LOGINCHAPTER FOUR
After their heated encounter, he released her without a word. He stood up and calmly dressed himself before turning to look at her once more. A faint smirk appeared on his lips as he untied the restraints around her wrists. His eyes slowly traveled from her head down to her feet. She didn't even have the strength to cover herself. For a brief moment, she caught a flicker of desire in his dark eyes. "No one is going to bring food to your room," he said coldly. "If you're hungry, there's food in the refrigerator." The corner of his lips lifted into another smirk before he turned toward the door. All she could do was silently watch him leave. Just before stepping out, he glanced back at her. "Don't waste your time trying to escape—or your energy. You won't get off this island. Save your strength... You'll need it to satisfy me again." Then he walked away, leaving the room in silence. Addie stared blankly at the ceiling, feeling every ache throughout her exhausted body. A single tear slipped down her cheek. Is this my life now? Am I nothing more than that man's plaything? She wanted to wipe away her tears, but she couldn't even lift her arm. Completely drained, she closed her eyes and surrendered to sleep. "What exactly are you planning to do with her, Zake?" Mang Kanor asked. Zake stood on the terrace, overlooking the endless sea. "I don't know yet," he answered emotionlessly. "For now, it's better if she stays here." He rested both hands on the railing and closed his eyes as the cool ocean breeze brushed against his face. "We're leaving now," Mang Kanor said. "I'll return in a week with the groceries you'll need." Zake didn't respond. He simply wasn't in the mood to talk. Soon, he heard the old man's footsteps fade into the distance. Moments later, he watched Mang Kanor and the household staff board a small boat waiting by the shore. Before long, the boat disappeared beyond the horizon. Silence settled over the island. Only the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the beach remained. The evening breeze had grown colder. His eyes slowly opened. His thoughts drifted back to the woman in the guest room. She still hadn't come out to eat. Does she expect me to bring food to her? He clicked his tongue in annoyance. He headed toward his bedroom, intending to rest. As he passed the guest room, he shrugged and continued walking. After only a few steps... He stopped. He cursed quietly under his breath. For some reason... He felt compelled to check on her. "Damn." Irritated with himself, he turned around, walked back, and pushed the bedroom door open. He had been ready to curse again. Instead... He froze. She was fast asleep. Slowly, he walked closer. Her long hair was a tangled mess. His gaze moved to her face. Her lips were swollen from the intensity of their earlier kisses. "Damn..." His eyes lowered further. She was still uncovered. Marks remained scattered across her neck, shoulders, and upper chest—clear reminders of everything that had happened between them. Bruises had already begun to darken against her fair skin. A wave of anger washed over him. Not at her. At himself. He had never been the kind of man who hurt women. But her father's betrayal had changed everything. The agreement had been broken. Instead of becoming his wife... She had become his captive. His eyes returned to her face. Dry tear tracks stained her cheeks. For the first time since bringing her here... Guilt tightened inside his chest. He hadn't been able to control himself earlier. It had been as though years of restraint had suddenly shattered. He studied her sleeping face. Even exhausted and disheveled... She was breathtakingly beautiful. His gaze instinctively drifted downward again. He quickly looked away. "Damn..." He grabbed the blanket lying nearby and carefully pulled it over her body. As he did, his eyes fell on her wrists. The faint red marks left by the restraints were still visible. "Damn..." He cursed himself once more before hurriedly leaving the room.CHAPTER ELEVENThe first thing Addie felt when she opened her eyes was pain.Every muscle in her body ached—not from injury alone, but from the emotional exhaustion that had consumed her the previous night. She remained motionless beneath the blanket, staring blankly at the ceiling.Fragments of the confrontation replayed relentlessly inside her head. His cold gray eyes. His unwavering grip. The way he cornered her until she felt there was nowhere left to run.She squeezed her eyes shut."No..."She didn't want to remember.More than anything, she wanted to erase the entire night from her memory.Yet another thought tormented her even more. Her own reactions.Despite the terror...Despite knowing she wanted nothing more than to escape...There had been moments when her body betrayed her, trembling under the overwhelming fear, adrenaline, and confusion. She hated herself for it.A tear slipped down the corner of her eye."It doesn't mean anything," she whispered to herself."My body re
A suffocating pressure settled over Addie's chest. She couldn't breathe. Her lungs burned as if someone had stolen every ounce of air from the room. With a sharp gasp, her eyes flew open. For a few terrifying seconds, she couldn't understand what had awakened her. Then she saw him.Moonlight streamed through the open balcony doors, casting pale silver across the bedroom. A tall figure stood beside her bed, motionless, his face half-hidden by shadows. Her heart stopped."...Zake."The name barely escaped her lips.He slowly stepped closer until the moonlight revealed his cold gray eyes staring down at her."You finally woke up."Addie immediately pushed herself backward, scrambling toward the headboard."What are you doing in my room?" she demanded, her voice trembling. No answer.Instead, he continued walking toward her with slow, measured steps. Each footstep echoed inside the silent bedroom. Her pulse pounded violently."Stop!"He didn't."Don't come any closer!"He stopped only whe
CHAPTER NINEAddie woke up in the middle of the afternoon. Before getting out of bed, she lay there for several minutes, staring blankly into space. Eventually, she pushed herself up and slowly climbed out of bed.Stretching her stiff limbs, she walked toward the bedroom window overlooking the sea.A small smile found its way onto her lips. The view was breathtaking. If she had come here on vacation instead of being brought here against her will, she probably would've been genuinely happy. The peaceful atmosphere was unlike anything she had ever experienced. She rested both hands on the terrace railing and closed her eyes. The cool ocean breeze gently brushed against her skin. The air here was so refreshing—nothing like the suffocating pollution of the city, where even taking a deep breath felt exhausting. She remained there for several minutes before opening her eyes again. She was about to head back inside when something near the rocky shoreline caught her attention. Her gaze froze.
CHAPTER EIGHTAddie leaned back against her chair and let out a deep sigh. Why wouldn't Manang Cita believe her?Could she be working with that man?No... judging from the older woman's reaction, she genuinely seemed unaware of what was really happening. Then why won't she believe me?Closing her eyes, she rested her head against the back of the chair. What am I supposed to do now? she silently asked herself. After another weary sigh, she opened her eyes and reluctantly picked up her spoon. She scooped a small amount of the garlic fried rice onto it and stared at it for a moment. With a grimace, she took a cautious bite. She even shut her eyes, expecting it to taste awful—or worse, make her sick. But as she slowly chewed, surprise spread across her face. It's actually... delicious.A smile unconsciously appeared on her lips as she took another bite, this time with a spoonful piled high. Before long, she was eating wholeheartedly.Just as she finished her last bite, someone walked into
CHAPTER SEVENZake stood on the balcony, staring into the endless darkness while loosely holding a glass of whiskey. He let out a long sigh before setting the glass down on the railing and resting both hands against it.He couldn't get what had happened with Addriane earlier at the beach out of his mind.Deep inside, he knew he had hurt her with the brutality of his actions. Yet he didn't regret it. He wanted her to fear him—to think twice before ever doing something that would anger him again.Closing his eyes, he allowed the cool night breeze to wash over him.It was already late, but sleep refused to come. He had tried forcing himself to rest, yet his mind wouldn't stop racing. In the end, he gave up, poured himself a drink, and stepped onto the terrace instead. After another weary sigh, he turned around, picked up his glass, drained the remaining liquor in one gulp, and finally headed back inside to sleep. The sun was already high in the sky when Addie finally woke up. If its brig
The two of them remained on the beach for nearly an hour. She never moved from where she sat, her legs stretched out toward the sea while the small waves washed over her feet, soaking the hem of her shorts.Dusk slowly settled over the island. The sky glowed with shades of orange, reflecting beautifully across the calm ocean. With the sun sinking below the horizon, darkness gradually enveloped the shore. From a distance, Zake continued watching her.She showed no sign of leaving. He let out a weary sigh and closed his eyes.Am I really doing the right thing?Marriage had never been part of their original agreement. When Adrianne's parents could no longer repay the enormous debt they owed him, he had decided to ask for their daughter's hand in marriage instead. But everything changed the moment her father broke their agreement and hid Adrianne from him.The amount they owed him wasn't small. It was worth millions. He had trusted them with his money and even invested in their businesses
