Lila’s pov

I strained my eyes admist the darkness to see my company as I got on my feet for defense. I saw a male figure walk out from the dark shadows. I wanted to take a step backward but I stood my ground. As he came closer stepping into the moonlight, he became clearer to me. The tall figure standing before me, I scoffed mockingly. It was him, Aiden moon, my supposed company.

Lila’s pov I strained my eyes admist the darkness to see my company as I got on my feet for defense. I saw a male figure walk out from the dark shadows. I wanted to take a step backward but I stood my ground. As he came closer stepping into the moonlight, he became clearer to me. The tall figure standing before me, I scoffed mockingly. It was him, Aiden moon, my supposed company. “Shouldn’t have thrown that..My Patek watch, cost a fortune”. He rubbed his wrist as he bragged. What are you doing here?” He asked me. “I should be asking you that?…your dad is the host of this whole thing, what are you doing out here lurking in the shadows”. My mouth let out the words before I could stop them, folding my arms to rage bait. He scoffed, a humorless smirk crossing his face. “You do have a big mouth, nice try, what I meant to say is …why did you bother to come…? you’re not even a wolf”. His curious eyes lingered on my face but that question shut me up. I didn’t know what to say. He took

Lila’s pov “It’s the mating ceremony…” she told me looking at me in disbelief. “Don’t they do that where you come from?” She gestured with her eyes like pointing out to Saint town. “They do …it’s just, I’ve never been to one”. I tried not to look into her eyes. It was the truth. Since I hadn’t shifted yet, I had never attended a mating ceremony. I couldn't bear the thought of watching other wolves find their match while I just sat there like a spectator, no wolf, no mate. I had only heard stories about it, wishing I could be part of them but I had never experienced it firsthand. “That explains a lot.” She turned to leave again, but I reached out and caught her sleeve to hold her back. She shrugged her arm away angrily. “I’m sorry but... where is it happening?” I asked, trying to sound casual. “Thought you didn’t want to be there?” She asked me. “I won’t….I just want to know”. She looked at me with a suspicious gaze “Alpha Toran’s estate,” she said, rolling her eyes.

Aiden’s pov It was that time of the night. Guests were already trooping in. I paced the floor of my bedroom, my mind wrapped around how to figure out a way out of this nightmare. A sharp knock hit my door. "Yes?" I called out, keeping my voice smooth and trying to hide my panic. A maid stepped inside, bowing her head. "Young Master... your father is waiting for you downstairs. The Bath family will be arriving shortly." "Of course they will," I muttered under my breath. They wouldn't dream of missing an opportunity to bind me to their daughter. Having delivered her message, the maid remained frozen in place. I expected her to leave but she still stood her. I looked at her, wondering why she hadn't left, until I followed her gaze to the shattered ceramic vase lying on the floor. "It's fine. I'll take care of it," I said, dismissively. She bowed quickly and hurried out. I knew they were all waiting for me downstairs. I had to present myself not just to my father, but to the en

Chapter 8 Lila’s pov Home, at last. I felt at peace. I could have missed school today since I moved in last night but I just wanted to go out. Get some air, and now I’m back like I never left. In the comfort of my warm bedroom, I tossed my school bag onto the floor and collapsed onto the mattress, trying to pretend I didn’t have a single care in the world. But my mind wouldn't rest, it kept drifting back to that arrogant boy. "What did he say his name was again? Ah, yes... Aiden Moon," I muttered to myself. So, he really was the son of the great Alpha Toran. Yet, he didn't seem to share his father’s aura, the kind of presence that felt dark, overshadowing, and filled with dread and terror. Aiden just seemed shallow. Also a victim of his father’s dreadful nature. I shook my head, pushing the thought out of my mind, I got up lazily to head to the bathroom for a shower when the doorbell rang. I wondered who could possibly be visiting me. When I pulled the door open, a plump, short

Chapter 7 Aiden’s pov I stood there, replaying my failure in my head. She was one with a big mouth, my first attempt was a big flop. Not only did she resist, she flashed my weakness to my face. Reminding me of my dread for my dad. I never saw it coming.I still stood there. A light rain began to drizzle, and my driver immediately stepped forward, holding a black umbrella over my head. "Sir..." he murmured. I looked back toward the path she had taken, but she was long gone. This bet I had so foolishly accepted was going to be the end of me. I climbed into the back seat, and he drove me home in silence. Once I was safely behind the closed doors of my bedroom, I grabbed a lacrosse ball, throwing it hard against the wall and catching it on the rebound over and over again. The thought of the last moment with her came back to me as it washed over me. Gosh it was so embarrassing. I felt a stink in my flesh. No one had ever talked to me that way, least of all a girl. Usually, every gir

  • Not my spec   Chapter 6

Lila’s pov It was finally time to go home. I stood up, slinging my bag over my shoulder, but I wasn’t in a hurry, I lingered in a corner to watch the crowd stream out of the school building. It was as if I were invisible. No one noticed the new girl. It seemed like everyone had a friend, a partner, or someone to lean on, while I was entirely alone. But I didn't care. I had always been alone. I couldn't wait to get back to my soft bed. The apartment they had given me was small but cozy, and I loved the plush mattress. There were other teenagers living in the area, too, and even though I never spoke to them, I didn't really feel lonely. Finally, everyone was gone, enjoying the peace and quiet of the still afternoon air. I dragged my feet along the pavement, one hand tucked into my baggy shorts and the other gripping the strap of the school bag slung over my shoulder. From a distance, I noticed a figure standing near the gate. It looked masculine, like a male figure. As I drew close
