LOGINThe door swung open, almost breaking it out of it's position.
“Grandma,” She gasped, eyes blurring with tears. “Ivy” Grandma took slow but steady steps towards her before engulfing her in her embrace “Child” She sniffed. Ivy retreated from the embrace after a moment, forcing out a smile. “It's okay to cry Ivy, you can't be strong everytime,” “My parents.” Grandma froze. “What are you not telling me about them?” She asked. “What did you hear?” Her grandmother's fragile voice flew into her ears. “That's not what I asked?” She yelled making the old woman flinch slightly. “Ivy, you have to calm down. What happened to you?” “She's hiding it from you” “She knows the truth and refused to tell you” Those were the words that echoed in her ears as she took predatory steps towards her grandmother. “Your wolf” Grandma breathed out. “Yes my Wolf. She's out” Ivy smirked, coming closer to the the trembling woman. “Ivy, it's your wolf talking. This isn't you” “Well, you're wrong. I'm aware of what I'm doing” She spat. “Ivy!” Grandma yelled. The scream seemed to break Ivy out from a haze, her mind cleared instantly, eyes searching for her grandma. “Grandma” “Child” “I'm sorry, I… I” She sniffed as she hugged her grandmother. “It's alright, it's your wolf and you're not yet able to control her so we would start with that” Ivy nodded. “My parents?” She asked again. “Ivy” Grandma pleaded and Ivy looked away, swallowing the lump that was forming on her throat. “I'm sorry grandma” She breathed out. Grandma patted her head with a smile. “It's alright dear,” “You need to name your wolf” Grandma started and Ivy could hear her wolf purr on agreement. “I don't even know what it looks like,” “Envision her in your minds eye and she would present herself to you. You would get to see her by the next full moon” Grandma said. Ivy took a deep breath before she shut her eyes. She wanted a pitch black wolf with glowing red eyes. They were powerful, she had always wanted one since she was young. She heard a sound from her head, she didn't know if it was agreement or disapproval and then she appeared. Misty. That was the first word that came into Ivy's mind. A white wolf, that looked like she had just stepped out of snow, her fur glittered where the moon hit her and her eyes… streaks of blue skies, placed in a ball. “Beautiful” She breathed out and Misty walked up to her, running her fur against Ivy's legs. Ivy chuckled before patting her fur “Ivy!” She got pulled out of the maze. “Misty” She smiled and she heard Misty purr in agreement. “That's a pretty name,” Grandma smiled. “She's pretty” “She sure is” Ivy spent the next hours with her grandmother, making stew, eating lunch and just gossiping about the pack. “I've gotta go” Ivy stood up, dusting the imaginary dust off her jeans. “Ivy.” Grandma called and Ivy turned to her. “Have you considered accepting the rejection?” “I'm still considering” Ivy sighed before stepping out of the house. But as she walked towards the field, she got her answer. She was never going to accept the rejection. Zeke stood tall, bathed in the gold light as he ordered his soldiers around. His muscles packed on up a thin black tee flexed as he moved. He was currently sparring with another army general and he had threw the man to the sand multiple times. “You're drooling Luna,” Lucas appeared beside her and she smiled cheekily. “Who won't when facing this delicacy?” She teased. Lucas made to reply but she silenced him. “I'm sure that's the look you always wear when you stare at Tessa” She added. “Who said…” He stuttered. “No one said” She grinned at him before waking away. “Hey Stoneheart” As usual, her voice carried across the field making the men stop in their tracks. “Continue” Zeke barked. “What are you doing here Ivy?” He sighed, running his fingers over his hair. She stopped to stare before snapping out of it. “Checking on me?” He scoffed and she shrugged. “You've forgot what you did at the kitchen, go and help there, not cause a nuisance, that's what I said” He spat. “Really?” She raised an eyebrow “I'm the one that was causing a nuisance, she insulted my parents and me too. Your Mate” Ivy yelled. The field stood still, Lucas gaped. The soldiers silently retreated and Zeke's eyes burned into her with a fiery she couldn't ignore. “You're not my mate” He spat through gritted teeth. His jaw tightened, eyes narrowed as a string of pain shot through his hands, leaving a fiery blue line in its wake. “You felt that too right?” Ivy looked down at his hands and back to hers which mirrored the exact blue mark. “I don't care. You…” His words were caught shut by the new wave of pain. “The new mark says something else” Ivy took a step closer. “Ivy get out” “Why? Because you can't stand me witnessing your vulnerability when all you do is care for me” Ivy yelled at him. “You know nothing about me” “Then tell me, tell me you don't care about me” “I don't care about you” He grunted as he doubled over in pain. “Guess so” She scoffed, walking closer to you. “You looked quite handsome back in the field” She said, her hands roaming down his body. “Are you so desperate?”Zeke cursed under his breath. “Yes I am. You're my mate” “I'm not…” “Complete it Zeke. Say it” She taunted, looking into the dark obyss of his eyes. “Zeke?” She tilted her head, her voice coming out unexpectedly soft. “Yes?” It caught Zeke off guard. “Teach me how to fight. I want to learn how to take care of myself and you of course” She said. “No” He stormed off. “Stoneheart” She stumped her legs on the floor before running off with him. “Wait, Stoneheart” She cursed.Lucas and Tessa stayed at the park for sometime, catching up with everything that had been happening. The sky was becoming dark when Tessa decided to leave. She was supposed to have dinner with her parents and Petra, the first time Petra would be meeting her best friend. In Inver twenty years. Lucas walked her back to the heart of the pack and watched her head towards her parents house. He took in a deep breath and turned towards the alpha's chambers, heading towards Zeke's house. When he reached there, he placed a knock on the door and he heard Zeke's voice from inside the room. “Come in.” So he pushed the door open and stepped in. The first thing he noticed was the empty coffee cups laying on the table and his eyes caught Zeke and ivy, seated on the same sofa. His eyes twitched and he just stood, watching them, saying nothing. Zeke stared at him for a while, probably waiting for him to make any comment about what he saw, the way he would have done if he didn't have anything both
Lucas's eyes zoomed on Tessa who was sitting alone in the public garden, on a bench. He looked around but there was no sign of Ivy, he was hoping she was with Zeke as he didn't need any distractions. He exhaled slowly and took measured and careful steps towards her. Tessa raised her head to the sound of approaching footsteps. When she saw it was him, she picked up the packets of chocolates around her and stood up, Lucas watched her, quickening his steps. She took only two steps away before his hands clamped down on her wrist. She stilled at the contact and looked down at his hand but he didn't make any move to stay away. “Lucas.” Tessa called through gritted teeth, her eyes still burning into his hand on her wrist.Lucas remained silent but pulled her to the bench, sitting her on it. “Now, are you ready to talk?”Tessa scoffed, rolling her eyes. “There's nothing to talk about.” “There's a whole lot to talk about, I've been on the recieving side of this your newly formed attitude a
“Stoneheart.” She breathed out. “Hmm…?” Zeke leaned back in the chair, his hands crossed against his chest, his lips pulled into a smirk. They stayed like that for a moment, just staring at each other. The tension in the air thickened as their eyes clashed, with no one backing down. “Come here.” Zeke finally muttered, stretching out his hands to her. Ivy nodded and took in a deep breath before walking towards him. As she reached him, she placed her hands on his outstretched hands and just waited. Zeke looked down on her hands in his and stood up, leading her away from where he sat to the couch across the room. “Sit.” He instructed and she obeyed, falling in a trance under his dark eyes - like a deep dark abyss. He watched as she sank into the couch, obeying him and he smiled. He let go of her hands and she placed them on her thighs, watching him walk away. When he returned, he heard two cups of freshly processed milk and handed one over to her. Ivy accepted the cup and took a s
Zeke pushed the door to his chambers open and he stepped in. The room was dark, the curtains drawn together, the windows shut close. He leaned against the door, quick succession of breathes escaping his nostrils. His chest moved as he allowed himself breath. The darkness swallowed him whole but he didn't care. He just stood there . When he pushed himself off the door, he used his hands to feel his way to his table. He turned on the sunset lamp on his desk, illuminating his room with a soft yellow light. He dropped on his chair, taking a sip from the already cold coffee in his hand before setting the cup on the desk with a soft thud. He pushed himself back on the chair, a groan rumbling from his throat, memories he had kept buried down resurfacing like the rush of wind. Young Zeke had stood on the ruins of his parents home. He had gone to Lucas's house for a sleepover that night when he heard the screams. And then he felt the pain. When he successfully came out of the house, escap
By the next morning, the pack members had already guessed what was happening. Rumors had spread out faster than Zeke and Lucas would want it to. The elders had informed their families who in turn informed other families but there was no official statement yet. So the pack members waited to hear from the horse's mouth - Zeke. They didn't want to believe what they were hearing because it would only serve to remind them how foolish they were, allowing the murderer of their beloved alpha couple take over the alpha position. At dawn, Zeke was already up, not because of any tactical operation but because he needed to talk with Darius. To see him one more time before he left. To his surprise, almost all pack members were already up, waiting. They bowed when he walked past but he didn't give them anything, just that unfathomable expression of his. Lucas joined him at a point in his walk. They headed for Darius apartment, quietly, with nobody saying anything, just swimming in their thoughts
“This isn't over yet.” Darius said quietly, matter of factly.Zeke only gave a short nod and stepped away from him. “I didn't expect this from you, uncle.” He whispered back and turned towards the council. “Since I realized a whole lot of you have been blinded by my uncle's behaviour and the things he does, I've been holding back by a light string of thread into disabling this council…” Zeke was saying.“You can disable the council elders, they watch over the pack…”“And listen to you. Watch me disable them.” Zeke snorted and turned back to the elders who were watching him with fear in their eyes. “Like I was saying,” he continued. “I would only be giving one last chance to this council, the benefit of doubt and that would be all. You would use the voting boxes that had already been positioned here to vote me out, you would use it to vote Darius out. He has spent enough time in our pack house.” He said. “You can't chase me away from here, I'm royalty.” Darius stated in a loud voice.
Days passed after Ivy heard of Zeke's fever. She hadn't gone to bother him, keeping to herself. Tessa had noticed and asked about it but she had given a backhanded reply that was laying in the space between true and false. It was the last week of Darius' visit and he had arranged a pack dinner. The
Ivy was walking past Zeke's inner chamber, on her way to her grandmother's apartment when her feet paused. Her heart pounded against her chest as she drew closer to the locked door. Lucas's voice met her ears in a whisper but with a sharp tone. It was the sharpest she had ever heard him speak. She
The morning met Ivy already in the clinic, helping, adjusting, instructing. The pups woke up to meet her already there. Their faces lit up immediately and they all rushed towards her, calling her The Luna Lady. Her face grew stiff when she heard them but she wore a huge smile and attended to each a
The atmosphere in the room was stiff. Zeke sat at the center of the room, hands hovering over the documents laid out before him. The paper read - Reassignment of Duties. His fingers went up between his eyes to pinch the skin between his eyes. His eyes were downcast as he felt his wolf getting rest
