Maisie I had never seen Alpha Theodore before but when he walked into the library I froze from the aura he exuded as Alpha of the pack. No one had to tell me that he was Keith's father. I knew instantly. “Father,” Keith addressed the Alpha with no particular warmth, “it is rude to barge into my personal space without knocking.” Alpha Theodore was not looking at his son. Maisie We never spoke about it. It was something we both endured quietly and then carried on with our lives the next day like nothing ever happened. But when my mother walked into my room the next morning while I rummaged through my wardrobe for what to wear, I noticed her swollen cheek and it broke my heart. It was one reason I was willing to endure humiliation at the Academy. I knew there was a better life for us after that. I could get a respectable job and save us both from our monster. And yet my mother had a bright smile on her face when she walked into my room. She looked simply radiant. It was just who she was. Maisie I felt the tips of my fingers tremble when I saw Betsy on my living room couch, that sadistic smirk on her lips and that evil glint in her eyes. Her smile widened when our eyes met. “Your friend is here again,” My mother looked cheerful. MaisieMy father had a way of making me lose my mind. His very presence annoyed me, and it had all started when I was still a small child. He would always find every reason to hit me, calling it discipline. He was very harsh on me growing up. It was almost like he hated me. And when I asked my mother if perhaps I was not really his son, she had told me he would have killed me if he thought that I was not his son. He had stopped hitting me eventually because I had started training to fight and would fight him back and mostly win. Now we had long arguments and shouting matches and threatened each other openly. It was a hate-hate relationship that I had with my father. Nothing more. There was no love. At least, I had never sensed that he held such a feeling for me. He only saw me as his replacement but always pointed out how I was lacking the qualities to take over from him successfully. I was determined to prove him wrong. I dropped my bag and walked out of my room and the pack house.
