Alice’s POV

A sudden dizzy sensation washed over me.

What the hell did I get myself into?

My gaze was unfocused, my head banging.

“Dress up,” Klaus uttered, his voice snapping me out of my thoughts. “We have somewhere to be.”

“Huh?” I blinked in confusion.

He pinched my cheek, amusement flashing in his eyes. “I’ll be downstairs,” he said. “Don’t keep me waiting.”

I sat down, raking my fingers through my hair. Hannah knocked, walking in.

“Sir asked me to give you this,” she sai

Alice’s POV“How do you know about all these?” I asked, my voice barely audible. “Did you follow me?”Klaus didn’t respond, instead a smirk played on his lips. “Answer me! I deserve to know.”He brought out a cigarette from his pocket, before slowly lighting it. I gritted my teeth. This man had the nerves to ignore me. “Klaus.”He finally looked at me, slowly releasing a stream of smoke. The tip of his cigarette pulsed with an orange glow, illuminating his sharp jawline. He tilted his head. “Don’t you think you deserve a little bit of punishment?” “You’re changing the subject!”He exhaled another steam of smoke which blurred his silhouette, adding a dangerous allure to him. “Alice, you lied to me. You sneaked out of my house and met Sophia behind my back.”His voice was calm, but somehow, it frightened me more. “Didn’t it ever occur to you that I might have a reason for keeping you in the dark? Some truths do not set people free, instead, they destroy them.”I fell silent, furrow

Alice’s POV“A DNA test?” I repeated, my voice barely audible. Mrs Grey nodded, her brows knitting together at the center. She stared at me with unblinking eyes, desperately waiting for my response. “I…I need time to think this through,” I muttered almost to myself. For a second, a flicker of disappointment crossed her features. If I was her, I would also feel the same. This was the only way to find out the truth. But for some reason, I wasn’t ready. She released a heavy sigh. “it’s fine. Take your time, dear.”Then she handed a business card to me. “Please, take this. When you’re ready, call me.”I nodded. “Thank you.”She tilted her head, her reddened eyes shifting to the ring on my finger. “You’re married?”I immediately withdrew my fingers, hiding them under the desk. “Yeah.”She smiled faintly despite the sadness that lingered in her eyes. With trembling lips, she asked. “Who is your husband?”“Klaus Gambino,” I replied without hesitation. The moment those words left my lips,

Alice’s POVMrs Grey was clad in a white business suit that made her effortlessly elegant and professional. Her blue eyes were fixed on me, as if I was the only thing she could see.“It’s you,” she said, her gaze softening. The receptionist’s eyes widened. “M-Mrs Grey, I was just explaining our company’s policy to her…”Mrs Grey didn't even glance at her. “That wouldn’t be necessary.”Silence swallowed the lobby. Every employee shifted their gaze towards me, curiosity dancing in their eyes.“Please. Come with me,” she said. The moment she uttered that sentence, everyone froze, their jaw dropped to the floor. Even the receptionist wasn’t an exception, color drained from her face. I nodded, my hands clamped with sweat. As we walked together, whispers began. “Who is she?”“I heard she’s Alice Grey.”“I’ve been working here for the past ten years and I’ve never seen Mrs Grey welcome anyone other than her family.”“She must be special.”As the elevator door slid open, Mrs Grey gestured

Alice’s POVI changed my clothes, wearing an ash hoodie with black pants. Then, I packed my hair into a ponytail and slipped on a pair of black glasses. Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I muttered, “this will do.”Taking a deep breath, I quietly opened the door and peeked. Slowly, I shut the door to my room, looking around frantically. Luckily, Diana was nowhere in sight and Klaus had gone to work. I tiptoed towards the front entrance, praying no one would notice me. Before my fingers could touch the door handle, a voice stopped me. “Ma’am?”I shut my eyes before turning around. “Heyy…Hannah,” I said with an awkward smile, scratching the back of my neck.“Are you going somewhere?”“Oh no. I just…want to go for a walk.”Hannah paused, scrutinizing me from head to toe. It was obvious she wasn’t buying it.Why was she the one that always caught me everytime.“Do you need the chauffeur to prepare the car?”“No need. I just want some fresh air.”She remained silent, but her eyes

Alice’s POV It’s been two days since I last saw Klaus. I didn’t want to see him. So I had locked myself inside my room. Memories of how he had discarded my food without even giving it a try, replayed in my mind like an endless tune. The way he had supported Diana without a second thought, without considering how I’ll feel or about the effort I had put into it. I clenched my fist inside my sleeve. “I’m done trying,” I muttered under my breath. Maybe it was time I stick with the marriage arrangements, after all, falling in love was never part of the deal. A knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. It was probably Hannah. I’m sure she wants to give me my breakfast. But right now, I wasn’t in the mood. “Hannah, come back later.” But the knock on the door didn’t stop, instead it increased. With gritted teeth, I reluctantly stood up, feeling annoyed. Opening the door, it wasn’t Hannah, instead it was Klaus. The moment I set my eyes on him, my heart skipped. Damn
