View More"We have to get married just to enter a country..” Sabrina smiled, staring at the marriage certificate that required her signature.
“It's Imani. They're old-fashioned. It's romantic.” Finn and Sabrina travel to Imani, a country with a strict no-cohabitation policy for unmarried couples. To get in without revealing their relationship, they sign a quiet marriage certificate, planning to divorce the moment they return home, treating it as a formality rather than a real marriage. They weren't about to let a customs policy ruin the only vacation they'd managed to steal for themselves after keeping their relationship a secret for years. If signing a temporary marriage certificate meant spending two weeks with each other in paradise for their four years anniversary, then what was the harm? They weren't really getting married. At least not yet. It was just paperwork. A harmless little lie. Their signature is just enough ink to get them through the gates and into the villa they'd booked overlooking the coast. As they get back, Finn draws up the divorce paperwork, signs his portion, hands it to Sabrina to sign, submit to the registrar and the whole thing would disappear like it never happened. Just as she's about to sign, her stepfather calls, pulling her into the business appointment she's missed while away. By the time she returns, her puppy has torn the document and coffee has ruined what's left of it, the page warped and unreadable in patches. She calls her lawyer to draft a new one immediately. She'd collect it first thing in the morning, signs it, get Finn's signature, and submit it before their families find out. But the next morning, Finn proposed to her for real, dropping to one knee and telling her to be his actual wife. One that he wouldn't hide or hide from neither of their families. Overwhelmed with joy, Sabrina completely forgets to get the divorce decree across to Finn for his signature. The diamond ring glittered beneath the chandelier and Sabrina couldn't stop staring at it. After four years of keeping their relationship a secret, he had finally proposed and would be introducing her officially to his family. "You've looked at that ring at least a hundred times," Finn teased and kissed her hand. "I should've done it sooner." Warmth spread through Sabrina's chest. All the waiting had been worth it. The promises about timing and patience had finally paid off. For the first time in a long while, she felt hopeful. His parents were finally going to find out about them. “Soon to be Mrs Guidotti,” She smiled as Finn poured them each a glass of wine. "To us." "To us." Their glasses clinked together and they started discussing the wedding preparation. The moment they had spent years planning was finally here. In seconds, Finn pulled her into his arms. Sabrina laughed as he kissed her forehead, neck, cheek and then her lips. Slowly, the kiss deepened. She wrapped her arms around his neck while he caressed her breast, planting his mouth on her hardened nipple, causing her to let out a slight moan. Engrossed by the pleasure, Sabrina's glass tilted and the red wine splashed across both their outfits. "Oh shit." Sabrina pulled back immediately. Without thinking, she reached into the breast pocket of his suit, pulled out what she assumed was a pocket square and began using it to dab at the stain on his chest. "Forget it.. we should shower and change." Finn says, taking his suit off, "I can't wait to do all I intend to do to you tonight. By the time we're done, Finn Jr will be on his way.” He smirked. He seductively headed towards the bathroom, watching her unzip her dress. Before entering, he glanced over his shoulder. "I’ll be waiting." Then she heard running water. She looked down at the black piece of fabric still in her hand. Without a second thought, she tossed it onto the bed but the material landed awkwardly and unfolded. That didn't look like a pocket square. Slowly, she approached the bed, bending over to take a closer look. Without hesitating, she reached for the black fabric, turned it over and her stomach dropped. This wasn't a pocket square placed in most suits. It was a thong! A black lace thong! Sabrina pressed her lips together, fighting back the bitter after taste of the wine she had minutes ago. She glared at the fabric, trying to convince herself that she must be mistaken. It was Tiny. Delicate. And definitely not hers. Her pulse quickened. The room suddenly felt very quiet. She was almost positive that Finn loves her and would never do this to her on the most important day of her life–their engagement night. A buzzed shrill ring cut from the tension. The ringtone echoed through the large room, causing Sabrina's heart to skip a bit. Finn's phone ringing on the bed. Her eyes shifted to the screen and she caught a glimpse of a name she wasn't familiar with. Right as she was about to reach for the phone, a deep voice startled her. “Sab, honey… is that my phone?” Finn yelled from the bathroom. “Ignore it, tonight is all about us, baby,” Sabrina tells him as she notices a message notification appeared after the call. She wasn't trying to snoop. But one line caught her attention. [The result of that night] ~ Sent Elvira. Sabrina's fist tightened. The phone buzzed again. And again. With trembling hands, she picked it up, and unlocked it. She tapped on it and a message thread opened. A photo loaded first. Then another. Then a video. These images struck Sabrina like a bolt of lightning, making her body run cold. For the first time, she was dumbstruck and stunned to even blink. On the screen was a blondie baddie dressed like a seductive nurse. The bed wasn't unfamiliar. It was this bedroom. This room. This same bed in front of her. Her legs suddenly became too weak, she could barely stand. Another attachment appeared beneath the video. A pregnancy test. Boldly positive. Then an ultrasound image. A caption followed. [Congratulations, Daddy. Finn Jr will be here faster than we imagined.] The last message completely broke her into pieces. The phone slipped from her fingers and crashed against the floor. For a second, Sabrina felt too frozen to move or speak. Her world came crumbling that she didn't realise how painfully her tears had streamed down her face until she heard him. From inside the bathroom came Finn's voice. "Honey?" Sabrina couldn't breathe yet as her heart kept racing painfully, she reached for her chest, trying to put herself together. "Honey, I'm waiting." Finn's voice came out a little flirty. Four long years of dedication and love, years of choosing him over everyone else, years of believing she was the woman in his heart, ears of imagining a wedding, a home, a family.. years spent building a future with a man she thought would become her husband, years of trust, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty. And all it took was a thong and a text message to turn those years into a cruel joke. Her eyes darkened with pain and realization as it closely dawns on her that Finn never wanted their relationship to be known to anyone.. especially his parents. According to him, the time wasn't right. Perhaps Elvira was the reason he kept their love a secret and will be mad at the slightest hint that they were a couple in public. Unable to bear the weight of the betrayal any longer, Sabrina hastily zipped up her dress, grabbed her bag, and fled the suffocating atmosphere. The moment she stepped out of the apartment, she headed for the stairs. Her legs trembled with every step. The images she had seen on Finn's phone refused to leave her mind. Tears blurred her vision as she descended the staircase. Lost in her thoughts, she missed a step. A gasp escaped her lips as her body pitched forward. Just before she could fall, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her back against a solid chest. Sabrina froze. For a brief moment, neither of them moved. Then she looked up. Standing before her was a tall, imposing man with piercing green eyes and a sharp jawline that looked as though it had been sculpted by the hand of god. He appeared to be in his early thirties. The chandelier hanging overhead cast a soft glow over his features, making him look almost unreal. Like someone who belonged on the cover of a fashion magazine. Up close, however, there was nothing soft about him. His expression was cool. Intimidating. Unapproachable. He wore a pair of dark pajama bottoms, but his upper body was bare, revealing broad shoulders and a well-defined chest. To Sabrina's embarrassment, her gaze lingered a second too long. "Are you hurt?" His deep, slightly hoarse voice broke the silence. He noticed she was visibly shaken and slightly disoriented but he wasn't sure what the cause was. Slowly, his eyes scanned her face and he had to admit this was the first time he's seeing a redhead this stunning. The world seemed to stop for a second. The scent of expensive cologne drifted toward Sabrina. For a moment, she found herself distracted by it. Then recognition struck. He looked exactly like Finn. Well... almost. The resemblance was uncanny, but where Finn appeared warm and approachable, this man seemed like a sharper, more intoxicating version. Finn preferred his hair longer while his brother wore a neat buzz cut, making the differences between them more noticeable. Finn had mentioned having a twin brother who lived abroad and managed the overseas headquarters of the family business. Miller. So this was him. The brother she had never met. Before she could say anything, a familiar voice rang out. "Sabrina!" She turned. Finn stood at the top of the staircase. The moment his eyes landed on Miller's shirtless body and his hand resting on her waist, his expression darkened. He shut the door behind him on his way out, leaving Sabrina alone with Miller in the boardroom. She crossed the room and instinctively reached to shrug the jacket off her shoulders. "If this is about the jacket—" "It's yours." He nodded toward the chair across from him. "Your presentation really was excellent. No wonder my grandfather refused to consider working with anyone other company." "That's kind of you to say." She sat, smoothing her skirt out of habit. "And thank you, for earlier. Getting us to the hospital so quickly. And for the jacket." "Thank you for saving my daughter's life." "It was nothing. Anyone would have done the same." She added, "How is she?" "She's back home." His eyes dropped to her finger and noticed something that sparked his interest, "Are you engaged?" Sabrina instinctively hid her hand. She hadn't realized she still had Finn's ring on until now. “Not anymore.” He cleared his throat, "Alright. I have a proposition for you.” He pulled a black
"Do you hate me this much?" she whispered, her heart beating painfully. Before Harold could respond, her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a text from her mum. [Sabrina darling, the doctor says the nerves in Clara's brain are getting weaker by the hour. Please, just do as your father says. I can't lose her. I can't lose another person.] ~ Katherine. "I'm guessing that's Katherine." Harold's voice was almost gentle now, which somehow made it crueler. "Take your mother's advice, Sabrina. You need me right now just as much as I need you." He glanced at his watch without an ounce of urgency in his expression. "Twenty minutes, child. The clock isn't going to wait for you to feel better about this." Sabrina looked down at the folder again. At the clause that would keep her under Vector's thumb for as long as he wanted her there then at her mother's message, still glowing on her screen, begging her to bend. She thought of Clara's face, pale against that hospital pillow. Then a pic
For the first time, Sabrina wondered if she had ever truly known the man standing before her. Finn stepped closer, his voice softened. “Can we please put this aside right now and focus on what actually matters? Clara needs urgent surgery. Who do you think is going to pay those bills, Sabrina? You think Mr. Smith is going to spend a single dollar on a girl who doesn't carry his last name? She's an Anderson. The second you're not a Smith, his wallet stays shut. Come with me to the registry and everything else gets handled the moment we sign our marriage certificate.” She felt something twist violently inside her, "Are you trying to blackmail me right now? Or gaslight me? Because I genuinely can't tell anymore." "I'm trying to make this easy for you." He reached for her hand and she pulled it back before he could touch her. "Your stepfather already erased your name from that company you work so hard to build. You think you have options right now? I'm the only option standing in f
"Thank goodness." "The receptionist said they've been searching for her everywhere." "She must have wandered off." Sabrina slowly rose to her feet. Only now did she realize that these weren't ordinary men. The concern on their faces was personal. The kind of panic people had when something happened to someone important. As the crowd shifted, a familiar figure stepped forward. For a split second, Sabrina froze. Him? The man she had met on the staircase… Finn's brother.. What was Miller doing here..? His composure had cracked and his eyes never left the little girl. "Erica." The name left his lips in a low, strained voice. Wait.. could he be the poppa she was referring to? For a moment, Sabrina was too stunned to move close.. Finn had mentioned having a brother but his brother having a child was what she had no idea of. Still lost in thoughts, her phone rang and she answered without hesitation, her eyes still glued to the ambulance, “Hello?” “Is this Sabrina Smith?” A shar
