INICIAR SESIÓNDOMINIC'S POV
“The VIP section you reserved is currently occupied, and there is no vacant section,” the hostess walking behind me hurriedly explains.
I know I came out of the blue, without my usual reservation. But I didn't prepare for no room at all.
I kept walking, remnants of annoyance starting to resurface. I have never wasted my time on something as much as I did today.
What a foolish man, thinking he can chase clout by inviting every single investor currently in New York.
Although not everyone was present, that doesn't change the fact that I, of all people, was here.
I snap out of my thoughts the moment my eyes make contact with a blue, piercing gaze.
Isn't that the lady from earlier, the one who broke the engagement just now?
Now she is sitting here, drunk?
Interesting.
I waved at the hostess, signaling that I would be fine and needed to be left alone.
I walked closer, her vacant stare finally registering my presence. She glared in annoyance, saying nothing.
She just picked up the half-empty bottle, downing it in one go. She is almost done with a bottle of whiskey; that's quite risky.
Something about her glare and face looked familiar. Like the person today is all about—the person I have been trying to forget and move on from for four years.
Although hers was hazel, not blue like this vixen in my presence.
I walked closer, sitting beside her. She groaned drunkenly as she downed another glass.
“I think you got the wrong table,” her voice was surprisingly clear for someone who looks this drunk.
“I think I am at the right table,” I replied, watching her with amusement.
“Oh, so you are one of those men who are looking for a rich woman to fuck for the night,” she replied, her voice softening as she turned her full body toward me.
I wanted to retort, but my words got stuck as my eyes caught a trail of sweat moving down her neck to between her breasts.
“Don't worry; you are at the right table.” I couldn't say anything, my eyes glued to the mini tattoo in her cleavage.
And her breasts, of course.
I couldn't say anything for a second. Not because of her invitation.
Because of the tattoo.
A small crescent moon inked just below her collarbone.
Selena used to draw moons everywhere. On napkins. On notebooks.
On my damn contracts when she thought I wasn't paying attention.
My jaw tightened.
The woman in front of me wasn't Selena; she wasn't even related to her. I mean, Selena never had a sibling.
Yet every few minutes she did something that made my chest feel uncomfortably tight.
"You're staring." Her voice dragged me back.
I blinked, realizing she was now looking at me with poorly concealed amusement.
"I've been told I have that effect on men," she replied coquettishly.
A snort escaped me before I could stop it. Her eyes widened; apparently, she hadn't expected a reaction.
Neither had I. My lip twitched slightly with amusement.
"You're drunk," I murmured, moving closer; her perfume wrapped around me—something between musk, vanilla, and maybe coconut.
"Very observant," she raised her glass.
"That's usually what happens after finishing half a bottle of whiskey."
I glanced at the bottle.
Half?
It was almost empty. "You should stop drinking."
She stared at me briefly, then she laughed.
A real laugh this time—soft and really feminine.
"And you should mind your business," she said in-between laughter.
My heart eased slightly, leaning back to watch her laugh. Which was surprising to me; I can't believe I have the luxury currently, yet somehow I still found myself watching her.
Watching the stubborn lift of her chin. The sadness hiding behind her sarcasm. The way she kept smiling like she was holding herself together through sheer force of will.
I recognize that anytime—maybe it is because I see myself in her that didn't let me pull away from her.
I kept watching her, rambling on and on about convincing me to spend the night with her.
“With a pretty face like this, you will definitely give pretty children.”
I paused, squinting slightly.
Was she actually drunk?
Most drunk people slurred their words.
She sounded perfectly coherent.
Well… coherent enough.
"That's a terrible reason to sleep with someone," she gasped dramatically.
"It is not."
"It absolutely is."
She pointed at me with her glass.
"See? That's your problem."
"My problem?"
"You're too serious."
A laugh escaped her before she could stop it.
I found myself staring again. Not at the tattoo this time.
But at her.
At the way her eyes sparkled despite the sadness lurking underneath.
At the way she kept talking, as though silence was something she feared.
I knew that feeling better than most, but I usually don't have a platform to rant.
"You don't even know me," I said.
"Do I need to?" She moved closer again, like she wasn't close enough before.
"Usually."
She hummed, thinking, most likely considering that, then shrugged.
"Fine."
She extended her hand toward me.
"My name is Aria."
I looked down at her hand, then at her face.
Aria.
The name suited her.
"Dominic."
For some reason, hearing my own name from her lips felt strange.
Aria smiled, the kind that transformed her entire face. But not into something sweet or delicate; something dangerous lurked behind that mischievous grin.
Because for the first time in four years, I wasn't thinking about Selena.
I was thinking about the woman sitting beside me.
The realization hit me like a punch to the chest.
Aria shifted closer.
Not much.
Just enough for her shoulder to brush mine. I could feel her breath fanning my face softly; neither of us moved at the proximity.
The noise of the club faded into the background.
Her gaze dropped briefly to my mouth.
Then returned to my eyes.
The air between us suddenly felt too warm, like both our bodies are generating more heat. For one suspended moment, neither of us spoke.
Then, without warning, she leaned forward. I didn't even stop her; I didn't plan to.
I guess it's time to move on from Selena’s death.
DOMINIC'S POVSelena! Her ghost still haunts me, whoever dug up her old picture has to have a game in mind, attempting to derail my plans or stir my memory. And I hate that they succeeded.I'm standing here in the courtroom, out of necessity because I couldn't go back on my words about protecting Aria. The courthouse was smaller than I expected, all beige walls and fluorescent lighting, nothing like the extravagant affair my mother would have insisted on if she'd known the truth of what this actually was, no one can know what this actually is.I stood near the window, watching the parking lot below, still turning that photograph over in my mind despite every effort to set it aside. Jorah had found nothing further overnight. Just Silence because the person knows exactly what they are doing.I forced it down. Today wasn't the day to chase ghosts. The door opened, and Aria stepped in with Claire beside her, dressed simply, a pale blue dress instead of white, nothing about the moment rese
DOMINIC'S POVIt took me a while to register what she had just said. Something is wrong with the baby?I stare down at her wide eyed, feeling stupid at how helpless and Inexperienced I feel right now.Panic rise and fell in my chest at the thought of how true what she is saying might be."Hold on," I said, though the words felt useless even as I spoke them, utterly inadequate against whatever fear had flooded her face. "We're almost there."Her hand found mine weakly, fingers cold, gripping with a strength that belied how fragile she looked pressed against my chest. "Dominic…" she said frayly."I'm here." I tightened my hold on her, forcing my voice steady despite the fear clawing up my own throat now, matching hers. "I'm not letting anything happen. Not to you. Not to the baby."The car screeched to a stop outside the emergency entrance before she could respond further, and I was moving before the driver had even fully braked, carrying her out into the harsh fluorescent glare of the
ARIA'S POVThe lobby was already in chaos by the time we arrived, a cluster of employees gathered near the reception desk, voices raised, phones out, the air thick with tension I could feel the moment the elevator doors opened.Dominic stepped out first, and the effect was immediate, conversations dying mid-sentence, heads turning, the crowd parting slightly as though some instinct told them to make room without needing to be asked.I followed behind him, forcing my spine straight despite the way my legs still trembled faintly beneath me, despite the ginger tea sitting uneasily in my stomach."Miss Cole." Someone near the front, one of the mid-level managers I recognized but couldn't immediately name, stepped forward. "We need answers. Now. People are saying you've been lying to the board. That the pregnancy, the scandal….""I understand you're frightened," I said, projecting my voice as steadily as I could manage. "I understand rumors have been spreading faster than facts. So let me a
ARIA'S POVMorning sickness is one thing I hate since it's onset. I woke to my stomach revolting before my mind had even caught up with consciousness.I barely made it to the bathroom in time, collapsing to my knees in front of the toilet as my body heaved violently, emptying what little remained from the night before. Tears stung my eyes, part nausea, part exhaustion, part the lingering weight of everything the headline had dredged up hours earlier. A sob broke out of me almost immediately."Aria?" Claire's voice, groggy with sleep, followed by quick footsteps. She appeared in the doorway a moment later, wincing sympathetically at the sight of me. "Oh, baby.""I'm fine," I said almost immediately, though the words came out weak, unconvincing even to my own ears. She crouched beside me, gathering my hair back with gentle hands, rubbing slow circles against my back while another wave rolled through me. "This is the worst morning sickness you've had yet.""Stress," I muttered, wiping my
ARIA'S POVThe knock came sometime after midnight, sharp and frantic, dragging me up out of a sleep so shallow I'd barely settled into it."Aria!" Claire's voice, muffled through the door, edged with panic. "Aria, wake up. You need to see this."I fumbled upright, heart already racing before I'd even processed why, my hand instinctively going to my stomach the way it always did now whenever fear spiked too fast to control.Claire burst in without waiting for an answer, phone already in her outstretched hand, screen glowing bright in the darkened room."What…." I started."Just look."I took the phone, squinting against the sudden light, and felt my stomach drop straight through the mattress.A headline, stark and merciless, glaring up at me from some gossip site I didn't recognize but that had clearly already gone viral.COLE HEIRESS TRAPS BILLIONAIRE WITH LOVE CHILD — SOURCES CLAIM SCANDALOUS AFFAIR BEGAN WEEKS BEFORE ENGAGEMENT ENDEDI scrolled further, my hands trembling harder wit
DOMINIC'S POV"When are we getting married?" she asked suddenly, her question caught me off guard, though I recovered quickly enough that she likely couldn't tell if I was hesitating or deliberating before I answered."Soon," I said. "The sooner this is official, the sooner Ryan loses whatever leverage he thinks he still has. And I need to be able to stabilize before fully replacing the faulty roots in the company." She explained. I nodded gently; it's understandable. We stepped out into the parking garage, her driver already waiting by the car, engine idling. I glanced at him, then back at Aria."I'll drive you," I said. She blinked. "No…" she answered sharply. "I mean you don't have to…" she started explaining."I'm aware." I turned to her driver before she could argue further. "Take the car back to the office. I'll see her home myself."The man glanced at Aria, waiting for her confirmation before he'd actually listen to me, which I found oddly reasonable given everything she'd been
ARIA’S POV I can't find him anywhere. I've searched the entire mansion, through the grand halls, the glittering ballroom, even the gardens where fairy lights twinkled like false promises. Now I'm heading to the third floor, my heels sinking into the thick carpets that line these quieter corridors
ARIA’S POVI wish I had been sober enough yesterday. I desperately want to remember every detail of what caused my body to ache this much — especially the delicious soreness between my legs.Every shift of my thighs sent a reminder of last night. Of strong hands, a deep voice murmuring my name, and
DOMINIC’S POVAria stood before me in nothing but lace panties and heels, her skin glowing under the low golden light. The private suite was quiet except for our breathing, plush bed, heavy curtains, the distant thump of club music like a heartbeat.“Still think you came to the wrong table?” she w
DOMINIC’S POVShe broke the kiss almost immediately—brief and teasing. The taste of her lingered on my tongue, sour like the whiskey she'd both been drinking. I wanted to pull her back in, to finish the fire she started, but that mischievous smile stopped me cold. She knew exactly what she was doi
