Luna Alara lunged forward before anyone could speak. Her palm cracked across Selena’s face, sending her stumbling to the marble floor. The tray shattered beside her, goblets rolling across the hall.

“How dare you!” Alara shouted. “You ruin everything you touch!” The guests watched in stunned silence as Selena struggled to push herself up, blood blooming at the corner of her lip.

“The Moon Goddess does not make mistakes,” the priestess said, her voice echoing through the hall. “Alpha Lucienne’s mark has awakened. The bond has recognized someone.” She looked directly at Selena, her expression filled with disbelief. “Whether anyone accepts it or not… the moon has spoken.”

“Impossible,” Seraphine breathed, her smile falling apart. She grabbed Lucienne’s arm desperately. “It’s me. It has always been me. We were promised to each other.” But Lucienne barely seemed to hear her. His eyes remained fixed on Selena as the mark on his wrist burned hotter with every passing second.

“No!” Alara snapped. “She’s cursed. She isn’t worthy of standing beside an Alpha.” Without warning, she seized Selena by the arm and dragged her across the floor. “Apologize for this disgrace before I throw you out myself.”

Selena cried out as pain shot through her wrist. “Mother… I didn’t do anything.” Tears blurred her vision, but she refused to beg. She had spent her entire life carrying blame for things beyond her control. She wouldn’t confess to a crime she hadn’t committed.

“Enough.” Lucienne’s voice was quiet, yet it silenced the entire hall. He stepped forward, each footfall heavy against the stone. His eyes dropped to Alara’s hand gripping Selena’s wrist, then slowly lifted to meet the Luna’s furious glare. “Release her.”

Alara hesitated, but before she could answer, Darius moved first. He gently pulled Selena behind him, placing himself between her and the raging Luna. “No woman deserves this,” he said evenly. The simple act sent another wave of whispers racing through the crowd as Seraphine stared at Darius in disbelief.

Just then, Lucienne’s mark burst into crimson light. Selena gasped as an identical symbol ignited beneath the skin of her own wrist, brighter than before. The hall shook violently. Candles exploded one after another, and the priestess fell to her knees, staring at the blazing marks with horror. “This…” she whispered. “This isn’t an ordinary mate bond.”

Lucienne’s glowing mark pulsed again, each beat answering the one blazing beneath Selena’s wrist. Before anyone could react, an invisible force pulled them toward each other. Selena stumbled forward, and Lucienne caught her before she could fall. The moment their hands touched, a wave of energy swept through the hall, stealing the breath from everyone present.

“The bond is demanding completion,” the priestess gasped. “If they resist it now, the backlash could consume them both.” Her warning came too late. Neither Lucienne nor Selena seemed able to break away. Their wolves had already recognized what their minds refused to accept.

Seraphine rushed between them, shoving Selena backward. “Get away from him!” she cried, wrapping both hands around Lucienne’s arm.

“Lucienne, look at me. I’m your chosen mate. We’ve prepared for this day for years.” Her voice cracked with desperation, but Lucienne’s gaze drifted past her as though he couldn’t even hear her.

Seraphine grabbed Selena’s wrist. “You stole this from me!” she shouted. “You’ve always wanted my life!” Before Selena could answer, the glowing mark flared violently, throwing Seraphine backward. She landed hard against the steps of the altar, staring in horror as the bond rejected her.

Lucienne cupped Selena’s face without realizing what he was doing. She searched his eyes, equally frightened and confused. “I don’t understand,” she whispered. “Neither do I,” he admitted. Then the force binding them closed the final distance, and their lips met in a brief, irresistible kiss.

The instant they kissed, crimson light exploded through the ceremonial hall. Every candle burst into flame, the sacred altar cracked down the middle, and a deafening wolf howl echoed from somewhere beyond the palace walls. The priestess fell to her knees. “The bond has been sealed,” she whispered.

Seraphine’s scream cut through the roaring light. Tears streamed down her face as hatred replaced every trace of grace. She pointed a shaking finger at Selena. “If the Moon Goddess won’t take him from you,” she said through clenched teeth, “then I will.” Just then, the palace doors shook under a tremendous impact, and a voice thundered from outside, “Open the gates, now".

Kael’s smile never wavered.“The Moon Goddess is amusing,” he said. “She gave one woman two Alphas… and two brothers foolish enough to fight over her.”Lucienne’s eyes blazed. “Watch your tongue.”Kael shrugged. “Then ask yourself why your own brother rushed after her before you did.” His gaze shifted to Darius. “Tell me, Darius…. if Selena reached for your hand instead of his, would you let her go?” Silence answered him. That was all Kael needed. His smile widened as Lucienne’s wolf growled deep inside him.“You’ve said enough,” Lucienne snapped, drawing his sword.“So quick to anger.” Kael chuckled. “Perhaps that’s why she was crying when I found her.”Lucienne lunged. His blade sliced through Kael……and met nothing. The man vanished like smoke.Only his laughter remained, echoing through the clearing.“You’ve fallen into my trap, Alpha. You still don’t understand, do you?” His gaze swept over the two brothers. “Tonight was never about taking Selena. Lucienne was already moving before the guard finished speaking.“What do you mean she’s gone?” His voice cracked through the council chamber like thunder. The guard immediately dropped to one knee. “We searched her room, Alpha. The bed is empty, the window was open, and no one saw her leave.”Darius’s expression darkened. “That’s impossible.” He had left Selena only moments ago. She had promised to return straight to her room. His stomach tightened with dread as one terrifying thought crossed his mind. She hadn’t run away. Someone had taken her.“Seal every gate!” Lucienne ordered. “No one enters or leaves SilverMist without my permission.” Bloodfang warriors rushed from the chamber while SilverMist guards scattered through the palace. The peaceful dawn disappeared beneath the sound of alarms echoing across the fortress.Seraphine lowered her head, hiding the satisfaction flickering in her eyes. “I knew she was upset,” she whispered. “Maybe she couldn’t bear everything that happened t

The bedroom fell into an uneasy silence after the others left. Lucienne looked at Selena for a long moment before turning to Seraphine, who was still sitting on the floor with tears streaming down her face. “Until I know what truly happened, neither of you will leave this room without permission.” His voice was firm, almost distant. “I won’t pass judgment based on emotion.”Selena’s chest tightened. “You think I attacked her?” she asked quietly. Lucienne didn’t answer immediately. His gaze lingered on the shattered vase, the overturned furniture, and Seraphine’s bruised shoulder. Finally, he spoke. “I think too much has happened tonight for me to trust what my eyes want to believe.” The words struck Selena harder than a slap. Lucienne walked out of the room and slammed the door so hard, the entire day was ruined for him.The bedroom remained silent after Lucienne walked out. Seraphine slowly pushed herself to her feet, wiping the last of her tears away. She looked at Selena with cold

Silence swept through the ruined hall.No one dared breathe as their eyes darted between Lucienne and the stranger. Two identical mate marks glowed beneath the Blood Moon, each pulsing in perfect rhythm with the one on Selena’s wrist. The impossible had happened. Even the priestess stood frozen, her lips moving soundlessly as though searching for a prayer that no longer existed.Lucienne stepped forward, placing himself between Selena and the man in black armor. “State your name,” he ordered. “And explain why you carry my mate’s mark.” The stranger’s expression remained unreadable. “My name is Kael.” His gaze never left Selena. “The mark isn’t yours to question, Alpha. It belongs to fate.”“The Moon Goddess gives only one mate,” the priestess said, finally finding her voice. “This has never happened before.” Kael let out a quiet laugh. “Then perhaps everything you’ve been taught is incomplete.” His eyes swept across the hall before settling on the shattered altar. “The prophecy has be

“Protect the Alpha!” Darius barked, cutting down the first attacker who charged him. Steel rang through the hall as the celebration dissolved into blood and chaos. Guests scrambled for cover while the priestess clutched the broken altar, whispering frantic prayers beneath her breath.Lucienne pulled Selena behind him without thinking. The simple gesture didn’t go unnoticed. Seraphine watched from the floor, her nails digging into her palms until they bled. Moments ago she had been the future Luna of Bloodfang. Now the Alpha who was supposed to claim her was shielding the sister she had spent her life despising.A masked warrior drove his spear toward Selena, but Lucienne caught the shaft with his bare hand. His mark blazed crimson, snapping the weapon in two. The attacker staggered back in shock. “So the stories were true,” he muttered. “The Blood King has awakened.”The words struck Selena harder than the battle itself. Blood King? Her eyes darted to Lucienne, but he looked just as c
