LEVI'S POV

The sharp crack of our training sticks echoed through the palace courtyard as Theo and I continued sparring.

The morning sun beat down on us, but neither of us slowed. Sweat trickled down the side of my face and clung to my skin beneath my training clothes, making it cling uncomfortably to my back.

Every muscle in my body burned from the relentless pace we'd kept for the better part of an hour, and we hadn't taken it easy on the other.

LEVI'S POVThe sharp crack of our training sticks echoed through the palace courtyard as Theo and I continued sparring. The morning sun beat down on us, but neither of us slowed. Sweat trickled down the side of my face and clung to my skin beneath my training clothes, making it cling uncomfortably to my back.Every muscle in my body burned from the relentless pace we'd kept for the better part of an hour, and we hadn't taken it easy on the other.Theo swung toward my shoulder, and I blocked it before immediately countering with a quick strike aimed at his side. He twisted away just in time, bringing his own stick around to force me back.We had trained together for years, and it showed in the way we moved. Every attack was met with an equally quick defense, and every opening disappeared almost as soon as it appeared.Theo stepped in again, his stick cutting through the air toward me. I caught it, shoved it away, and struck back before he could recover. The impact forced him back a ste

LEVI'S POVThe entire situation had only grown worse. That one interview had now become the only thing anyone seemed capable of talking about.Every news station, every newspaper, every social media platform was flooded with debates about the truth serum. Some people insisted Dagon was manipulating everyone, while others demanded that I honor his request if I truly had nothing to hide. The pressure mounted by the hour, closing in from every direction until it felt impossible to escape.I couldn't go anywhere without hearing about it.I couldn't open my phone without seeing thousands of opinions.I couldn't even turn on the television without another panel discussing whether I should publicly take the damn serum. It was suffocating.Seated in the lounge, Brooks and I had eventually given up trying to search for channels that were not discussing the matter at hand, and settled on a random television show instead. It wasn't particularly interesting, but at least it wasn't another debate

LEVI'S POVI stood in front of the full-length mirror in my room, studying my reflection as I adjusted the collar of my shirt for what had to be the fifth time that morning. After smoothing the collar down, I tugged lightly at my jacket, straightened my cuffs, and brushed an imaginary crease from the front of my clothes.Today was the day of the interview debate with Dagon. The soft rustle of bedsheets behind me broke through my thoughts, and before I could turn around, I caught Brooks' reflection in the mirror as she climbed off the bed and walked toward me.She stopped in front of me without saying anything immediately, her eyes carefully studying my face as though she could see through every layer of composure I had spent the morning building. "Hey. You'll be fine as long as you're honest. You shouldn't be this worried."I kept my attention on the mirror, refusing to acknowledge how accurately she'd read me."I'm not worried."A quiet laugh escaped her as she folded her arms ac

LEVI'S POVOver the next couple of days, the paranoia only got worse. No matter what I was doing, my mind always found its way back to the same terrifying thought. What if Brooks found out?The question followed me everywhere. It lingered at the back of my mind every second of the day, interrupted my work whenever I tried to focus, and stole whatever little peace I managed to find.Every possible outcome played over and over in my head until I could no longer tell which fears were reasonable and which ones I'd created myself.I kept wondering what she'd say. What she'd think of me. Whether she'd ever be able to look at me the same way again. The more I thought about it, the more possibilities my mind invented, and every single one ended with losing her.By the time a few days had passed, I felt like I was constantly looking over my shoulder, waiting for the moment everything I'd fought so hard to keep buried finally came crashing down.Theo sat across from me in the study, watching me

LEVI'S POVThe interview continued for only a few more seconds before the station cut back to the newscaster.I didn't wait to hear another word. I shoved my chair back so abruptly that it scraped loudly against the floor as I shot to my feet, my pulse pounding so violently that it drowned out every other sound in the room.Without wasting another second, I turned off the TV and reached for my phone, my thumb flying across the screen as I called Theo. He answered before the first ring had barely finished."Theo, listen to me," I snapped, my heart hammering against my ribs as I fought to keep the frantic edge out of my voice."I need you to deploy men to the media house immediately to get that Dagon."There wasn't a moment's hesitation from Theo."I'm on it."The call ended, but it did nothing to quiet the storm raging inside my head. My thoughts refused to slow down, each one crashing into the next as I desperately tried to calculate the damage that had just been done. How?How had he

BROOK'S POVIt had been a couple of weeks since the old man had appeared at the palace, placed the pendant in my hands, and died almost immediately afterward. For days, it had been all anyone could talk about. Every news outlet had broadcasted the incident, social media had been flooded with theories and speculation, and people seemed determined to come up with an explanation for something none of them had actually witnessed.Eventually, like every other sensational story, the excitement faded. The endless discussions disappeared, people found something else to occupy their attention, and life gradually returned to normal. The palace no longer felt like it was under constant scrutiny, and for the first time in weeks, there was a sense of quiet that had been missing ever since the old man arrived.Part of me wanted to let the whole thing go too.Levi had done everything he could to reassure me. Every time I brought up the pendant or the White Wolves, he kept on reminding me not to let

BROOKS POV The palace was very grand. That was the first thing that hit me the moment we stepped in, and it didn’t ease even after hours of being there. Everything was big, polished, and perfect. The floors gleamed like they had never seen dirt, the walls stretched higher than anything, and every

LEVIFor years, I've dreamt of seeing Brooks again but nothing could have prepared me for the way my heart ached, my throat tightened, and my hands shook. I was practically an alpha king. LEVI HAWTHORNE Seven years later. I've always known Brooks Beauregard was my mate. I knew it from the first day she resumed at **** when her scent hit my nostrils and my whole body became enveloped with a want so visceral that I had to excuse myself from the classroom to take a cold shower.
