LOGINChapter six
Silas' pov "What is the meaning of this?" My voice boomed loudly in my office as I glared at Nora but she stared back at me unperturbed. "The girl was injured, what did you expect them to do?" She retorted as she folded her arms in front of her chest. "That was not why they were sent out; they should have stick to the mission, " I grinned. "Really Silas? You taught them better than that, you taught all your pack members better than to leave someone who needs help for dead." Nora stared at me pointedly while I turned away from her. "You said she was a rogue," I reminded her with the quirk of my brow. "That doesn't make her less of a wolf, come on Silas." She called out to my back. "But we don't know her motive. This might be a setup...a plan to infiltrate our pack," I remind her. "And what if she's merely an innocent woman who needed help and was stranded?" She countered and I remained silent. "Have you treated her?" I asked after a moment. "Yes," Nora nodded. "Then she can be on her way once she's strong enough. I don't want her staying a second longer than necessary and I hope you stationed enough guards in front of her door, we can-" I began. "Can you just breathe Silas?" Nora cut me off as she rounded me till she was standing in front of me. My nostrils flared as my wolf growled within me but I remained silent. Only Nora, my little sister could talk to me in such a tone, interrupt me, and get away with it. "I'm not an amateur, I know how these things work. I stationed a guard in front of the room and I made it clear to her that if she tried any funny business she would be punished accordingly," Nora assured me and my eyes scanned her face and I sighed. "We both know you don't have a mean bone in your body to say any of those things Nora," I called her out on her bluff and she chuckled guiltily. "Alright you are right, I might not have put it in those exact words but I'm sure she got my point." She shrugged. Nora's eyes glazed over and I could tell she was thinking about something but I remained silent as I waited for her to come out with it. "There was something she said that was a bit weird though," Nora commented after a moment and my wolf was immediately on alert. "What did she say?" I asked as I shoved my hands into my pockets. "When she woke up she called me...by my name as though she knew me and she seemed shocked to see me and where she was," Nora explained and my eyes turned to slits. "She's a spy," I said without a moment of hesitation as I turned and made to head towards the door but Nora blocked me, stopping me in my tracks. "You can't just con-" She began. "How else can you explain her knowing your name?" I roared and Nora took a step back. "This is an insult to my pack, the least the rogues could do was send a competent spy rather than a novice." I let out a dry laugh. "Diana was also in the room and kept calling out to me, it's possible she simply heard her and pieced it together," Nora suggested and I squinted at her. "You don't even know her, why are you making excuses to keep her here?" I asked and Nora looked away from me. "I can't explain it," she began as she let out a deep sigh. "She seems familiar, like an old friend I'd forgotten about." She divulged and I remained silent as I waited for her to continue. "When her eyes opened and our gazes locked...I was sure I knew her and when she called my name..." She trailed off. "I know it doesn't make any sense but I don't know how else to explain it, Silas." She sighed as she rubbed her temples. "It's alright, you don't have to explain any more than you already have," I told her. "I know you don't trust rogues and neither do I Silas but she's different, don't ask me how I know...I just do." Nora said as she grabbed my hand with both of hers. "Just come look at her, speak to her for a second. You'll see she can't even hurt a fly and you might even see what I see in her." Nora continued before I could speak and as I stared down at her determined eyes I sighed because I knew I had already lost. "Fine-" I began and Nora squealed. "I'm not saying she can stay in the pack, I'm just agreeing to see and speak with her. I have to determine if she's a threat to this pack," I explained and some of Nora's excitement waned. "Nora I know you and I know what you are trying to do," I began and Nora furrowed her brows in confusion. "What are you talking about?" She asked. "You are bored and lonely, especially now that-" I cut myself off at the reminder of my dead mate. My heart still ached just thinking about her and I shut out all memories of her. "Never mind, let's go see this rogue." I gritted, annoyed by myself. "Silas, are you alright?" Nora asked and without looking at her I could tell she had on that sickening look of pity. "I know it's not-" she began but I pulled away from her, cutting her short. "I'm fine Nora, let's go," I muttered as I walked past her and out the door, the last thing I needed was a pep talk. My wolf howled within me, nudging and itching at me to head towards the borders but I ignored him. I had to see this rogue issue through before anything else.Chapter 203Silas' pov Nora and Asher had been talking my ears off for the last thirty minutes but I ignored them as my eyes remained latched onto Scarlett's face.Any minute now, she should wake up any minute now."Silas, are you even listening to anything we are saying?" Nora asked and I let out a sigh as I turned to her."What?" I barked out and she took a hesitant step back but Asher placed a comforting hand on her back."You are here to tell me to take a break, to eat, to get some sleep, to take care of myself right? I know the drill, you've said what you have to and you can now leave." I growled at them and Nora seemed taken aback by my aggressive tone but Asher merely stared at me blankly."We are worried about you," Nora whispered and I sighed as I pinched the bridge of my nose."You shouldn't be worried about me, you should be worried about Scarlett. She is the one who has been unconscious for the last month, she has been the one fighting an internal battle within herself an
Chapter 202Nora's pov"I'm worried about him," I told Asher who held onto my waist and drew me to the warmth of his chest."I'm worried about him as well but you should know how stubborn Silas is, he won't listen to anyone especially not when it concerns Scarlett." Asher pointed out and I knew he was right but my heart still ached for Silas. It had already been a month, a whole month and Scarlett still hadn't woken up. Silas had been by her side all through it and no matter how hard we tried to draw Silas away from Scarlett's bed, he just wouldn't budge."There has to be something we can do," I suggested but Asher shrugged."You heard what Gary said the last time we called him. It's entirely up to Scarlett now and it seems she's taking her precious time." Asher muttered and I leaned away from him a little, to stare into his eyes."What if she never wakes up?" I voiced the fears I had been harbouring in my heart and I knew Silas and Asher were thinking as well."We can't be negative r
Chapter 201Silas' pov I stared down at Scarlett's pale face as the machine beeped in the room. The door pulled open behind me but I didn't bother to look away from her."Nothing yet?" Nora's soft voice called out to me as she placed a hand against my shoulders and I shook my head.It had been two days since the incident and Scarlett was yet to wake up."Has Doctor Kyle come in to check up on her?" Nora inquired and I nodded."Nothing's changed. He said the tonic neutralized the poison and now we just have to wait for her body to heal on its own time." I informed Nora and she let out a sigh."At least that's good news," Nora muttered and I hummed in response."You should get some rest, Scarlett is out of the worst danger," Nora suggested but I remained silent. There was no way I was leaving Scarlett's side before she woke up."Silas, you haven't gotten any rest for the last two days, there are dark circles under your eyes, and-" Nora began but I cut her off."I'm not leaving Scarlett
Chapter 200Silas' pov"How is she?" I asked Doctor Kyle and he let out a shaky breath."What's wrong?" I asked as my heart beat wildly in my chest."I ran tests and assessed what was wrong with her and I discovered she was poisoned." The doctor announced and I nodded."Yes, I don't know the type of poison but I do know it was laced with silver," I replied and he nodded slowly."I don't know how to say this Alpha but I've never seen poison so strong before in all my years as a doctor." Doctor Kyle revealed and I felt the earth shifting from under me."What are you trying to say?" I growled out and he took a step back as he cleared his throat."I've given her something that could help with the silver but I'm unsure of the components of the poison and they might be potent enough to render all my efforts useless but...there is no antidote for that poison." He revealed and everything stilled for a second.Goosebumps spread across my flesh at his words and a ringing filled my ears."What a
Chapter 199Silas' povFear gripped me as Scarlett went slack in my arms."Scarlett?" I called out to her as I gently shook her but she didn't stir and her face was alarmingly becoming pale.I scooped her into my hands and ran as fast as my feet could carry me back to the pack house. Asher had lined all the captives in front of the infirmary and they were bound together. I ignored all the curious stares at me as I made my way to the infirmary and I burst through the rooms. Many of my pack members who were injured from the attack were getting treated and I took Scarlett to the room specially reserved for me."Get doctor Kyle," I shouted at the nurse who stepped into the room and she scrambled out of the room just as fast as she came in."Scarlett?" I called her again as I placed her against the bed and gently tapped her cheeks but she still didn't stir and my heart hammered against my chest as she almost seemed...dead."What's the prob-" Doctor Kyle began as he stepped into the room bu
Chapter 198Scarlett povAria gasped as she took a step away from me and I felt as though my body was no longer my own but I was merely watching from the back.My wolf took control and before I could process what was happening, I had Aria on the floor. She stared up at me fearfully and her eyes pleaded with me but I growled at her."Please, please don't harm me. I only wanted to take back what was mine." She pleaded and I growled lowly and she immediately shut up.My claws elongated and dug into her chest and a sickening sense of satisfaction filled me as the smell of her blood filled the air.Aria howled in pain and clawed at my paws but I didn't bulge. I noticed her hands fidgeting behind her back and before I could react, she stabbed my paw with a similar-looking injection to the one she had given Silas.I howled in pain as rage overtook me and I slashed her neck open, enjoying as she choked on her own blood and her blood splashed against my white fur.I remained on top of her as I
Chapter 151Silas' povI stared down at Scarlett in my arms as her head rose and fell in rhythm with my chest. My finger lightly trailed her features and I marveled at just how beautiful the woman in my arms was.A small smile graced my lips as I remembered how much the sight of Scarlett had grated
Chapter 146Scarlett's pov"He'll be back in a day or two," the familiar feminine voice called out. I couldn't place exactly where I had heard that voice; it was the same one I had listened to a while back."I don't want any mistakes, I don't want any more excuses. I just want the job done," the wo
Chapter 149Silas' pov"How is your pack faring Alpha? I imagine it mustn't be easy ruling without a Luna," Alpha Ronan asked as we walked together."You make it look so easy," I pointed out as he had also been ruling his pack without a mate."Trust me there are days I wish my Thea were still alive
Chapter 147Scarlett's pov"Trust me I didn't want to because you really weren't a problem but you just couldn't mind your damn business and I needed to weaken Silas as much as I possibly could," Anna explained and tears pricked the back of my eyes."You had to be disposed for the greater good," An
