INICIAR SESIÓNARIA’S POV
Silence swallowed the entire hall. For a heartbeat, no one moved.
Not even Ryan.
The words hung in the air like a guillotine.
Then just like that, the words traveled through the room twice before they could register in people’s brains. Whispers erupted—first confusion, then shock, then eager hunger.
Rich people thrived on drama, and I'd just served them a feast.
Ryan blinked slowly, as if he hadn’t heard me correctly.
"Aria," Ryan said carefully, stepping closer. A warning laced my name. "What are you doing?"
I turned to face him fully. For the first time tonight—maybe the first time ever—I saw him clearly. Not the polished version I'd built in my head, but the restless, plastic-smiling ass-kisser he truly was.
My skin crawled at the thought of nearly marrying him.
"I'm saving you time," I replied calmly, forcing a smile that didn't reach my eyes.
A ripple of reactions swept the crowd. Influencers and guests whipped out phones, capturing every second. Ryan's secret guest list had backfired spectacularly.
I had specifically warned him against going public. I guess he will love the attention now.
"We'll talk about this later," he hissed, voice low.
"There's nothing to talk about." I walked around him, heart pounding but voice steady.
"Don't do this here," he growled, jaw tight. My lips curved slightly, my eyes glittering with mischief.
"Here is exactly where it belongs." Another wave of gasps. He moved closer to grab my wrist, confusion very evident in his eyes. I moved aside, I lifted my gaze, met his eyes. "I hope you had a good time with your mistress."
I pointedly stared at Vanessa, who stood frozen in the corner, her yellow dress suddenly looking cheap under the lights. Ryan's face paled. He understood.
I descended the stage steps with my head high. The crowd parted like the Red Sea, taking pictures as moved through the hall. I guess I made such a big name for myself today.
I called my driver on the way out, my hands shaking so badly I nearly dropped the phone.
Outside, the cool night air hit me. The driver held the door open. "Take me to a club... any club," I murmured, sliding into the backseat.
I shut my eyes, letting out a deep breath, finally releasing all the tension.
My body vibrated as the adrenaline coursing through my veins crashed.
As the car pulled away, I wound down the window and counted my breaths, fighting the panic attack clawing at my throat. Adrenaline crashed through me in waves.
A few hours ago, I'd been dreaming of wedding venues. Now everything lay in ruins.
By the time we reached the club, the shaking had eased into numb exhaustion. I stepped out on unsteady legs. I needed noise. Chaos. Anything to drown out Ryan's voice in my head.
The bouncers ushered me into the VIP section—every area here screamed exclusivity, but I craved anonymity among fellow broken rich people. The hostess led me down a dimly lit hallway to a secluded booth.
"Will this do, ma'am?"
It was perfect. Far from the main dance floor but close enough for the bass to vibrate through my bones. "Yes," I said softly.
Alone, the smile I'd forced all night crumbled. I collapsed onto the plush couch, staring at the marble table. A hysterical laugh bubbled up. My therapist would have a field day.
"Whiskey," I told the waiter when he appeared.
"The strongest one."
The waiter blinked.
"Ma'am?"
"The strongest one you have."
He hesitated. I raised an eyebrow, shifting uncomfortably at his judging gaze.
He disappeared immediately. A few minutes later, a bottle appeared on the table.
I poured glass after glass. By the fourth, Ryan's face blurred.
By the fifth, I had convinced myself that I hated him.
By the sixth, I almost believed it. Because the truth was far more embarrassing.
I loved him.
Or at least, I loved the version of him that never existed.
I had loved the illusion, the safety he represented. My throat tightened with unshed tears.
"Nope," I muttered, pointing at myself. "We are not crying tonight."
A nearby businessman glanced in my direction. I glared at him. He looked away immediately. That is much better; he knows what is good for him.
I wasn't in the mood to explain my emotional breakdown to strangers. I poured another drink.
The room began tilting slightly. I might be drunk a tiny bit, but not enough to make me stop.
But enough to make bad decisions sound reasonable.
Suddenly, the atmosphere of the VIP section became more stuffy; the employees started fidgeting, and the conversation around us lowered a little bit.
I wondered who had entered. The only thing I noticed was the strange feeling of being watched.
I hoped it wasn't Ryan, but it couldn't be him; he wasn't that swift to get information about my whereabouts.
Slowly, I lifted my head.
And met a pair of cold gray eyes staring directly at me.
I glared in annoyance as she stared at me with amusement, that's a big contrast to his entire facial structure. He looks like someone who barely smiles or is barely amused by anything.
An air of arrogance wrapped around him tightly.
I huffed silently, I picked up my half empty whiskey, downing it in a go.
Instead of backing off as I glared at him, he walked closer.
Seems he is nosy and also love challenge.
And at this point, challenge might be the best bad decisions I can take this night.
He sat beside me, his weight sinking into the chair heavily.
“I think you got the wrong table” I warned, although I am love watching boys shamelessly dance for money on social media, I am not ready to fully sponsor one.
“I think I am at the right table” his voice dripping with amusement he doesn't not much to hide.
He is confident for a call boy, I will give him that.
Maybe a risky one night stand after you just got cheated on won't be bad after all.
I can use him to pass the night.
DOMINIC'S POVSelena! Her ghost still haunts me, whoever dug up her old picture has to have a game in mind, attempting to derail my plans or stir my memory. And I hate that they succeeded.I'm standing here in the courtroom, out of necessity because I couldn't go back on my words about protecting Aria. The courthouse was smaller than I expected, all beige walls and fluorescent lighting, nothing like the extravagant affair my mother would have insisted on if she'd known the truth of what this actually was, no one can know what this actually is.I stood near the window, watching the parking lot below, still turning that photograph over in my mind despite every effort to set it aside. Jorah had found nothing further overnight. Just Silence because the person knows exactly what they are doing.I forced it down. Today wasn't the day to chase ghosts. The door opened, and Aria stepped in with Claire beside her, dressed simply, a pale blue dress instead of white, nothing about the moment rese
DOMINIC'S POVIt took me a while to register what she had just said. Something is wrong with the baby?I stare down at her wide eyed, feeling stupid at how helpless and Inexperienced I feel right now.Panic rise and fell in my chest at the thought of how true what she is saying might be."Hold on," I said, though the words felt useless even as I spoke them, utterly inadequate against whatever fear had flooded her face. "We're almost there."Her hand found mine weakly, fingers cold, gripping with a strength that belied how fragile she looked pressed against my chest. "Dominic…" she said frayly."I'm here." I tightened my hold on her, forcing my voice steady despite the fear clawing up my own throat now, matching hers. "I'm not letting anything happen. Not to you. Not to the baby."The car screeched to a stop outside the emergency entrance before she could respond further, and I was moving before the driver had even fully braked, carrying her out into the harsh fluorescent glare of the
ARIA'S POVThe lobby was already in chaos by the time we arrived, a cluster of employees gathered near the reception desk, voices raised, phones out, the air thick with tension I could feel the moment the elevator doors opened.Dominic stepped out first, and the effect was immediate, conversations dying mid-sentence, heads turning, the crowd parting slightly as though some instinct told them to make room without needing to be asked.I followed behind him, forcing my spine straight despite the way my legs still trembled faintly beneath me, despite the ginger tea sitting uneasily in my stomach."Miss Cole." Someone near the front, one of the mid-level managers I recognized but couldn't immediately name, stepped forward. "We need answers. Now. People are saying you've been lying to the board. That the pregnancy, the scandal….""I understand you're frightened," I said, projecting my voice as steadily as I could manage. "I understand rumors have been spreading faster than facts. So let me a
ARIA'S POVMorning sickness is one thing I hate since it's onset. I woke to my stomach revolting before my mind had even caught up with consciousness.I barely made it to the bathroom in time, collapsing to my knees in front of the toilet as my body heaved violently, emptying what little remained from the night before. Tears stung my eyes, part nausea, part exhaustion, part the lingering weight of everything the headline had dredged up hours earlier. A sob broke out of me almost immediately."Aria?" Claire's voice, groggy with sleep, followed by quick footsteps. She appeared in the doorway a moment later, wincing sympathetically at the sight of me. "Oh, baby.""I'm fine," I said almost immediately, though the words came out weak, unconvincing even to my own ears. She crouched beside me, gathering my hair back with gentle hands, rubbing slow circles against my back while another wave rolled through me. "This is the worst morning sickness you've had yet.""Stress," I muttered, wiping my
ARIA'S POVThe knock came sometime after midnight, sharp and frantic, dragging me up out of a sleep so shallow I'd barely settled into it."Aria!" Claire's voice, muffled through the door, edged with panic. "Aria, wake up. You need to see this."I fumbled upright, heart already racing before I'd even processed why, my hand instinctively going to my stomach the way it always did now whenever fear spiked too fast to control.Claire burst in without waiting for an answer, phone already in her outstretched hand, screen glowing bright in the darkened room."What…." I started."Just look."I took the phone, squinting against the sudden light, and felt my stomach drop straight through the mattress.A headline, stark and merciless, glaring up at me from some gossip site I didn't recognize but that had clearly already gone viral.COLE HEIRESS TRAPS BILLIONAIRE WITH LOVE CHILD — SOURCES CLAIM SCANDALOUS AFFAIR BEGAN WEEKS BEFORE ENGAGEMENT ENDEDI scrolled further, my hands trembling harder wit
DOMINIC'S POV"When are we getting married?" she asked suddenly, her question caught me off guard, though I recovered quickly enough that she likely couldn't tell if I was hesitating or deliberating before I answered."Soon," I said. "The sooner this is official, the sooner Ryan loses whatever leverage he thinks he still has. And I need to be able to stabilize before fully replacing the faulty roots in the company." She explained. I nodded gently; it's understandable. We stepped out into the parking garage, her driver already waiting by the car, engine idling. I glanced at him, then back at Aria."I'll drive you," I said. She blinked. "No…" she answered sharply. "I mean you don't have to…" she started explaining."I'm aware." I turned to her driver before she could argue further. "Take the car back to the office. I'll see her home myself."The man glanced at Aria, waiting for her confirmation before he'd actually listen to me, which I found oddly reasonable given everything she'd been
ARIA’S POV I can't find him anywhere. I've searched the entire mansion, through the grand halls, the glittering ballroom, even the gardens where fairy lights twinkled like false promises. Now I'm heading to the third floor, my heels sinking into the thick carpets that line these quieter corridors
ARIA’S POVI wish I had been sober enough yesterday. I desperately want to remember every detail of what caused my body to ache this much — especially the delicious soreness between my legs.Every shift of my thighs sent a reminder of last night. Of strong hands, a deep voice murmuring my name, and
DOMINIC’S POVShe broke the kiss almost immediately—brief and teasing. The taste of her lingered on my tongue, sour like the whiskey she'd both been drinking. I wanted to pull her back in, to finish the fire she started, but that mischievous smile stopped me cold. She knew exactly what she was doi
DOMINIC'S POV“The VIP section you reserved is currently occupied, and there is no vacant section,” the hostess walking behind me hurriedly explains.I know I came out of the blue, without my usual reservation.
