เข้าสู่ระบบKael’s POV
The kiss lasted for only a few seconds; however, the moment I pulled away, I knew I shouldn’t have.
I have spent months convincing myself that being with Aria was the right thing and right now we are supposed to be together; celebrating together and standing close to a woman who isn’t my wife is not the right thing.
No matter who she is.
Guilt consumed me because my wife had just given birth and we were supposed to be naming our child together at the heir presentation ceremony tonight, but every time I see Serena, old feelings resurface.
She was my childhood friend and eventually became my lover. I had already thought she was the one I was going to marry until she told me she couldn’t bear children; we had been sleeping together since and she had never fallen pregnant.
She then told me about the curse, crying and it hurt me to see her cry.
When she came up with a solution to the child problem, I agreed with her.
We both understood the situation here. I am an Alpha and I needed an heir to cement that position; if I couldn’t get one within a stipulated period, my evil cousin Grey would become the Alpha of our Pack.
I would rather die than see that happen.
So I gave in.
When I met Aria for the first time, she was serving tea and her eyes drew me to her.
I was already looking at different werewolf options from different clans but rejecting whoever it would be later on when they become my Luna would be a problem for my pack.
It might even lead to a war.
So a human seemed like the safer option.
Our pack does not permit an Alpha to have two Lunas and the Alpha must publicly reject one before he can have another.
Serena was my chosen mate.
I had loved her since we were kids and I would do anything for her, during the first few months of my marriage, we still linked up a couple of times.
When I began to feel guilty about cheating on my wife even when there was no love in my heart for her, I began to create a distance between myself and Serena.
Along the line, Serena began complaining that she wasn’t fine with me building a relationship with another person. I understood because if I were the one, I would never allow any other man to step a foot close to her.
When she said she was going to travel to give me time to have my heir and decide, it came as a relief to me.
Because I wasn’t fine with cheating on my wife, and that was the truth.
Looking at her now, seeing that she had just caught me briefly kissing my ex.
A kiss I enjoyed.
The look on her face was unexplainable, but it was hurt plus disappointment.
I had disappointed her.
The mother of my child.
“Aria…” I pleaded but I did not know what to say apart from her name.
She did not wait for me to say more; she just walked away.
I turned to follow her when Serena held my wrist to stop me.
“The human has fulfilled her duty; it is time to let her go,” she said, her hand still on my wrist.
“She has a name, Aria and she’s my Luna.”
“No, she isn't. I am going to be your Luna, you made a promise to me and I know you to never go back on your words,” she said calmly with authority.
She looked at me with her big eyes, those eyes that I had fallen for since I could guess what love was. “I know, I haven’t forgotten my promises to you but Aria is the mother of my child; we have to respect that and accord her such respect, we will do everything one step at a time, for fuck’s sake, she just gave birth and she’s vulnerable.” I did not even know when I started raising my voice.
Serena sniffed, like she was holding back tears.
“I am sorry but I need you to give me some time, I also need to get back to the ceremony, okay?”
Without replying to me, Serena walked away.
Good, two ladies had just walked away from me.
I speedily walked back to the ceremony grounds where I had first met Serena tonight. When I got there, Aria was rocking my heir, she wasn’t looking at me.
Her expression was tight.
I know we needed to talk, but now is not the time for it; there are lots of faces here and we just needed to name our child so we can get out of this place.
My best friend, who is also my Beta, James, came to us, “mate, it’s time for the naming.”
“Yes, let’s proceed with that.” I stretched my hand to Aria; she reached out to hold my hand while Pack Mother Mira helped with the baby.
We stepped out to the raised platform there; the crowd hooted, and some were clapping their hands. “Tonight, we celebrate more than the birth of a child; we celebrate the future of Valemont Pack…” I paused; no doubt I am happy about the birth of my son, the happiness showed in my voice as I continued, “…for years, this pack stood with me in every high and low, and tonight, you stand with me because an heir has been born. A son who carries the blood of our ancestors and the hopes of our pack. I thank every one of you for standing with us on this important night.”
I turned toward Aria and the baby as cheers erupted from the crowd.
“Now, it is my honor as Alpha to give my son his name; he shall be called Leo Stone of Valemont Pack."
The crowd hooted; some howled into the night, there were drumrolls too for a few seconds.
The ruling elder of the ruling council stepped forward, making everyone quiet. He is a stern-looking man, always straight to the business, “congratulations on the birth of your heir, Alpha Kael…” he glanced at Aria.
I knew where he was going; he was one of the elders that do not like the idea of a human being their Luna.
I glanced at the crowd to look for James; he needed to walk this man away. “Thank you, Elder Klaus.”
“Alpha Kael, do you acknowledge Lady Aria as the mother of your heir?” He asked sternly.
“I do." my voice was sharper than I intended. I glanced around the crowd, where the fuck is James? He wasn’t amidst the crowd.
Instead, I saw Serena.
I was caught off guard.
I looked at her with a flicker of disbelief crossing my face; I thought she had left.
“Do you acknowledge her as your luna?” Elder Klaus asked again.
Aria’s POVThe first thing I felt upon awakening was warmth. But it wasn't the warmth of sunlight, and it wasn't the warmth of fire.No.It was the warmth of a body pressed close to mine.I didn't open my eyes right away. Instead, for a brief moment I lay there half-sleeping and letting myself enjoy the unfamiliar warmth of someone else. After all, for the first time in a long time, I wasn’t alone.Until my waist was enclosed in his arm.I blinked, staring at the ceiling while memories started flooding my brain one after another.Mother Elara leaving me.Draven and I were left alone in his room. His hands on my face. His promise to protect me.How he looked at me.That kiss.My breath caught. All the events that followed the kiss were rushing to my mind.I blushed.Oh, oh God.I actually…My thoughts stopped. There was no use in trying to pretend that I didn't remember everything that had happened.I remembered it all.Absolutely everything.I turned my head a little bit.Draven was s
Draven’s POVBut the silence didn't last long. It was thick with the smell of jasmine, the scent of sex and the raw scent of our fucking. I lay there, heaving, looking at the ceiling beams as the realization of what just happened hit me. Aria was lying lifeless and heavy across me, her breaths harsh and fast against my neck. My cock was inside her, still hardening and not retreating, keeping the connection and my claim inside her tight and wet heat. I could feel the mess of our release trickling out around the base of my shaft, coating her thighs and mine.It was dirty. Perfect.I never expected that she would be in arms tonight after I had dreamt about her.I had not expected such even an hour ago.I shifted my hips slightly, and she gasped. It was a soft, broken noise, going right to my gut. The line between the king and his guest wasn't just crossed; it was torn down. Looking down at her, I noticed her flushed cheeks, her dark hair plastered to her forehead with sweat and the bruis
I maintained eye contact with him while I opened my mouth. Not a request. But a submission.A feral noise came from his throat as he gave into the urge. There was nothing to ask, nothing to hold back for. He pounced on me and kissed me with such passion that my breath went away in shock. This was not a kiss that two young lovers could have in the gardens of a castle but a siege of an enemy fortress. His hands reached my waist and pulled me closer, and then I could feel the hardness of his cock pressed into me through our clothing.Kissing him desperately, I held his head and drew him even closer so that there would be no more space anywhere. His tongue came into my mouth and tasted me forcefully and hungrily. His tongue encroached on my mouth. The taste of him was addictive: dark and primal, I ground my hips into his, a silent plea for more."Draven," I gasped against his lips.He did not utter a word. Using his desperate hands, he started to rip off the ties of my bodice. The dress w
We fell silent for some time. Mother Elara cleared her throat, looking at Draven. At me. Then back at Draven. Whatever she saw must have made the corners of her mouth twitch, but I did not understand what. "Mother Elara?" I frowned. "What?" "Nothing." I narrowed my eyes. Yet another time someone told me that nothing was happening, but something obviously was. "Everyone in this kingdom says 'nothing' when they mean something." Mother Elara smiled. "I guess I have told you enough for today." I was about to argue. However, she had already turned around to leave. "Mother Elara." She stopped. I looked at her. "Are you going?" Mother Elara's eyebrows went up. "Is there something else you need to talk about?" I glanced at Draven. He was standing several feet away from me, studying me with a face I was unable to read. I immediately turned away from him. "No." Mother Elara's smile widened. "Good." I frowned. "Why does it sound suspicious?" "Because you suspect everything."
The question escaped my lips before I could stop it. I scrutinized her carefully, waiting for an answer. But she remained silent."Mother Elara?" I called. She cast down her eyes. This was not the answer I expected."You don't know," I whispered. She looked into my eyes. "I don't know for sure."I stared at her. "Then why have you been speaking as though she were alive?""I have not.""You said she must have been appearing in my dreams.""She could have been.""That's not the same thing.""No."I frowned. For the first time since our conversation had started, Mother Elara looked uncertain.I could not understand the reason. She had spent so much time talking to me about my mother. Her abilities. Her childhood. Why she had left me.And now that I was asking about the one thing I needed to know, she suddenly looked scared of the answer."Mother Elara."She sighed. "I have seen her."My breath caught. "What?""I have seen Elena."I stared at her. "Where?"Mother Elara looked at me for se
"Yes," she replied. My heart tightened. "How? We both know she’s usually right in that department.""Because love and jealousy can coexist."I looked at her.She continued. "I loved my sister. But I also resented her. And Elena could feel that."My breath caught. "So she knew.""She knew everything."My eyes widened."Then..." A thought suddenly flashed through my mind. "If you truly loved her, she knew that you loved her.""Yes.""Then why did she think that nobody loved her?"Mother Elara's eyes filled with tears again. "Because sometimes, Aria, people don't feel the love you give them when it is hidden behind everything else."I looked at her. Those words settled somewhere deep inside me.Then another thought occurred to me.One that had been bothering me since Mother Elara had told me about my mother's powers.I swallowed. "You said that she could appear in someone's dreams."Mother Elara nodded. "She could.""She appeared in mine." My heart began racing. "The woman I saw." I pres
