Hailey's POV ***** ~~~ I sent that video to just one person, Dylan. My dickhead boyfriend. So when his friend texted, "Nice tits, but maybe try a red lingerie next time," I knew exactly what had happened. Dylan’s been going on and on about how our sex life was so bland, and I decide to go out of my shell to make a spicy video for him, and he sends it to his friend? I'm supposed to be leaving the city right now for a property viewing with a client tomorrow. If I'd been able to close that sale it would have been an additional milestone achievement in my career, but Dylan chose this as the perfect time to not take any of my calls. I stormed to the door of our apartment when the sound of loud bass speakers echoing through the air and vibrating on the walls hit me. No fucking way, he's having a party? On a Monday night? Who parties on a Monday? Why am I even surprised? It's very on brand for Dylan. I grab the doorknob, pulling it with so much anger it feels like it might eject from the door. The first sight that meets my eyes is Justin, Dylan's stupid friend who sent the text. "Hey there, had no idea you'd be joining us," he smiled, almost like he was amused to see me. "I should punch a hole in your face right now, but I'm saving it for your friend. Where is he?" I force a smile, and he just stretches his hand, pointing inside the house. My eyes travel around the apartment taking in the sight in front of me, there were so many drinks, and someone was standing on my expensive couch with their shoes on? You better be joking. I pushed past Justin, seething, already deciding if I should pull him off my couch by his shirt or by his leg, but ultimately deciding to turn off the music before anything. But the moment I turned back around, after the music went off, a voice spoke from beside me, loud enough for everyone to hear. "Isn't that the girl from the video?" And another "Oh my God it's her," I turn to both girls with a confused and equally irritated expression, “What video? What the fuck are you talking about?” But I didn't get a response, just silent mumbles, until Justin spoke. "Hailey, we've all seen the video, you didn't really strike me as the freaky type, but what can I say," he chuckles. I was still trying to process what he just said, hoping my ears were playing tricks on me, when another guy spoke, his eyes moving between his phone and me. "I think she looks better in real life." I forcefully grab his phone, hoping to God it isn't what I think it is, but all my hope disappeared the second my eyes landed on the screen. I lifted my gaze slowly, eyes scanning everyone in the room, searching for one person Dylan, chest heaving as I tried to get my emotions under control. The door to our bedroom opened almost immediately, and he showed up, with a girl's arm around his neck, while he held her up by her waist, the other hand gripping her ass as they kissed "Dylan?" My voice came out in a controlled tone. He almost freezes completely, eyes wide in shock to see me, but he quickly erases it before anyone would notice. With a blood-curdling smile on his face, he yells. “Everyone meet our very own mattress actress,” with his arms spread wide. The whole room erupted in laughter, all pointing fingers at me, and it was like my world stopped. Wishing the ground should split open or some magic sorcerer would miraculously zap me out of here. I gritted my teeth, fighting back the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, I wanted to do something, anything, but I couldn't stand one more second of them all staring and laughing at me. I turned around, heading for the door, with the heavy gaze of their eyes on my back threatening to pull me to the ground. Just when I was about to exit the building, a familiar voice called from behind me, the same one that had called me a mattress actress. “Hailey!” He yelled, his hurried footsteps following close behind me. So now I'm Hailey? No longer the mattress actress? I kept walking, with no intentions of answering him when I felt a strong force yank my hands, turning me to face him. “Hailey, I'm sorry,” he pleaded. A chuckle escapes my lips, he never ceases to amaze me. “And you think that's going to undo the damage you've done? I just saw you kissing another girl, and being all touchy with her, your friends all saw it, the same friends that know you're in a relationship with me, and instead of apologising there and then, you doubled down to call me a mattress actress in front of all of them. Seriously?" "Hailey you're overreacting, just hear me out." "Me? I'm overreacting? Jesus Dylan, you disrespect me in front of your friends, show them my private video, and you think I'm overreacting?!” I yelled, catching the attention of a few people passing by, who suddenly turned in our direction but tried not to make it too obvious. “I never asked you to make any video.” “Are you joking?” “Look I'm sorry okay, I just did it to look tough in front of them, they've been acting weird to me since they found out you put me on a weekly allowance and you've been paying the rent and all our bills,” Every word coming out of his mouth somehow kept increasing the rage burning within me. "They already think I'm living off you. I just wanted to give them the impression I'm still in control, It isn't that big of a deal." He looked so serious saying it, like I was supposed to somehow understand and be okay with the rationality behind his actions. But I can't keep listening to this bullshit anymore, not today. I pull away from his grip and go straight to my car before he can stop me again when he speaks one more time. “I'm sorry baby, but I know you'll come back, you always do.” I pause for a second, tilting my head to take one glance at him, before getting into the car and driving off. ~~ ***** ~~ “I don't know what more he's going to do to make you finally have the guts to leave him,” my best friend, Avery, let out an exasperated sigh. “Fourteen, fifteen, sixteen….” I continued counting the stars on her ceiling as I lay on her bed. “Aren't you going to say anything?” She pauses with her makeup to glance at me. “Wait, are you going out?” “Nah, I'm just doing my makeup to go to bed, don't we all do that? Go to bed with a full glam?” “Geez,” I let out a loud laugh. “You could have just answered.” “I’ve been your friend long enough to know when you're trying to run from a topic,” she continues with her makeup and speaks. “And if you must know, I'm going on a date.” “Weren’t you on a bowling date yesterday?” “Yeah this one is with a different guy.” Of course it's a different guy, it's Avery. “Making good use of my freewill,” she continued. “Right,” I chuckled. Avery might not know this, but I wish I was like her, maybe if I was more in control when it comes to relationships I wouldn't be in this mess with Dylan. I guess closing house sales is the only thing I'm good at. “Can we talk about the Dylan situation now?” She questioned. “I don't know what you want me to say,” I sighed. “Maybe, ‘he's done enough and I'm going to leave him’.” “We've been together for well over ten years and you know that, I can't just…leave.” “News flash! You can! After he's cheated on you more times than you can count? You know what, I have a plan,” I could almost see the lightbulb of mischief go off in her head as she brought out her phone, typing God knows what. A few seconds later, my phone pings as a notification comes in and I sit up, bringing it to my face with almost the speed of light. “Relax, we both know Dylan won't text you.” “I'm expecting a message from my mum,” I replied, eyes scanning for a text from Dylan, but it was just Avery’s name hovering on the screen. “I sent you an access card to Red Veil, for tonight, ,” she said, walking close to me. I open my mouth to protest but she immediately cuts me short, holding my face with both hands as she looks straight into my eyes. “Hailey Caldwell, you're going to listen to me, and you're going to do as I say.” “Avery please….” “I know you know you should leave Dylan, but you can't, because of history, but I know what's going to erase that history in just one night,” her face lit up, a mischievous smile crawling into her lips. And I subconsciously brace for what she's about to say next. “You need a new dick.”I gulped at the sight of him, he was even more striking than I remember.Wearing a white shirt, buttons loosened down to his chest, with black pants to match.“Well are you gonna let me in?” I questioned, and he led me inside. It was a suite, not surprising for a man of his type. He gestured for me to sit on the couch and handed me a glass of wine while he leaned against the wall opposite where I sat.I took a sip, and spoke. “Over the phone, you said you knew I'd come.” “You’re quite easy to read”“And how did you come to that conclusion?”"For one, I can tell you're nervous right now.""I'm not," I shrug, denying it even though he was right."Your foot hasn't stopped tapping the floor since you walked in.”Yeah well I'm about to cheat on someone I've been with for more than ten years, of course I'm nervous.“Can you quit studying me? You're making this awkward.”“I have to admit,” he twirled his wine glass slightly. “I’ve been looking forward to getting that call from you.”“You
He got out of the bathroom at that very moment, like he had sensed something was wrong.I tilted the phone in his direction, making him squint his eyes at it like he was trying to make out what it was I was showing him, but I wasn't about to let him play dumb.I sent the phone launching to him and he caught it mid air, a slight displeasure flickered on his expression but it was quickly replaced with something with no emotion.“Why were you going through my phone?”His tone was filled with disappointment and anger you'd think I was the one who got caught cheating.“Who is she?”“Hailey just because you pay the bills around here doesn't give you the right to invade my privacy,” he warned, his index finger pointing at my face in a silent warning as he took slow steps closer.“And it gives you the right to cheat on me whenever you want and have the guts to stand there talking about privacy?” “What are you going to do about it? Leave?” He chuckles, rolling his eyes.“Come on Hailey, how m
He finally lifted his gaze until it met mine and spoke in a voice so deep it sent vibrations down my spine."Your offer. Is it still on the table?"My composure slipped for a second as I tried to gather myself without looking completely smitten. The closer he got, the more painfully aware I became of my own breathing, of the flutter low in my stomach that made no sense at all.I opened my mouth to answer when my phone pinged.Instinctively, I glanced at the screen and the moment I saw his name, my chest tightened. Dylan. He'd texted."I asked a question."His voice pulled me back to the present, and somehow, it felt like the girl from the club had vanished the second Dylan's name appeared on my screen. Suddenly, all I could see was how pathetic my actions had been. And sadly, as intoxicating and tempting as this feels, I can't do this to Dylan.“I'm sorry, but I need to leave now, forget I approached you earlier.” I try to go but he pushes my back against the wall, hands lifting m
The next minute I was in the shortest most revealing black dress I had ever worn, with my hair flowing over my back like a second outfit, standing in front of a club.I came up with every excuse I could think of just to snake my way out of this, but turning Avery's fantastic ideas down has never been an easy job.I turned back at the sound of a honk to see her all smiles, waving at me.“Have fun!!” She yelled and drove off.I let out an exhausted sigh and made my way into the club. Inside, it was dark, with neon and laser lights sweeping over the club, it was filled with people, but not packed, just the right amount of crowd, with a good number of people on the dance floor, while others sat in the secluded areas, with strippers dancing on their tables. If I want to go through with Avery's plan, getting a new dick, I have to look like I belong, and alcohol always gives me confidence I never knew I had.Twelve shots down and a loud squeal escaped my tongue as I slammed the glass to th
