Caroline's POV

“Actually, Mother, I think it’s time you all understood exactly who you’re threatening,” I said, pulling my phone from my pocket right there in the middle of their living room.

My fingers didn’t even shake as I dialed. The three of them watched me like I’d lost my mind, Cerene’s hand freezing mid-air with that tissue, my father’s eyebrows shooting up, and my mother’s mouth pressing into a thin line.

Margaret picked up on the second ring. “Caroline, darling. Everything alright?”

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 32

Caroline's POV“Ready to show everyone how madly in love we still are, hubby?” I asked Peter with a playful lilt as we stepped out into the driveway. The evening breeze brushed against my skin, carrying the faint scent of flowers from the garden, but the real mess was already building between us.Then my eyes landed on the car.Cerene sat primly in the front passenger seat, dressed in a soft cream outfit that screamed “fragile beauty.” A delicate shawl was draped over her shoulders, and she kept her head slightly bowed, looking every bit the pitiful survivor. My blood simmered, but I refused to let it show.I rolled my eyes dramatically and turned to Peter, giving him a long, knowing stare. He had the decency to look slightly uncomfortable but said nothing. Without missing a beat, I opened the back door and slid gracefully into the rear seat, making sure my dress rode up just enough to show off my legs as I crossed them.Peter got behind the wheel, the car engine purring to life und

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 31

Caroline's POV“Make sure you pick a good restaurant,” I called after Peter as he left the room, my voice carrying that sweet edge I was starting to enjoy using on him. The door clicked shut and I let out a slow breath.I headed straight into the luxurious en-suite bathroom, stripping off my clothes and stepping under the hot spray of the shower. The water cascaded over my skin, easing some of the tension in my muscles. As I lathered soap across my body, memories flooded in without warning.I remembered softer days ...when Peter was sweet and attentive. We used to bathe together in this very tub, his hands gentle as they washed my back, laughter echoing off the tiles while he kissed my shoulders. Back when he made me feel wanted instead of like a possession. My hand slid lower, tracing over my stomach and between my thighs. I bit down hard on my lip, eyes fluttering shut as a quiet sigh escaped me. The touch was light, teasing, but it stirred heat low in my belly. For a moment I let

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 30

Caroline's POV“Keep yelling, it changes nothing!” I shouted out the open window as I sped away from the driveway, my parents’ voices fading behind me in a mess of threats and pleas. The shattered glass from the Mercedes crunched under my tires. I didn’t look in the rearview mirror even once. The drive to Peter’s mansion felt different this time. No tears, no hesitation. I gripped the steering wheel tighter, the Harrington bracelet cool against my skin. *If he wants this marriage so badly, fine. I’ll stay his wife. But I’ll make it my own kind of hell — elegant, calculated, and impossible for him to ignore.*By the time I pulled up to the grand entrance, the sun was starting to set. I walked inside without knocking, heels clicking confidently across the marble floor. Peter was in the living room, pacing back and forth like a caged lion, phone in hand. His hair was slightly messed up, tie loosened — clearly he had heard something already.“Caroline,” he said, voice rough with relief an

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 29

Caroline's POVI stepped out of the house, the front door slamming hard behind me. My blood was still boiling as I walked down the driveway toward my car. My blood boiled with unexplained rage. And the only thing I wanted was to lash it all out. That’s when I saw a baseball bat leaning against the wall near the garage, probably left there by the gardener. Without thinking, I grabbed it. The wood felt heavy and solid in my hands.“Caroline! What are you doing?” my mother yelled from the doorway. My father and Cerene rushed out behind her, all three of them staring at me like I had gone insane.I didn’t answer with words at first. I swung the bat hard into the windshield of my father’s expensive Mercedes. The glass cracked with a loud crunch. I swung again, smashing the side mirror clean off. Then the headlights. Each hit felt like payback.“This is exactly what you did to my life!” I shouted, breathing hard between swings. “You crashed it piece by piece. You drugged me, you stole my

Everything alright?”I kept my eyes locked on my parents. “Not really. I need a favor. The Thompson company.....yes, some pests has been interfering in my life one too many times. Pull the investors. All of them. Start with the European fund and the original backed suppliers. Tell them it’s urgent.”A short pause, then Margaret’s crisp laugh came through. “Consider it done. I’ll make the calls myself. They won’t know what hit them until the stock dips tomorrow morning.”“Thanks, Grandma.” I hung up and slipped the

  • My Ex Husband's Greatest Regret    Chapter 27

Caroline's POV“Caro, you can’t just walk away from this,” Peter had said firmly in the hospital corridor, his hand catching my wrist as I tried to leave. His eyes were stormy, that possessive intensity back in full force. “We’re going home to fix this shit.... Together whether you like it or not.”I had pulled free, heart pounding. “Watch me.” My eyes were blazing with anger and unshed tears. But Peter’s phone had rung then... He stared at Cerene then at me with a firm look on his face. Then he had glanced at the screen, jaw tight, and muttered, “Stay here. I’ll be back in an hour.” With one last warning look, he had strode off toward the private elevator, Marcus trailing behind him like a little puppy. I didn’t waste time....I slipped out of the hospital and checked into a quiet hotel on the outskirts of the city, ignoring the dozens of missed calls that followed. The silence in the room felt like a fragile shield. I sat on the edge of the bed, staring at my phone, wondering if I
