Mag-log inVENUS
Two hours have passed since I left the meeting and have seen Bronze. I don’t know when the meeting ends, so I’m guessing he’s still busy.
I stroll through the packhouse’s garden, the solitude and the cool, gentle breeze calming my nerves.I wonder if Bronze is with Mallory right now.
I can’t stop remembering Sydney’s sympathetic look. Maybe she is right to feel sorry for me.
I catch his scent and hear his footsteps before I hear his voice.“Venus.” He walks over to me with a straight face. “Why did you leave the meeting?”
I hold back a scoff. He’s asking me this after two hours. Not that I expected much since he’s the Alpha of the pack.
“My opinion wasn’t required since Mallory was there,” I say in a sarcastic tone.
His face hardens. “You’re still doubting me?”
“Why shouldn’t I? You allowed Mallory to live in the packhouse and now she’s participating in the training camp.” I retort, my anger rushing to the surface.
“I had no choice. The elders were pressuring me. You saw it and yet you choose to be emotional about it.” He says, and my gut tightens at his words. He sighs, stepping closer, the moonlight carving shadows across his face. “Fine, I’ll kick her out.”
My brows raise his words.
“I’ll do it for you, but will you be able to handle the elder’s wrath after that?” He grabs my arm and looks me in the eye. “Tell me, Venus.” He challenges me.
I stay silent. Not because I don’t have a response. But because I know there’s no point in arguing. He won’t listen.
Bronze can kick Mallory out because he’s the Alpha. He can convince the elders if he wants to. But it isn’t that simple since she’s his mate.
“I thought so,” he says and I let him walk away.
I head back to the guest room and think of coming up with a plan. This situation is slowly getting out of hand and I wonder if I should prepare in case Bronze decides to reject me.
The thought slams into me so hard my legs go numb, and I collapse to the floor. I press my back against the bed, hugging myself as tears stream down my face, unstoppable.
I wish I had my wolf to share my pain with right now.
I have dedicated my entire life to Bronze. If things end, I’m afraid I won’t be able to take the blow. I’m not that strong.
I wipe my tears and tell myself to stay hopeful. No one can tell how things will go, but my parents did not raise me to be a quitter. I will fight for my love until the very end.

Two days later, Mallory shifts to the packhouse.
I walk down the stairs to have breakfast with Bronze. I see him sitting in his chair and feel happy, but then my eyes dart to the chair next to him and Mallory is sitting there. My mood turns gloomy. That’s my chair.
Mallory is saying something to Bronze, but he’s not sparing her a glance and is focused on buttering his bread. I walk over to the table and Bronze looks up at me. Mallory sees me too and gives me a smile.
I don’t smile back and say, “Can you take the other seat? That’s where I usually sit.” I point at the chair.
She chuckles, “It’s just a chair, Venus. You can sit anywhere you want.” She points at the other chairs.
She’s not wrong. I can sit anywhere. But I want to sit close to Bronze. The other seat that’s right beside him is occupied by Simon, who is busy talking to someone on his phone. I can’t ask him to give up his seat.
I feel my heart sink as I look at the two of them. There’s no point in fighting over such a small thing. It’s not small to me, but I doubt anyone else will understand. So I decide to take the seat beside Simon.
“Mallory, take the other chair,” Bronze says and I look at him. He’s pouring orange juice into his glass while he speaks. “Venus sits beside me.”
Mallory’s face falls at his words. She hesitates, then looks at me before getting up and taking the other chair. My heart lifts.
I guess there’s hope for us.
“Why are you standing there? Come here,” Bronze smiles at me.
The peace among us doesn’t last long as a fresh problem rises to the surface regarding the annual training camp. Alpha King Rowan has banned our pack from hosting the camp. Some believe that he has a good reason to do so. Camps like these allow evil forces to enter the pack grounds by disguising as members and causing havoc. That’s the reason this camp hadn’t taken place for so many years.
Regarding the Alpha King, I have never met him in person but heard stories from Ezra, my elder brother. He said that the King isn’t one to be messed with since no one knows his true powers yet.
“I won’t allow him to stop the camp,” Bronze speaks in a firm voice as we sit in the living room, discussing the predicament. He hid the news from the elders because it might lead to them canceling the camp completely.
“How? He’s got the power to ban the camp,” Simon mutters as he sits across us, holding a glass of whiskey in his hand. “The only way I see is by showing him that our pack can provide good security and ensuring the safety of all the foreign pack members who’d be joining this camp.”
I nod, since he’s right.
“I can help with that,” Mallory’s voice interrupts the silence and I find her entering the living room. She gives us a smile as she stands before us. “Sorry, I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on the conversation.”
VENUSMaya blinks a few times and her face falls. “But I planned so many things. Can’t you postpone those affairs for today?” she asks. “I’m afraid not.” Her face turns hard. “Your Grace, are you avoiding me on purpose?” she asks. “You’re acting quite rude with me for no reason at all.” I narrow my eyes. “Bold of you to say that when you paid the waiter at my banquet to ruin my dress.” Panic flares across her eyes. “W-what? M-me? I..” she looks at Juhi. Juhi steps forward. “Your Grace, please refrain from putting such a huge blame on Her Highness. Just because you don’t like her doesn't mean you get to spread false rumors.” “False?” Daisy raises a brow. “The waiter was interrogated by the king. He confessed that it was Lady Maya who paid him to spill wine on Lady Venus’s dress.” Juhi’s eyes widen and Maya’s face turns pale. “H-he must be lying. He’s trying to frame me!” Maya yells, losing her composure. She grabs hold of my shoulders. “Please believe me, Your Grace. I wouldn’t
VENUS“It’s nothing to worry about but a premature bond between your wolf and pup can cause complications when you shift before your pregnancy.” My heart leaps into my throat. “What?!” “When you shift, your body goes through a lot of physical and hormonal changes. Usually, it’s not a big deal. But when a life is growing inside you, the rearrangement of the bones and the changes in hormones will affect the embryo’s development. It’s like when you rearrange a room, you have to move things around. Too much movement or pressure on your womb during that shift can cause complications.” My face turns pale. “W-will my pup be in danger?” “Don’t worry. These complications tend to happen in unshifted pregnant women so we can handle it. All you need to do is keep a nurse around you. Usually it's difficult to predict when you’ll shift so keeping one around will help you during that circumstance. Also tell someone to contact me as soon as you prepare for shifting. In case you don’t shift, there
VENUSAlex suddenly appears beside us. "Impressive." He glances toward Nana. "I think you finally have competition."Nana raises an eyebrow. "Competition? For what?""For delivering insults."Several people laugh. Nana immediately punches Alex in the stomach.Alex doubles over. "Ow!"The old woman looks completely unbothered. "And where were you all this while?""I was…working." Alex groans while clutching his stomach."You still have so much strength left in you, old woman. I’ll tell the King to assign you a position in the military."I smile on hearing their banter. The tension that had suffocated the ballroom earlier has completely disappeared.I glance across the room. Maya's smile looks strained. Beside her, Thane looks ready to strangle someone.Good.I reach for a glass of champagne from a passing tray. Then gently tap the side with a spoon. The ballroom slowly quiets and everyone turns toward me.I take a steady breath and smile. "My name is Venus Donovan. I come from the Iron
VENUSMy heart skips. One glance is all it takes for his eyes to widen slightly. His gaze finally lifts to mine. "I don’t have any words to describe what I see."My heart does an embarrassing little flip.Sid groans. "Get a room." The two women immediately walk ahead, leaving me with him. I look back at Rowan. “You were waiting for me?” He hums. “I wondered if you’re okay so I came to check.” "What if I wasn't fine and decided to not attend the party?" I ask quietly. He raises a brow and his answer comes without hesitation. "Then I'd stop the banquet." His hand finds mine. "I don't care about the banquet." His thumb brushes gently against my skin. "I care about you."Warmth spreads through my chest. The reason I had the courage to not give up is because of him. I know he won’t leave me alone in all of this and even if no one stands for me, he will. I squeeze his hand. “Let’s go.” We walk back toward the ballroom. The doors open and conversation in the hall dies instantly. A colle
VENUSI bite the inside of my cheek. Because technically...the dress isn't terrible. It's just nowhere near Maya's level.Alaric smiles. "If Lady Venus wishes to stand out more, perhaps additional makeup would help." His gaze drifts over my waist. "Or maybe a dark belt."The mockery is obvious and then he snaps his fingers. “Bring my drink.”At that, Clara rushes to him with a drink in his hand. He looks at the glass and scrunches his nose. “I want more ice on it. Go fetch more ice.” Saying that he walks away. Clara nods. When she notices me, her face brightens. "My Lady, you look beautiful."I raise a brow. “Are you sure? This dress doesn't look that flattering.” She purses her lips. “Well, I would have added more color to it–”“CLARA!” Alaric shouts, making all of us flinch. “Ice!” “Coming!” She yells and gives all of us a smile, she walks away. Nana sighs heavily. "We'll have to repair this damage later. But this is clearly odd. Alaric never disappointed us with his designs." S
VENUSThe massive hall glitters beneath crystal chandeliers. Alphas of different packs, businessmen, CEOs of famous companies, council members, military officers, and reporters fill the room. Music flows through the air, played by an orchestra group at the other end of the hall. Conversations pause as people stare at me curiously. I force myself to smile. Rowan's hand settles over mine reassuringly. For the next hour, everything goes smoothly. Rowan introduces me to some businessmen and industry owners. I speak with them politely, trying to make sure I don’t look nervous or overwhelmed, which I am from the inside. The herald announces two more names and I look past my shoulder. Thane enters with Maya holding his arm. A ripple moves through the room. Her emerald gown is stunning. The rich fabric hugs her figure perfectly while emerald gemstones glitter throughout the design like stars. The design and the way she has done her hair and makeup is impossible to ignore. People openly
VENUSI shake my head, pushing the thought away as the day passes quietly.Later, Sid and Alex visit, bringing flowers and their usual energy into the room. We talk, and share jokes, feeling much lighter because of their vibrant presence. I don’t tell them anything about Bronze for now. But Rowan
VENUSSid lets out a low whistle. “Wow. That’s… unexpected. Are you sure about this, Vee?”I nod, trying to sound confident. “Bronze risked his life to protect me. That made me realize his feelings are real.”Sydney’s expression softens. “He really was worried about you. The moment he found out you
ROWANMy heart pounds in my chest as I run through the trees in my wolf form. Asgard’s paws hit the earth and he lets out a snarl. Both of us have rage burning within us. But mixed with that rage is fear that I can’t shake off. Venus is kidnapped by someone I don’t know. I should have been more cau
BRONZE“I told you she’s not a pawn.” I retort, glaring daggers at him. Kyle smirks. “Then there’s no point in this meeting. I might as well just return to my pack because trusting you is pointless. You can’t do shit.” I let go of his collar and scoff. “I do have a plan and I’m not saying that we
