**Aurora's POV**

I didn't sleep for a single second. I spent the entire night lying perfectly still on my side of the bed, staring at the wall while my chest burned with a pain so intense I thought my heart was actually tearing apart. Every time Donald moved or shifted in his sleep next to me, I flinched.

The smell of that floral perfume was still faintly lingering in the room, mixing with the stale scent of alcohol, and it made me feel physically sick to my stomach.

When the sun finally started peeked through the heavy curtains, Donald groaned and sat up. He rubbed his face, his eyes bloodshot and nasty from the hangover.

He didn't even look at me as he swung his legs out of bed.

"Get up and make me some coffee," he muttered, his voice rough and laced with his usual morning irritation. "And make sure it’s actually hot today. Yesterday it tasted like dishwater."

I slowly pushed the covers off my body, my limbs feeling heavy like lead. I didn't say a word. I couldn't. I was terrified that if I opened my mouth, the agonizing screams trapped in my throat would come pouring out. I wrapped my oversized cardigan around myself and went downstairs to the kitchen.

Lola was already down there, prepping the coffee machine. The moment she saw my face, she stopped what she was doing. Her face fell, her eyes filled with an immediate, deep sadness for me.

"Ma'am," Lola whispered, stepping closer to me. "Did you sleep at all? Your eyes are completely bloodshot."

"I'm fine, Lola," I lied, my voice sounding completely dead and hollow even to my own ears. "Donald wants his coffee hot. Let me just do it."

"Ma'am, please let me handle it," she pleaded softly, reaching out to gently touch my arm. "Go sit down. You look like you're about to collapse."

Before I could even answer her, the heavy thud of Donald's footsteps echoed down the stairs. He walked into the kitchen, fully dressed in his pristine, expensive navy suit. He looked sharp, powerful, and completely unbothered, like he hadn't just spent the previous night destroying his wife's entire existence.

He didn't look at me. He just walked straight to the island, took the hot mug of coffee from the counter, and took a sip.

Instantly, his face twisted into deep disgust. Without a single warning, Donald threw the remaining scalding hot coffee straight into the kitchen sink, letting the liquid splash violently across the marble and onto my slippers.

"Are you completely useless, Aurora?" he roared, slamming the empty mug onto the counter so hard the porcelain cracked. "I told you I wanted it hot, not boiling to the point where it burns my tongue! Can you do one single thing right in this house? Just one?"

Lola flinched in the corner, her face turning pale as she squeezed her apron tightly.

I just stood there, staring at the dark brown liquid dripping down the white sink. The humiliation was choking me, but the pain of knowing *why* he hated me so much now was worse.

He didn't see a wife anymore. He saw an obstacle standing in the way of his secret life.

"I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice trembling as I looked down at the floor. "I'll make another one."

"Don't bother," Donald snapped, pulling out his ringing phone from his pocket.

The second his eyes hit the screen, his entire demeanor changed. The harsh, angry lines on his face completely vanished, replaced by a soft, eager expression.

He cleared his throat, turning his back to me as he answered it in a voice so smooth and gentle it made my stomach violently churn.

"Good morning," Donald purred into the receiver, completely ignoring my presence. "Yes, I'm just leaving the house now. I'll be at the venue in twenty minutes. Don't worry, everything is handled."

He hung up, grabbed his briefcase, and walked toward the front door without giving me another glance.

"I won't be home for dinner tonight. Don't call my phone. I have an exclusive corporate gala at the Grand Horizon Hotel, and the press will be there. The last thing I need is you blowing up my phone and embarrassing me in front of my investors."

The front door slammed shut behind him, the loud bang echoing through the empty house.

The silence that followed was suffocating. I dropped onto one of the kitchen chairs, my hands shaking so violently I had to press them flat against the table.

"Ma'am," Lola said, her voice cracking with thick emotion as she rushed to my side. "Please, don't let him do this to you. He is treating you like an animal. It isn't right."

"He's going to a gala, Lola," I whispered, a single hot tear finally escaping and racing down my cheek. "He told me not to call him."

"He is a wicked man, ma'am," Lola muttered, wiping at her own eyes.

I spent the next two hours in a complete daze, but then a strange, desperate thought took hold of my mind. *The Grand Horizon Hotel.* He said it was a public corporate gala. If I went there, if I just saw him from a distance, maybe I could see who she was. Maybe I could understand what that woman had that I didn't.

I forced myself to go upstairs. For the first time in three years, I didn't put on a baggy, oversized sweater.

I went to the back of the closet and pulled out a simple black dress I hadn't worn since before our marriage. It was tight, pressing uncomfortably against the weight I had gained, but it was the only formal thing I had. I brushed my hair, did my makeup to cover up the dark circles under my eyes, and took a taxi to the luxury hotel.

When I arriving, the lobby was grand, filled with wealthy people in expensive gowns and suits.

There were reporters and flashing cameras near the entrance of the main ballroom. My heart was hammering so loud against my ribs I was sure people could hear it. I hid behind a large marble pillar near the entrance, my eyes scanning the crowd desperately.

And then, I spotted him.

Donald was standing near the center of the room, holding a glass of champagne. He looked incredibly handsome, laughing and talking with a group of older board members. But he wasn't alone.

Standing right next to him, her hand casually resting on his forearm, was a woman dressed in a breathtaking, backless emerald gown.

She looked like a supermodel. Her hair was perfectly styled, and she was smiling with so much confidence, speaking to the investors with an easy, educated charm that had everyone captivated.

My breath completely left my body. The room turned completely ice-cold.

The woman holding onto my husband's arm, the woman he was looking at with absolute adoration and pride, wasn't a stranger from his office.

It was Lily.

My mind violently shattered. The phones didn't tally. The numbers didn't match. But it was her. It was my best friend. The girl who had sat on my couch yesterday, holding my hands, pretending to pity me while telling me to trust God.

Before I could even scream, before I could even process the sick, demonic betrayal, Donald leaned down. Right there, in front of the flashing cameras of the press, in front of his entire corporate world, he leaned in and kissed Lily deeply on the lips.

Lily melted into the kiss, her fingers moving up to stroke his chest, completely unbothered by the crowd.

Suddenly, a sharp, familiar voice whispered directly into my ear from behind the pillar, making me jump.

"I told you she was a snake under the grass, Aurora. Now, are you finally ready to ruin them, or are you going to keep crying?"

I spun around, my tear-filled eyes widening in absolute shock as I looked at the person standing right behind me in the shadows.

Aurora's POV**I became completely invisible in my own home. From the morning I moved my few belongings into the dark guest room at the far end of the east wing, the mansion belonged entirely to Lily. Donald no longer addressed me with even a shred of common decency. He was attentive to Lily in ways he had never been to me in years, escorting her down the grand staircase for meals, calling the private doctors constantly to check on her, and praising her for the simplest things. And me? I was ordered to be considerate. I was ordered to be supportive. I was explicitly told by my own husband to give Lily whatever she wanted, no matter how small or unreasonable the request."You are just a barren lowlife," Donald had told me coldly across the dining table when Lily complained about the noise of my footsteps. "Lily is giving this family a future. She holds a noble status in this house now, and you will treat her with absolute respect."His words destroyed what little pride I had left in

**Aurora's POV**The walls of the bedroom were closing in on me, suffocating me until my lungs burned for oxygen. I couldn't breathe. I couldn't look at Donald’s face for another second. He had already turned his back to me, climbing into our bed and pulling the sheets up, completely unbothered by the fact that he had just stripped away every single ounce of my human dignity.*A woman who couldn't even produce a single egg for three years. You are just a useless piece of skin.*The words echoed in my head, a vicious, repeating loop that shattered my mind completely. I stumbled back onto my feet, my body shaking so violently I could barely control my limbs. I didn't grab a coat. I didn't grab my shoes. I just ran.I pushed open the bedroom door and sprinted down the dark hallway, my bare feet slapping against the cold hardwood stairs. **Aurora's POV**Donald aggressively slapped his hand against the wall switch, slamming the light on and flooding the room with a bright, blinding glare that made my swollen eyes sting."Why are you up so late?" he snapped, his voice rough and defensive as he towered over my chair. "You scared me. Why the hell are you sitting in the dark acting like a demon or something? Get to bed."I didn't flinch from his anger. I just tilted my head back, looking up at him through the harsh light while the misery completely consumed my soul. "I told you. I'm just waiting for my husband to get back. How was the gala, Donald?"I felt so confident and bold that, i doubted and wondered where it came from.Donald let out a harsh, mocking laugh, casually unbuttoning his cuffs. "I was surrounded by brilliant minds tonight, Aurora. And all I could think about was how lucky you are that I haven't abandoned you yet. You have no one else.
