Chapter 1

Author: Mohini
The shock hit like a bullet, driving straight into my heart.

The woman in the photos was playful in some shots, seductive in others, pure and innocent in the next.

Every image seemed to smash through the boundaries Julian Vance had sworn he would never cross.

He had once promised in front of the media, with me standing behind the camera, "I only shoot commercial model work. If anyone wants intimate portraits, don't come to me. I have strict rules about that."

Yet the girl in front of me had offered herself to the photographer without the slightest reservation.

Every page was a slap across my face, loud enough to wake me from years of self-deception.

I slowly set the album down, as if someone had drained every bit of strength from my body.

When Julian pushed open the door, his mouth parted in surprise. A flicker of guilt crossed his eyes.

After a few seconds of silence, I broke the suffocating stillness first.

"Who is this girl?" My voice was terrifyingly calm.

In the dim room, he did not notice that my entire body was shaking.

He was calmer than I expected. "A client."

"When we first started from nothing, we would've starved if I hadn't taken extra jobs."

My eyes fell on the last photo in the album. The date was two days ago.

Two nights ago, rain had been pounding outside. I had burned with a fever so severe my head felt like it was splitting open. When I dragged myself out of bed, he was nowhere to be found.

His explanation had been light as air. "I was here the whole time. You must have been delirious from the fever, silly."

Maybe I really had been a complete fool.

Tears gathered in my eyes, and at last I asked the question that had been lodged in my heart for five years.

"You've never taken a single photo of me. Not one."

Whenever we traveled, other women's boyfriends took pretty pictures of them.

My husband was one of the world's top photographers, yet he would not even touch a camera for me.

"Photography is work. We're here to have fun."

Every time, I would force an awkward smile.

But the answer stayed stuck in my chest like a splinter, working its way deeper again and again.

I stared at him until his guilt had nowhere left to hide. Finally, he gathered enough courage to tell the truth.

"Vivian Blair gives me inspiration. That's all. Do you really want to keep asking?"

The darkroom was very quiet.

Quiet enough that only I could hear the sound of something inside me breaking.

Julian's phone suddenly rang, shattering the silence.

A woman's voice came through the speaker, determined and coy at the same time. "It's my birthday today. If you don't come, I'll find another photographer to shoot me. And I'm going to make it very intimate."

I could imagine the sweet voice belonging to the girl in those photos.

Julian panicked for a second, then grabbed his camera and left without looking back.

So fast that he forgot today was also my birthday.

I sat at the dining table and ate the cake alone.

Then I replied to the only message that had wished me a happy birthday.

"Can you help me make my birthday wish come true? I want a divorce."

"I tore it up."Julian looked at me with eyes full of unwillingness, as though he were the one who had been wronged the most."Stella, I can't divorce you over these things."We've been together for five years. You should know I love you. You should also know divorce is the one thing I can't do."He clenched his fists, blood still seeping from his entire arm.It seemed he could not believe I would truly divorce him. After all, on the day we married, we had personally vowed to stay together for a lifetime.Even death was not supposed to separate us.But his promises had been broken long ago. This fake marriage should have ended too.I remained as calm as ever."If you won't divorce me by agreement, I'll sue. I have a lawyer who can make sure I win."At that moment, Callum walked in carrying dinner.Julian turned to look at him, then questioned me in disbelief."This is the lawyer you were talking about?"Stella, what is your relationship with him? Are you divorcing me bec

Vivian covered her swollen cheek and stared at me in shock."You..."I slapped her again."Are you done talking?"You were the one who found those auction people, weren't you? You're a woman too. How could you do something like that?"Vivian only laughed arrogantly."Not all women are the same. I wanted to watch you get ruined, and then I wanted Julian to kick you out of the family."When I first saw her intimate photo collection, I had felt envy.My husband of five years would not take a single photo of me, but he was willing to break every boundary for her.But I soon discovered that once I no longer cared about Julian, I no longer cared about any photos either.I was even a little grateful that I had discovered his ugliness early.I took a deep breath."Then you got what you wanted."I'll sue Julian for divorce and give you the position of Mrs. Vance."Shock flashed in Vivian's eyes, followed by unconcealable delight."Really?"I nodded, then looked at Callum as he w

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying in a hospital bed.Callum Pierce, my childhood friend, sat beside the bed. When he saw me wake up, joy lit up his face."Stella."My whole body was still shaking violently. It felt as if I could still see those men touching me.Callum immediately held me as I lost control."It's all right. I've already sent them to prison."And I had those photos swapped out. Everything taken to the auction was edited fake material."Only then did my emotions settle slightly.I noticed more than a hundred messages on my phone, all from Julian. How laughable. He had caused my tragedy with his own hands, and now he wanted forgiveness?I blocked him directly. At that moment, every television in the hospital seemed to be infected with a virus and began playing the auction livestream.Apart from the fake photos of me, there were private photos of other girls too.I glanced at Callum. "You're a lawyer..."He understood at once and patted my arm."I've

Vivian, frightened senseless, kept shaking her head."I really don't know."I hired those men, but I don't know what they did with the photos. I really don't know where Stella is."The moment she finished, Julian kicked her in the shoulder. The woman he had once worshipped as his muse was actually this calculating. Now Stella Acker wanted to divorce him. Worse, she was missing. He did not even have a chance to explain.Julian smashed camera after camera and glared at Vivian."Get out. Don't ever let me see you again."Like a madman, he tore down, burned, and spat on every photo in the exhibition hall.He could not believe that he had ruined Stella because of a woman like this.Vivian crawled after him on her knees, sobbing so hard she could hardly breathe."I know I was wrong."Julian, if you don't keep supporting me, I might really be blacklisted."Can you bear to watch the woman you made famous get trampled by everyone?"Back then, Julian had met Vivian through a paid

Looking at the document being handed to him, Julian quickly pulled Vivian's hand away.He took it with apprehension. The first thing he saw was a divorce agreement."Divorce?"He suddenly remembered the time he had accidentally seen Stella reading a divorce agreement on her phone. She had reacted unnaturally and said it was only something a lawyer friend had asked her to review. Now it was obvious. It had been this agreement. The lawyer adjusted his glasses."Mr. Vance, Ms. Acker has also submitted evidence of your infidelity and is requesting a prompt divorce."From a professional standpoint, I suggest you sign the agreement. If this goes to court, it will only become more complicated."Julian nearly stumbled. The lawyer gave him a USB drive. It contained the evidence Stella had collected of his affair.Julian denied it immediately."I didn't cheat!"Where is she now? I need to ask her what exactly is going on. How dare she fool around with other men behind my back?"The

The man in Julian's grip trembled all over and stammered."A woman named Stella Acker. Her private photos are being auctioned tonight at an underground event. This is the warm-up livestream..."At the sound of my name, Julian's brow tightened, as if his heart had skipped."What?!"He snatched the phone away. Sure enough, every image on the screen was a private photo of Stella."How is that possible? I took all the cameras. How could anything leak online?"Where is the auction? Tell me!"The two men were clearly only spectators. They shook their heads again and again."We heard the location won't be announced until seven tonight. The venue is random."Julian could only grit his teeth and warn them."If I find out either of you went, I'll make you regret it."When he loosened his grip, the two men fled in panic.Only then did Julian clearly see that the livestream photos showed me being assaulted by men.It was not just a simple leak.He had no time to think. He was about t
