Chapter 7: The Confrontation

She’s unconscious. He’s holding all of her.

She weighs nothing. “Has she been eating? She looks thin.”

Check her breathing. Thumb over her wrist. Phone in his hand, 911 ready, but he waits. “Kisha? Can you hear me? Says her name like a prayer.

On the hospital bed, a drip tube was passed through her veins.

She wakes up with his jacket over her. It smells like him.

“Ceiling first, then his face. He was sleeping peacefully, his head rested on the bed. How uncomfortable, she thought.”

His heart was a drum. Too fast. Was it hers or his?

Corey felt the atmosphere change, he stirred, then woke up to see Kisha finally wake.

“I’m fine”, she uttered without looking at him.

The floor rose to meet her. But it never came because he was there. He held her like she was made of spun sugar. Like if he breathed wrong she’d dissolve.

Hungry?

Hmm, she nodded.

Brenda will be here soon, she prepared a meal for you.

Tsk… “What does Brenda have to do with me being here”? She questioned.

“I don’t need her to babysit me”, she remarked.

Brenda is my ally, a friend, we go way back.

Don’t feel too important. She isn’t here for you.

She’s here because I’m here with you, she’s making sure I am okay.

Hope you don’t have a problem with that?

Kisha turned away, not wanting him to condone such nonsense.

Don’t bother, I am not hungry.

“He’s here, I thought ... .not because he wants to, he felt he had to.

Tears secretly welled up secretly in her eyes.

She wipes it fast before he notices.

Am hereee!!! Who's hungry?… Brenda barged in charged with so much energy.

Ooops… So sorry for taking too long, Corey.

I made your favourite.”I made you steak! Your favourite!”.

“I don’t like steak”, he frowned.

“But you ordered it last _”

It’s fine. I'm going to eat anyway.

He took a bite, uhm it’s nice.

Kisha shut her eyes to the madness happening in front of her.

She needed to keep her sanity in check.

“I would like some rest please” She said looking directly at them.

The kind of look that says screw you both.

“Ok then, take care” Corey walked out holding Brenda’s hand.

Her eyes bulged out in seeing him hold her hands, acting all caring and soft.

They walked out of the hospital like a couple.

He wanted to make sure that information got to Kisha, for her to lose her cool just to spite her.

“Uhm… Rey, I want us to go see a movie together”she says looking down, acting like a cute bunny.

Corey feels irritated by her action, don’t do that it doesn’t suit you.

Let me remind you. You’re not the one in charge, stop acting desperate.

Lastly, get your hands off me, you’re only allowed to touch me when I want you to. Is that clear?

Brenda nods, she wants to say something but Corey shushes her immediately.

I don’t like girls who talk too much or disagree whenever I speak,

I find them unattractive. He got into his car and zoomed off.

Brenda's mouth was wide open by his action.

“What on earth is wrong with him? Is he fucking with me?” She yelled in frustration.

No, no! I won’t give up on you Corey Lawson. You’re mine and mine alone.

I couldn’t stand what was happening right in front of me, all I knew was they both needed to leave. I felt something wet on my cheeks.

My hands lifted, brushing my skin. I hadn’t even realized I was crying.

I shook my head slowly, like maybe if I shook hard enough, I would wake up from this twisted reality.

I laughed bitterly. “You know what ?” I said, voice hoarse barely above a whisper. Kisha you’re pathetic.

I pressed harder against the bed, still wiping at the tears with the back of my hands.

Something inside me snapped. My whole body shook with rage,

My vision blurred with anger, I could feel good roaring in my ears.

… the door creaked open, I said I didn't want to see anyone.

Breathing heavily, I feel shallow inside seeing my mom.

“Dear it’s me, your mom” her voice came out barely in a whisper.

I heard you were sick, I brought some soup, you’d love it.

My gaze darkened. I didn’t know what was more surprising, her words or the fact that despite all my frustration, despite every logical part of my mind screaming at me to throw her out I couldn’t.

Mom, please I want to rest. I looked at her indifferently, she was standing beside me, her hands pressed against my cheeks.

Her gaze trailed down my body, like she was inspecting if I was hurt badly. The way her eyes lingered made something rise in my chest.

I wasn’t a complicated person. I didn’t need expensive or grand gestures to feel special. I just wanted someone, just one person to understand me, to regard my feelings.

Sigh…I let out a dry laugh.

I wiped my tears roughly with the back of my hand."Keep it. I don’t need it”.

“I don’t want anything from you, absolutely nothing. Stay away.” She yelled. Kisha, I just wanted to know if you are alright, I am your mother, I certainly care about you

“Cut the crap, mom” I snapped.

She flinched. She had probably never seen this side of me.

I was always the obedient, diligent daughter she designed to be.

We were happy, weren’t we?

So why? Why did you choose this life over what we had back then, peace and love. A true family with Morgan.

You blew that all away when you decided to return to Robert, your husband.

“Kisha, things weren’t as easy as you place them to be. I needed to see your brothers, my sons”.

Tsk… fear, you were fucking afraid. Afraid to be happy.

You used me, I was just a tool, a cover for your infidelity. A perfect daughter to make you cover up for your mistakes. And I loved you.

Despite everything I loved you, despite how cold you were to me most times. I held my chest, my heart thumps loudly like it was about to rip out.

  • Seeking Deeper Fantasy   Chapter 15: The Truth Buried In Timber

Corey’s footsteps echoed across the wet concrete as he entered the abandoned mill. Every instinct screamed that something wasn’t right, the building was too quiet, too still. It reminded him of a predator waiting patiently for its prey.“Mr. Lawson.” Shawn lowered his voice, "I've searched the perimeter and there’s clearly no sign of movement.”Corey frowned. That doesn’t mean we’re alone. His eyes swept across the vast warehouse, broken machines, rotting timber, dust dancing beneath narrow beams of light. Everything looked frozen in time, except, one light glowed upstairs.“Kisha.” He whispered her name before climbing the old staircase. Upstairs, Kisha refused to look away from Robert Prime. You’ve lied to me my entire life, I find it so hard to believe whatever crap you’re saying.Robert smiled faintly. No, my mistake was that I simply allowed others to tell you their version.“You manipulated me.” Kisha was angry, she was bent on telling him how miserable of a father he is. You use

The rain had finally stopped. Dark clouds still lingered above Stark City, refusing to surrender to the morning sun. Kisha sat alone in her living room, the old photograph resting on the coffee table. Her fingers traced the faded edges for what felt like the hundredth time. The little girl in the picture was undoubtedly her.The little boy standing beside her… Corey. How could that be possible? She searched her memories desperately. Nothing, not a single image or a single voice. Not even the old timber mill looked familiar. Her head began to ache. “No…” She whispered to herself. This doesn’t make any sense. The sound of her phone vibrating startled her, unknown number. Her heart skipped. She answered cautiously, “Hello?” Silence. Then, a calm masculine voice spoke. “Some memories are buried because they were never meant to be remembered.” The call disconnected. “Kisha?” She stared at the phone in disbelief. Who knew her name? Who was watching her? At Legacy Woodwork, Corey had

The silence inside the hospital room was unbearable. Kisha sat motionless on the edge of the bed, her fingers tightening around the white blanket. She could still hear Brenda’s voice. “Corey will probably be waiting for me.” The words echoed in her mind like a cruel melody. She laughed bitterly.“So this is what heartbreak feels like.” She wasn’t angry, not anymore instead she was exhausted. Her heart had simply grown too tired to fight.A soft knock interrupted her thoughts.“Come in.” The door opened slowly. It was the nurse. “Miss Prime, the doctor has discharged you. You’re free to leave whenever you’re ready.” Kisha nodded while whispering, “Thank you.”The nurse hesitated for a second, there is… one more thing. She handed over a small cream-colored envelope. It was delivered about twenty minutes ago, but it doesn't have a sender’s name.Kisha nodded as she received the envelope. “For me?”“Yes.” The nurse smiled politely before leaving. The room became silent once again. • Seeking Deeper Fantasy   Chapter 12: The Trap Tightens

The silence inside the hospital room felt heavier than before. Kisha remained seated on the edge of the bed, the folded letter still trembling between her fingers. She had read the message more than five times, yet the words refused to make sense. If you want to save Corey Lawson… come alone. Her heartbeat echoed loudly in her ears. Who sent it? Why now? And how did they know everything?A knock on the door startled her. She quickly slipped the letter beneath her pillow. “Come in.”Mama Uyioku walked in slowly, leaning on the nurse for support. Despite the weakness written across her face, the warmth in her smile remained unchanged. “My stubborn girl.”Kisha forced a smile. You should be resting, Mama.“And leave you alone with that troubled face?” Mama chuckled softly before taking a seat beside her. I’ve watched you since you were little. Every time you’re hiding something, your eyes become restless.Kisha lowered her gaze. “I don’t want to drag anyone else into my problems.”“My ch

  • Seeking Deeper Fantasy   Chapter 11: The Price Of Silence (Part 1)

The room was silent except for the steady rhythm of the heart monitor. Kisha lay motionless, staring at the white ceiling. Brenda’s visit had left a bitter taste in her mouth. Every word she had spoken replayed in her mind like an endless recording.“Corey and I went out for lunch…”“His mother treats me like a daughter-in-law…”“He needs stability.”Kisha let out a dry laugh. So this is what my life has become.A knock interrupted her thoughts. “Come in.”The door creaked open slowly. Mama Uyioku stepped inside with the help of her walking stick, refusing the nurse’s assistance.“My sweet girl.” Kisha immediately sat upright. Mama, you shouldn’t be walking around. “And who are you to scold an old woman?” Mama teased with a faint smile.Despite everything weighing on her heart, Kisha couldn’t help smiling. “You never listen.”“I learned from you.” They laughed softly. For a brief moment, the world outside disappeared. Mama reached for Kisha’s hand.“I saw Brenda.”Kisha’s smile vanishe

  • Seeking Deeper Fantasy   Chapter 10: The Unannounced Visit

“The smell of doom” Brenda thought wandering aimlessly. How and why should she compete for his love? Okay that’s fine by her but for fucking attention, that’s absurd!I want what I want!, whatever madness it takes to ruin him totally, I'm gonna do it anyway. She was boiling with rage inside, rage from the fact that she had to dress up extravagantly with heavy makeup just for him to come up with a pathetic excuse of not wanting to see her.Seems like the battle line has been drawn, Corey Lawson.“I’ll make sure you fall head over heels for me so that you won’t be able to focus on anything or anyone else but me.” She smirked. Her imagination runs wild, her and Corey together on a get away boat. Enjoying their life to the fullest, making out on the island, stroking his dick as his sanity goes in search for her soul. She can feel it. Almost everything he is doing to her mind, soul and body. The pent up feeling of lust, bondage and discipline session.“Gosh, I super love it” she snapped ba
