Chapter 2

Aurora's POV

"James has been dying for you, Aurora. That look of his eyes saying everything." My best friend Isabella chuckled while sipping on her coffee, comfortably crossing her leg and leaning against the chair as if the cafeteria is her second home.

"Let him go to hell." I snorted, remembering the last college party.

It's been two months I admitted into San Francisco State University. Since then James had an eye on me. At first I was also interested in him. Who wouldn't want to be with a man like him? Senior year student, doing his bachelor in chemical engineering, brilliant with a big future, ambitious and handsome.

But at my first college party, the thing I saw just broke my heart. He was making out with the girl I hate most, Kiara, my witch of a classmate. She hates me over everything as if I was born to be her maid but unfortunately turned to be her classmate.

After that I stopped looking at James. And now he's dying for me. Ridiculous.

"Look at that pathetic slut. If I had a golddiger of a mother like that, I would never show my face to others. Still living at Fernandez's mansion like they're the owner."

That's not new to me. I didn't bother to look at Kiara and her two slaves.

"Ignoring us huh? It's funny that a murderer's child is studying with us. What an era and the fucking rules of college! This murderer's child should be terminated from this college." Mia rolled her eyes and snatch my coffee cup from me before spilling it all over my dress.

"What the fuck is this?" Isabella yelled in anger.

Now all eyes in the cafeteria is on me. I can't deal with this anymore. Firstly, the drama with Maria this morning and now another drama with Kiara.

Kiara is the daughter of one of the most powerful politician in San Francisco. She knows everything about my stepfather's family because her father was a friend of my stepfather. I saw her a few times with his father coming at Artemis Manor when my stepfather was alive. She used to tell me since childhood that she'll marry my stepbrother one day and kick me out of the house including my sister and my mother. And I didn't give a fuck about her thought.

Now she had good knowledge about the family, she smoothly make lies and spread rumors about me and my mother.

"Enough Kiara. My mother is not a murderer. And let me be by myself. Stop bothering me. From now on, I want you to stay away from me." I said calmly through greeted teeth.

"Look, the little golddiger is threatening me!" Kiara laughed loudly.

Now some of the students in the cafeteria started filming the moment.

Kiara was about to grab a bottle of juice from one of the tables, I landed a slap on her.

Everyone stopped and gasped. Because they know the consequences but I don't care anymore.

"Stay the fucking away from me or next time it won't be only one slap." I warned her through greeted teeth before making my way out of the cafeteria with Isabella.

"You'll regret this, bitch!"

I heard Kiara scream as her two slaves Mia and Liza were comforting her and sending curses at me.

As I reached the locker room, I fell on the floor and cried out. Immediately Isabella hugged me tightly. She's been the only person hugging me when I cry since my mother fell sick.

"Why? Why everyone hates me? Even my sister yells at me for everything. As if she's tired of me too. I've been dealing with the people's hurtful words since I stepped into that cursed mansion. What's my fault? My mother is not a golddiger. How many time should I say this to all the people? Even everyone thinks my stepbrother left the house for me. Why don't they understand I didn't do anything?" I cried while gripping Isabella's shoulder.

"Shh. I'm with you, Rora. I know it's not your fault. Just don't cry. Whoever this says, they all are fucking assholes. And don't take Kiara's word. She's a slut herself." Isabella patter my back and shushed me.

I stayed like that for like how many times I don't know. After I felt lightweight, we headed for the next class.

When I finally reached home, it's already evening. The sweet autumn air brushed my face as I entered the mansion.

To my surprise, I found my sister at home. Normally this time, she's be in the hospital with mom.

"Are you feeling well, sissy? Why didn't you go to the hospital today?" I asked in concern, joining in the couch beside her.

"Tell me Aurora, did you even check the mail box ever in these forty days?" She asked me, looking into my eyes.

That made me think that my sister is in a very serious mood.

"Yeah maybe one or two times. Why? Did they contact us?" My eyes lit up as I wrapped my hands around my sister.

"Yes, my little brainless sister. They replied to out mail ten days ago. They sent us three flight tickets and some money. The flight would be expired in two days. How careless you are!" My sister gritted her teeth in anger.

I understand the reason. Right now I really want to slap myself hard for this brainlessness.

"I'm sorry, sissy. It's a mistake, I thought they.."

"Okay now just pack up everything because we're flying in two days." She stopped me and said.

"What? Am I going with you? Hell, no. What about my college?" I asked in disbelief.

"Aurora, for mom's treatment, we won't be here for at least a year. I can't left you here for over a year. It's a long treatment. Maybe I'll talk to Artemis and admit you in a college in NYC." My sister replied with a big smile.

Artemis. Will he ever care about us?

"Now stop questioning and annoying me. Go upstairs and freshen up. We need to go for shopping." My sister patted my back and ushered me to go.

My eyes lit up at the thought of shopping. After a long time, we're going for shopping. I couldn't help but jump like a little girl.

My sister Sofia is four years older than me but sometimes I feel like she's an older woman. She always surprises me with the way she handle everything and take care of me. And here I am, still act as a child, need my sister's pampering.

I took a long breath as we finally stepped out of the airport. The company sent a car for us. I still don't know where we'd be staying and my sister didn't bother to tell me. As long as I'm with my sister I don't care.

In the middle of my thought, the car stopped and my sister got out. As I looked out, I saw we're in front of the hospital where my mother's finally admitted.

"Aurora, you go to the mansion and rest. I'm staying with mom for a little while because the doctors would want to talk to me and many more formalities." My sister spoke with a gentle smile.

After a long time, I saw her relax a bit. The tiredness from her face started to disappear. I could clearly see the Hope in her eyes.

"No. I'm coming with you. I can't let you roam alone in this big city." I shook my head and pouted.

"Don't worry, there will be people from the company. They'll assist me. We're not out stepfather's real children but remember my mother was married to him." She giggled making me scoff.

"Okay, then. Stay cautious. And call me."

I threw a flying kiss to my sister as the car started moving to the unknown place where we'll be staying from now on.
