulders slumped.“I can't.”“What are you so scare
Knox’s PovI stared at the door, too stunned to stop him from leaving. Was it something I said?I tried to rethink what I had said, but there was nothing bad there, or was he still trying to process what was going on?” I exhaled, trying my best to be calm. I still couldn't understand what I had said wrong.“Maybe he needs some time alone,” I tried to make that sink into my head, hoping that things would help.By the time he returned to the room, I noticed how he walked in. Head lowered, almost like he wasn't trying to get noticed.“Finn?” I muttered, but he didn't respond. He walked straight to the side of his bed and tried to make his bed.I watched, stunned that he didn't respond to me. What the hell was going on with him?“Finn…” I called again, and this time I finally got up from my seat and walked towards him. However, when I attempted to touch his shoulders, he pulled away.He gave
Finn’s PovI paced back and forth, my hand trembling as my mind roamed around the reason Dean might have called him. He obviously did something wrong by beating Ace up, but I feared that wasn't the reason. What if the main reason he was called was because he hurt Calista? My heart thudded, and I felt my chest tighten. I really couldn't go to the Dean's office; my presence would be questioned, and that wasn't what I wanted.“You have to stay calm. I'm sure he'll be back soon.” I tried to pep myself, but that wasn't happening.Just when I felt I was about to explode, I heard the door open. I snapped my head towards the direction, my body following.“Knox.” I wasn't calm; I took quick steps and hugged him the moment I could. The hug was long, and he hugged me back, but I pulled away, my eyes searching for him. “I was so worried.” I started. “What happened?” I kept asking questions, but he remained quiet. This only made me worry more. The look on his face showed me there was definit
Knox’s povThe next morning, Finn was already prepared for class. I could see the worry in his eyes when he reached the door.“You're skipping class today?” I sighed.“There's one thing I didn't tell you last night.” He blinked, raised his brows, and immediately let go of the doorknob. He walked over to my side and took a seat. “We... We can talk later; you're going to be late.” His brows furrowed. “I have like thirty minutes. Does this also have to do with why you're skipping class today?” He paused for a few seconds. “Did you actually tell her we were a couple?” I shook my head, my eyes showing surprise. “No, that's not it. It's about my…” I sighed, lowering my shoulders.“It's about my hockey career.” He widened his eyes, blinking. “You got in trouble with the coach for beating up Ace?” I nodded. He took a deep breath to calm himself down and then placed his hands on my knees. “What kind of trouble?” It was becoming harder to say now that he was staring at me.“I was suspe
Finn’s PovI stood out in the hallway, my back resting against the wall with my left leg relaxing as extra support.I was tense. Sweat formed on my forehead, and I wondered what would happen.Would she be able to convince him to return to her? I exhaled, running my hands through my hair. However, I snapped my head towards our dorm's door that had been drawn open, and my eyes trailed Calista as she ran past me.She sobbed with her palms over her eyes, running as fast as she could. My eyes widened, and only one thought played in my mind. What exactly did he tell her?I didn't wait; I increased my pace, shutting the door Calista had left open behind me.I noticed how Knox was seated on the bed, eyes staring at the floor blankly. Whatever he told her was definitely something that affected them both deeply.I saw the red mark on his cheek, probably from a slap he had gotten from her; I wasn't so sure.I pressed my lips, wondering if this was the perfect time to ask him what had happened.
Knox’s Pov “Look, I don't know what you're talking about, but you can't be here. Do you understand? This is my dorm.” She scoffed. “I can't be here. Yet, you share it with him; what a way to support equality.” “He's a boy!” “But he's not in your class.” She had responses to everything I said even when it wasn't as serious as she made it look. “Look, I appreciate you coming, but you have to leave.” She froze, then shook her head. “You still haven't told me what the hell is going on. I know you might not want to say a word to me, but believe me, I will find out.” I used my hands to massage my temples, mumbling a few words as she kept ranting. “Why does he suddenly seem so important to you?” She pointed at Finn, her gaze dark and threatening. At the same time, I noticed she had been trying to hold back tears. “You
Finn’s PovONE WEEK LATER.My locker was gone. Not vandalised. Gone. As if it had vanished into thin air.In the empty space, was a note stapled to the wall.“You shouldn’t exist. Charity isn’t welcomed here.”No name.No signature. It wasn’t needed. The words were meant to hurt. But they didn’t, I
Finn’s Pov“Get your hands off him!”The hallway went silent.Apex-crest academy never goes silent. There is always noise, laughter, and the obnoxious hum of arrogance. But now? There was nothing. No one says it. Not in the halls with marble floors that only echo your mistakes. Or in the classroom,
Finn’s PovJason's attitude has changed in the past few meetings we've had. At first, he came off as a genuine friend, but now it seemed like something entirely different.I exhaled, looking over my shoulders as I walked back to my dorm. I felt he had feelings for me, but since he hadn't said anyt
KNOX’S POV“What do you want, Knox? Tell me, and I’ll give it to you if it means this stops.”I paused with my hand on the doorknob, the cool metal biting into my palm. I didn't turn around. I didn't want to see the desperation in his eyes, because looking at it made my own blood simmer with posse
