LOGINTricia's POV
For a moment, I forgot how to breathe.
This had to be some kind of twisted prank.
My lips parted, ready to say something, anything, but before I could form a word, the room erupted into loud cheers.
"The Alpha has spoken!"
"She's perfect for him!"
"Now that's a true Alpha pair!"
I stood there, frozen, my heart pounding so loudly I could barely hear my own thoughts.
Then a voice cut through the noise.
"What of your current Luna, Alpha Mercer?" someone asked. "The bond hasn't been formally dissolved."Maxwell didn't hesitate.
"The Moon Goddess herself wouldn't curse me with a Luna who would weaken my bloodline with her inability to even run with the pack and bear me pups”
Laughter exploded across the room as my ears rang.
"Look at her," he continued, gesturing casually in my direction like I wasn't even human.
"Then look at Laura. Does she look like an Alpha's Luna? She can't shift properly, can't run, can't keep up. She looks more like a burden than a mate."
"The formal rejection has already been prepared," he added smoothly. "And my bonding ceremony with Laura is being planned. We'll be properly mated before she reaches her third trimester."
The third trimester meant pregnancy.
My gaze snapped to Laura's stomach, where there was the faintest curve, almost unnoticeable, but suddenly impossible to ignore.
"I don't… don't understand," I said, my voice struggling to come out. "What's going on here?"
My mother-in-law scoffed loudly.
"How would you understand?" she said sharply. "When all that weight has clearly slowed everything down, including your mind."
The crowd burst into laughter again.
"Mom…" My voice came out weak, but I forced it steady. "You knew about this?"
She didn't even flinch.
"You allowed your son to claim a mate while he's still bonded to me?" My chest rose and fell unevenly. "How could you?"
Before she could respond, a sharp sting exploded across my face, and my head snapped to the side, my body swaying from the force.
"Maxwell…" My voice trembled. "Did you just raise your hand on me?"
His expression didn't change.
"And I would do it a million times over. How dare you speak to my mother like that?" he said coldly.
"Yes, I claimed a mate," he continued without a trace of guilt. "Not just any she-wolf but a strong, pure-blooded she-wolf. What are you going to do about it?"
His eyes swept over me again, filled with open disgust.
"Or is it until I formally reject you before you finally realize how much you've been holding me back in this bond?"
Hot tears slid down my cheeks, but I didn't wipe them.
"I've been a good Luna to you," I said, my voice breaking despite my effort to hold it together. "I sacrificed everything for this pack. I manage the pack house, I host your allies, I support your council, I help with your negotiations, I—"
"Oh, shut it," he snapped. "If you weren't so weak and shapeless, maybe you would have found something useful to contribute. All these things you mentioned, aren't they Luna's basic duties? Am I supposed to do them for you?"
My lips trembled.
"I'm not—"
"I have never loved you, Tricia," he cut in, his tone final. "You have no pack, no name. You were convenient, and I gave you a title. Don't mistake that for love."
"The rejection papers have already been drawn up. I don't want you anymore."
"If you know what's good for you," he added, his voice dropping lower and colder, "you'll go upstairs, pack your things, and leave the pack house quietly."
He paused, then delivered the final blow.
"Laura is moving in tomorrow morning."
Something in me snapped.
"YOU LIE!"
My voice tore out of me, shaking but loud enough to silence the room.
"I will never leave my matrimonial home for a strange she-wolf. You swore a bond before the Moon Goddess, and you are going to honor it. You are mine, and I will not stand here and watch another woman take you from me."
Maxwell stared at me for a second before he burst into laughter.
"I have never loved you," he said again, like it meant nothing.
"The signs were obvious, you just chose to ignore them. There has never been anything good about this bond. It's been a burden from day one. I've only been tolerating you."
My knees gave out beneath me as I collapsed to the floor.
"Please…" My voice broke completely as I looked up at him through blurred vision.
"Don't do this to me, Maxwell. You know I love you. It's not my fault that I'm like this. I swear I'm trying."
"I don't mind training every single day, pushing myself past every limit, just to be the Luna you need. Please… don't leave me."
He was about to respond when Laura spoke for the first time that night.
"Alpha…" her voice came soft and fragile.
"Can we go upstairs? I'm starting to feel dizzy… because of the baby."Everything about Maxwell changed instantly.
He rushed to her side without hesitation, bending toward her as if nothing else in the room existed.
"Careful," he murmured, lifting her into his arms like she was something precious.
"Everyone, please continue," he added, already turning away. "Enjoy the evening."
He carried her toward the stairs, holding her close.
Then, just as they reached the foot of the staircase, Laura tilted her head slightly and looked back at me, her gaze calm and anything but innocent.
"Baby," she said softly, "can you ask your oversized ex-Luna to get me fresh coconut water from the pack store? Your baby needs it."
Seraphina’s POVThe news hit like a slap across my face as I stood in the middle of our bedroom with my phone in my hand scrolling through headline after headline. My stomach twisted tighter with every swipe that I wished I hadn’t checked my phone. The first headline made my stomach twist.“Questions Raised Over Lycan King’s Influence in Crestwood.”The second was even worse.“Critics Demand Review of Princess Seraphina’s Leadership.”By the time I checked the third article, my hands were trembling so badly that I nearly dropped my phone.Every news channel seemed to be saying the same thing in different words. Some questioned whether I could truly serve Crestwood while mated to the Lycan King while others hinted that Caspian’s growing involvement in the pack would eventually overshadow my leadership.I dropped my phone on the bed, “How dare they,” I whispered as the rage burned hot in my throat. They were calling my mate a parasite, spitting on everything we had built together.Cas
Laura’s POVI drove to the prison gates with my heart beating fast as my father had finally been released this morning. I had waited so long for this day. When I saw him walk out, my stomach dropped. He looked nothing like the strong man I‘ve known all my life. His face was thin and his eyes were dark with anger and bruises still marked his skin. “Father!” I called and ran to him and hugged him tight. He felt thinner than before. My father pulled back and looked at me. His eyes burned with pure rage. “That bitch,” he hissed. His voice was low but shaking with fury. “Seraphina humiliated me in front of the whole world. She made me stand there like a dog and apologize on camera. Me!”“She humiliated me!” My father roared, spit flying. “That fat, useless cow! She put me in here! She made me read that script like I was some common criminal!”“I’ll kill her. I swear to the Goddess, Laura, I’ll tear her throat out with my teeth. I’ll make her watch while I burn that company and the pack
Maxwell’s POVI could not sit still. I walked back and forth across the living room like a trapped animal. My body still hurt from the beating Seraphina and Emelda gave me. Every step sent pain through my ribs but the pain in my heart was worse. I kept looking at the clock. My mother and sister had gone to see Seraphina since yesterday and are yet to be back. They had gone to apologize to her and promise to bring back good news. Finally the front door opened and I turned fast. My mother and Vanessa walked in. Their faces were red and covered in tears and their clothes looked dirty. Their hands were red. They both looked completely broken.“Mother? Vanessa?” I asked. My voice was rough. “What happened? How did it go ? Did she agree to accept me back? Did she forgive us? Did she agree to talk to Caspian—?”My mother sat down on the couch and started crying harder. “What happened?” I demanded, panic clawing up my throat. “Mom? Vanessa? Talk to me!”It took twenty minutes to get the wh
Tricia/ Seraphina’s POVThe morning light came through the windows and woke me up gently. I stretched in bed and felt Caspian’s arm still around me. I smiled and kissed his cheek before getting up. Today was an important day. Today I will officially become CEO of the Montclair company but first, I wanted to handle one more thing. When we went downstairs for breakfast, the whole family was already there. My parents, Caspian’s mother, Emelda, and Patrick sat around the table. They were laughing about something. I sat down and took some food.“What is so funny?” I asked.Emelda grinned. “Vanessa and her mother left very early this morning. The maids said they looked exhausted. They cleaned the whole house like you asked but they ran away as soon as the sun came up. They did not even say goodbye.”Caspian laughed softly. “They probably could not face you again after cleaning like servants, good. They needed that lesson.”My father smiled. “You handled them well my daughter. They will thin
Seraphina’s POVVanessa and her mother stood frozen in the entrance hall. The moment I said they had to clean, their faces changed completely. Vanessa looked at the gray maid uniform like it was something dirty. Her mother stepped back with wide eyes.“We cannot do hard labor,” Vanessa said quickly. Her voice was sharp. “This is too much. We are not servants. We have never cleaned floors or scrubbed anything in our lives. Our hands are soft and our backs cannot handle this kind of work. You cannot ask us to do this.”Her mother nodded fast. She looked almost scared. “Yes, Seraphina. We came here to apologize with good hearts. We brought nice gifts. Making us clean like common workers is not fair. We are high status in our pack. This is beneath us. Please understand.”I stood there and looked at both of them. Old memories came rushing back, I remembered every single day I lived under their roof. I remembered the pain and the shame I went through, then I took a slow breath and spoke cal
Seraphina’s POVMy phone would not stop buzzing even after everything, Maxwell kept sending messages. The last three days had been a nonstop parade of unknown numbers, burner accounts, even an email from an address that was very obviously his. I sat on the bed and looked at the screen again as another message just popped up. I deleted and blocked the number, and a few minutes later he sent another long text with a new number begging me to convince Caspian to drop the charges.Maxwell: Sera… just talk to Caspian.I deleted it, then another message appeared before I could even lock the screen.Maxwell:I need you to talk to Caspian to drop the charges against me, everything I did was because I love you.“Please Seraphina. I am sorry. I promise to change. Give me one more chance.”I read only the first line and blocked the number then deleted it without reading the rest. This was the fifth new number he had used today. I put my phone on silent and smiled. Today was not about Maxwell. T
Tricia / Seraphina’s POVI stood in the doorway of Caspian’s suite, staring at the walk-in wardrobe, and for a moment I couldn’t breathe. New dresses, tops, pants jewelry, handbags, shoes all all arranged by color and the best part is they’re all in my size. This man had apparently prepared an ent

Tricia’s / Seraphina’s POVThree days, that was how long I stayed at the hospital after waking up and in those three days, Maxwell Mercer never came looking for me once. At first, part of me expected it not because I believed he loved me but because I believed his ego would never allow him to lose
Tricia / Seraphina’s POVI stared at him, waiting for him to laugh or to say it was a joke but Caspian didn’t instead he sat beside me waiting for my reply. “Are you insane?” The words ripped out of me, sharp and loud in the quiet hospital room.“Marriage? You want to marry me?,”“Yes,” he said si
